This is a smaller supermarket but very well stocked. You get great deals on various items and they honor a lot of coupons. One of my favorite aspects of this supermarket is the food that is served on site. Pizza, buffet, olive bar and more. And , not to mention the bar. You are actually able to grab a drink or cup of wine to enjoy while you shop. While I am discussing wine, They have one of the best collections of wines I've ever seen. Many of them are on sale regularly. Great way to try a new wine next time you visit. The store is well kept and also includes a Starbucks inside. I came here nearly 20 years ago when they first opened. There were great coupons deals then, in some cases double and triple the manufacturer discount. Today I found it difficult to understand the value that the buy one get two free without the base price being presented to clearly communicate the value. The prices here were more than I would find at Publix or Winn Dixie, but then again I regularly buy from Aldi. I cannot justify continuing to purchase from here. read more

I've only made it to this store a couple times when I've happened to be up north. I wish there were some closer into Jax! This place is CLEAN, like "could-eat-your-sandwich-off-the-floor" clean (but maybe don't). The staff are super friendly--like, genuinely happy to be there! And prices: I love some of the other local chains, but Harris Teeter is out here saving me money like a grocery store superhero. Same (sometimes better produce) quality, better deals! Harris Teeter, already the best/only grocery store on the island, didn't have to improve their store to offer something other than simply being open...but they did. In a time when Publix literally disappeared & Winn Dixie is suffering an identity crisis, Harris invites you over to his place to turn up at the in-store watering hole called Ale & Vine. You know it's going to be a good vibe if you see the group known as The Sunday Heads there drinking & watching football on a Saturday. Crystal, the bartender who hails from New York, did a great job of making sure we stayed well hydrated. Bonus feature: When we got snackish while enjoying our bevies, we were able to grab some hot appetizers and tater chips that Crystal added right on the tab - no muss, no fuss. Very confusing layout in the store, where similar products are scattered throughout store. Checkout layout is poorly designed. It seems to cater more to merchandisers than customers. There is a good selection in some unusual things, however, and the employees are friendly and helpful. Not my go to store, but it does offer some products that others do not. read more

Best. Chinese food. Ever. Not what I expected to say about a grocery store but hey, you never know. They have a hot bar with a variety of Asian takeout style foods. I got the yakisoba noodles, mandarin fried chicken, spicy garlic chicken, and mixed veggies. It was all amazing! Fresh and very flavorful without being too salty. I also got a small salad from the salad bar and it was very fresh and tasty. Anyway, the store is super clean and well stocked. The employees are friendly. I could see the parking lot filling up pretty quickly during busier times but that's really the only issue. This is literally the worse Harris Teeter I have ever shopped at. Stopped in to make a salad from the salad bar and there were so many items missing to complete a simple salad, no onions, no cucumbers, missing the basics and overloaded on the premade salads like chicken salad and buckwheat salad, etc. No cups for the dressing, no help to be found. Only four items on the hot bar. this was at 6:30 on a Saturday evening so it is not like they were closing soon. The employees that were working sure did hate their jobs. No interaction with the customers at all. I hope this was just a bad night, but I will visit Publix instead next time I am in the area. read more

There are very few things I miss about living in Charlotte. Harris Teeter is one of them. Even after Publix started opening stores in NC, I still frequented HT. I took a trip today to seemingly the only HT in Florida, located in Fernandina Beach. I made the hour long journey to buy dungeness crabs, which were on sale for 8.99/lb with my VIC card. Even when Publix carries them, they're rarely on sale for that low. This location was a familiar, welcoming store. The layout was similar to their other locations. It was bright, clean, and abundant with VIC specials. I didn't browse around because I was on a specific mission for crabs but will definitely take my time on another visit. I know Publix and Winn Dixie have a foothold on the area but it would be nice to have a couple of locations throughout Jax; that and a couple of Lidls to give Aldi a competitor too. read more

