After a bad experience at the East Blvd location I made my way to this location. This store is larger than the other location and well organized, staffed and stocked. There was a long line at the prepared food area but the line was smooth and moving fast. I was instructed on making sure I put my meal deals in the correct bag and my family was assisted by numerous associates. I had to tell them several times we (my family) were all together. Everyone wanted to help. They were out of the Brussels sprouts but it didn't even matter after all the assistance we were given. I was starving so I grab some of the cranberry chicken salad and crackers to snack on. It was so tasty. I didn't walk the whole store but I liked what I saw. I picked up a Too Good To Go bakery package from this location. The variety of bakery food was great and well worth the cost. Sonya that worked there was really helpful and considerate. Peter the cashier on the other hand was not. He noticed that I was walking towards him fir assistance and he quickly turn away from me. I still went over and he greeted me...what you need...! I ordered a dozen roses for my mother's birthday this morning since I couldn't be there to celebrate last week. I placed the order when I was back in town, and the delivery went smoothly, so I assume they prepared everything on time. The roses were mostly good quality, though a few seemed like they were starting to wilt--though I guess that's just the nature of roses. I'm a huge fan of The Fresh Market...but for years (decades?), I've been just going to the one on Pineville-Matthews Road. Little did I know that the one on Providence Road is SO much nicer...and bigger! Walking distance from the Strawberry Hill strip, this location only lets shoppers with masks enter...a definite A-Plus in my book. Once in, the place looked squeaky clean, and every single person - customers and employees alike - was masked. THANK YOU for being a smart, conscientious business, helping to prevent the spread of this God-awful virus...and saving lives!! At the more ordinary groceries like Harris Teeter, Walmart and Food Lion, it seems at least 1 out of 3 people walk around carelessly unmasked. Once again, The Fresh Market proves that it's class act even in this regard! Now the store itself. I was quite impressed with the spacious set-up... very easy to shop, and easy on the eye! As a fan of breads and pastry, I was mesmerized by their lofty selection ...just WOW. I picked up a few of my faves, their French Vanilla Loaf (YUM!!!), Blueberry Scones and Wafer Cookies...for my boys, as well as for myself. I also noticed that this location has a good selection of wine and beer ...and gorgeous flowers!! Also love their signature classical music that's played overhead. I would have loved to have spent more time here, but I was running several errands around town, so had to run out rather quickly. Am so glad I decided to check out this particular chain of The Fresh Market. Again, I must say this is probably my fave grocery chain in town (possibly even more than Whole Foods?). Fantastic food and beer and wine! The redone Fresh Market off Prov rd is bigger and better! They have a more spacious build and updated look. The staff has been helpful and kind. I got wonderful pastries, cheese, beer and wine. I love to find new favorite desserts like the pumpkin tea cakes! And the fabulous brownie bites. I used to shop at this location all the time. Never again. I had money stolen from an associate at this location. I believe it was the manager, Brandon Robinson. I accidentally left my clutch with contained my wallet, AirPods, chapstick, etc in it. When I called the store I talked to an associate Alex whom Brandon told that my belongings were found outside (a lie) and a customer turned it in (also a lie). When I arrived at the store immediately upon having the clutch handed to me I checked inside, all the cash inside was gone. I immediately brought this to the associate Alex's attention hoping to get a description of the person who turned it in and file a police report. Alex then called Brandon on speaker phone who told him that he doesn't remember what the person looked like and went to confidently say " oh no there was no money in there." (lie #3). Alex then gets the manager on duty who tells me what I knew, that it was left in the freezer section (where I left the hand basket as soon as I saw they were out of a few things I needed). She also tells me once they find things they put it in the safe immediately. I then ask "well how can Brandon confidently say what is or is not in there" and the associate Alex agrees with me saying he was thinking the same thing. I have shown them my empty wallet. Today I get a call from the regional manager, Mark Nyquist (sp?) who says he has been doing "investigating" and that another manager can confirm there was money in there and Brandon only said he found it in the parking lot because that's where things are usually found and he only said that there wasn't money in there because he didn't know what else to say. WTF? Not only now do I have an associate who went through my bag and saw money and another one who went through my bag and allegedly didn't see money. I now have the REGIONAL MANAGER telling me that the store manager only lied because "he didn't know what else to say" and there's nothing he can do even though this story OBVIOUSLY doesn't add up. The one that is certain and that Mark confirmed to me is that nobody besides people who work here were in contact with my belongings. Today I called this store for a specialty item - Hatch Chili Burgers at the Butcher Counter ! My home store, which is in South Charlotte, did not have any