Busy spot on Saturday! I have been passing this place by for almost 10 years and this is my first time eating inside! I definitely like the old 70s charm including the amber colored glass & bronze lanterns at the booths. I had the huevos rancheros with chili beef and my hubby opted for the Cisco breakfast platter with French toast. Everything was very tasty - just like homemade! GO TO ANY OTHER PLACE! The pancakes were literally bisquick and water and tasted like dry sand. Ordered a side of bacon and potatoes and they charged me 8 dollars for each item. Over 30 dollars for bisquick pancakes, half a plate of Sysco potatoes and 4 pieces of bacon that was so burned it just crumbled in my hands. Great customer service!! From the moment you walk in it feels like your at a restaurant in your living room. I got way too many things to name but I'll just say we came for breakfast and I've never feasted like this before. It was a table of 5 of us. We started off with the blueberry pomegranate mimosas and we ended up getting another two rounds of those. I believe the flavors change every weekend, they're strong so take it easy . This place is pretty much a Tempe institution. I didn't go to ASU, so I don't know if it is a college thing or only popular with the working crowd, but it IS popular. Parking is a challenge and the place is not fancy, but I've never been disappointed in the breakfast. The Eggs Maximilian and Huevos Rancheros are some of my favorites. I've never found the coffee to be anything spectacular, but it is kept hot and full, which is nice. The staff are consistently friendly and service is good. Although it slows down a little as the place fills up, there are usually plenty of servers available to handle the crowd and they turn over tables pretty fast at breakfast time. During lunch, it seems that people tend to linger a bit longer, so the wait is likely to reflect that. There's no inside waiting area, so you either get seated quickly, awkwardly hang out by the register or go outside. I think I've always gotten a seat pretty fast. It is good, simple food that is made well and served up pretty fast, too. read more

Enjoying my second visit this morning. I've always wanted to try the food here. It's your typical greasy spoon diner. The food is very good for the price, as are the portions. Now, I say good in relativity to diner food. It's not a Michelin Star restaurant. On my last visit I tried to order a dozen peach muffins. Apparently there were over baked, so I ended up getting them for free. They were fine...a little more brown than normal but completely sellable. I think it says a lot about them trying to provide high quality food. A lot of people reviewing on here have really high expectations for a very straightforward type of establishment. It's high volume, and it's made quickly. If you want a high attention to detail it's probably not your place. read more

The pro's: We were seated promptly within walking in. You get a lot of food. The portions are enough to split one meal between 2 people. Our waitress was really friendly and attentive and our food came out fairly quickly within placing the order. The cons: Greeted by staff not wearing masks over their faces. The masks were either around their necks or off to the side of their face. One waitress didn't have one on at all. No distancing being observed in spacing customers out. The diner was full, with people seated within arms lenght of each other. We watched a couple people enter the restaurant without masks (no enforcement). Although portions are large, we have had a lot nicer meals for less. Coffee and juice overpriced at $3 a glass/cup. The buiscuits aren't the traditional flaky sort, but closer to oversized dinner rolls. The gravy tasted like it came out of a can. read more

Never again. Hadn't been in years so we decided to try it again. Holy cow ... what a rip. $52 for breakfast! My husband ordered hash and eggs and the waitress asked, what kind of sausage do you want? We looked at each other because we didn't think sausage would come with a hash meal. Well when we got the bill we were charged $8 for the 'side' of sausage. $3.50 for a side of gravy and 3.50 for a 'small' iced tea. Then when you go to check out we had 2 choices for a tip, $10 or $18. What!! Bad on us for not speaking up but that was an eye opening experience. Take that off our breakfast options. Isnt that great of food (looked like canned hash) and very expensive. read more

