This is a really nice campground with friendly camp hosts and park rangers. The park was kept fairly clean and really packed when I had stopped by on the weekend. They have recycling available, doggie poo bags posted around the camp host areas, and firewood and fire starters for sale for a good price. The hiking trails to the beach was my favorite part. The view of the coast and rocks were amazing and the sand is beautiful! During the time I visited, the waves were pretty strong and the weather was chilly so I didn't actually get to play in the water, but the views are worth it if you stay here. The campsite is located up top on the cliff but there are walkways down to the beach areas. The only downside is camping next to the playground area. As a couple with no kids, I wish I had seen on the map before I booked my campsite that there was playground next to us. Either I didn't pay attention or it's not on the map on the reservation site, but that will be something to look out for if you're not into screaming children playing on the playground throughout the day. Luckily, everyone respected quiet hours. This park was packed with family and kids, I have never seen a park that packed before, but I understand why! It's really a nice place to take your family, but not a nice place if you're trying to have some peace and quiet. This was one of my favorite campsites throughout my road trip and I wish I had booked for two nights instead of one! read more

We camped here in our RV for two nights. Would have stayed longer had I known how gorgeous this beach and campground were! We had water and electric hook ups. Some also include sewer but ours didnt, however, they do have a dump at the front of the park as well. The spots were plenty big and offered lots of privacy due to trees and bushes that line the spots. We were lucky enough to get a partial ocean view as well! The park was clean and quiet, and the beach was BEAUTIFUL. We were able to walk down to the beach both days and watch the sunset. There is also some decent tide pooling on this beach as well. Would definitely stay here again. read more

My family and I took an RV trip up the Oregon coast this past week and LOVED our stay at Harris Beach. We were so lucky to have found the last one night only RV spot in the early evening!!! Our site was so cozy and super affordable. We sadly arrived just as it was getting dark and the next morning was pretty foggy so the visibility of the beach was pretty hard but it was still beautiful. Ugh I don't feel like typing all of this but I'm baffled at all the events that occurred in the past 15? Hours. The beach is pretty, plenty of parking, sprint has service (they never do), super dog friendly, clean bathrooms. Cool place. BUT we were one of the last people here, we went down to the beach to let our dog run around. The guy who closed up yelled down, HEY!! HEY!!! I'm used to people trying to get my attention like that, so I just ignore it. An aggressive HEY isn't the way to get my attention. I finally turned around and see this dude yelling down at us. I'm like WHAT? He's like, "is this your truck? (Its a VAN ffs!!) Its time to go, gotta close the gates!" So we get up there and he gives my wife a lesson on keeping our dog on a leash. Ok got it. SO fast forward to the next morning. My wife and I got the AM tummy aches. We rush to the nearest bathroom. Nice, clean bathroom. Then you see this lady with a bunch of make up and grocery bags around one of the sinks. She appears to be putting her make up on. Obviously she knows she's in a bathroom and we could possibly have to poop. As I sit down, I softly say, "I'm going to play some music for everyone's benefit." Something along those lines. Anywho- I awkwardly get to my business and I'm sure my wife did as well. The lady leaves. Sylvan Esso's "Radio" ends. My wife and I chat about our poop-stage fright. The lady comes back in. So I hit shuffle, totally ready to get skip, but Rihanna's "Needed Me" came on. I'm sure we'll all like this! A few moments go by and I hear the lady say something about us pooping & listening to music. I say, "what did you say?" She says, "are you listening to music & taking a sh**? Because I'm standing here listening to n***er music." My wife and I were both like WTF?!?!??!? I'm like why would you say something like that?? Then she called us "hothead losers" and "a couple of dykes" (duh??) on her way out. I ran out and got some pictures of her and the car she was driving. Watch out for this crazy!!! read more

