Went back for a second trip for VKR appreciation weekend. First, a big thank you to these folks for continuing to participate in one of KOA's national events. They are only 1 of 6 total KOAs in the state that continue to participate. We got a patio deck site this time and it was awesome. It was so conveias we didn't pack much of anything. Chairs, a fire pit, a glider, benches, a table, and a gas grill were already at the site. Wifi, cable, and trash pickup included. Very friendly staff again this trip. Looking forward to our return visit for Halloween.

I'd have to agree with fellow Yelper Holly T. about this KOA Campground. It's very nice, clean, has good amenities such as pizza delivery if ordered by 8 pm. It's not a large site, compact, but with a nice pool, fishing pond, camp store, basic mini golf, ping pong, horseshoes, dog playground, shower facilities (clean with plenty of hot water) and generally level places for your RV. The space between lots isn't enormous, normal for campgrounds -- I guess this also depends on what site you get. There are also cabins for rent or lots with decks. They will obviously cost more than the $39 per night we paid for our space. One of the hidden jewels is about a 5 mile up and back hiking trail, which is adventurous and challenging. Once at the peak you won't get a view of the Shenandoah Valley like Mary's Rock or Humpback Rock ... you just reached the top of a wooded peak, so don't expect any bucolic photos. It's been quiet here during our short weekend stay. By 10 pm things are mandated to get peaceful and stay that way until 7 pm. All around, a good KOA Campground, because all are not created equally. We've been to others that aren't as nice. Our neighbors have been good too. We all know they can make or break the experience. I'd come back for sure.

We have stayed here twice already and have a reservation for another stay in a few weeks. We enjoyed the ride into the campground along the winding narrow road in the country. The staff was outstanding and friendlier than expected. We were escorted to our site and had no issues parking the RV. The campground is nice and quiet and very clean. I don't have issue with the little or no internet because we are camping and we don't need it. The cable TV is good but not necessary because we are camping. The pool is well maintained and was a very nice relief from the heat in August. The facilities were clean and up to date. The daily visits from the chickens is a nice touch and the smell of the mountains is wonderful. This is one hideaway you won't regret visiting.

One of the best places we have camped. A place of business really sets itself apart on how they handle things when things go wrong. They went above and beyond when a few things went wrong with our stay and not only made it up, but made it a outstanding stay. There was all kids of actives going on for all ages, hiking trails, putt putt, ice cream socials, a nice pool and lots of other stuff to do. The staff is awesome, so nice and helpful. We will definitely be back and spread the word about this awesome place.

Having full sewer hookups at the site was a real luxury and definitely spoiled us. The resort provided bathhouses are older but clean. The back in spaces are deep and you'll have plenty of room. One of the highlights was the hiking. The trails are excellent, and the view from the top of the hill is absolutely worth the walk. The scenery and peaceful atmosphere made for a great camping experience. There are a couple of things to be aware of. First, Wi-Fi is limited. There is a location on the property where you can connect, but it isn't available throughout the campground. We relied on a personal hotspot, which worked from marginal to okay depending on the time and location. If you need a reliable internet connection for work or streaming, plan accordingly. Second, the catch-and-release pond was underwhelming. Casual anglers or families with kids may enjoy it, but serious fishermen will probably find it a waste of time. Neither of those issues was enough to take away from what was otherwise an excellent experience. The spacious sites, peaceful setting, great hiking, and full hookups made this one of our favorite camping trips. We'd gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing campground in the Shenandoah Valley. Overall: 5/5 stars.

The campground is famous for its sold out annual Bluegrass festival yet it is gaining attention for its powwow events. It was very easy to find the campground. We went to the Five River Campgrounds for the Third Annual Powwow in Parsons in June 2025. It was the most meaningful pow wow I ever experienced. The owners of the campground (Joyce & John) gave the sales of the tickets to the powwow to the MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) Memorial Grove. The non profit organization is involved in promoting awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Some of the performers gave their earnings to MMIW Memorial Grove as well. The Five Rivers Campgrounds owners welcomed us with open arms and immediately noticed us as photographers. We do a lot of philanthropic work in photography yet we rarely get noticed or thanked by many people for it. The owners of the campground were selling tee shirts and stickers with our photography. We had given permission to have our photography used to the performer we have taken the photo of and we were happy to see that he & the owners of the campground were displaying our photography on tee shirts and stickers in the campground shop. The campgrounds are beautiful with views of the mountain. Immediately staff helped us park and alerted us of the speed limit on the campgrounds. The powwow was held outdoors and there was an open air arena with a roof to provide shade. The stage in the venue had a shelter and a good view. You had to provide your own seating, yet we knew that beforehand. The fee for the pow wow was $10 for two days, and we captured the most memorable and beautiful photos we ever took on those days of performers in regalia against green foliage and the mountains. The powwow was small yet the amazing camaraderie and performers were unforgettable. This was one of the finest powwow venues in ambiance, performance, connections, and professionalism we ever experienced.
