When I ask why, I was told I needed to talk to the office manager, I said great when can I see her? I was then told that the best that could be done was for me to call her, leave my name number and reason for calling, I suggested just a moment of her time while I was there and was told she was much to busy dealing with current patients, after all they take precedent over current patients. The sad fact is I like Dr. Lowney, I'm not real sure what went wrong.

First is my MRI experience - At 12:25 they checked me in and just after 1 pm, I was taken upstairs…read morefor my Prohance dye injection. This is where the doctor uses an ultrasound to inject contrast dye into a joint for the MRI. From there I was taken back downstairs where I changed into scrubs and was left alone in a waiting area for another hour. As I sat there, I wondered what would happen if I had an anaphylactic reaction, no one checked on me the whole time. I had time to Google the FDA recommendations for timing between injection and MRI and I learned that the MRI should take place within one hour of the dye injection. I wondered if they would have to redo the painful injection. At 2:05, someone came by to let me know it would be five more minutes and not to worry- the dye lasts. It's just no fun to hang out in a gown for more than one hour. I was there just over two hours. I went back the next week for a mammogram and that took 30 minutes total from when I parked my car to when I was leaving again in my car. Much better experience.

The difference between Kort and the other home health agencies is extreme! Let me tell you why. - [ ] The longest an agency has ever stayed in the home was 6 weeks. It has now been 3 months. Awesome! - [ ] Therapists care about me at Kort. As long as I show improvement, they want to stay and cheer me on. - [ ] We constantly meet goals and make new ones! Over and over. - [ ] I always know when they are going to be here. - [ ] Diligent on working with insurance to make sure visits get covered. - [ ] We do skills/tests and compare with previous times. It not only helps justify to insurance but me as well to remind me how far I have come. - [ ] POC is never boring. Always finding new ways to exercise or incorporate them into my daily routine. - [ ] Whenever I had pain from a visit they would help me through it and we would be back at it again in no time. Therapy didn't give up on me, they empowered me! I never imagined how far I could progress. - [ ] My endurance has quadrupled. I can clean the counters off in the kitchen. I can make meatloaf and tortellini! I was lucky to warm up meals in the microwave before. - [ ] When I had to go to the basement during storms, I felt confident to manage the steps. - [ ] I can use my left hand again. Wash my hair with both arms/hands. I have a pencil grasp again!! I can open and close my hand again. Before, I felt as if my hand was just hanging there. When I was in the room with the doctor, he introduced himself and gave a bit of his history so I could know who I'm entrusting my health with. (I knew right then this was different than others who expect respect based solely on their title). He then asked me about myself and my life. Asked what my goals and expectations were. Honestly, I've not felt like my healthcare was a joint effort with a doctor as much as I have until this visit. I felt heard, seen, and valued. When we discussed renewal of existing prescriptions, he questioned the logic behind each and we came up with a me go forward plan based on what is safest and most logical as a Plan A, He even took time to check my insurance as we talked to see if the meds he discussed would be covered, to save us all time and headache. I picked this doctor randomly from my insurance list, but I now feel so lucky that I did!