WHITE COLLAR CAMPING is not a bad thing. This place was great. We were tent camping and booked only two days ahead of arrival. The Oregon fire restrictions went into effect the morning of our arrival; and unfortunately, we had brought a charcoal grill and wood to burn. This ended up being no problem at all. We drove down to the Fred Myers only 2 miles down to road and picked up an inexpensive propane grill and disposable tank for under $20. The campgrounds "quite time" was enforced from 10pm-7am. This was especially appreciated because when it got real quiet you could hear the waves crashing onto the beach from your tent. The restrooms were clean and always stocked. There were also hot showers that seemed readily available until the weekend. The beach, just a short hike from the campgrounds,was gorgeous and there were hardly any crowds there even though it got to 85 degrees the day we were there! We weren't actively looking to do any hiking but we found some easy, short ones close to camp that led us to beaches and gorgeous buttes overlooking the ocean. read more

Harris Beach State Park is located right off the 101 freeway and only a few miles north of Brookings, making it convenient and accessible. The campground is right next to the north and south Harris Beaches which offer a variety of entertainment: rock climbing, kite flying, swimming in the ocean, looking at tide pools, etc. One of the beaches is accessible via car; the other you have to walk a little bit to get to. Both are great locations. The camping spots are well kept and clean. The bathrooms and showers, for a campground, are immaculate! LOVED how clean they were, even with the Fourth of July rush. The area is scenic and has a good amount of trees and bushes to create visual privacy. The only downside was that the spots were really close together and quite small. We tried to fit two tents on our spot and had to put one of them in the parking spot in order to fit. The camp hosts weren't sticklers when it came to the quiet time, so you can really hear the neighbors due to proximity. There were tons of families with young kids running around, which made the atmosphere festive for the holiday weekend. read more

Beautiful views from some sites. Way too many dogs and owners often do not clean up their excrements!! Walking in dog manure and tracking it into your RV is not pleasant! Appears to be permanent or long time workers residing at the park who drive way too fast on their way in and out. Park employees/volunteers also buzz around on golf carts. They start early and drive too fast in this park with walkers out everywhere. Nicest sites have the roadway in front of them which is kind of noisy and definitely detracts from the view. It's like being in the city. The restrooms are not heated but are kept very clean. The shower stalls are heated and are also kept clean. Overall quite nice amenities. A nice park that could be even nicer with a little effort to reinforce the "clean up after your pet" policy and slow the speeds of pass through traffic. read more

A year round, full service campground on the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast. Electricity, running water, hot showers, some cable & wifi access and a laundromat for campers needing the comforts of home. Not a surfers beach, more of a wader, beachcomber, sunset watcher beach. My favorite seasons to visit Harris are fall and winter for the beautiful sunsets and storm surf. In the off season the beach can be isolated to the point that you are the only one there. I like that. It can be quite busy during the summer with families, there are junior ranger activities and campfire activities. read more

Nice campsite just cross the Oregon border from California. A very nice walk to the beach. Unlike California, they actually allow dogs on the beach. Most California State beach do not allow dogs on the beach...Just at the campsite. Oh, one of the first thing the Ranger did was give my dog a treat. read more

This beautiful Oceanside campground would be a wonderful place to camp but for the extremely noisy sawmill directly across highway 101. This sawmill operates around the clock, and the thundering sound of huge logs being offloaded there, combined with the "beep beep beep" of heavy equipment backup warnings make earplugs a must accessory in order to enjoy this park. We were kept awake all night by the noise on our first and only night there. We demanded and were granted a full refund for our week-long yurt reservation. Avoid this campground unless you are deaf or happen to enjoy round-the-clock racket of heavy equipment. read more

