I worked here when I was a teenager, 35 years ago or so. Since then I've moved away and traveled the world and it is still one of the first places I go when I get back here. The service is quick and friendly. The most refreshing thing is the menu and food are still exactly as I remember it from back then except the prices have been adjusted for inflation. Waited outside for server to take my order while they took 5 orders from cars that arrived after I did. Spoke to the owner and he was extremely rude. He said "well we do get busy". Servers were having private pow wows. Not doing their job. I understand that they are teenagers. However, the owner did not handle my concern at all. What happened to Harned's? My family and I were bi-monthly customers for years. We considered the food to be borderline excellent on most occasions. We were out of town for several months, upon returning one of our first outings was to eat there. All of us found the food was "water soaked" and without flavor. Thinking that we caught a bad day we returned the next week. The result was the same, not only was the flavor diminished this time our order was cold as well! Plus the BBQ appeared to have been processed in a blender and was again watery! We sincerely hope that this is noticed by whom ever is trying to manage the drive-in. We would love to see the quality return so we could once again enjoy the food. Last note, the car hops were very efficient as they have always been in our experience there. read more

Stopped here because we were starving. Cute drive in place where they come get your order. We got 2 pulled pork sandwiches. They come on a hamburger bun which was flattened Down and mine was burned. The sign says barbecue but I'm here to tell you about their burgers..they're absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a diner burger, this is the place to go in Paducah. The patties are grilled so you get lots of great texture too! They have an item called the chuck wagon - a patty that is breaded and deep fried, with all the fixings, on a bun. YUMMMMY. This place seemed to be popular with the locals, but I didn't think much if the food personally. It is certainly not "The best bbq in the South" as their sign claims. Maybe the best in south Paducah? I had pulled pork with the hot sauce on top, baked beans, and slaw. The pork was pretty bland even with the somewhat hot, yet largely flavorless sauce on it. The baked beans were the best part of the meal but they were almost too sweet. The slaw was above average but not outstanding. While I'm not the biggest fan of white cole slaw, I ordered it as the only other side options were more carbs. It was good enough that I ate most of it. They also give you two slices of white sandwich bread which I would have told them to keep if I had known it was included. This is a little drive-in operation in with carside service which is a nice throwback to the good old days. Looked like they might also have a few tables inside. Food was out in about five minutes. Prices were reasonable with a pulled pork plate for about $7.50. A lot of people seem to like it, but the food just didn't do it for me. read more

Cash only here. South's Best BBQ as advertised?? Definitely not. Really even BBQ? Not in my opinion. No smoker in site and none found in online photos. Off site maybe. Any review calling this the best BBQ anywhere has not eaten any truly quality BBQ. Good thing it's quite inexpensive because any higher and it would be considered a terrible value. The majority of their menu here has nothing to do with BBQ. They offer chopped pork with sauce as a plate or sandwich and by the pound. Only one sauce choice. The rest of the menu is burgers, ham sandwiches, hoagies, fish(?), and sides. Because neither of us are fans of chopped pork, we went with different choices. The hamburger was plain, small boring. The BBQ ham sandwich is made with some very tasty country ham but practically drowned in the sauce which I found too spicy for my taste. This sandwich without sauce would be a better choice. The fries and onion rings were standard issue food service product. As a matter of fact, none of the sides I saw during our visit resembled anything made in house. All made in a factory somewhere. Fun aspect of Harned's is the very personable carhops coming out to the car to take your order. If you'd rather not eat in your car, they do have a few tables inside. And anyone complaining about this being a cash only place has no grasp on how credit card processing fees can affect the bottom line of a small family business like this. If that keeps you from enjoying a visit here, so be it. I have a feeling they may have been closed/affected by Covid here as the lack of current photos and reviews on sites such Yelp and Tripadvisor seems telling as to the amount of business they've done recently. Wow probably the best meal we have had all week. Been snowed in for days. Finally got a chance to get out and went to Harneds for BBQ. I had a pork plate with the best potato salad in Paducah. Along with the baked beans that are to die for. Hubby had the ham plate with the same sides. He agreed it had been too long since we had been there. The family that owns and operates this place are locals. We love the fact that they close about 4 times a year, for a week. To completely clean the restaurant! Worth the wait for them to reopen. Pretty nice local place. Service is great but it is a cash only establishment. The prices are very reasonable and the food is tasty. They are very willing to customize anything you want so just talk to the friendly folks. There's a few tables inside but most people just order from their car. I have been eating BBQ Pork Sandwiches, Onion Rings, The Hoagie, The BBQ Ham, and the Homemade Chili for over 25 years now. Hands down my favorite place for everything named above. I literally eat here at least 5 times a month, every month. Car Hops are on the ball! The inside is perfectly clean. CASH ONLY no checks or debit cards. Family Friendly business. Great place to call ahead for a few pounds of BBQ to take home for dinner too. They also serve ice cream and such if you eat dessert. My husband loves to BBQ Ham. Amazing place! Stop in here a few times a month and have never been disappointed. When they are busy it's hard to get a spot sometimes but they work so fast if you wait a minute one will open up. They are at your window waiting to take your order before you can even put your car in park. When I pull up in my work truck I feel like I even get my order quicker because they know I'm busy and only have a few minutes to eat. I am amazed!! This is a great restaurant with great management and great customer service. Good quality, prompt service and they never seem to get the order wrong. After having sampled the other fast food restaurants along the same road as this, I can honestly say it is the best. You won't see workers in dirty uniforms, smelling like a hot dog and kicking boxes to the dumpster. You won't hear them say, "we ain't got that; we runned out" during meal times. They don't rush you when ordering and they say, "yes, please and thank you," without sharing halitosis. Was lucky enough to stumble on this place while in Padukah for the day. The exterior is incredibly nostalgic and cute. The menu is simple and every item on it is fresh and good. The barbeque is so tender and flavorful that you don't really need sauce. The owner was there, and he makes you feel like part of the family. I guess I missed something. Most of the other reviews said it was awesome. I found it, underwhelming. Pork or ham only, no beef or chicken. No bbq sauce, just some hot sauce that is spicy, but definitely not "bbq". Beans were average. Onion rings were not good at all. Yuck. I'm not from the area, and all I saw fast food, so maybe that explains why it is popular? It was very busy. But then, so was the McDonalds. read more
