They came out and did the work but seems pretty high for a simple fix. What was worrying was the techs comments about my sports team memorabilia in the basement. I know it's hard to believe, because the majority of the people in philadelphia have never left philadelphia , but other parts of the country and world exist and people are from there. Highly recommend! Just moved into our new home after relocating from Pittsburgh and our water heater stopped working. Called Harris frantically at 8 PM on a Wednesday and they were able to send someone out by 9 AM the next day. New water heater installed with hot water by 4:30 PM. Couldn't have asked for better service - Paul Kenny was thorough and communicated the entire process from start to finish. We will be doing our preventative maintenance with them as well as they offer an affordable maintenance plan that includes HVAC, well water filtration, water softener, and water heater services. Watch out for shady pricing policies and trying to lock you in to a yearly plan. I had worked with Harris for years and was impressed by the quality and customer service. They replaced two full HVAC units for us and we used them for any plumbing or heating projects we had, until now. Their tech signed us up last year for a service program to offer some savings off a project (Great so far). Suddenly this year we get an automated renewal charge. As soon as we noticed the renewal charge we called them up and let them know we were never informed about an automated renewal and that we'd like the charge removed. The first customer service agent was helpful, apologized, said she would cancel it and then called back later confirming. Great customer service, but the charge was still on our card so I called back and now I'm getting the run around. For the history of quality customer service I had received over the past several years, I was shocked. It made me look back and question what other questionable pricing strategies they are hiding. The last visit they had to service our equipment the tech recommended $300+ of repairs for a unit that was only a year old that they had installed. Harris replaced my cast iron waste pipe after it had failed. Harry Mecouch was the lead guy on the team of four men. All were personable and professional. Harry kept me informed on the progress. They were knowledgeable about the job and respectful of my home. It was a challenging job as they had to remove the reinforced thick cement slab encasing the pipe. I requested service for a few items in my home in preparation for selling it soon. I did a Google search, and after liking what I read online, I contacted Harris. I got an appointment in a timely manner. When my technician, Scott Childs, arrived, he was very polite and personable. Before entering the house, he put on shoe covers. I explained what needed to he done, and Scott got right to work. He was able to successfully mount a kitchen ceiling fan/light, install a new bedroom outlet that has been a pain since we moved in 4 years ago, fixed a wall switch so it wasn't "backwards" - meaning when the switch is up it's off, down is on. Now it's right! And he fixed an outdoor lamppost that wasn't working. I am VERY pleased with the quality of work. It was pricey, but worth every penny. The best review I could give this company is no review at all, which was what I initially intended. However, my repeated phone calls with requests to speak to a manager have been ignored. So I am turning to the almighty review as my only recourse. We hired Harris to install a new hot water heater and expansion tank. The estimate process was great and I was talked into a "Happy Home Membership". I was told it was $100 a year, but when I received the invoice, it was $119. Okay, not a big deal. But I did have to ask twice for the invoice. On the morning of installation day, I took our dog to day camp early and rushed home. Start time was 9am. No one arrived or called. At 10am I called the main number. I was told it appeared our tech was "just getting his day started". Really??? I was put through to dispatch for an ETA. No one answered. By 11am, with still no word from anyone, I called again. I was told our tech had called out a short time ago. At this point I was angry and frustrated and asked to speak to a manager to cancel the job and for my money back. This was unacceptable. I was told someone would get back to me. An hour later I received a call that they could get someone out later that day and give me $50 off the expansion tank. I was not really satisfied with this offer, but agreed, just to be done with it. I received a text at 12:37pm that "Anthony" was on his way. By 3:30, when no one had arrived, I called yet again. I was told he was 45 minutes away. It was not until 5:30 pm that he arrived. Five hours after the text. By now our dog was back home and we had to keep her locked in the bedroom. Anthony installed our hot water heater, but he did not leave until 9:30pm. Fours hours. Which means our dog was locked up for four hours. I lost my entire day dealing with Harris. And the expansion tank was still not installed, so I had to deal with this again in a few days. Fast forward to expansion tank installation day. Took our dog to day camp again. Another expense. "Patrick" called to tell me he was on his way and arrived within 45 minutes of his call. So far, so good. He was very nice, but appeared a bit stumped by our pipes and connections and spent quite a bit of time looking and saying, "Hmmmmm". After attempting to do the calculations, he ended up having to "phone a friend" (no one at Harris) to ask what size expansion tank we would need. I was told he was an "HVAC" guy. This is what he did. Why couldn't he figure it out? My confidence level dropped. I was getting a bad feeling again. He ended up recommending we hold off on a new expansion tank. So I asked if he could just bleed the radiators, check the pressure, and look at a toe kick heater in the kitchen that was not coming on. He took care of the radiators without a problem, but could not get the toe kick heater to work. I ended up calling our old plumber and he walked Patrick through it. Our charge for this service call was $387. No discount, but he told me he waived the $69 service fee. The next day I called Harris yet again. I asked for my $119 "Happy Home Membership" to be refunded, as we would never be using Harris' services in the future. Again, I asked to speak to a manager. I was told "Sarah" would call me to discuss my options, but to give her 24-48 hours, as she had other things she was working on. Other disgruntled customers maybe? And I did not want to discuss options. I wanted my money back. It has been six days. No response. So this is my story and I'm sure you understand why I took the time to share it. So Harris, if you lose even one customer because of my review, you will lose a lot more than the $119 I asked for. read more

First, Sean turned off my water softener and told me it was BROKEN because salt hadn't been put in for a period of time. We put in salt, then he tested the water and told me that the water was not being softened at all. Then he tried to sell me a new softening system. This was a fairly new system and something didn't feel right in my gut. I had to call another plumber to come out and tell me that the clock wasn't set on the panel, so the softer was just sitting idle. He set the timer, tested my water and said that it was softening just fine. I will never use Harris again. read more

Harris came out Friday after getting a quote from Horizon. The Horizon tech had told us we needed a new central air unit. This tech was in my house for 30 minutes. After he left I called Harris Plumbing, heating and air conditioning, Sal Foglia S09 came, looked at our unit and within 10 minutes, Sal said we needed a new starter, NOT AN ENTIRE UNIT!!!!! Keep in mind our air conditioner died on the hottest day of the year! Our house was 90 degrees and my husband is disabled with heart failure! We were thrilled to only pay $539.00!! Harris completely miscommunicates and overcharges customers! The issue I had with a panel was worked on by Kevin Lozada (who was a nice enough person), but the problem persisted thereafter. Another technician from Harris was sent to my home the next day, who then said that the problem was not fixed, but the correct fix was a $30K+ higher project (to gut the entire house and rewire). When I complained about why I was charged to a Manager named Eric, he gave me the runaround about the definitions they use internally of 'minor diagnoses.' Bottom line is - I was charged $351 for someone to step inside my home after 6mins and whatever work was done, did not work! Eric refused to provide a credit, a refund, let alone an apology! I asked him to respect the initial rating I gave, and he wouldn't even do that. He told me he would have someone email me so I can file a complaint. I told him that the reason I asked him/a Mgr to call me in the first place is to express my complaint. I eventually had to hang up because he was wasting my time trying to explain that he cannot do anything to help without admitting it. Consumers beware- find a local electrician who is interested in solving the problem rather than trying to sell a service warranty program. read more
