Harris Teeter is the best grocery store I've found. This location has an excellent produce department and the people that work at the seafood counter are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I love the wide range of organic/healthy/international/cool stuff I can find when I wander the aisles. This location is several miles from where I live and really not on my way home from work, but I order my groceries online and pick them up from the express lane when I get to the store. I know I am saving time and money doing this, because I only order exactly what I need and there's no impulse buying. I love it that HT doubles and sometimes triples coupons. This HT is one of the best in Charleston. It's large and very clean (even given the issue the produce department had to deal with by that disgruntled past worker). There's also a Starbucks inside which is convenient. They're remodeling and have added additional stations near the the deli department. Why is it that this place is just so darn awesome, every single time I shop there? Wow! I have been to five different locations and I'm blown away at how helpful and friendly the staff are at this one in particular. I went to the 24 hour location downtown and even though it was nearly midnight, the staff were also quite friendly and helpful. When I ask Harris Teetor staff for help, it doesn't matter what it is I'm asking for, the employee will go above and beyond to find a resolution for me. I have never heard a staff person say "oh that's not my department, I'm sorry I can't help you". Quite the opposite! They try and find what it is I'm looking for with me or they will recruit the help of another staff member and together we find the item or something that will satisfy my inquiry. Everyone that works in the stores seem to genuinely enjoy what they're doing and there's always an easy-going feel and friendly vibe. I love how the aisles are laid out. The lighting is really eyeball-friendly, if that makes sense. The aisles are always very clean and the shelves are well faced and well stocked. Even the way items are priced makes sense. The sales tickets are easy to understand. There's no guessing. Holy moly! The fresh produce and variety is outstanding! It's hard to walk away from the items without shopping like crazy. Sometimes I find it's a little bit congested in the location on Savannah highway in the produce section, but that's mostly due to shoppers' carts being left in the aisles. There's a really decent selection of wine, spirits, and beer. And it seems there's always a sale or feature item in the centre carts of the booze section. The deli, Asian, pizza, bread and salad bar areas are fantastic. Lots of variety, samples and so clean. Today I randomly asked for hot chicken fingers because there weren't any ready. Staff member Isaac (and another gent, didn't get his name) went out of their way to ask the deli to put some through the cooker for me. Ready to go in 20 minutes while I shopped for other things! Now that's customer service! When I did the self check out, which in any store always seems to cause an issue or challenge, the attendant was super friendly and helping me and making sure that I got a discount on a particular item. The parking area is very well laid out, clean and the shopping carts are also always easy to find and on hand. There never seems to be a problem in finding a place to park. I think there's even a drive up spot where you can order your groceries online and pick them up. Not a service I've ever used but I reckon it's super convenient for people who do like or rely this kind of thing. There is also a Starbucks on site if you want to grab a coffee and a snack while you shop. It's not uncommon for me to see random acts of kindness, staff members greeting shoppers on a first name basis, and staff members thanking customers for shopping and bidding them a good day/week at this location. Such a small town feel! The main reasons we do not shop at this store on a regular basis is because it's a little far from our house and we are military, therefore we can shop at the base commissary tax-free. Comparatively speaking, cost-wise, we think that shopping at Harris Teeter is competitive with other major grocery stores in the area. But if you're looking for top notch customer service and an almost perfect record as far as positive experiences, this particular Harris Teeter location is pretty much unbeatable. read more

I am happy to update this review of Harris Teeter. Over the past few months, I have had consistently great experiences in all areas of the store. The food is fresh, the store is organized, and the employees are usually very kind and helpful. What is keeping HT from 5 stars? The kid carts that take up the entire aisle are absurd and to make matters worse the online order carts now take up even more space! Being from Massachusetts, it's hard to find a grocery store that has everything and in a place that is easy to find. Harris Teeter is probably my favorite place to shop now that I live in Charleston. It has all my needs from a great variety of fresh fruits and veggies to great selection of delicious breads from the bakery and all your needs in between. Can't forget the beer and wine of every kind which, coming from Massachusetts, is a great because it is one less stop you have to make for those weekend plans! This is the second Harris Teeter I've been to in Charleston, and surprisingly no one has asked me if I'd like one of their Vic Cards.

