I have been a loyal customer at Harris Teeter for the past 9 years, and my husband has been shopping here for about 20 years since he moved to Charlotte. We have always loved this store and have written positive reviews about it before. Yesterday March 8, 2026 at 6:20 PM, I stopped by to buy a tiramisu for my family. I used the self-checkout and paid for my item as usual. In all the years I've been shopping here, no one has ever asked me for my receipt when leaving the store, and I've never seen other customers being asked either. As I was leaving, there were several people walking out at the same time. The security guard (a white, bald man who looked to be in his 50s) stopped only me and aggressively asked to see my receipt. When I asked why, he simply said, "Because I want to see your receipt." I showed it to him and left. However, I felt very uncomfortable about the situation. After getting to my car, I decided to go back and observe for a few minutes. During that time, several other people left through the self-checkout area, and the security guard did not stop or ask a single one of them for a receipt. I approached him again and told him I felt offended that I was the only person being asked. He said it was part of his job and told me to speak with a manager if I had a problem. Even while we were talking, people were leaving the store and he did not ask any of them for their receipts. I spoke with a manager who was kind and listened to my concern. I explained that I have been a long-time customer and shop here regularly for my family. As a Black woman, being singled out like that felt very upsetting and unfair. The manager told me the security staff are managed by a different company and that she will speak with the person responsible. If checking receipts is store policy, then it should be applied to everyone equally not just one person. No customer should feel targeted when they have done nothing wrong, especially because of their skin color. This experience was very disappointing, which is why I'm leaving a 1-star review. I truly hope the store addresses this so other customers do not have the same experience. read more

WOW! This was my very first visit to any Harris Teeter grocery store. I was completely impressed with the store. I know that fruits and vegetables are so nice in North Carolina. This grocery store has so many beautiful fruits and vegetables! Gorgeous displays of amazing variety of everything. The entire grocery store is beautiful with an incredible selection of every kind of food you could imagine. All sorts of varieties. I had originally gone in there because I was traveling and I had forgotten my hair supplies. I went in there to buy some hair and make up items and couldn't believe how gorgeous it was. I got everything I needed for my hair and make up and some wonderful food products as well. They have self check out and regular check out. Harris Teeter usually has very fresh produce! It's like the Chick-fil-A of grocery stores. This location in particular is always clean & shelves are normally fully stocked. Their store brand Turkey bacon is literally top TWO when it comes to good quality and flavor. This is one item that's hard to come by but when it's in stock, we like to rack up! They are priced higher that other grocery stores like Walmart or Food Lion but there's a few items I like to buy from HT. read more