HARRIS TEETER... A funny name for a supermarket, Right? Well don't laugh until you try it. This one is on Amelia Island just a couple of miles from where we're staying. I love this store. There are some other shops in the center and there's plenty of parking. Oh and a gas station at the entrance. Very convenient. Ok, so the supermarket... they have a Starbucks right in the store. How can you not love this place. Do some shopping, sit down and have your favorite coffee fix before checking out. They also have a pharmacy which is also convenient. Yes I know most all supermarkets have a pharmacy but let me gush for a moment. The store is clean and well organized. The workers are all pleasant and very helpful. Get this, they have two food buffets. One hot and one cold, and apparently they have a breakfast buffet in the morning too. A fruit and salad bar, and a variety of hot soups. Are you starting to loveHarris Teeter now? We'll wait till you hear thIs. They now have gourmet dinners at night. Can you believe it? Tonight, Wednesday, they're serving Lobster Dinners. Every day it's different, so if you're inclined, and no matter what time of day, you can do some shopping and Have breakfast, lunch or dinner. How can you beat that. And it could be me being infatuated with Harris Teeter, but the quality of the food they sell seems to be a better quality to me. First time shopping at a Harris teeter and was pleasantly surprised! Nice selection of deli, cheese, produce, meats, wines.. you name it. We had just stopped in on the way home from exploring Amelia island so we couldn't get much.. however we did decide on getting a hot fresh margarita pizza. Which was actually pretty good! Esp coming from a grocery store. I went to the deli counter and was immediately acknowledged and asked if I wanted any meats (unlike some places that leave you waiting 5 mins before they ask what you want) and the cashier was amazing as well. 10/10 will def be back when around the area. This is how the affluent get groceries. A five star experience from start to finish. The produce aisle is well stocked and super fresh- there is a Starbucks in store with a cafe area to sit. There is a huge hot bar and a wide selection of hot and prepared food for anyone looking for a quick bite. (Shouts out to Marc- for best omelette and customer service)There is even a place to take your nibbles and sit down and eat. Nice grocery store that could be considered a restaurant too.. a take home prepared food for you.. that is! HT is a N.C. grocery chain that looks for upper scale areas to establish themselves. This one might be an "idea" store because it is huge, nicely laid out, friendly employees, fresh, frozen meat, cheese, produce, nice wine/beer food selections to rival any store. Friends of ours who shop here regularly like the prepared foods to take home including gourmet desserts..lol! Can grocery stores get married? If Publix & Trader Joe's got married and had a baby....the result would be Harris Teeter! This place was just amazing! They have everything you would find in a traditional grocery store plus an amazing selection of prepared dishes-ready to eat, a pizza station with lots and lots of slices or whole pie selections, an amazing floral department & even a Starbucks! Everything about this store was just fabulous! Great produce department & huge selection of wines & craft beers too! They were even set up selling barbecue outside. (Didn't try it, but it smelled great!) This was my favorite grocery store in Fernadina Beach...just wish South Florida would get one! read more

This is usually a very clean and friendly store but today they ruined their reputation with me. I understand that every other aisle must be closed because of covid but on a Saturday to not have baggers, and to have 8-10 people in every line while managers are laughing and standing around doing nothing except engaging in inane chatter in front of the service desk, (while shoppers were doing their own bagging) is ridiculous. Then when one African American manager brought me a cart to put my own bags in, (as I was doing my own packing) and never even offered to take over, or to lift a 22 pound turkey for me, I was frustrated to say the least. The woman before me bagged at least 25 bags while the checker took forever to ring each sale item up. I stood and watched as he lost track of where he was with her items and saw him actually ring up a bag of potatoes twice. He was a slow as a frog in Russia in winter. Two aisles over another woman was complaining about the lines. In the other direction, one person stood in line for 15 minutes with only two items in their hands. That's all I could see from my perspective but it was obvious from the body movements of many people in line that they were frustrated with the long wait and they began to commiserate among themselves. I'm from South Carolina where Harris Teeters are like Publix here (or at least were, before I moved away years ago)...HT has always been a pleasant place to shop. And back in the day, the only place you could buy Cheerwine and Sundrop in my area! A store ahead of its time. I did frequent the Harris Teeter here in Jax/Mandarin area (which has since closed) even though it was all the way across town for me. So I was happy to find out about the HT in Fernandina! I can purchase some old favorites there (like Bunker Hill chili!)