of these specialty burgers. I have been a dedicated shopper at the Providence/ Strawberry Hill location since they opened the new store. Always loved it and raved about the location to friends. But lately, I'd say starting about a year ago, I started noticing a difference in the quality of their offerings. It has been in steady decline since then. Their produce has become so bad. Bag salads are often wilted and rotting once you get them home and open them. Their "fresh" fruit is hard and inedible half the time, with no taste whatsoever. Their meats have also become highly questionable. Not once, but three different occasions have I purchased chicken products that had a noticeable bad smell and had to be returned. I've stopped buying meats there completely now because I don't trust them. Add to all of this their increase in prices and I just can't support buying there anymore. I don't mind the prices, I'm sure everything has gone up, but if i'm getting goods that have become so low quality, it can't justify the pricing. I'm not a fan of Whole Foods for other reasons, but I will say that their quality has not dropped the way Fresh Market has, so I am going to have to start going there now. The staff at Fresh Market are as wonderful as ever, and I will miss them, but they really need to look at where they are sourcing their foods from. Very disappointed. read more

Love this store but DON'T go for the rotisserie chicken - they take a quality product and cook it beyond recognition, dry and looks like a raisin. Suggesting to the Department that golden brown is not burnt black just falls on deaf ears? Yes, very familiar with the internal temperature requirements but these chickens are well beyond that threshold!!! The Providence FM store is less than a mile away but if my shopping includes rotisserie chicken, I drive 5 miles down 485 where they cook up an AWESOME chicken! For Thanksgiving dinner this year we preordered the "Traditional Holiday Meal" at the Fresh Market on East Blvd. On Thanksgiving Day my husband picked up the order and it was boxed up waiting for him. We followed the included directions to reheat and the meal was EXCELLENT, I'm talking everything was excellent: turkey, stuffing, whipped potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish and rolls. All I did was add a couple of green vegetables and the desserts. Voila! A complete meal on the table, minimal cooking on my part and, again, everything was absolutely delicious. An added bonus is this meal was less expensive than I would've had to pay if I'd made everything myself. This Fresh Market location is a full supermarket that's crammed into a footprint that should be at least half again bigger. The shopping areas are narrow and difficult to maneuver, but that's because they have a lot of stuff here. Smaller produce section but they do have things that you're not going to find at the larger markets. The heat-and-eat items from the deli are top notch. And the cheese section, while not as varied as Whole Foods, is still better than you'll find at Publix. Great meat counter. Great bulk items including all sorts of nuts and powders and candies and such. There were even some excellent sugar free items on display! Bakery? Amazing! Confectionary counter? OMG. Overall, the store could use a few more lights but it's still got everything you could need for higher end foods. The Cornelius, NC Fresh Market is a terrific store, great people and products and the worst (corporately-driven) online ordering system in the free world. Just spent two+ hours ordering for Thanksgiving, something that would have been 15 minutes from any other store. Absolutely non-functional search engine; ordered items randomly don't show up in basket; 8+ tries to remove something in the basket; no link between membership, store preference and online ordering--it just goes on and on. I live 35 min from this (wonderful) store and traveling that far with the hope they have something just doesn't work for me--and I'll bet I'm not the only one. I first discovered Fresh Market when I lived in Orlando and was excited to find that there were a couple in Charlotte. They're actually a chain, but they have the look and feel of a locally owned and operated food/veggie market. You walk in and it's got that local feel to it. The lights aren't super bright, so you don't feel like you're in a warehouse. It's actually very calming and brings a smile to my face. I like shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables here because the prices are comparable to those at Harris Teeter so I don't feel like I'm being ripped off by shopping at a "specialty" store. They also have many organic and natural options available. Browsing the aisles, I find items that I don't normally find in regular grocery stores and, finding something new and/or unusual inspires me to cook something different for dinner. After I've decided what to cook, I can wander over to the wine section and pick out something that pairs up with my food choices. They also have a huge variety of freshmade breads, soups, salads, cheeses, meats, coffee beans, and even flowers. I go in for a few vegetables and end up walking out with a complete dinner with bread and wine accompaniments...and a bouquet of flowers for the table! read more

