This train station is pretty dated but well kept and very clean. The main highlight of the station seemed to be the historic tunnel that had moments of Norwalk's past. There are two tracks with ample seating and elevators for accessibility. The entrance has a bit of a through street flow so traffic flows easily, and there are buses available as well. read more

An occasional culture warrior in the epic battle of trains vs. cars, I have moments of doubt when I'm on a stalled PATH train but my friend is texting like "beautiful holiday barbecue here in Sussex County." Thank you Metro-North for doing better than my own state. New Haven Line service has great scenery plus electric outlets. And South Norwalk in particular was a pleasant surprise. Not only was there was a decent bathroom and phone-charging capability, but being able to enjoy a bit of AC and watch News 12 was, to quote Eric Bogosian, the icing on the gravy. read more

I guess that name makes more sense when you realize that Norwalk has two Metro North Stations -South Norwalk and East Norwalk. This review is for the South Norwalk station, and the most important thing I learned while picking up my brother-in-law yesterday is that the station can be confusing, because it has just one parking lot for two stations. Talk about "wrong side of the tracks"? There are no track numbers or platforms here, and when you stand waiting for a train, there is no way above-ground to get to the other side. No skyways or bridges. You have to go into the small terminal and cross underground. So a word to the wise, if you are looking for a Northbound train that left NYC or a southbound train that passed through New Haven, make sure you are on the right side of the tracks. read more

If you live in South Norwalk, this is a great train station. It's an easy stroll from the heart of town. If you're driving, parking is limited - the garage fills early - and costs $10/day in the outside lot. The station itself is typical of most Metro North stations, and it's easy to purchase tickets at the machine outside or from a real person inside. Trains are usually on time, and the tracks are clearly marked. (You just need to check the monitors to see which train is on what track.) In terms of train stations in this area of Connecticut it is one of the larger more well equipped ones other than Stamford. Ample parking inside and outside. This train station is clean and well kept. There are bathrooms and indoor seating. There is a small cafe on the south bound side with friendly staff. It has a good number of options and is extremely well priced. Their iced coffee is one of my favorites in the area. read more

Two issues - Very bad experience with male customer service representative when the automatic parking payment machine did not work properly. He had major attitude that he had to walk out of the building to correct the problem. One of our passengers is a regular train commuter and says he encounters this attitude from customer service regularly when the automatic payment machines dont work. Other major issue were mens and womens bathrooms were filthy, no toilet paper or hand towels at 8am. With covid issues this is unacceptable. First and last time using South Norwalk train station. read more

This train station used to be a lot worse, it is definitely safer now. I usually never see homeless people or druggies hanging around anymore. The bathrooms have been repaired as well which is nice. I wish they would put the ticket machines inside so you wouldnt have to go out into the cold, but what are you gonna do? It would also be nice if they had more seating and maybe some additional snack machines or a cafe thats actually open throughout the day. They do have an underground tunnel so you dont have to go outside to get back to your car. read more

It's a nice little station that is overall clean and had a small convenience store. There is a large parking lot and the Norwalk bus comes fairly often. Unfortunately, it is located in a residential area so if you do not live nearby, you either have to drive or take the bus which adds to the commute. read more

Find a free spot on the surrounding streets ifya can! $9.75 goes into a machine on the platform and 1 hour later youre walking through Grand Central in Manhattan! Clowns. Train stopped mid-route, allegedly due to a bridge problem. Buses were supposed to take us to the other side of the bridge. They are nowhere to be found. We walked to the neighboring city, which was three times as far as metro north claimed. No surprise, total cluster there. Perhaps these guys need much more babysitting by the us dot. read more

What can I say...it's a train station. If I come in to work in Norwalk, the weeknight trains back to NYC seem to be late more often than not. The bathrooms suck, so I only use them if I have to. Last time I used one and every time before that (over a year ago), the stall locks didn't work and it always smelled like stale poo. But it's convenient and it serves it's purpose. And for that, I'm grateful. read more

This station is really nice compared to some of them. Have to switch here for a train to Grand Central if you are coming from Danbury, Wilton and places off that line. That wait was a little annoying but if you had to switch someplace, you could do much worse. read more

Last Monday (February 11), I arrived at the SoNo train station at 5:45 a.m. to take the 6:06 a.m. train to New York City for an overnight business trip. My meeting in NYC was scheduled to end at 5 p.m. the following Tuesday evening (February 12). I knew that snow and ice were predicted to move into the area early Tuesday morning, so I wanted to get there early to get a parking spot in the SoNo garage. When I got to the train station, I learned that the parking garage doesn't open until 7:00 a.m. on weekdays. Huh?? That was the first red flag, especially considering how many rush hour trains depart from SoNo station before 7:00 a.m. So I drove around the corner to park in the outdoor lot. I couldn't park there, either--there were signs all over the place warning that your car would be towed if you were parked in that lot during a snowstorm because of plows. Naturally, as I was planning an overnight trip, that wouldn't work for me, either. To make a long story short, I drove to the Darien Train Station visitor lot about 10 minutes away and parked at a more reasonable cost ($16 overnight) with zero hassles. The #1 thing I look for in a train station is convenient, accessible parking. So, to put it mildly, I would NOT recommend the SoNo train station! read more

Very clean. Well kept station. Needs more concessions though. Bathrooms on the New Haven side are only open certain hours. Plenty of seating for waiting for trains and buses. No bus tokens or tickets available so bring change if you plan on catching a bus. read more

It's a train station. I will say that it's not in bad repair and has no graffiti that I saw. They had inside waiting areas that were heated which was super nice. Just watch out for the kids shooting rap videos in the tunnel like they're famous or something. read more

I travel a lot using Metro North love there Train service I use South Norwalk Metro North every time I take the Danbury line I prefer the East Norwalk Train Station tho the Train station may be Small but the East Norwalk Train Station is Easier to use especially if your taking the Grand Central or New Haven Line routes there is 2 tracks instead of 3-4 read more

it's relatively clean, it's a sheltered station compared to the open space stations of Cal-train in the bay area.. there are a few vending machines inside so you can buy some snacks while waiting, not a lot of signs for new train takers.... so just ask around for which platform is which direction when you get there... note: the ticket person is not always there, so be prepared.. read more
