Harris going out of fashion which is why I shave my body completely for Barbi these days. My main experience with them is Sam Houston Tollway although I use plenty of others. Known as Belt 8, which is funny because I have about 8 just below my belt. Maybe it's named after me. I do live in Houston after all. And so would you, if you got to date the girl I get to date. I've given a lot of good roads a 4 star rating, and I'm going to give this one the "Sam." If the tolls were cheaper, or didn't slow me down as much, or non existent, it'd be a 5 star road - easily. The Sam Houston Tollway is a great road on so many levels. It should probably have more than two lanes for when it gets backed up, but most of the time it's nice and free-flowing because it is a toll road. It's great to have a toll road skirting the whole city because it means you can get around the suburbs very quickly - way better than you ever could before it was built. It was so damn necessary. On the other hand. The tolls are a little bit steep. So poor people are not going to want to pay for this road, but people who make a lot of money can easily afford it. I don't like that very much. Still, it's very well built and it successfully got us out of Bellaire on the night when the Hurricane Harvey was coming. We should have been trapped, and we weren't. Yay Belt 8. read more

tollway is pretty much a SCAM nowadays, too many people in houston so your experiencing traffic ON the tollway now ( lol ), and all these mysterious sneaky fees get tiresome. If you don't got an extra $5k laying around I'd suggest you stay far AWAY from these roads. I understand its a business & there's guidelines but it truly seems like these people don't care about you, but what's new? Horrible people. They built the West Park Tollway 24 ft. from my back door. No sound, visual wall to protect us from relentless semi-trucks along with everything else that comes by 24/7 365 days a year. They said they were going to get back to me with a sound analysis they had their engineers do, but now they, ( Allison Long) won't answer my calls or e-mails now. I received a letter from the Harris County Toll Road Authority that I owed a toll for blowing through their toll station in Houston. Problem is, I wasn't anywhere near Houston when they alleged that I drove through their toll road. The picture of the vehicle in the bill is not even of my car. The other car is a different make/model, color, with out of state license plates that are somewhat similar to mine. So in order to clear my name, I had to call them up, sit around on hold, got disconnected, sit around on hold some more, and explain to the unsympathetic operator that they were mistaken and I don't owe them anything. They got the wrong car! The operator saw the mistake, and removed the charge against me immediately. I feel like they should get an invoice for my time wasted trying to clear my name because of their screw up. This process of holding someone's freedom hostage with such little oversight seems immoral. What would have happened if I hadn't gotten the letter demanding money? I believe a warrant for my arrest would be issued. read more

What a frustrating dilemma... The Westpark Tollroad doesn't have a toll booth and is purely electronic so for someone who hasn't gotten an EZ card yet, you're going to get fined. My GPS gave me a route that said to go on the tolls and I just figured I could pay at a booth or they could bill me later (the way Dallas' North Tollway does), but instead, I get a violation at 2 different checkpoints. I have the option of having the fees waived IF I open an EZ tag account. But to order an EZ tag account, it costs $15 for an activation fee and $40 towards a pre-paid deposit that they withdraw your future tolls from. I'm not going to take this toll often so it doesn't really seem worth it to get the tag. Then I'm stuck paying $30 in fees. Come on... Why can't they just have a coin booth like every other toll road instead of fining people who don't have EZ cards? It's a nice tollroad cuz no one goes on it... that's the only reason i gave it 2 stars instead of 1. read more

Y'all need to make it a little more clear that the EZ tag mobile system is only good for 30 days. My husband got a notice in the mail and called and only then was informed of the policy. He had to pay $15 anyway. Now we're just waiting for another notice in the mail because he knows he's gone through more tolls than just three even though there was cash on his account. Which did no good because it was past 30 days. Y'all can't expect people not from around here to know about this especially when we don't drive tolls that often. And when we do, we just flash our military ID and they let us through. Incredibly stupid. read more

I have a TXTag account. My credit card was stolen and cancelled. Not thinking about it I didn't realize my TXTag account was on that card until I received a letter in the mail from Harris Co. Ft Bend Co. and EZTag saying I owed them for my tolls. It was about 10 business days later when I got my new card and updated/corrected my account and filed a dispute saying I would be happy to pay the tolls owed but I wasn't paying $150+ in fees. Life happens, that's just roadside robbery. Never received anything back and kept calling sat on hold for 20 minutes and hung up, then sending letters to have someone call me and explaining the situation. 6 months later I received a response saying I waited too long to take care of it and there's nothing they can do.. I FILED A DISPUTE 2 WEEKS AFTER MY CARD WAS STOLEN.... what? Now I'm sitting on hold yet again, 12min so far.... This is ridiculous. If I could avoid toll roads I would but they're making it pretty impossible now. read more

Very small office which was difficult to locate. It is actually right next to the toll lanes which I did not understand from the GPS directions. Other toll offices I had been to were in an office building so that is what I was looking for. Once I found it the lady that helped me was super friendly and gave great customer service. I was charged a violation for pulling a trailer. I did not know that they trailer had to be registered with HCTRA. The truck that was pulling the trailer has a valid EZTag. I get a notice today from a collection agency charging me 90.75 for a violation that I knew nothing about. Apparently happened 3 months ago. I explain the situation and although the young lady was very pleasant they can do NOTHING about it because it was referred to collection. I NEVER received a statement about this ever or I would have called them. I am a good standing customer with 2 current EZTags on my 2 vehicles. This is insane and I am very angry. Someone in the HCTRA office could have helped me and waved these ridiculous fees but no one will. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! read more