...and this store has some other unique items you can't find anywhere else. At least twice a year, a pilgrimage to Harris Teeter is necessary so I can stock up on my Bunker Hill Chili. I've loved this canned meat (no beans!) product since I was a little girl eating hot dogs on the farm. But since moving to Florida, it has become increasingly hard to find locally. Harris Teeter to the rescue! A beautiful ride down A1A on 4 wheels or 2 to the Harris Teeter is good for your mental health as well...This scenic tour will lift your spirits for sure! So a couple years ago, HT added a Starbucks in-store. This is a pleasant refuge and place to recharge with some java! Daniel and I do like to ride the Harley to Amelia Island...and some coffee is, well, a prerequisite to everything else lol. We discovered that Harris Teeter also has many hot meal options, as well as salads. You can pick up lunch or dinner to go, by the pound; or eat right there (there's a quiet dining space at the front of the store)without breaking the bank. You probably don't think of a grocery store as destination dining, but check it out, you'll see, it's pretty darn tasty! One thing you will notice right away is how bright this store is! Not harsh lighting, but well-lit and well planned to enhance the look of everything. It's an inviting place where you feel so comfortable, you don't want to rush through your shopping trip. Today I realized I was a VUC. VERY UNIMPORTANT CUSTOMER. For the last 4 weeks l, I have traveled from Jacksonville to Fernandia Beach to spend time with relatives. Each time I stopped at Harris Teeter to get snacks and drinks. Twice I've bought shelled snow crab. The sign at the tub of iced crab said $9.99. The price on the individual package said $9.99. I thought this was an excellent deal. So I bought it. I've bought whole pizzas cheese, beer, etc. I have told my relatives and others what a beautiful store with great deals. I've enjoyed going there. NO MORE THOUGH. I went thru shelf check out and the amount seemed high, but I thought I must have mis-added it. When I arrived at my destination, I looked at the receipt and saw I had been charged $12.99 for the crab. This is a 33% increase. I mentioned to my host I thought I had been overcharged. She asked me if I had a VIC card. I had no idea what that was. She showed me the key chain tab that said VIC. (I never get cards for a keychain as I don't have a keychain). I said what is that for. She said you get deals on items if you have one. Obviously the price I saw clearly twice was a VIC price. Never once saw the non-VIC price. So I asked her what does VIC mean. She looked at the card and said Very Important Customer. I looked her and said, well I guess I'm a VUC, Very Unimportant Customer. It pissed me off. Prices clearly stated that are not the price for all. I shop at Publix in Jacksonville. They state a price... you get that price. They say BOGO, you get 2 for 1. They say 5 for $5, the you get 5 for $5. And, they're super nice. So in closing, my stops in the future in Amelia Island on the way to see my peeps will be anywhere other than Harris Teeter. Yes, it's only a few dollars each week, but over time it's a weekly misrepresentation that adds up, but most importantly, it find it to be weak integrity on how they represent their pricing. It stinks to be a VUC when you really think you've found a good place to shop and told others. Although the prices are slightly more expensive than Publix, the store is always clean. I love the guys in the meat department. David and Bob are always friendly and make me laugh. They are knowledgeable and helpful. William in the deli department was so nice today while making sandwiches. He was busy but maintained a smile and positive experience even for those who were standing in the line. Maya was a sweetheart while she checked us out. Fresh products every time we go! This is one of the most well kept grocery stores I've ever seen and I've never even heard of this company. In Florida I've only ever seen Publix or Winn Dixie for the most part. I ended up getting some pineapple and water for the road. I was looking for Tupelo honey but nowhere I went in all of JAX had it. There must be some sort of shortage. So far my wife likes this way more than I do. We've been several times for groceries and to eat dinner. First, the market itself isn't terribly large. It's clean, fairly modern and well lit. Second, at first glance, they have a good RTE food section: a large pizza station, hot food bar, an in-store Starbucks etc. on Thursdays all day $9.99 Prime rib dinners carved while you wait. I'll come back to that, First time we got pizza. Looked great. Got several slices to eat at the in store cafe. Toppings, tasty. Dough? Not done at ALL- RAW. Bleech. Very rushed and not happy. Not just one. But all 4 slices, each from a different pizza. Second