We just finished our prepared Thanksgiving meal from Fresh Market (purchased at Cornelius NC location). We enjoyed it very much, especially the convenience and ease of reheating/preparation. Overall, everyone had positive comments on the food -- it was delicious! Our only suggestions for improvement: less orangy cranberry sauce and cornbread dressing not as good as "grandma" used to make. I personally loved the oyster dressing. My initial impression of the Fresh Market was that it is a cross between Earth Fare and Dean and Deluca. The atmosphere was more "Farmer's Market/Country Store," but also caters to higher end shopping and quality products. I definitely enjoyed smelling a nice aroma of coffee as I entered and getting a little sample to sip on while checking out the rest of the store. They have a colorful display of multiple bins filled with beans, nuts, dried fruits, and candy. It was appealing to me and I found myself drawn to this section. I felt like a little kid all wide-eyed and happy looking at the selection of everything. The produce section was big and looked very fresh. They had a great meat/seafood section as well. The bakery had delicious looking cakes and a nice selection of breads. It seems like the prices are comparable to many of the other stores I have visited and they seem to have a nice selection of products. Granted, items add up quickly and certain items are definitely pricey. If you intend to shop for more healthy, sustainable, organic products you will have to do some label reading at Fresh Market. While they do offer those types of products (they do a great job of making everything look healthy, delicious, and earth-friendly), they also stock their shelves with mainstream, processed foods as well. read more

Nice grocery in high end area of Charlotte. Prices are on the above average range, but quality is generally good. Produce, seafood, meats, bakery, deli are all quite good. One problem of note is bulk coffee. Every purchase I've made in bulk coffee, no matter which one is loaded with broken bits and pieces of beans, as if they've been swept up off the floor of the supplier. Not particularly appealing both visually or for taste. I don't know if they are old or seconds, but are not very good at all. Makes a very mediocre cup of coffee. read more

I enjoy coming here with my husband. We are big fans of grilling our own food. I feel that what we cook taste better than most restaurants around here. This is the place to come to if your looking for good cuts of meat. I usually stick to chicken breast and or ground beef. My husband eats way more variety than I do. We get all sorts of things from here. My husbands favorite thing to get is the Dr. Brown soda that is favorited black cherry. My favorite thing to get from here are their chocolate covered pretzels. Which they don't seem to carry at this location often. I love all of there options in the fresh meat section. Nothing we have ever gotten was bad! They have good kabobs, Marinated chicken and steaks. The Fresh Market joins the ranks of supermarkets/stores that are best enjoyed or experienced infrequently. I'd say the main reason would be the idea of crossing off every item on a grocery list here would be much more expensive than other spots. Hey, I get it. That's what they're all about. Most of our trips to The Fresh Market tend to comprise a bag less than 10 items....and there's nothing wrong with that. I will say that I'm happy to find an assortment of Vosges chocolate here. A difficult brand to track down, or at least track down the more reputable flavors/varieties. I'd say one of my favorite aspects of shopping here is the ambiance. What a great experience I had on my short stop into The Fresh Market. From the moment I entered this super clean and open layout designed store, I was given the best customer service I've ever received at a grocery store before. It wasn't even forced upon me either, it was all genuine and real interactions with extra nice and friendly staffers. I had interactions with three different departments, just naturally along the way, totally not seeking interaction, while in store for no more than five to eight minutes. I asked the meat department man where the restroom was, and he kindly gestured to the corner and told me the way. I know it seems like I'm overly emphasizing over a simple, "where's the restroom" question, but it wasn't what he said, it was how he delivered it with such a gentle and patient demeanor. I'm sure those meat department guys get asked that question a ton being smack dab right in the middle of the store, so to not get upset or irritated late in the day at the monotonous question and kindly put a little effort into directing me with a good mood rubbed off on me and made me feel good too. Little things sure do go a long way and make a big impact. Next, I meandered over to the bakery section and started glancing over the display case at all the goodies. Within a matter of seconds, a staff member attentively appeared to greet me behind the counter to help me find something. She left what she was doing on the floor and rushed over to assist me. I complimented on her keen awareness to help me out and she said she always has her eyes scanning around for that very reason. What a star. Very polite and kind employee. I asked her what her favorite item in the bakery was and she recommended the Pumpkin White Chocolate Chip Cookies. I've never tried them, they're a seasonal item, I love white chocolate, and they were also on sale. I was sold. She laughed and said hope I enjoy them. Enjoy them I sure did, these were the best grocery store bought cookies I've ever had. Super soft cookies, which is critical for my cookie preferences. Not even a really big cookie guy, but man, these were a home run. The white chocolate is amazing in these and some of the cookies may look like they don't have any white chocolate chips, but do not be fooled because they are in there. Literally in there, in the inside, stuffed. They even tasted like stuffed white chocolate cream icing, it was supreme. I ate the entire box, no