They also talked me into changing the chain, which also didn't need to be changed. Their prices were sky high too. Additionally, it became necessary for me to purchase a new pump...yet another cost. Instead of going back for more abuse, I found Miller's. The store has a classic look from when it first opened decades ago. Inside the store, I also experienced old fashioned courtesy and professionalism. I originally entered the store on Mamaroneck Avenue and went downstairs with my bicycle. Martín tested out a pump I considered purchasing by pumping air into both of my flat bicycle tires. It was a great experience I'd highly recommend. After my purchase, Martin raised the big door for me (which opened onto Phillips Park Road). I rolled out of there a happy customer!

I visited it again on my weekend rides and the rear/downstairs was much more established and customer friendly. Having much experience with bicycle shops over my 50 plus years plus I was surprised when they had an advertisement in a Bicycle trade paper for a floor manager. I went in for the ''interview'' during Covid and was given a Half Attention dialog/interview with the owner and concluded they are guilty of ageism pure and simple. To make matters more egregious, i subsequently stopped by to pay a token visit as a customer to actually purchase a maintenance product and was given that same blank stare. I have urged all my serious cyclist friends since to avoid said establishment, especially if you are over 50 years old. Sorry to write, some people never get it or have courtesy. Ray K.

The space itself feels serene and thoughtfully designed, inviting you to slow down and breathe. The offerings are wide-ranging and thoughtfully curated, making it easy to find practices that suit both newcomers and seasoned meditators alike. What really stands out is the sense of community. There's a genuine warmth among the members and teachers that makes every visit feel like coming home. Lisa and Suey are particularly welcoming, their beautiful energy setting a calm, inviting tone as soon as you arrive. Their presence helps create a safe, nurturing container for learning, exploration, and growth. The center's programs are beautifully crafted and affordable, spanning a wonderful spectrum--from guided meditations and mindfulness workshops to gentle movement practices and wellness sessions. I especially appreciated the variety of experiences I participated in: Medicine wheel (Anishinaabe tradition) Healing drumming circle Sound baths Healing Haven (a space where holistic practitioners exchange their gifts) Gong bath Each program offered something different yet cohesive, led with care, clear guidance, and an emphasis on accessibility, ensuring that everyone can participate and benefit. In addition to classes and sessions, the center also offers a thoughtful retail nook with crystals, oracle cards, and incense--beautifully curated items that complement the mindful practices and provide a tangible way to carry the experience home. If you're seeking a place to cultivate inner calm, connect with a supportive community, and experience uplifting, energy-rich offerings, Phoenix Rising Wellness & Meditation Center is a standout. The combination of heartfelt leadership, a vibrant and inclusive community, and a tranquil, well-maintained space makes every visit something to look forward to. Tips for first-timers: Arrive a few minutes early to soak in the space and set your intention. Don't hesitate to ask questions--Lisa and Suey are generous with guidance and recommendations. Check the schedule for a variety of offerings; you might discover a practice you didn't know you needed. Overall, a gem for anyone exploring mindfulness, wellness, and connection.