visit I walked in w my wife to the hot bar and was not aware of the prime rib (and how popular it is). The man who was at the PR station was near the hot bar and said, "hey, I have 1 prime rib dinner left. Would you like it?". I said I would and turned my cart and headed over. Now, I'm handicapped so it took me an extra 30 seconds. When I got there the employee said, "sorry bud. This guy beat ya to it". Honestly, I was a bit dumbfounded. If I was that guy, as a retailer, I would have said to the other guy, "I'm sorry sir. I just sold this last one to this person". I was really scratching my head on that one. It's prices are at a premium and customer service is at a minimum. It appears to me that Craig has given up. He treats his customers as a number and refuses to stand by defective products. Hi my name is June 85 great grandmother of 13 grandchildren. Because of my age I had a choice to visit wherever I wanted to go and my granddaughter took me I chose to visit Amelia Island. We visited your Harris Teeter store. I have to say everything was well stocked and the store was in a very clean and tidy atmosphere. I was absolutely taken back from a young lady named Sarah that was mistreating her staff. I heard one of the stock boys asked the young lady where he needed to put something she told him he was stupid and he needed to get out of her face. I can tell this embarrass the young man and so I stopped the young lady and asked her why she spoke to him that way. She just rolled her eyes and kept on walking with her nose in the air. I definitely hope Harris Teeter doesn't allow this type of behavior to go on in their establishments. Not only did this happen in front of me but in Front ofseveral other customers that was staying around. You can tell they were pretty taken back with this young lady. Please Harris Teeter I asked that you at least counsel this young lady and have her learn how to Treat her peers with kindness. Because you never know who's watching. Three stars (ok) is all I can give this store... I'm not "a fan" (4 stars) and it's not even close to "as good as it gets" (5 stars)...in my opinion. I'll start with the smell as soon as we walked in. It was a mix of seafood, deli and the hot bar located near the entrance. It was not a pleasant smell, to me almost like a dumpster, which was later followed up with the 10-12 small, I'll call them Fruit Flies loitering in and around the tomatillos and tomatoes over in the produce area. The rest of the store seemed pretty clean and organized. This location (maybe all Harris Teeter) is selling itself as a high end, organic grocer and the prices certainly reflect that. It's no wonder with it's location on "The Island" and just down from The Plantation. I suppose with that in mind, if you were close by and didn't feel like going in to town, this is a good place for you. I will say the is a plus here....the hot bar and salad bar, more like buffet. Great idea (Pic-n-Save used to do it years ago) simply walk in, grab a to-go container and load up on a single person's meal and go. OMG REALLY? HT took away the handled paper bags- since the day they opened they had them. and that was a reason I did on line curbside pickup. Now they dont have handled bags and that will be a reason to discontiue. I thin would have been a good idea for a HT insder or member to get handled cloth bags. I would even pay more. Better than Publix on the island but leaves a lot to desire. Selections are ok but not fantastic if you're used to Whole Foods or what not. Produce is decent. The fresh cannolis are good. Decent wine selection but mostly safe picks geared towards the mid to lower price points. I would give it three stars but I really like the VIC card and deals. Makes shopping simple and lots of buy one get one free specials where you don't have to do anything other than input your number to save money. The pharmacy is nice as well. Realistically HT is about 3.5 stars. But if you're on island you're likely to shop here. read more

Surprise! After a frankly lousy experience in a Harris Teeter in Durham, NC, the chain won me over again with their Amelia Island location. This is what I remember of HT from 25+ years ago when I lived near one. All the regular center-aisle stuff plus lots of fresh produce and healthier fare. This location has a top-notch breakfast bar and is just a mile from the Ritz, accessible by a nice walking trail. If you want to spend $6 on breakfast and not $26+, head over to HT. I didn't go during their lunch or dinner hours, but they had a nice salad bar and what appeared to be space for additional hot bar items for later in the day. They also have a good selection of sunscreen, beach toys, and other vacay necessities near the front. The only downside is their over reliance on self-checkouts, which are the bane of my existence at a full-price grocery store. You're not Walmart, HT, so you can't get away with this without giving up a star in this girl's reviews. Otherwise, a great store. read more