The online shopping is the best invention ever. I can shop in my jammies before work and go straight to the store before I come home. The staff is always friendly. My personal favorite Teeter location in Charleston. Traffic can be miserable during rush hour, but the selection here is better than downtown, and they always have a really great flower section. They also have a pizza booth, which is fantastic (or awful, depending on your diet) for afternoon shopping. At only ~$2 a slice, it's a steal! Try the mediterranean. read more

It should be illegal to charge money for the Pizza they make here. After trying it for a 3rd time it's still booty hole. I will say, after trying it for the third time I was delighted to find a hair in one of the slices I purchased. Save your money. Go get some real pizza somewhere else. read more

Sweetest employees. Also they have EVERYTHING. Large varieties of food (Go down the cereal isle) and health/beauty products. Lots of Burt's Bee's products, and other natural healthcare and beauty products that I have only been able to find online. I'm not from the area, but anyone from Georgia and other states that go to Kroger, they are owned by the same company and you can use your Kroger card/alternative ID (Phone number) and get the special deals and ring up points. Not sure if they have gas stations associated with them, but It wouldn't hurt to check. read more

I usually don't do sushi/rolls. I was browsing today and liked the look of one but it didn't have tuna -which I was looking for. The sushi chef Kam insisted on making me a special roll that wasn't on the regular menu of offerings. It's so rare to encounter someone that goes out of their way like Kam did. I hate writing negative reviews. However, the last two visits have not been what I consider good customer service. I was in the produce aisle and two employees were chatting about their home life. There were bad bananas and not once was I asked if I needed help. The second time was the 24 of May and the only person to greet or help me was a bagger/cart returner named Allen. He was awesome. I felt bad because he was getting carts by himself and all the cart bins were full. I insisted to help him. He kept telling me he was alright, but it was hot and it looked like he needed the help. Anyways, being in customer service myself I think they need to step it up! read more

I shop later than most but at a 24 hour store it shouldn't be a problem. But here you must check yourself out even if two or three employees are standing around. They won't open a check out lane unless you pressure them. I don't work here but I have no choice but to ring up and bag my own stuff while watch me. I recently ordered from the HT express for the first time. What an awesome service, right?! I pulled in, had my groceries loaded, showed him my debit card like he asked for, and signed showing I received my items on a Tuesday afternoon. Although most of my items were what I asked for I had 2 bags of expired and rotten green beans (not a huge deal but an inconvenience as I now had to return to a store the day before thanksgiving). I happened to check my online banking Wednesday morning and noticed a duplicate charge for my almost $300 worth of groceries. I called and spoke to a manager who assured me she would correct it and one of the pending charges would not process. Thursday I check again and both charges had cleared. I called back and spoke to another manager and accounting and was assured that a refund had been processed the day prior and would show up today (Friday) on my end. Friday (shopping day!) and no refund. I called my bank and they said it was processed yesterday (Thursday, not Wednesday as previously told) and would not clear my account until tomorrow. This is unacceptable. I have a car payment coming out of my account today and now will forfeit my $300 for Black Friday shopping due to Harris teeters mistake. I've been a loyal HT shopper as I did feel it's the best grocery store in town. They offered me a $50 visa gift card today, but this is nothing compared to the trouble I've been through because of THEIR MISTAKE and I am still $300 short. Updated/edited 11/30- I did finally receive my refund to my account, but not without causing lots of headaches on my end. read more

The Harris Teeter at Kiawah Island is fantastic! They have an outstanding deli with very good take home meals that have a restaurant quality. The fish and seafood area is wonderful. They have fresh, local selections. The people are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. We are so glad they are part of Freshfield Village!
