Castoro Brown suede boots, mounted with MK Professional blades

I live in Sonoma County and skate at Snoopy's Home Ice in Santa Rosa. I had been skating for one year in stock Riedell skates, and I started to need a more secure fit because I was progressing to spins and entry-level jumps . My left foot is size 8.5 and right foot is 9.5, so I needed a pair of custom boots. When I inquired about custom ice skates, one of the coaches quickly recommended Harlick. I made an appointment, and was greeted by Phil and Ginger Kuhn. He traced both feet, took all of my measurements, and we went down the list of all the options. Though Phil does not skate himself, he is knowledgeable enough to recommend MK Professional blades - which every coach + skater recommended for my level of figure skating. I paid a small fee for expedited service, and my boots were ready to be picked up in 6-7 weeks. Upon returning, I was assisted by one of the sons, Jason Kuhn. I put the boots on and they fit like a glove, with only tiny adjustments that needed to be made. Jason is a very experienced craftsman, and was thorough with his line of questioning. He proceeded with a temporary mount of the blades and made a few more adjustments. Simply stellar customer service!

Why wait? My husband and I just made a trip from Dallas, TX to San Carlos, CA to pick up both of our skate boots- after patiently waiting for several months for the boots to be built. We have skated as a couple for the last 10 years, and we can tell anyone reading this review these boots are a great investment. Prior to switching to the Harlick boot, there were many "other" boots that we tried and found they were lasting us around a year before they were breaking down- we skate A LOT. The Harlick boot is where the breaking down issues stopped- Harlick's lasted approximately 4-5 years of constant repeated abuse. After speaking in depth with Jason at Harlick, we found they use only the highest quality textiles/components, utilizing tried and true methods- I guess that's what happens when you have 4 generations of family working together to hone their craftsmanship/skills. Please note that Jason was very personable and was not afraid to show us where the magic happens in his boot factory- We even got to see him build part of the boots that we were picking up! In his boot factory you will find that he is using machinery dating back to the early 1900s- NO automated/computerized machinery here! You will also find EVERY kind of pattern/style you can think of implemented into their custom boots- You must see it to believe it. Now for the best part- Our first night wearing the new custom luxury boots was absolutely sublime/outstanding/amazing- Absolutely NO pinching, blisters, or discomfort. How can this be in a new boot you might ask? Get Harlick Boots- I will never wear any other skate boot. If you find your feet hurting after an hour of cranking out jumps, spins, and footwork I can tell you something is wrong with your boots- Talk to Jason at Harlick he can mold your feet to ensure your boots fit PERFECTLY. I hope this review helps some of the newer skaters that feel like they just aren't capable or maybe slow to learn such a skill- sometimes it is the equipment you are using that is holding you back. You can rest assure that Harlick boots will NEVER hold you back. Well worth the money!

John immediately jumped to my aid when I walked in, and helped answer all my questions thoughtfully and compassionately. He took all the time I needed to try out different options and guide me through the pros and cons. As a bonus, my girlfriend was with me at the time, and she was so impressed with the service that she asked John for assistance when I was done. He helped identify what options could help and got her set up with some custom insoles. We both left feeling very well taken care of and have been enjoying the difference we already notice in our day-to-day workout routines. Big thanks to John -- we highly recommend asking for him if you're in need of assistance at this Road Runner!

We have been to this location a couple of times by now and this review is long overdue. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they actually took the time to do an assessment and explain their recommendations instead of rushing us through. It felt helpful, not salesy, which I really appreciated. Overall, a solid spot if you're looking for running shoes or inserts and want some guidance from people. They have a solid selection of sports gear. It's on the expensive side, but it's worth it if it works out for you

I thought something happened to my rear suspension, but when I got home and was walking up our stairs, I looked back and realized the crossbar was completely detached. Sorry to whoever was driving behind me that might have caught a stray screw. Fast-forward to today. I had some of the parts, but definitely not everything. I walked into The Rack Spot with the crossbar in hand, and Joe came out from whatever he was working on in the back of the shop , I think it was some Tesla garbage , and completely stopped what he was doing to help me out. He found the part I needed and had the crossbar installed within minutes. He also recommended getting some locks for towers, installed those too, and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Thanks so much, Joe! Sounds like everyone at The Rack Spot has been killing it for years, and I can see why. Shops like this are slowly disappearing, so when you find one that actually takes care of people, they deserve to be spotlighted. Thanks, Joe..

With a family of five and now traveling with extra sports equipment, cramming everything into our SUV just isn't realistic anymore. We already had crossbars and tower attachments, but weren't sure they were the right fit. We were considering a Thule storage box but didn't know which size would work best, so I brought to them a mix of borrowed parts from friends to test things out before buying. Mike was incredibly helpful from the moment we arrived. He walked us through Yakima vs. Thule components, explained the differences and similarities, priced out multiple options, and made sure we understood exactly what would fit our vehicle. He also let me know that they price match if that was a concern for me. He was patient, thorough, and genuinely invested in helping us get the right setup. After realizing Thule was the better direction, I returned for updated estimates -- and again, Mike delivered exceptional service. The day before our trip, I went back to purchase the Thule towers, and JP provided the same top‑tier experience. He showed me how to assemble everything, made sure the locks were installed correctly, and ensured I felt confident using the equipment. I'm truly grateful for the expertise, honesty, and customer care The Rack Spot provided. If you're considering bike racks, storage boxes, or any vehicle rack system, I highly recommend this shop. Their knowledge and service are unmatched.

I worked with Raymond and you can tell he really knows his stuff. I've been to other pro shops that do the minimum, but Raymond takes the time to ask you questions about your game, how you throw, any physical limitations or other factors that will help him determine how to drill your ball. After a few days when my stuff was ready, I had the chance to throw the ball and they felt really good. Comfortable in my hand and just the perfect fit. I'm 36 and the last time I bowled league I was 16. I've been bowling in leagues for the past 7 months and my current league average is a 195. I didn't think I'd get to a 195 after 20 years away from the game. So I give a lot of credit to Raymond for his knowledge and getting me set up correctly. Current high game since getting back into bowling is 261. They also have a little bit of everything, shoes, shamy pads, bags, apparel, thumb tape, etc. just a heads up, don't expect a pristine pro shop, the spot is small, there are bowling balls and equipment everywhere. But to me that's the sign of great pro shop. 10/10 would recommend coming here.
