We are out of state buyers who needed the hard top removed off of our 34' Formula prior to transporting home. We repeatedly asked for a quote prior to the work being provided but were told the boat needed to be seen before. Once the boat arrived at the marina I called to request a quote, again, and was told it was not possible. I explained that I was quoted around $600 with our certified Formula technician and was told "that's a good price." The next day I get an invoice for $1,722 with a follow up phone call requesting immediate payment. I wish I would have done my homework prior to agreeing Harrison's Yacht Yard to perform our work as I would have been prudent in shopping around for additional quotes/negotiating opportunities. For you, the reader's benefit, we were charged the following: $13/sq ft for haul out services (at our Ohio yacht club it is $6/sq ft). A $200 trailer load fee. A $200 fork lift fee. And $110 per labor hour (similar to Ohio). On their website they advertise $12/sq ft haul out and $150 fork-truck fees. It's unfortunate we were charged more simply because they could. The reason for two stars is because the work was performed well and I have no complaints with the quality of work. I am frustrated because it seems Harrisons has had complains with providing accurate quotes and being transparent about their prices. Had similar experience as the other reviewers. Dave Harrison is terrible to do business with and will not stand behind the quality of work his company delivers (or lack of). It's a shame it's so hard to find good solid providers of boat repair. read more

Then Harrison is the place for you! You wanna get nickeled and dimed - a lot? Use Harrison Marina. Beware of Harrison Yacht Sales and Dave Harrison!!!! They are thieves, they performed work without prior approval on my boat only to screw it up and create an even bigger problem. They don't know how to stick to a schedule and the owner Dave Harrison will curse you out if you question why work was done without your permission. I had my boat stored here for the last year while it was for sale. I had a buyer put a contract on the boat and they performed a survey. A few issues were discovered and I contracted Harrison's to perform the work. I needed the shower sump pump fixed, the generator was not producing 120 volts and the engine could be started while in gear. Here is the timeline of events and my nightmare of working with Dave Harrison and Harrison Yacht Sales!!! 5/23 I contracted the work 5/27 I received the initial work order, was told they would try to get to it this week. 6/2 I receive a call, my boat is taking on water, most likely coming from the shift cable bellow 6/4 I followed up, told the boat was hauled 6/6 I followed up again, was told the mechanic would be on the boat later in the day to look at it. A few hours later, I got a call from Dave Harrison, the mechanic checked out the boat, we agreed to order a new capacitor for the generator. He told me we should replace the other 2 bellows while they had the drive off. They said it would be an additional 3-4 hours, I was hesitant to commission any additional work/incurr any more expenses since I had a list of repairs the buyers already requested I repair and this technically was falling into preventative maintenance. I asked Dave if the other 2 bellows were cracked or had failed, he said no and it was up to me if I wanted to replace them, but he would only do the work if I gave them the go ahead. We eventually agreed to replace them and they ordered the parts. 6/12 I followed up, was told the capacitor just arrived 6/17 I followed up again and was told they were waiting for the bellows to come in. 11 days after I told them to order the parts, they are still waiting for the parts to arrive... 6/17 The buyers back out of the contract, they are tired of waiting with no end in sight. 6/18 The parts are delivered 6/24 Received a call from Dave Harrison, tells me they have a problem. Said they tried to replace the raw water inlet hose, but it was corroded and in the process they broke a bolt, they tried unsuccessfully to rethread the bolt, but it broke. He said they need to pull the motor to fix it and it's going to be an extra 16 hours. I asked if the hose had cracked/failed and why it was being replaced. He stated it was not cracked, but it was part of the work of replacing the bellows that we had previously discussed. I said this is the first time anyone has mentioned replacing a hose and I never gave the go ahead to perform the work. I called my old mechanic I used prior to storing my boat at Harrisons, and he had no idea why they would have replaced that hose unless it failed. He said he never touches that hose, unless he needs to, because this is likely to happen. He said they were likely trying to create more work and would recommend getting the boat hauled out of there. I called Dave Harrison back and again questioned why the work was done without my consent, as I now had a huge repair looming, he then blows up on the phone, cursing at me and telling me it was the right thing to do. I said the right thing to do would have been to get the approval to perform the work. He cursed at me some more and I told him to stop all work and that I was having the boat hauled out of there. 7/14 After getting the boat hauled out and moved to Jabin's, I had my old mechanic check out the boat. Turns out Harrison's destroyed my transom assembly after trying to rig up something with the raw water inlet hose. I had to completely replace the transom assembly. Also, my mechanic only charged me 12 hours to pull the engine, replace the transom assembly, reinstall the engine and outdrives and test. Keep your boat far away from Harrison's unless you want to go broke!! read more

Beware of Harrisons Yacht Yard. On June 8th 2015, I contacted Dave Harrison about a engine miss in my starboard engine. He sent a technician to the boat, and called me and said I had a stuck valve, and the boat needs a head job. He also said the boat would need exhaust manifolds, and elbows. We discussed whether to go with original equipment parts, or aftermarket. I suggested we go with aftermarket to keep cost down. Dave Harrison gave me an estimate of $3500.00. I approved the work. On Friday June 12th 2015 they started the work. I explained to him, I had a contract on the boat and needed the work completed by July 1st 2015. Dave Harrison said to send him The $3500 up front. I sent it to him in two checks. One for $3000.00 and one for $500.00, which I asked him to hold for one week. The following week, Daves office manager, Melody calls me and said they need more money. I questioned her about the estimate, and very rudely she said " you have to pay us to put it back together" I always thought an estimate included not only tearing it apart, but finishing the job. I sent them another check for $800.00. The week of June 22nd 2015, They send me a final invoice of $5200.00. A difference of $1700.00. On July 3rd 2015, the buyer shows up for his sea trial, and survey, only to discover a key has been broken off in the starboard ignition. The only people on the boat was Dave Harrisons mechanics. The boat had to be hot wired to go on a sea trial. I asked Dave Harrison to reimburse me for replacement of the ignition switch. He refused to do so. He also charged me an additional $300.00 to pick my heads up from the machine shop. The boat was in Maryland, and I am in Florida. He took full advantage of me not being able to supervise the work being done. On a final note. I understand an estimate is just that......an estimate. However how do you misestimate by $1700.00? I would recommend you stay far far away from this organization. The office manager is rude, their estimates are not even close, and if they break something you have to fix it. read more