I stopped in at Harris Teeter while staying nearby for business. I hadn't been to a Harris Teeter before but they seem to be a staple in the area. The entrance was nice and clean with the familiar grocery store layout. Fresh produce, bakery, deli sections all located around the perimeter with the rest in the center aisles. I did find a decent selection of plant based meat alternatives here but they seemed a little pricier than normal for me. I got some fresh veggies and hummus along with a few other things and used the self checkout. I found what I needed quickly and was on my way. What can I say, this Harris Teeter is lit! I am referring to the parking lot ha ha ha! I always feel safe coming here for late night snacks. The parking lot and gas station are perfectly lit for late night shoppers like myself. I've never had a bad experience. This location is clean, safe and the staff is nice. Personally, I love using the app to scout great deals on products. The inventory is pretty accurate which is nice. Here's a fun fact! For each product you select, the aisle number will appear. Cool right? Of course you can use the online shopping expresslane checkout, I haven't tried this feature yet. There's a great selection of local beer and wine available, along with malt beverages and mixers. You can build your own six pack for $10.99. Last year I discovered the $2.99 Oak Creek wines, cheap but delicious! I'll admit some products are more pricey compared to other stores, but sometimes you have to splurge on your favorite Jalapeño Cheddar bread that's $5.49. I know, I know! $5.49 for a loaf of bead? Why Shay? Whyyyy?!! It's sooo worth it!!! Side note there are half loafs available for a cheaper price. I've seen this area develop a lot, I really like this HT location. This is Harris Teeter is a huge disappointment. Every time we walk in it is consistently dirty, items we look for are out of stock, and what check out lines they have open are too long and it forces you through self checkout. This last visit, we called ahead asking if they have helium and if they would blow up balloons we had ordered online for a themed party. After two calls to the store, their floral associate finally answered and said yes they would blow them up and yes they could be from outside the store. We arrived, waited at the floral area, never acknowledged by any employee that walked by, there was no employee in produce. We asked an employee for help and she used the intercom and finally an employee came to the floral department said, no "we won't do that" and just walked away. I was so excited to try the salad bar at the HT nearby my job. As I'm eating my salad I tasted grainy substance, started to pick through salad and realized there's dirt in the spinach. I'm always in Harris teeter it's where I do all of my grocery shopping.The food is always fresh and the entire store is just refreshing to walk around in.$5 Fridays in the deli is where you can find me on Fridays lol , where u can get a fresh foot long sub made on Fridays for only $5!!! The bread is really soft and fresh along with all the ingredients and toppings.Every time I go in Harris teeter I can't leave without getting a few of the sparkling ice flavored waters as pictured in my photos. Hard to believe they are actually good for you and full of vitamins I couldn't believe it myself if you're a person who it's hard for you to drink water buy those brands and they have tons of flavors no sugars no calories no nothing just straight up and down vitamins and they are only 99 cents if you don't believe me go to Harris teeter and see for yourself and thank me later!! read more

I've shopped here many times on a regular basis and it's been pretty good, but this particular time I had a huge problem with one of the associates there. I understand that it is near closing time( an hour before) and everyone is ready to go home, but that honestly doesn't matter because every customer should be treated with respect. My sister and I was going through self checkout and a message popped up that we needed help from an associate, So an associate named Ray came over. He seemed like he didn't know what to do, so my sister( a former associate of HT) told him he needed to put his cashier number in. He exploded and was VERY rude. It is absolutely ridiculous that an employee can act like this with customers. I've never had an experience like this at Harris Teeter. Ray was very unprofessional and should be either fired or retrained. read more

Telling this to our Community and Neighborhood HOAs, so our neighbors are aware Harris Teeter does not care about our lives, or the spread of COVID-19. Have shopped here for years, but family and I will not set foot in here again. Harris Teeter refuses to enforce Covid mask protections, despite it being State Mandated Law and having signs out. I'm a husband with immune issues, confronted two other men (out of three maskless guys just between Customer Service and the Bakery), who told me to "mind my business", despite explaining about people like me. One was actively getting pizza by the open station while being served by staff. I found and explained all this to the Store Director, expecting support for our Community Health. They did not. I pointed out that it is State Law, and they have signs up that people have to wear masks. Director said it's HT Policy to "recommend" not reenforce the Mask Law. Glad to know we can pick and choose what laws we obey, and profits are more important than health and life. Us, our neighbors, our neighborhood, and the two large HOAs we are a part of will be made well aware of this blatant, callous, and ugly disregard for the safety of their (former) customers. read more

I love this store! One of my excitements moving down to Charlotte was knowing I'd be grocery shopping here. I fell in love with the store years ago when I'd visit my father in Alexandria. He told me we had to go. It's just as great as I remember it. Yes, they're a little overpriced from some other grocers, but if you shop right using your VIC card, watching for sales and coupons on their app, you're in the ballpark. That alone with the store being extremely clean and some of the samples they give out are outstanding. I have Publix nearby and could go to Food Lion or Bi Lo, but the quality is so much better than those stores. PLUS, I used to get my sandwiches at Publix, but recently tried at Harris Teeters and it was just as good if not better at a better price. read more