shame. Finally, at checkout, my cashier was the man. Another super friendly, upbeat, positive attitude type guy. One of the customers in front of me asked if they were hiring and the cashier handled it so perfectly with his answer, it made me want to apply. We had a nice short and sweet mini talk while he was ringing my items up. This place is just straight good moods all around. The Fresh Market is a chain, but this location definitely left me with that local town store impression. The team of employees here were an A+ in customer satisfaction and maybe I just got lucky and went 3/3 on this Friday evening on 9/11 or maybe not and it could be the case that they're always like that. Either way, it was such an awesome time for the short few minutes I went in that it made me go the distance to logon here to write a review. Who writes reviews on grocery stores? Well, this guy here will when the experience was that splendid like the one I just had. I know it sounds like I'm doing the most, but I was actually blown away by how they made me feel. *Taking in a deep breath* Do I smell Hazelnut? No wait. That's French Vanilla. Or could it be Cinnamon?? I don't even KNOW. Every time I walk into Fresh Market, I'm on sensory overload. From the smells of the different coffee flavors to the aroma of the bakery, my brain almost explodes. The produce section is wonderful and I love how it looks clean, and non-picked/sneezed on. Only thing is that the prices are slightly higher on some of the staple produce items such as onions and tomatoes to name a few. When I want to treat myself and get expensive coffee ($9.99 a pound for flavored coffee beans..whaaaaa??) I come here to oooooo and ahhhhh over the different selections. There's not a TON, but enough to give my senses a tickle. I love coming here for specialty items like cheeses, and jams and certain ingredients. Love the wine selection and have bought several bottles due to their mini samplings that they have. Would have never tried them if it wasn't for that. The meats are also great quality. You can get a great deal on steaks and lobster when they run sales. I only buy it at sale time, though, because that's when I can stomach the prices. Customer service in the meat department is prompt and very helpful. When I looked and saw that they didn't have ground chicken breast, I asked the gentle lad behind the counter and he took two pieces of chicken breast and made me freshly ground chicken right in front of me! Aww..thanks Mr. Meat Man! At the register, they have weekly newsletters that are free that contain sales for that week and some fun yummy recipes. My cabinets at home are filled with ripped out recipes from the little booklets. When I saw that they also sell my favorite cook book, I fell deeper in love with this place. I'm on the fence, but I haven't given The Fresh Market much of a chance. I always associate it with a lot of high end "frou frou" ingredients and organics that rich people consume, but I was in here the other day to pick up a six pack of beer. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. I may need to make another trip since they have a ton of stuff to look at as far as specialty ingredients. I enjoy shopping at the Fresh Market from time to time for gourmet and organic items. Since it isn't as convienant to me as HT, Trader Joes, and Earthfare, I typically only stop in here when I am headed to a party or potluck. The bakery is good and each day they have fresh selections of specialty items - their napoleons are really decadent. We also like their éclairs and créme brûlée. They have a pretty good selection of wines, cheeses, gourmet flatbreads and crackers. I also enjoy their selection of imported and nostalgic candies. This is a good location, it's pretty close to my job...not far from home. I have been here several times and have always found everything I need pretty easily. The store is well stocked and organized. The employees are helpful and friendly. I like to get fresh fruits and vegetables here. Fresh Market used to be one of my favorite stores but it has gone way down hill. the prices have gone up and all of the packaged salads and meals have gotten smaller. quality has also gone way down. during my most recent visit I picked up two chicken Caesar salads and when I opened one to have for lunch the next day it was missing the dressing. when you charge $10 per salad it is especially disappointing to not even have dressing included. and I understand oversights and mistakes happen. I called to let a manager know and they just said "ok we will make note of that" and didn't sound the least big concerned, apologetic, or anything. it would have been nice to offer me a replacement or at least show some care. this was actually my first visit here in a while after having other disappointing experiences. And it will be the last. Sad to see a once good store go so far downhill. definitely no longer worth it. read more

Someone who shared my pain directed me to Fresh Market. Once I found it, I realized why I'd never come across it before. For the record, my number of stars primarily is based on customer service. My first Fresh Market was in South Carolina, and it was an oasis. Many happy memories. Because of my past experience, I kept giving this Fresh Market additional chances; although I encountered a few helpful employees (I must mention Maria, a beautiful gem of a human being), the overall impression given is "we don't care and we're smarter/richer/better than you." This ambience extends even into the parking lot. I have rarely had as many opportunities for "road rage" as I have been given in this parking lot. Yes, they have good food. So does Harris Teeter.