Completely wonderful experience in our time of need!! Run out of diesel on Katy Tollway and Mr Mark Birdsall came from the HCTRA incident response team came and rescued us!! Towed us to a gas station and stayed and helped my husband get it restarted!! Ended up using a can of starter fluid that he had handy in his truck!! Me Birdsall went above and beyond the help us!!! Thank you so very much!! And no charge for all this service!! Wow!! read more

HCTRA redefines poor customer service. Go with TXTag instead. HCTRA's retail centers are visiting the DMV back in the 1970s complete with long lines, surly government employees, and needlessly complex paperwork and processes. Its web site is poorly designed and awkward to use. But it is the telephone support that truly sets a new low. Wait times in excess of 30 minutes are the norm and you have, at best, a 50% chance of finding a knowledgable or helpful person on the other end. Why even bother to contact them? Because they frequently charge erroneous violation fees that can only be contested via phone or in person. Adding insult to injury, they charge $15 per toll tag (plus, of course, the associated fees)! We have switched to TXTag which works on all the Houston-area tollways. The Tags are free (so long as you are on autopay), they answer the phone within 2-3 minutes, and their web site (while not great) is at least functional. read more

Horrible, venal entity. Inadvertently wound up on toll roads while visiting family near Houston. Was mailed one statement according to their online records, which I never received, and the next month received notification account had been sent to collections?!? When I called to contest, was told nothing can be done because it was already in collections. Approximately $170 in "collection fees" over a $9 bill which I would have paid promptly if the statement had been received. Terrible "customer service." read more

I had an EZTag that my boyfriend paid for. When we broke up, he said he would keep me on his account. Unbeknownst to me, he took me off so I was going through the tolls for about 3 1/2 months thinking that my tag was getting dinged. Instead of sending a bill for a few times, the HCTRA waited until I racked up $166.75 in tolls- okay, no big deal. It's my bill, I would pay that! However, they tacked on $1,221 in fees, expecting me to pay 1,387.75. I think I'm still in shock that they think it is okay to wait for months before sending me these invoices for three violations per bill ($11 fee per violation, so $33 in fees per every 2-5 dollars in tolls). Wow, Harris County. Is money really that hard to come by that you must scam your constituents and the citizens you are supposed to serve? Wow. read more

This place has the worst customer service. The leaders of this facility do not care about servicing customers. It is purely a business that will only stay operational because of the people that use the roadways. There is a complete disregard for the customer. Every mistake that is made when you deal with this company is the customer's fault. The supervisor team seems to be well trained to give the corporate answer of "you should not assume that your payment method was updated even though we updated the other one that was in the same envelope. It is your fault Mr. Customer." It is a shame to make your customers pay fees that your business should make right. A few reduction is not the answer for a customer who has paid on time for 4 years and the only misstep was that the HCTRA did not update one of the accounts from the mailed in information. read more

Absolutely crazy... I have had an EZ tag forever. The card expired 3-23-16, I did not realize this till a week later when they sent me an email. I updated the card info 3-31-16 and went on with my life. Then 6-16-16 I get an invoice from a law firm collecting for HCTRA in the amount of $81 for using the tollway 3 times before my CC info was updated. What??? I updated my account info within a week, why did you not bill be for the tolls right then??? This makes no sense... Again, my CC info expired... I used the tollway 3 times, was notified of the violation, corrected the problem all within 1 week, you did not run the 3 violations through my account but instead wait 3 months and go to an outside firm to collect 80 bucks...thats robbery and very poor operation of a business! read more

Greedy for money. I had an active EZ tag account for six years and they charged me almost $90.00 for less than $9.00 in tolls. The vehicle was not in my possession at the time, unlawfully taken from me. I provided a notarized letter that I sent to the person in August 2018 but because the toll violations happened in May and the letter did not list the actual dates the car was gone; they would not accept. After over 5 phone conversations with said supervisors I was able to get charges reduced to $57.35 which is a rip off because I am currently paying about $45 dollars a month in regular usage in which I have done for six years. But customer loyalty doesn't matter one bit to these people. And I had also already purchased an eztag for that vehicle, but was not active at the time because I had purchased a new vehicle and was not driving it. I deactivated the account because the car was parked, until it had been taken. Called and talked to supervisors but all they could say was I am as sorry it is still your responsibility. I am moving soon and will not be using their service. They also back the billing up and late bill you so they can take $40 from your account; even if its their fault. I sware they make their money off of us the citizens but try and screw us every chance they get. read more

Worst customer service and biggest rip-off. You sign up, and they send you an email saying that you can use their lanes "complementary" up to 45 days until you receive the actual package which is supposed to arrive in 3-5 days. But after using their lanes; as their email recommended, they decided to fine me for toll violations saying that my account did not have a car linked. How retarded is that; when you go through the application process, you inevitably put in your license plate number; if their system did not save it, that should not be on me. When my EZ tag package did not arrive like 10 days later; I emailed them and never got a response (not in my inbox nor my spam), but when I called about it they claimed that they had written back to me. And oh, the word complementary has a different meaning for them - apparently it does not mean free. They have the worst customer support ever, and you won't get anywhere with them because they have no competitors. I am trying to go through their website to file a complaint or something, but there is no such option. This is the worst review I've ever given anything. read more