It is new and shiny and has some perks that my usual HT lacks (I am looking at you trail mix bar). I went somewhat early one weekend morning and my shopping experience was lackluster. First - while there is a huge amount of variety but some of the shelves with the weekly deals were empty or sparse. I went early in the morning which is a time I would have expected the store to be stocked. Second - there were no staff members to be found to ask where to find specific items. I even had another shopper stop me to ask where I found something in my cart since she had been looking and couldn't find it or anyone else to ask. Third - one of the biggest reasons I was unimpressed with this store was the self-checkout. Each item I scanned had a long winded speech after it "twelve ninety nine - discount 2 dollars - new total ten ninety nine!" This got old fast. My usual HT does not make such a production of each item. The worst part was attempting to use a coupon at the end. Apparently the self- checkout does not allow shoppers to use coupons themselves. Since there was no one assigned to the self-checkout area I stood in front of a machine yelling "help is on the way!" for several minutes while I waited on the lone worker who was checking people out a few lanes over. There was no option to cancel and just pay the extra 75 cents and move on with my life. read more

This is a pretty standard Harris Teeter. It's nice that it's open 24/7. It's not usually very crowded either. If you go during core hours, make sure to get the free samples. They usually have fruit, deli meat, cheese, a bakery item, and a bread/spread. The bread is made fresh every day and is delicious. They always pair it with great spreads too. This Harris Teeter is right around the corner from my house so of course I'm always there. I love the fact that I have a great grocery store so close to me. I do the online shopping a lot which makes things convenient for me. I never had any issues with it really until today when they gave me the wrong seasoning that I ordered and also forgot to give me my rotisserie chicken but I was charged for it. However, as soon as I called the store the manager, Alan, quickly apologized and offered to deliver the chicken and correct seasoning to my house. I don't know any other grocery store that would have done this and I greatly appreciate it. Just another reason I love my neighborhood Harris Teeter! read more

If I could give this location 0 stars I would. I will never go back here. My husband and I just left this location and had the worst experience. We were looking for the toothpaste that was on sale 10/10 and the Palmolive dish detergent so that we could catch the deal they are currently running however while we were looking for our items the employees followed us around the store like we were stealing. I mean every isle that we went on the same employee would show up and just stare at every move we made. Then they followed us out the store. I have never been profiled like that in my life and it was the worst feeling. This is not okay. If you think someone is doing something wrong pull them aside or call the authorities. I give them 5 stars because they have awesome sales. Not a store I would typically do a big grocery shopping in, but when soda is typically buy two get three free or when pasta is on sale it's hard to pass them up. It really pays to be an evic member as well. I love their fresh meat and seafood department. It's great to have them right here in Berewick, because when I need to pick up a gallon of milk or a few ingredients to complete dinner it's really nice having them in the neighborhood. I was so excited to have a Harris Teeter in walking distance to my home. I have always been a customer of the Rivergate HTC before this location was built. However I have lots of complaints for this location. I am gluten free, first of all, so I eat lots of fresh salads. I was devastated where I walked in this store. The salad sucks. I was use to getting cubed ham, boiled eggs cut up, and my favorite, bread and butter pickles, for my salad. This location NEVER has any of those items. Also my roomates love love love the daily sub deals and visit quite frequently. The service staff in the deli is the slowest at everything they do. We waited on 2 people to make 2 subs for 20 minutes....it seems my roomate gets a different staff everytime she comes and still waits 20 minutes everytime. Last time by the time the 2nd sub was made, the first one was cold....it was a hot sub. Anytime visiting your bakery dept I waited on a cup of icing for 30 minutes. Me being gluten free I always only get icing. While waiting on this staff person to get my icing another staff person was assisting another customer at the deli and saw the staff come from mopping to offer her samples of meat with dirty gloves...the customer by the way informed Manager whom did nothing. She waited about 20 minutes for her 1/2 lb of meat. Needless to say I am and I'm sure many others are dissatisfied with the overall everything of this location.
