Came in one day for lunch and got the 4 wings Lunch Special. I brought it back home and it was still good. The wait might be a bit long but the food is worth it. Southerner here - Best Fried Chicken and Collard Greens that I've been able to find since moving to Chicago 2+ years ago!

Very disappointed in this location. I ordered the 8 piece shrimp, with a thigh and leg combo. The delivery guy was good and on time. But the problems started, as soon as I opened it. I ordered sauce, to which the placed nothing in it, except a very dry and crunchy, small little baby leg, that was cold. The thigh was small but was heated ok. The shrimps were small but seasoned good. The fries were hard and crusty, with soggy bread, that seemed to be sitting somewhere, for a while. So disappointed. The Harold's name, should not be played with, by having trash franchises, like this one and another one, located by Depaul and Roosevelt Universities. I believe 600 South Wabash. This kind of shit, should not happen to Harold's, which has outstanding locations, on 103rd and Halsted, 87th and State. I feel like these sub-standard ones, should be pit on the broadcast. Lazy employees will ruin Harold's great name. The powers that be, need to get on top of this. I love Harold's too much, to get shitty food like this. read more

I came to this Harold's today. It's been awhile since I had not been to one since they closed the one on Washington in West Loop. I ordered online at 4pm for a 6pm pickup. I decided to order online because I understand it takes awhile to cook the chicken because fresh fried chicken is their thing. I just wanted to go in and grab my food and head to my appointment. This is why I ordered online at 4pm for a 6pm pickup. I got their at 6:07pm and was told my food would be ready in 7 minutes...I did not get my food until 6:25. AWFUL. I wish I could give 0 stars. Ordered carry out and the mild wings and order of fries came completely drenched in ketchup and had bits of paper stuck to them. Half of the order was missing. I called to complain and the woman on the phone, "Carter," was extremely rude and refused to refund me or even apologize. The other wings and fries I ordered were disgusting and devoid of the hot sauce. Very little meat on the wings and you could get better breading from a gas station. Do not waste your time or money. This was my first and last time there. I gave them one star because the shrimp was ok but the breading was kinda hard, the same breading they use for the fish and the service was HORRIBLE!!! I called in my order for 12 pc shrimp. They didn't tell me all they had was jumbo shrimp and didn't tell me my total over the phone. When I went in to pick up my food she told me my order was $16 I asked her can she changed it to 8 pc shrimp because she didn't say they were jumbo and that's a little steep for those shrimp. She asked someone in the back to change the order and they began to be very rude and loud not to mention another person, a female worker, walking around with a shirt on with profane words on it. Man I wish I could give 0 stars. It never fails. Like do you put out an ad looking for the most unqualified, rude and obnoxious people to work at Harold's? I get it. Work sucks but I've never been in a Harold's that had one person that could even act like they want to be there. I tried to place a phone order so I could limit my time listening to employees make moronic conversation filled with profanity, watch four people in the kitchen stand around doing nothing, and wait 45 minutes for some damn chicken. Forget it. The best part is when you try to place an order and they look at you like you just walked in their house and started to bother them. Like do you need a job or what? I'm done with Harold's. All of them. Hopefully more people will realize this and stop going all together. Either Harold's will be forced to change their horrible service or be forced to close shop. read more

Not sure what the bad reviews are about. We ordered pick up and the chicken was great-fresh and crispy! The mild and hot sauce were good as well. The Coke slaw is a tad sweet but still good. Lastly, the recommended the Obama tea and it is definitely a must try-not too sweet. read more

Big fan of Harold's overall but this particular location is terrible. We placed a carry out order for lunch A DAY IN ADVANCE and still the order came almost two hours after it was scheduled to. The chicken was dry and underseasoned, the coleslaw was missing from the orders, the bags were all mixed up, and they did not send us any sauces whatsoever. Furthermore, they were completely and totally unapologetic about the whole experience. I still think Harold's is a Chicago institution but you'd be better off going to almost any other one besides this one. read more

On my way to the Harolds' location at Washington & Halsted and didn't realize it had closed and relocated to Madison Ave. I happened to be driving east on Madison and looked over at a "Harold's coming soon" sign. My Son spotted in the people inside so we noticed it must be open. Very impressed with the ambiance and the gentleman at the register. When I asked how long they had been opened is when I found out that this is the new location for the one I was on my way to. Good thing we stopped and asked. Loved all the variety of choices on their menu, and the food was nice a fresh! Always expects to wait since it is made to order!!! The location nice modern and clean!! Friendly staff and welcoming!!! I know they are new so we figured we will give them a tryout. Yes yes yes wrong mistake we could have ever made stopping in thinking we would have some good food. We asked for them fish to be cooked well done, it look like they drop it and pulled it back up just horrible. Now wings were horrible I also asked for my wings well done. This is the first and last time I will visit this location. The cashier with the long braids acted like her braids were hurting she barely moved her head with an unpleasant look on her face, didn't know how to say may I help you, couldn't say thank you, and when you said thank you to her she looked at you like you were speaking another language. Three people in the back in the kitchen area goofing off with nasty language and on the cell phone. Very cold in the restaurant, no menu a customer had a question about the menu and the cashier had to turn her head up-side down to read the menu on the wall. I ordered 6 chicken wings and they had to be old because they were dark and hard and the sauce was not good. When you mess up a chicken wing that's not good! Worst service!! I called in my order and they told me it would be 20 mins, so I get there about 15 minutes later and pay for my food. Multiple people come order and go. I'm still waiting for my food so I inquire about it and they say it should be right up. So no another 15 minutes go by and other people who place their orders roughly 20 minutes after me get their food and leave again. They took about 50 minutes to get my food to me with no explanation and mostly being ignored me the whole time. HORRIBLE SERVICE. The employees are incompetent, slow, and immature. I waited 30+ mins for my order. In that time, I was treated to a live show of the employees acting immature with joke telling and yelling about tuna. When I asked about my order, it seems like they never remembered to actually make it. They gave me a lame excuse that it would be a few more minutes. In reality it was closer to 10mins. I've always said that Harolds on 87th street was my favorite Harolds in the city, and after my visit here I have no idea why! The women on 87th are so rude to me. I came in this West Loop Location for dinner tonight and the whole experience made my heart so warm. Now, I'd recognized the owner from a previous location. I felt welcomed as soon as I saw him because the service at the previous restaurant was great. Then I noticed that this black father had his children working with him in the store ALONG WITH spending time with them. ( If those weren't your kids I apologize, i really liked the family feeling.) But it was nice to see all the smiles and feel all the love. **The food was really delicious and fresh too!! Exactly how I ordered it and it was just like, if not better than the 87th location** The owner even went out of his way to bring my bike inside the store for protection. I love this location!
