The surgery was fine, but I received little to no information as to what to do afterward. I did not…read morefeel well taken care of, and was honestly just confused and disappointed by the whole process. I got my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Dompkowski, and got an infection afterward. It was only when I called a week later (asking about the infection) that he explained that I should be doing saline rinses and taking antibiotics. While wisdom teeth removals aren't necessarily the specialty here, I was referred to Dr. D from someone who had been seeing him for a while. First, I came in to have my teeth evaluated, and Dr. D said that he could definitely do a wisdom tooth surgery. I asked if I would be put under, and was told yes. When I arrived for surgery, I learned that I would not actually be put under, as they only had local anesthesia (this part confused me). The surgery went well, and afterward I was sent on my way with an ice pack. Eventually, I got an infection, and had to come back to pick up some antibiotics. At this point, they told me that I should have been doing saline rinses every day since the surgery (which would have been great to know). After realizing that I was missing a lot of information, I looked online and consulted others to find out that I should be using a water stream to dislodge anything that might get stuck in the gum-holes (which they also neglected to mention). To give them the benefit of the doubt, wisdom teeth removal isn't a normal occurrence here, and that could have been why there wasn't a standardized process of explaining post-surgery procedure. That being said, I considered the lack of information given to be a gross oversight, which resulted in a bad and physically painful experience for me. Needless to say, I will not be coming back.

When I got there, Dr. Loewinger was bragging about how she was at a senator's anniversary party until 2am the night before, and she was presumable now hungover (or maybe even still drunk). She did not give me anesthesia, and when she saw me wincing she said: "wow I'm surprised it hurts, I gave you so much anesthesia." When I informed her that she actually didn't give me any, she then rambled on for 10 minutes trying to cover her tracks - saying "oh yes, I actually made a judgement call to not give you anesthesia because it's just one filling." Super shady. When she put in the filling, she then was like "okay you're done." I've had enough fillings in my life (unfortunately) that I know you need to them shape and file down the filling after putting it in so it doesn't throw off the pressure in your mouth. I raised that to her, and she goes "oh yes, I figured I should just get you out of here quickly so I wasn't going to do it." Um what?! Now it is 1.5 months later and my filling has fallen out so I now have to try to make a last minute appointment (obviously not with her) so that my tooth doesn't erode due to the middle of my tooth being exposed. Seriously, not acceptable at all. Actually wondering if there is a way to report this to a dental board - if anyone knows how, let me know.

I know most people don't love the dentist, but I'm ridiculously, over-the-top scared. Not a little nervous, but totally irrationally fearful. In a lot of pain, and as a first-time patient, Dr. Loewinger was able to fit me in for an emergency appointment. I hadn't eaten or slept for 72 hours and was in tears when I got to her office. She and her staff were so kind to me, and the procedure was completely painless. I scheduled a cleaning for the next week, which was also a fantastic experience. My tooth required a root canal, and she recommended Dr. Olga Fonseca (also wonderful). Overall, she has really helped me get over my fear of dentists and I think has me on a good path to regular dental care. OH, and even though I knew that my decade-lapse in dental care was a very bad thing, she never once scolded or judged me. Overall, the whole experience has been fantastic - way more than I could ever expect from a dentist!

After two standard cleanings and one round of routine x-rays, I received a bill for over $400! Mind you, I had dental insurance at the time of both visits. Unfortunately, this office has decided that they are out of network with every dental plan, and they balance bill patients for any amount not covered by their dental insurance. This is a predatory and frankly unethical practice, and this provider should be held accountable. After numerous calls and emails with the practice, they ultimately dropped my amount due to $240. I will be finding a new dentist.

Michael Urban is fantastic. Last spring, another dentist messed up my teeth (left decay under…read morefillings, made the tops the wrong shape), and I was in extreme pain. Dr. Urban got me in the next day. He ended up having to redo all my fillings, but he correctly diagnosed the problems and fixed my teeth so they felt as good as new. Then a couple weeks ago, I started having trouble with my TMJ. I told him I was trying to wait until the new year for an appointment because I had used up all my dental insurance, and he offered to see me immediately pro bono. He figured out what was wrong with my jaw and gave me exercises and instructions to fix it. Dr. Urban is highly skilled and compassionate. He is also extremely prompt, patient and clear with all communication. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Had been going to Dr. tigani for years as part of a family with my parents. When I had to switch…read moreoff to my own insurance, this practice turned into a nightmare. Not sure how it's being run after I stopped coming here in 2016, but, they don't take insurance. They had been "submitting" to insurance as a courtesy for my family, specifically Karen who used to be at the front desk. The issue I ran into was that she checked off the box that reimbursement would go to the dentist office instead of myself. So yeah, double dipping fraud. I also never liked the fact that my crowns weren't fully finished, essentially giving him additional work in the future. I also visited his DC office as I had an emergency with my tooth breaking on a cosi sandwich.. the other dentist there decided to smack my teeth with a small metal hammer, breaking the broken one even more. Super scary, and what felt like incredibly unprofessional. Due to never getting any of my out of pocket payments reimbursed, I started digging and raising flags and asking why and how much I had sent via check vs how much they charged me. I gave them 3 months to "research" this and they instead, gave me a single page sheet with payments made, none of which had check numbers, original costs billed, etc. Instead of bringing a lawsuit, I decided to leave and find a new dentist. My new dentist had to send me for a root canal on the crown Dr. Tigani did as he left a sizeable hole due to not fitting the crown properly. Instead of fixing it, he said "let's watch it". The new dentist realized the damage that was done I've since had 7 root canals all from fillings that have failed from Dr. tigani's practice. It was also a relief going to a new dentist that actually checks the jaw, gives you sunglasses to protect your eyes, and actually TAKES INSURANCE. Besides the office of DR. Tigani not being professional, the parking lot is one of the worst I've ever been to. Gave me anxiety that I was going to run into one of the columns. I cannot honestly recommend Dr. Tigani. I also do not like the fact that he puts emphasis on getting golden crowns (I never did this) and he believes you don't need your back molars (have been told he recommends removal). I've spoken to countless professionals that go against these practices. If you want an old school, out dated, 90s style dentist that will charge you an arm and a leg and ensure he sets up your dental hygiene for future work.. this is the doc for you.
