Plenty of shady spots and benches make it easy for parents (and grandparents!) to sit and relax while the kids burn off energy. The expansive brick-arched pavilion resembles a train station which is in keeping with the trains that travel down the town's Main Street daily. I was told that the pavillion is host to many musical events and the Saturday artisans/farmer's market. Also keeping with the town's love of trains, there is a piece of playground equipment fashioned after a locomotive. The playground has areas that are appropriate for younger and older children. Included in the areas are musical instruments, slides, rope bridge, climbing wall, merry-go-round and more. There is a building with very nice restrooms. There is an area of dedicated parking and there is also street parking available nearby. There is an abundance of nearby shops and eateries along Main Street.

I figured it's your average park with grass and a playground but wow it was a beautiful park with acres of water, picnic areas, and a playground. The ducks and geese's roamed wild and free on the larger waterfront and on the other pond I saw people with fishing poles fishing away. Not sure if they caught anything but they looked like they where enjoying their time. It was nice and relaxing. A good place to walk, great place to chill.

Yew Dell Botanical Gardens has been on my list of places to visit near Louisville for a while now…read more Last night I had the chance to go for the last Friday of the month Happy Hour/Farmer's Market. Admission was free, though I'd absolutely pay the $12 to visit again and spend more time wandering. Everything is really well maintained and labeled. This is a beautiful place! There's a fairy garden, perfect for kids and anyone else to walk through. There's a cafe with a great balcony overlooking lots of greenery. There's such a lovely variety of trees and flowers. There are benches adequately scattered around the gardens so you can easily find a nice place to sit and soak it all in.

There are plenty of spots for fishing but some of them you will need to take a short hike down a gravel road. If you bring a wagon make sure it has bigger wheels but probably best to carry everything to make it easier. There is a fishing dock as well that's pretty big and most definitely is shareable with a few groups. The hiking trail that extends around to the dam is a fun walk since it goes in and out of wooded covering. Makes it great for sunny days as well. The playground is nice and maybe small to moderate size. There are BBQ stands to use and picnic tables. There are bathrooms but not very quick to get to from most parts of the park so keep that in mind. Great place to kayak as well! Great views and since the lake is narrow it makes it feel more like a river to go through. Super fun place! Glad to see them doing more work on it Only criticism is that there is lots of trash and even though it's the patrons fault, the park could do a better job at cleaning it up. Watch your little ones so they don't pick up pokey fish hooks or broken bottles.

The park itself features a small playground, a full court basketball court and lots of soccer fields. If you follow the concrete path near the parking lot towards the patio area and soccer fields you can follow that path around a short trail that eventually takes you through a gravel paved wooded area that runs along side the soccer fields. It leads back out to the road where it circles back to the blocked off road at the entrance. It's a giant circle. But it's a peaceful and easy trail. Overall solid little park and it's pretty close to my home. So I'll come up here and let the girls play on the playground. It's very rarely crowded. Most of the crowd heads to the larger McNeely Lake Park about 3 miles down the road as it has several massive playgrounds. So a lot of time when we don't want to deal with bit crowds I'll make the short trip here and let the girls run wild and blow off energy.

A great little park and a good place to launch a kayak from without paying a launch fee…read more I haven't done any hiking or anything else here except for start an afternoon of kayaking. My friend made the suggestion when we were looking for spot to launch that wouldn't cost $15/boat. The convenience of this cost savings makes up for the downsides. The two downsides are the small, tight parking lot and the long trail from the parking lot to the place where you can put your kayak in to the water. That second problem could be mitigated by the use of a hand wagon...we just need to get one. Ha ha! I am eager to explore more of the park on foot, but I can certainly guarantee I will be back here for more kayaking adventures.

Really cool park that is hidden in a neighborhood of Prospect!…read more I came with a few friends and we hiked the trails. It's not a difficult hike, but there are some hills, rocks, creeks. There are benches to rest on and swings too. I got a bit out of breath sometimes because it was a bit more strenuous than I anticipated. We saw lots of people walking their dogs, kayaking/canoeing. There used to be a waterfall you could check out, but it's not closed off since it's private property. You can park down in here in the small lot.

The water in the ponds were either this unnatural blue color, or completely covered in a mossy algae film, and there were no fish of any kinds in the ponds. The pathway to walk was okay, pretty over grown. However the worst part of it all was the smell. The entire area smelled so strongly of sewage and bathroom smell, it was so unpleasant. Pretty disappointed in our lack of experience here but I'm sure with a little TLC the place could become much better.

This little hike was recommended to me after a snowstorm--which I definitely would not suggest…read more It's mostly uphill, and the wind turned everything into ice, making it really challenging to traverse. Outside of that particular experience (and once I was on the return down-hill), I realized this trail is short, simple, charming , and easy, with a few spots offering really pretty overlook views along the way. About halfway in, a babbling creek starts to follow you, hinting that you're nearing the final destination. Then you can hear the waterfalls before rounding a bend to reveal them. The falls are fantastic with multiple levels and a very peaceful melody. Just a heads-up: the trail begins with a walk down a service road since the original trail is now on private property, roped off as part of a very interesting-looking old house/building. At the end of the service road, there's a short but steep uphill path path to rejoin the trail. After that--smooth sailing.

I wasn't ready for that, but I made it! We got some beautiful pictures of the waterfall. The waterfall was easy to walk around in and can get wet if you wanted too. Great place to cool down as well. A perfect place to make you feel like you're on a mini get away. All tickets must be purchased…read moreonline and ahead of time. They are following the states restrictions and operating at a 33% capacity. I arrived at 10:30 am to get in line. It opens at 11:00. I was 4th in line and didn't get to a parking spot until 11:30. The procedure to get in is intense. Your ticket has to match your id. Then they literally search you entire car- they go through everything and open all bags, coolers, consoles, and glove box. Do not bring alcohol or drugs- they will find it and it's forbidden. Google the story as to why they are so strict- makes sense. Now on to the fun part! The space is beautiful, the water is so clear, and we had a great day of social distancing on the water. People watching was great, and it is somewhat like a float competition to see who has the most fun, instagram worthy float. Be ready to see plenty of fish. The area closest to the parking lot is more "rowdy", younger crowd, verses the opposite side was a little quieter, older crowd. All in all, I will be back now that I know what to expect.
