We came for a team celebratory dinner. The food was good, menu was limited for picky eaters. I ended up just eating the charcuterie trio. The others at my table were very satisfied with their meals. The kitchen was very accommodating to allergies and dietary restrictions. I have one bone to pick. The Expediter/Food Runner girl was a walking health violation. Her hair was not properly pulled back, unless you count a barely half-up-half-down style with bangs still all down the face as pulled back. She did not wear gloves and had long fake nails. She was handling food with her bare hands; eating on the line in front of guests; not washing her hands between eating and handling food, and to top it all off, she was taking selfies where guests were in the background. As a food service worker myself, I was grossed out. Everything else was lovely. Server was funny and attentive. Food was delicious. Ambience was cozy, but very cute! My wife and I made dinner reservations for our anniversary. When we checked in they immediately wished us a happy anniversary. We were 30 minutes early but they seated us right away. The food was amazing and the service was even better. It was a very romantic atmosphere and we loved the ambiance. We ordered the soft shell crab, soup, fettuccine bolognese, foie gras, 12 seasons arugula salad, and the Alaskan halibut. All of the food was amazing! On a Friday date night the Mrs. and I ventured out as Harold's had been on her list of restaurants to try in the SWFL area. First question as I write this is "why did it take us 11 years to try this gem? First off the restaurant is in a typical FL strip mall but once you open the door you're in a super cool vibe with a bunch of happy people. Since we had reservations we were seated at our table and immediately greeted by several team members as they do really work as a team with the mission of delight the customer. We started with two vodka martinis that were superb!! Ice cold with just the right touch of olive juice and wonderful blue cheese olives. We started with the grilled octopus that was on point in flavors and presentation. The Mrs settled in for the Salmon and I had the Veal chop and both were the best dishes I have had in the area. I went to Harold's for the first time on Saturday. What an amazing dining experience. Marcus was our server and he was on point. He food was EXCELLENT. We were celebrating a special occasion and it was the perfect setting for it. I had the rabbit and it was fantastic. He had the filet with crab stuffed portobello mushroom, WOW. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be returning, especially knowing the menu changes regularly so it will be a different experience each time. HIGHLY RECOMMNED trying Harold's. This meal was so good I had the Togarashi Crusted Ahi Tuna with shrimp and it was the best. Also had a vegetable soup that was just ok but someone at table had the cream of mushroom soup that tasted really good. A few had the Charred Romaine Salad and they said it was good but would get the soup next time. Wagyu Tenderloin was also really good but Seared Scallops was not a big hit. Top quality attentive service and terrific cuisine. We started with a cup of the mushroom soup which was so good a bowl would have been a meal. I opted for their signature bone in veal chop which did not disappoint, however it was so huge 1/2 went home with me. My wife had the scallops - 5 beautifully cooked and presented big boys, and again 2 went home. A bottle of Gravel Pit Chardonnay to share, and a glass of the house Bordeaux for me upon the arrival of the veal chop were good choices. The only negative was that we were seated next to a round table of 6 extremely loud ladies which made it difficult to converse on occasion, however that did not detract from an amazing dining experience . read more

Each course was more wonderful than the last I consider myself a connoisseur of chowder, and their New England clam chowder is the best I ever had, helped along by a dollop of lump crab and an amazingly flavorful broth Our favorite appetizers were the rabbit croquettes and the buffalo style cauliflower. I had to leave this review ! When googling number 1 fine dinning in the fort Myers area , Harolds was at the top of the list. We decided to give this a try , at first when we pulled into the parking lot we almost left. It is set in what I would call like a strip mall ? Seems very small and very buffet like from the outside, the complete opposite of what you would expect for fine dining. Upon entering we also had a moment to ourselves where we considered leaving yet again . It is a small establishment and the placement of the tables is a slight bit cramped , but please keep reading because Im going to give you the best advice that changes everything. Our table was not yet ready , so we were presented with the option that we could wait or we could eat at the bar , when we considered the wait time , we opted for the bar. We were slightly disappointed at this point but also very hungry so we sat down and started to get an idea of things. Very quickly our attitudes were flipped right around, when you sit at the bar let me just preface this to say , you are given an absolutely incredible chef to table experience. The chefs are right in front of you working their kitchen like an intimate dance , and they are interactive with you the entire time. I don't mean a hibachi type performance , I mean you are talking to them about things on the menu that come from generations of their own personal families recipes and secrets. The menu itself is superb. You are served four to five courses of the most delicious food you could imagine. We are a bit of food snubs and review food accordingly. I can tell you here , it is some of the best dinning you could find in all south west Florida and I would compare it very closely to Michelin star. Having said all of that , the price to this day is something I have a hard time wrapping my head around. For an extravagant dinner for two , including a bottle of wine , our price without tip included was 160$. We were so astounded by this concept because had this been miami this would have easily been a 1500$ night , we really couldn't believe it. We had the absolute most incredible date night with the most incredible atmosphere , the most incredible food and we are definitely regulars now. They are not open on Mondays and because of their popularity, tried and true I would recommend setting your reservations at least 3 weeks or even a month out. This place is constantly booked and it can be very hard to even get in sometimes but I promise you it is worth it. read more

