Lazy is just what it is a river with no big current. Would I recommend parents bring kids hell no. 15and above recommend. Yes if your need to be some where at a certain time you should know you will most likely have to paddle your self down river two hours is a base line quick trip some One paddling. If you don't desire to paddle then you will be at the boats wave zone . So no paddling going to be more like 3.5 hour to 4 hour this is for a Lazy river meaning no waves no paddling. The more you paddle the faster you're gonna finish. Kids could enjoy this but there is no swimming just floating. You can bring a cooler and snack to but it's in the water and hot so phone I wouldn't recommend either cause iPhone might say tempo to hot needs to cool down. LOTS need improved. Communication on the website about river conditions... meaning, flow backwards, need to paddle. The "sludge" in the water... in have done many rivers, what I mean is the sludge stagnated bubbles that gather in you and the tubes. The manager or owner yelling the F word several times after we returns on the bus. 2 employees quit because of pay and conditions while we were leaving. The whole thing was way out of hand an unprofessional. It was on our to do list, but we will not return. read more

Salt river is a body of water that is in Shepardsville Bullitt Shell me and I'm sure it goes through Hawarden County as well. But admirable salt River live in a bullet County many years of my life now and we have seen salt river and fish and salt River have done the lazy tubing and salt River and just have a lot of experience biking and hiking around it. "awesome" is not at all how i would describe this experience. everyone at the front was super nice and everything went great.... until we got in the water. there was absolutely zero current. at all. about 2 minutes into paddling the water got disgusting and there was stinky algae everywhere. it took my group of 4 about 3 hours to make it all the way to the end. half way through my friends life jacket completely fell apart and all of the foam pieces fell out so we had to collect all of them and drag them along with us the rest of the way. when we FINALLY rounded the corner and saw the end i was so excited but little did i know this i would be the worst part. the last stretch of the river is EXTREMELY shallow, with jagged rocks everywhere. after getting hit in my tailbone very hard, i tried laying as flat as possible but it was still impossible to keep going without snagging on the rocks. two of us ended walking a good amount of the way to keep from dragging on the rocks. after cutting up our feet waking about through 1 ft deep water, we then had to wait for the bus to come. once the bus got there, the group of us waiting to get on all filed in only to realize there wasn't enough room, which the driver did not tell us despite the amount of seats on the bus. while the driver asked his coworker what to do, the rest of us were left in the bus with zero air conditioning in 90 degree heat. he eventually returned and said that some of the group would have to wait for the next bus. i don't think i could give this experience anything more than a 1 star. it was nothing as advertised and the whole thing seemed very lazily put together. read more

This places was awful, the river and the staff. I went with some friends and my two kids. The staff never offered my kids the kid size life jackets, so they were in adult life jackets until we saw a couple on the water who had kid sized life jackets tethered to their rafts and they traded us. I asked about the current before I paid, the idiot that took my money looked at his phone and said "it's about 173 so not too bad". I'm not sure what 173 means but there was literally no current, and the wind was blowing the opposite direction that we were supposed to be moving so it was double the work of paddling. Guess what? The awful company that runs this scam didn't have anyone actually on the river to help with anything like this. After 4 hours of paddling (yes 4 hours since I also had to tend to my kids) we finally made it to the end of this dirty, smelly river, the last 1/8 of a mile or so you have to walk on these jagged rocks which I'm pretty sure there was glass mixed in since several of us ended up with cuts on our feet. Then comes the shuttle, it's a van that looks like someone would lure kids to with the promise of free candy. The seats are cloth which means they were wet from everyone who has ridden before us, and three-toothed bubba drove like Dukes of Hazard through these gravel roads and sharp turns. Then we got out of the shuttle and the same idiot who took my money was standing there and said "how was it?" And I said "not great since there was no current" and he said "yeah" as if that was to be common knowledge. All-in-all this company is here to rent you a tube and send you into a dirty river. If you have an overwhelming desire to do this just buy a tube and walk down and do it yourself, I'm pretty sure they can't tell you no. This feels very scammy and I strongly recommend against it. read more