Unimpressed, that best describes my feelings about Harlow's. The parking situation sucks, from the start you are already kind of irked. Walking in, the decor looks like a mobile home from the 1970s. The minute you look at the menu you are wondering where the profits from this place are going because the prices are outrageous. Think of a small town diner that you have been to then double the pricing and cut the taste of the food in half, that's Harlow's. I got the huevos rancheros and it had seemed like I ordered a soup. The dish was very watery and unappealing. I had to add salt and pepper as it was not seasoned reasonably. The price of the food was equivalent to San Francicso and New York brunches and the quality was nowhere close. I was in a rush so I had to consume the food, I requested a refund and I was denied. I love trying new places for breakfast and saw this restaurant is popular with the locals! It's your typical cafe with the main seating area, breakfast bar, and cooks in the kitchen right in front of you. I read that it can be a wait due to how popular they are so I got there at 7:05 (they open at 7) and there were already about 6 cars there! The coffee and food were fantastic. My waitress was awesome and greeted me right away. It's definitely a homey feel and so many of the customers are known by name! read more

We were in Phoenix for a spring training getaway weekend and looked for a place to have breakfast and again, thanks to Yelp, we found Harlows. The let the line scare you away, it's worth the wait! My wife had the corned beef hash and I had the Spanish omelet. Both dishes were excellent and the ranchero sauce on the omlet was sweet and smokey. The staff is very attentive and were constantly there refilling our drinks. They also have homemade baked goods and their biscuits were delicious. read more

I am only giving three stars, because I actually have not tried this café. However, it's always packed and I hear the food is phenomenal. I went one day to get a take-out order on my way to work and it was on a busy Saturday and people were waiting to eat outside, so as the website said they do pick up orders and I called the restaurant to place my pick up order only to be told that they do not do to go orders at all that I would have to come in and eat if I wanted anything to eat and wait my turn onto dine in. Obviously I couldn't because I was on my way to work. They are losing a lot of business by not doing take out orders. Maybe someday I will be able to try it since I am usually alone and don't want to dine in alone. read more

The pancake was cold & was missing something, it crumbled & fell apart before you could get it onto your fork (didn't eat half of it & one pancake was $7) The hash browns were cold & not completely cooked. The ambiance is what brought me here. So cool to see the pics and old movie posters on the walls!! But the friendly service and excellent food will bring me back. My server was very helpful and there when I needed anything. The French toast was so e of the best that I have EVER had. The sausage was very good as well, but the bacon!!! The cafe is cute! I need to try it again for lunch. Breakfast was ok. Nothing earth shattering. I started with a cup of coffee, the waitress was pleasant and she brought it out promptly. I ordered the Percy Omelette with a blueberry muffin and a pancake on the side. I try to always order a pancake, that is my ultimate tastiness test. My husband ordered the Parisian Omelette, which was the special of the day. He got his with a peaches and cream muffin and an order of biscuits and gravy. He let me try his meal as well because he knows I enjoy reviewing multiple items. The Percy omelet was delicious! The sauce was very unique and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the homemade hash browns. They were clearly potato, not shredded mystery starch. They were good! I think they could do with more spice, but add some ketchup and hot sauce and they were great! I don't know a kind or polite way to say this...I did not like the pancake. It was bland, even with butter and maple syrup it was not great. Perhaps if it had been cooked in butter it would have more flavor, but for almost $6 for one pancake I expected much more flavor! I also didn't like the biscuits and gravy. They needed pepper and salt, they were not bad, but they clearly didn't learn how to make them from a southern grandma! The Parisian omelette was quite tasty, I liked mine better, but it was good. Overall the food was good, but not outstanding. I would like to try their lunch menu to see if that is worthy of more stars. But as for breakfast it was fine. Stopped in for breakfast after our flight was canceled. Staff was incredibly friendly, which was much appreciated. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros topped with homemade red salsa. The refried beans were the star, but the fresh, piping hot, tortilla was a close second. The chorizo burrito was also delicious. We probably could have split just one dish if we had added a side pancake. Two breakfast plates and two coffees came out to $44. Definitely worth it after a day of airport food. read more

5-star review but it's for a couple of different reasons. First being this is one of the last spots that still keeps the Tempe nostalgia alive. Not only because of the wood panel and rustic decor but by honoring the people that made the music and art scene great in the '90s. Next, you can't beat a traditional breakfast that is quick, delicious and delivered by some of the most beautiful and friendly wait staff on the planet. A couple of things to take into account; parking is a bit limited and if you enjoy a late breakfast you might wait a bit. If your the type of person that doesn't mind eating alone there are counter stools. Great opportunity to meet someone new. read more