Coming from NYC and now living on Pine Island we thought we were in a fine dining desert. We were quite sad and disappointed in the other choices we had found until we tried Harold's! The food is truly exquisite, the service impeccable, the atmosphere has the perfect ambiance for the total experience. My ribeye was so delicious, cooked to perfection with side of mashed potatoes, crabmeat and asparagus. I had unbelievably great cream of mushroom soup to start. A chocolate mousse crunch with fresh cherries and vanilla to finish. Sophisticated dining , unexpected preparations. An owner who actually introduces himself to his guests. We'd made a reservation 2 weeks ago. We arrived a few minutes early and our table was waiting for us. Heather shared a bit about the menu and we ordered drinks and the fois gras and chicken soup. The soup was good, but the fois gras was PERFECTLY prepared, seared to a nice caramel color. SERIOUSLY good. For mains we had the scallops with risotto (phenomenal) and the tenderloin with potatoes,an amazingly easy dish to miss on, but Harold NAILED it! My husband almost licked the plate!! We finished with the key lime pie and hazelnut and chocolate cake (both good) and an espresso. VERY CIVILIZED MEAL with Heather giving us ample attention; she's a real pro. So, if you have read any of my previous reviews you know that I regularly play Yelp Bingo. When we are in a new town and are looking for dinner, we open the app and look for the highest rated restaurant we can find. The basic rules are over 4.5 stars (If available) and more than 100 reviews (if Available). I mean, if you open a restaurant you have to have at least 25 friends who will put out a positive review but if you have 100 or more, the reviews can be trusted. This does limit us from going to the hottest new place but we are rarely disappointed. Harold's was just under that 100 reviews threshold and we had no idea what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at how great the food was. The downside is that we came a bit underdressed. The ladies at the hostess stand were dressed in rather formal attire and here were two couples with their male companions wearing golf shirts and shorts. No one said anything but I really thought I should at least be wearing dress pants. The food was amazing. We were told that the Chief switches up 1/3 or more of the menu on a regular basis and there wasn't a dud with anything we chose. We ended up sharing the octopus appetizer which was fresh and appropriately charred. I had the Spareribs that was one of the newer entrees. The SpareRibs were melt in the mouth good! My date had the Salmon and it was so fresh you would think it was caught that morning! One thing to be aware of is that it is a bit pricy, not that I didn't feel that it wasn't a great value and an even a better date night out place, but this is not Applebee's... they even use Tablecloths :-) read more

I have been to Harold's a few times and this is my second time writing a review. The new menu items are absolutely amazing! The goat cheese salad is a classic and I always get that. The white asparagus was phenomenal. And I really enjoyed the scallops. I usually get steak at Harold's, but I'm glad I ventured off and tried the scallops. I highly recommend this dish. Harold's is one of the best restaurants in Fort Myers, it is a must try! If the area is in their busy season, do yourself a favor and get there before five and wait until they open the doors so you can get a seat at the bar... Wow!!! This is my favorite place in Fort Myers! Harold is a culinary genius. I love that the menu changes weekly- that says to me that the genius is creating. For a foodie- this is such a winning combo. There is nothing ordinary about Harold's. Another winner. On my first visit. Honestly, the food was amazing. I had the tuna and a dessert special (chocolate Dillie?). Both were amazing. The service was great and accommodating. Food came out incredibly fast because we had an early reservation and the server made sure to check in to ask if we wanted it slowed down. Harold came around at the end of the meal to check in with the tables. If we lived nearby we would be back. We stopped going because the last time we went, I couldn't order alcohol for medical reasons and I asked the server if they have something else to drink. His answer was: "Yes, water" Before that, I had ordered a special drink without alcohol and it was great. That's inconsistent. Who wants to pay over $100 in food and have to drink water? This is the second time that I've been to Haralds in the last 3 weeks and I have to say both times this restaurant has exceeded my expectations. Everything from the appetizers to the deserts were delicious. On my first trip I had the antelope tenderloin which was cook to perfection and literally melted in my mouth. On this trip I had the grilled venison chops that just took it to the next level. We were a party of 4 and we all agreed that everything we ate last night was prepared and served on a five star level. Harald's is now definitely at the top of our list. We went to Harold's Saturday for an early Fathers Day celebration. My husband picked Harold's because of the reviews. I wonder if the people who wrote them ever ate there. The food was tasteless! I got salmon in a pea purée. It was over cooked bland salmon in pea juice. My husbands ahi tuna was no better. Since dinner was so bad we thought at least we'd get a good dessert. Big mistake! The tiramisu, like the rest of the food, had no flavor. Since our visit Saturday we've talked to several friends who had the same reaction as we did. Went once will never return! Beware of reviews. Amazing dinner at Harold's with dear friends from VA. Skull Island prawns (from Australia) are the biggest and tastiest ever! There were two but they were like two lobster tails. I sadly had no room for desert. But my friends had the flourless chocolate cake and the pavlova. I tasted both and the were each exceptional.
