While staying in the area I kept encountering people recommending this place. I'm somewhat conflicted about it because while the flavor is there the portions are pretty small. When I think bbq I think big heaping plates of meat or sandwiches piled high. Their pork has a wonderful taste, it's got good flavor and it's plenty moist enough. However both my wife and myself was left wanting more after eating our meals. We both could have easily ate 2 sandwiches at the size of the ones we were served. The fries were crispy and fried perfectly and could've used some salt. I overheard a waitress telling another customer she added salt to his bag because they don't salt them so that's on me for not asking for some. The place is worth a try if you're in the area as there's not much else around. However don't come too hungry or you may leave disappointed. While the flavor is there, the value just isn't at all.

This is what you see when you die and go to heaven...

My childhood visits to my grandmother's in western KY would never be complete without a stop at Knoth's. I hadn't been here in probably ten years, but we went on a family road last week and stopped by. Nothing's changed in a decade! Same knickknacks, same pictures on the wall, same amazing BBQ. They have a smoke shack outside where the magic happens, and the kitchen inside cranks out amazing, simple, perfect BBQ sauce. Now, for the initiated, this is simple stuff. It's pulled pork on a bun, with a light touch of sauce. You're left to add more sauce or salt on your own. Some places drown their stuff in sauce, and really, you can't judge the skill of the pit master because all you get is sauce. Here, they let the quality of the pork speak for itself. You don't even get a plate. Seriously. I don't care. You get a Knoth's pulled pork sandwich!! Don't get greedy. Who needs a plate? It's not like you're going to put it down once you pick it up. . . There isn't a printed menu here, but a couple of boards on the wall with the selection posted up. Look, there's not a big variety here (understatement!), but there's only two things you want: a pulled pork sandwich and a butterscotch milkshake. I am actually really allergic to pork, but I took a handful of Benedryl, washed it down with a milkshake and ate two pulled pork sandwiches and crossed my fingers. The perfection of Knoth's is worth whatever pain and suffering my allergy brings me...

Absolutely crap, sauce sucks unless if you like sugar on your bbq. It is just bad. Put this way if it was free it would be over priced,

Good food friendly staff and environment. Hours could be a little better but it is off season well worth the 10 min drive

The ambiance is "Cracker Barrel meets old dusty floral decor," which in my humble opinion is a very "cluttered and clausterphobic" atmosphere, but it is still worth going to visit. The dust layers on all the fake florals was just a little hard on my allergies but the shops & restaurant food was worth it.

We had been here over the summer, and stopped by with our daughter to share the experience. Service is always good, and some of the food is great. It seemed like the 1 inch porkchop was not as good as the gigantic one I had last time, but I coykd be crazy. My husband woukd say I was crazy, so there is that. My daughter loved her fish. The mashed potatoes with white gravy were so good, I ate those first. Hubby asked for a garden salad with salmon. He got a spinach salad with salmon. Our server brought it out and offered to have it remade, but the salad looked wonderful and he really enjoyed it. Kudos to the chef for standing his ground haha. We were too full for dessert. Highly recommend, for the experience and the cute period clothing. Get reservations though! We have to wait over an hour on our first visit. We made reservations the 2nd time and we're seated within 10 minutes.

Seen some fellas sitting on a bench outside and asked where the best catfish restaurant is at. They said right here! It's a small diner type place with good sitting available in another room. We got a table for 8 and a child. We were promptly seated and waited on; we all were here yet but ordered drinks. No alcohol here but that's okay! Others arrived and we started off placing orders. After we ordered we had to opportunity to visit and discuss our day activities. Now from the time we checked in there was this trickle new customers coming in at a nice steady rate. This became a bit of a problem; we did have to wait awhile for our food to come out; so refills were being done! They did keep apologizing and finally said your food is being prepared. Finally our food came out and looked delicious. The appearance was good but it was second to the taste and decent size portions. Several of us just wanted catfish; boy this place did not disappoint. Our waitress Reese was awesome and did a nice job on taking care of us; The only hiccup was my wife didn't get her baked potato; which probably was more than she'd be able to eat but they addressed a credit for that item. Catfish was outstanding, great breading and taste. If ever in the area definitely will stop back in. There were food choices for everyone, vegan items and regular. If we were in area, probably would have come back for a breakfast This is definitely a diamond in the rough! Stop in if you're in the area. Length of wait for food was a ding, but the food and service override that so 5 it is!

The restaurant was quite busy. We secured a table and ordered two sandwiches, an order of coleslaw, and shared an iced tea. My wife is particular about sauces; we both tasted a small amount, and found the sauce to be excessively hot, with the consistency of watered-down hot sauce and lacking in traditional barbecue flavor. While the locals seemed to enjoy it, we did not find it to our liking. Having sampled barbecue in various regions, from California to the Carolinas, we found this to be the worst sauce we've encountered. We did not use the sauce on our sandwiches. The meat was adequately cooked but lacked flavor. The coleslaw was very good, as was the iced tea. The service was excellent. The restaurant is quite small, as evidenced by the previous photos. If you are seeking authentic Southern barbecue, Starnes BBQ falls short of expectations.

Still just a counter with stools around it But the staff is always super friendly and the food is simple but top notch If you go at lunch expect a line possibly out the door but they move quick The only thing that's changed is they no longer have RC Cola in the glass bottles but I know that's a thing of the past If your in Paducah don't pass this up it's right across from Noble Park