We camped at Harris Beach State Park for 4 days & had a great time. The camp sites are good-sized & include a fire pit & table/benches, (I kind of wish it had had a cabinet like the ones at Hidden Springs near Avenue of the Giants, but we made due.), & are reasonably close to some of the nicer bathrooms & (free) showers I've seen at camp sites. (Seriously -- water temperature & pressure can be a real issue & neither were here.) The beach was about a 10 minute walk from our camp site and is beyond spectacular. Definitely some of the most gorgeous coastal scenery I've ever seen. (Also, be sure to avail yourself of the wild blackberries growing along the paved trail to the beach!) The climate can be a bit challenging, so come prepared with LOTS of layers & options for many different temperatures & types of weather. We were there in August & woke up every day to cold mist. As the day went on, the shaded parts of our campsite stayed cool and comfortable while the sunnier parts warmed up enough for maybe a T-shirt & sandals but not quite (in my opinion) shorts. However, down on the beach it was 80s-90s & sunny enough that I went back to change into my swimsuit. The park's proximity to the town of Brookings is a bit of a mixed blessing. On the one hand, you are less than 5 minutes' drive to grocery stores, liquor stores, coffee shops, etc, which is great when you realize you forgot paper towels or are running out of eggs. (It also means you don't have to figure out how to buy & store food for 18 people for 4 days in one fell swoop.) On the other hand, sometimes this can make it feel like you're not *really* camping. We were there the weekend of the Pleiades, but there was too much light pollution for us to really see anything. Still, it was a great site with gorgeous scenery & I would recommend it to anyone. read more

We took a "no plan" vacation to Oregon and found this place at the end of our driving day. What a pleasant surprise! Clean facilities, very inexpensive camping fees, good oak wood bundles at a reasonable price, and free hot showers. The staff friendly in the way you hope a gracious host would be. The tent sites were very close together, but you hardly knew it because they are completely private surrounded by lush green trees and bushes. Very very quiet even with many friendly dogs. Nice clean rv campground, reasonable prices, close to town. Restrooms and showers clean and kept up. Reservations tough to get here for any decent length of time especially for us with a 30' tt, so disappointing to see tent campers taking up huge spots meant for RV's. We visited in April before the entire camp was available. Nice views and a nice beach. Was kinda loud our last night there, seems a very large group (~12+ people) came in with a trailer and stayed up til at 11pm making a ton of noise. But, regardless there are disrespectful people everywhere just wish the camp hosts would have addressed it. We liked it here anywhichway, so we will return. read more

We stayed in a yurt for 1 night at Harris Beach State Park in March. This was my first time on the Oregon coast and it was absolutely beautiful! Windy, but beautiful! We had a great time experiencing the rocky coast. I feel like the best part was a narrow (somewhat hidden) path up a boulder just off the actual path down to the water. We took the steep climb up the rock and ended up with a beautiful view and some beautiful photos. The only downside was how close it was to the 101; you could hear the traffic and the semis switching to a lower gear - at times it was loud/distracting. read more

If you like car camping, boy is there car camping. We pulled in here on a Monday night after 7 in October, and while there were plenty of open places to park, I mean camp, boy the campers were still out in force! Nevertheless, once you're ensconced in your spot, it's reasonably private from everyone else -- we picked a good one that had a little bit more space around it, in the "A" section. We didn't hear the wood processor people refer to, but I think that may be because we got in after dark so our main concern was just having a bit of a fire and then sleeping, and also because we were located very close to the campground entrance. The camp hosts were incredibly nice and it was nice to have super clean restrooms. We got up around 7 to hit the road, and the place was super quiet still -- maybe because it was in October so no kids, maybe because people in RVs just like to sleep in. My kinda people! Started the day with a stroll along the beach, which is gorgeous. Very good way to start the day. read more

The beach was absolutely breathtaking! Nothing that can be seen on the East Coast...well at least not in New Jersey! It was a bit windy which made it a bit too cold for me to consider a beach day, but there were plenty of people there enjoying their beach day! The seaweed that had washed up was incredible to see...so big! The water was cold, but bearable for me to put my feet in and walk along the water's edge. Wouldn't be able to go in it any further....I don't like the cold...but there were some kids going all the way in! They have a nice looking campground just walking distance from the beach....can't say more about it as we weren't using the the campground! Love that they allow dogs on the beach, and the ones we went across were very friendly. Would recommend this spot highly for anyone in the area! read more