Didn't expect much with it literally being a river and us in a tube. Got there with another couple of friends and we saw they had a quad tube. Got a little uneasy when they aired it up in front of us and said "oh someone must have just let the air out. We have been having trouble with these tubes, though. So off we went down the salt river. No biggie, but there was legit no current. So we paddled and paddled. And paddled some more. Then we started taking on water pretty heavily. Then our float went completely flat. Literally less than halfway through I believe. No biggie, right, cause there is someone with a boat to tow us. But the poor girl had never towed anything before it seemed. So we finally get towed to a quarter mile or so from the exit. The staff waiting at the exit were staring at their phones so we had to throw this flat piece of plastic on the bank and drag it up ourselves. Then we get to the top of the ramp and they're like "oh did that go flat? We've been having a lot of trouble with those". As we're waiting on the bus, a lady in an SUV pulls up and says all the busses are down. So we cram into her trunk and she starts flying down the road carelessly. I simply asked for a coupon for next time I come back since we didn't even really float and our lives were put in harms way for no reason. $65, no refunds for any reason even if it's their fault apparently. Won't be coming back. Ridiculous. read more

It is in fact a lazy river. However there is nothing at all awesome about it. We sat in a tube in the river and paddled ourselves down the river. Extremely unimpressed. We got there, signed the waivers and paid to then be told there's a line for paddles. One huge group plus several others, probably about a 25-30 paddle wait. So we tried waiting but the next busload that returned came back with...0 paddles. I've never been to a tubing place that requires you to have paddles so we told them we would pass, we'd use water shoes to paddle if necessary. They told us "legally we can't let you go without a paddle" and claimed the bus load that came back must have all lost theirs in the river. Also never heard of a law requiring you to tube with a paddle. Now for the river itself, I've sat in lakes with more current than this river. This was the shortest distance I've ever tubed but good Lord do you have to work. There is lit 0 current so you paddle the whole time, sometimes against the wind so you actually float backward. There were several groups that got towed off the river because they just couldn't paddle that long. Trying to use the one paddle they give you with a round tube means you'll wiggle side to side more than forward, we were more successful using our shoes and doing two arms at once than paddling. We mentioned to one of the tow guys that this wasn't a lazy river it's a paddle river and he claimed the current sometimes is so fast they consider closing the tubing...I'm doubting that's on any regular occasion given the amount of algae blooms we had to paddle through. The bus ride back was interesting, the driver jack-knifed the trailer and the glass on the door looked like it'd been shot at but given it's all of about 1/8th of a mile that was the most relaxing and exciting part of the whole trip. This weekend, a group of 13 of my friends went down to float along the Awesome Lazy River. We had tried to do this last year and had called ahead to ensure they had enough tubes which they ensured us we did. If you have a large group and all pay as one, you can get a group discount. I would recommend signing the waiver beforehand because that sped up the check in process. They had plenty of tubes which included singles, doubles, and rectangle cooler floats. We placed our cooler, snacks, shoes, and SUNSCREEN in the cooler float. We used paddles to get us started but didn't need them later except to navigate around a downed tree. We floated for about 2-3 hours and had a great time. The biggest downfall was the bus that carried you back to your car. Even though it's a large school bus, the driver isn't approved to carry more than 15 people. There is only one bus running so we did have to wait about 30 minutes to get on a bus. Overall, a very fun and relaxing day. It was worth the money and we will be back again this summer. read more

Lazy is an understatement. This river didn't go anywhere. We actually floated backwards for a while. 20 minutes of staring at the dock where we started, we got out where we put in. They advertise you will "float down the river" and that is not what you get. Borderline fraudulent. No refunds, rain check. Not with your time or money. read more

This was a very... interesting experience. The river was fun, truly it was. It was a beautiful day even. We asked the young guys helping us off the rafts at the end if they liked their jobs/ working in water and they literally responded with "it's better than but fucking" I am literally not kidding. I was with many gay friends and this was a wild shock. When we told someone about this that worked there, they justified it by saying "they are really young, you should get over it". If you've ever headed south on I-65 from Louisville, you've seen the The Most Awesome Flea Market in Shepherdsville. Well, just behind that, you'll find a lazy river! According to our shuttle driver, the Awesome Lazy River has been around for about five years. I've been following it on Facebook for a few years, and this week, I finally visited. Again, this is just off the I-65 exit. Follow the signs, as the GPS wants you to turn before where you really should, and then it's sort of weird when you get in the parking lot. Again, as long as you follow the signs, you're good. They open at 10 AM on Saturdays and Sunday until Labor Day Weekend, after which they close for the season. We arrived right around 10 with sunscreen on and coolers in hand. You'll see a stand where you pay, and they'll give you a wristband with the kind of floats you paid for. (Regardless of float, it's roughly $15 per person.) Then, you step over to pick up your floats. (We did two singles, a quad, and a cooler float. A cooler float fit two good sized bag coolers and was $5.) You then carry then down to the river (not too far), where you can choose to have someone help you get in OR a self service entry. MAKE SURE TO GRAB SOME OF THE PADDLES BEFORE GETTING THE WATER. We got help getting in. We also got some string/rope to tie our floats together. Once we were all in, we got situated and tied in a pod like we wanted... And that's when I realized.... there is little to no current in this water. (It's the Salt River, by the way.) However, what there was that day with the wind had us going in the opposite direction we were supposed to be doing! UGH! Thank goodness we grabbed those paddles. We ended up having to do much more work than expected to make it to the end. Crazy story... at one point, we noticed people in front of us coming back toward us. They said they had been out there too long and just decided to go back to the starting point!! WHAT?! Along the way, there are a few spots you can get off the river, along with a few rope swings. Honestly, getting off would've been too much work for me ("lazy"), but it's an option. I read a few reviews on Facebook mentioning the water being dirty, but I never noticed that aside from just a couple pieces of litter and some points where there was some broken up wood. There are a ton of reviews on Facebook, all of them saying it's about a 2 hour excursion, and it can be less if you paddle. The day we did it, we were on the river for over 4.5 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES. My reality did not meet my expectations, but it was okay; I was with some of my best friends and being LAZY (aside from when I was paddling). When you reach the end, you drop off your rafts and get in a shuttle. We got in an air conditioned (YAY!) van and immediately went back to our starting point. Our shuttle driver was nice, as were all the people with whom we interacted! Suggestions: -Bring some snacks. Some people had Subway sandwiches they were chowing down on as they were floating. We just ate a bunch of cans of Pringles. -Bring a Kroger bag to put your trash in; they'll have garbage bags for you to leave it in at the end. Don't litter! -Wear water shoes/sandals that wrap around your feet. We had to walk through the end, over lots of rocks, and these were a must! -If you're in a group, have one person pay (unless everyone is doing individual), and then pay each other back. -Be careful with valuables. They can store your keys at the front where you pay, but if you bring a phone, BE CAREFUL. A guy swam past us looking for his. I bought a waterproof holder and wore it with my key around my neck for the day. -Be lazy! Unless you visit on a day like we did, the span of the river really isn't that long, so if you don't need to paddle, don't. (And if you do need to paddle... do.) read more

Me and my two friends had a great time on the river today. River was a slow pace but I didn't mind. As a larger person I do reccomend getting another person and do the two person float. I had the single and it was fine but my neck was not supported. I used my life jacket as a neck support. I also recommend getting paddles, wearing lots of sunscreen, wearing water shoes, bringing a small cooler, and getting cooler float. Open containers of alcohol is illegal on the water in Kentucky. read more

I really had the best time floating down Salt River this past weekend! I had been eyeing this all summer on Facebook and thankfully the water level, current, and weather was just right. With that being said, I would check there to see if everything is okay to float that day. It's a short drive from Louisville, and just off I-65. Follow the signs like you are going to the Most Awesome Flea Market in Shepardsville. There are tents set up with nice tubes to rent. It is $10 if you bring your own float and $15 for an individual float, $30 for a double, and so on. They also have smaller floats to put coolers and things in for $5. Before you get in, they tie you together, suggest you grab a paddle and assist you getting in. The ramp in is paved and even has a nice bar to make hopping on your float flawless. The float does end up being long due to not much current (or it was the particular weekend I went). Also, I did not find the water overly dirty - it's a river, they aren't crystal clear. At the time you could still partake in adult beverage, just be responsible. They have people patrolling the river in a boat in case your float deflates or any other issue. At the end of the float there is a shuttle to take you back and assistance getting floats, trash, yourself out of the river, which is nice. Here are a few tips: 1. Pack water shoes - I cut my toe on a rock getting out toward the end where the water becomes very shallow. 2. Bring sunscreen. There really is not a lot of tree coverage when floating, my poor friend got fried like bacon. 3. Make sure and have a bag for your trash - no one likes a liter bug! read more

I had high hopes after seeing the constant posts on Facebook. I was a bit disappointed. They have plenty of signs directing you to the parking lot. Once parked, you pay for you tube and head to the river. This part of Salt River doesn't have much of a current so you don't move much. Luckily, one of our party had been before so we knew to grab paddles. We floated down the river at a snails pace for a good while. There were a lot of people stopping along the way to smoke weed. There were also a lot of people tossing their trash into the river instead of packing it out. They had trash cans at the end but no one was monitoring what happened between the start and finish. Once you got toward the end, the river was almost too shallow to float so we had to walk our floats to the end. The staff at the end didn't help us carry the floats up as they were too busy throwing rocks in the water. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. read more