This park is as good as it gets albeit the waters and temp are cooler than So. Cal. We stayed here two days and completely enjoyed our time here. There are several trails that lead you to the beach, which is about 10 mins away. The rocks and crags allow for some majestic views and the photos make anyone look like a professional. The rangers are friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is chill. read more

A perennial favorite! Not much to add to the other reviews that hasn't been said already. Fishing for surf perch on the beach is recommended in season. Local pizzeria Zola's is worth a visit, and the best fish and chips we've found are at Sebastian's. Both down by the harbor. Some sites, especially in the D-loop are pretty close to the 101, and there are trucks driving through the night which can be disturbing. Learn your favorite sites, and book ahead. Or, come in the off season/mid-week and pick and choose the site you like best! read more

I love this park. And the yurts! So cozy to have electric heat while you're (?) roughing it. And comfy beds! When we first moved to Or in 94 we came here to see the coast. I am impressed by the whole Oregon coast being undeveloped and opened to all. You can hear the waves crashing on the shore at night. Harris Beach is beautiful, My one complaint: Needs more garbage cans! I walk my dog there and always pickup her "leavings" and I'm forced to carry it around forever till I get all the way down to the public restrooms! I've never camped there I prefer the actual outdoors, there should be no pavement where you camp. Great spot for sunset, all around cool beach, sand, rocks, and a little bit of tide pools, great trails, and bike friendly, second most popular beach in town. read more

Harris Beach State Park - Perfect weather at the beach! - Parks Near Me - Brookings, Oregon

If you are very lucky, you can snag one of about four campsites with awesome ocean views. We weren't but our tent site (no hookups) did have a partial ocean view! The sites can vary greatly at this campground - we saw some with parking pads so small, it would be lucky for a Prius to fit in it but we continued to drive around to find the site we landed in that was very generous in size. You can make reservations at this park. There is a big difference in price for a tent site ($20) versus a full hookup (including sewer, which we did not need) for $30. Nice day use area with a beautiful beach (what Oregon coast beach is not beautiful?) and a great place to see a sunset (we took the Butte Trail for a high up view but I think I would have preferred being at beach level). Restrooms were clean with warm air dryers. I had read reviews that logging trucks from the nearby logging company were very noisy; we did not experience that but our site was closer to the ocean and there were sites that were closer to the highway. read more

I went camping here and may I just say, it was awful! The staff was incredibly rude and the noise made it so you could not sleep at night. We also brought our dog, which was allowed and apparently we couldn't even walk him around because, "He could bite somebody!" And my dog is the sweetest little guy and you could tell they played favorites. Apparently golden retrievers could walk around but my little black lab couldn't. I would not recommend going here. read more

My husband and I went on a weekend getaway without the kids. The campground is very nice and the rangers are VERY friendly and helpful. The restrooms/showers are very clean and well lit. I felt very safe in this park, there is just enough light in case you had to walk to the bathrooms at night, but not too much to bother you while you sleep. The beach is very nice and there are great tide-pools. There are two reasons why I did not give it 5 stars: #1~The beach is quite a hike, especially if you have little ones. There is another beach you can drive and park at, but it does not have as much dry/soft sand. #2: The sites are very small and really crammed next to each other. My husband and I walked around the entire campground and these are the sites I would recommend: A20 = This is the PERFECT spot for a small RV or trailer. It has a great ocean view and a nice size grassy area. B20 = This is a great spot for tent campers. It is very large. We walked by and there were at least 3, 10 person tents set up, with plenty of room to spare. If you are tent camping, I would not stay in any spot except for these: B9, C4, C29, D9, D11... the others are just too small... especially if you have kids. Upon arriving home, we immediatly booked a trip with our kids for this summer and can't wait to return. read more
