Dr. Summer James is by far the best doctor I have ever had. She was the first RE I saw when moving…read moreto San Antonio. She answered every single question I had in full detail...and trust me, I had a lot, some of them where off the wall what if questions and she never once made me feel stupid or as if I was a bother to her. I never felt like a number. I was known by name when I walked in the door! Now let me start on my actual treatments. My very first appointment was a consultation, and she did a ultrasound the same day so we could get the ball rolling. We found out I had a polyp, and she scheduled me for removal. After having my first HSG and suspecting my tunes were blocked and I was crushed, she was still optimistic, she scheduled me for surgery to see if it could be unblocked. It couldn't, and although I still had one tube, she advised that IVF would be best. Stem cycle...first off let me start by saying I was 28 when starting off, Dr James started me off on the normal dosage and while responded, my response wasn't what she wanted it do be, she gradually upped my dosage. I ended up with 28 eggs, 11 of the 28 were frozen at day 5 and 1 on day 6. FET#1 while it ended in a chemical, Dr James did a perfect cycle even while dealing with her own personal crisis, she never let me or any other patients fall by the way side. Fast forward to FET # 4 Dr James thought outside of the book, she never just once said well I don't know but let's just try this. She always took the time out to specialize treatment for me. I was allergic to so many things but she never gave up. I am now 23 weeks pregnant with twins!!! I am eternally grateful to Dr Summer James! I also recommended a friend to go see Dr James after having an unsuccessful cycle with another RE, Dr James was able to do the almost impossible, and my friend delivered a beautiful baby boy in February! I would recommend Dr. James over and over and over again with no hesitation. Even through my failed cycles Dr James was there! She never pressured me into anything, she always explained everything too me, explained her reason for why she was doing it and what the benefits were. I could go on for hours about how great she is. Forever grateful!

Other than her most professional skill, I appreciate the most is her friendly attitude. I always always feel close to her, and every time I see her, it calms me down. I know she gets this. From our first appointment, she has been nothing but patient. There is no stupid question for her. You can ask as many questions as you have and she will answer them one by one in detail with patient. She never rushes you out. We love her, she is my great doctor. and I definitely recommend her to anyone who need the service.

Most recently, I had a consultation with Dr. Munch to discuss a change in protocol. I didn't have to wait weeks for the appointment; in fact, I was able to make it the same day I called. In addition, in the consultation, I never felt rushed, and I left feeling so much better and more knowledgable about my options.

Veterans and DGD Patients, after 26+ years as a DGD patient it grieves me to make this Post about…read moreDGD customer service. But, if you're Reading this, your Health is Important to you, as much, as my Health is to me. The following rating is not a representation of the DGD Physician's or the in-Clinic services (5 STAR). This rating is for the Customer Service outside the clinic (1 STAR). Readers, just like you, at times we need specific assistance from the DGD specialized (referrals, pharmacy, etc.) departments. I have been waiting over 15 working days (since this Posting) for a Referral to a Neurologist through the VA Community Care (VACC). On day 4 of 15, I contacted VACC and was told that my Referral was Denied because no MRI (CD) images were provided by DGD in their Neurologist Referral (initial). On day 6 (after, message after message) of 15, I spoke to a DGD Referral Coordinator. They seem to not understand the VACC Referral Process. So, I asked if We could call them together. The Coordinator agreed, while I was listening, the Coordinator was given Instructions (to mail MRI CD) and a VACC POC Name, if more information was needed. Afterwards, the DGD Referral Coordinator informed me that mailing would take time. On day 9 of 15, the DGD Referral Coordinator called me to inform me that the MRI CD was going to be mailed to DGD Clinic or that I could pick-up my CD package and deliver it to DGD Clinic for faster Referral processing. On day 10 of 15, I drove and picked up the CD package. Then, I delivered the CD Package to DGD Clinic. On day 12 of 15, I got a call from the DGD Coordinator to inform me that the CD Package was sent to VACC. Also, to inform me that my Physician had contacted her regarding her customer service. On day 14 of 15, I contacted the VACC to find out the initial Referral was Denied and no longer functional. On day 15 (after, message after message) of 15, I spoke to DGD Referral Coordinator and was told that a Referral was included in the MRI Package (hard copy) when sent to VACC. I explained that, VACC wanted a Electronic Referral, not a Hard Copy Referral. I am sure, one day I will see a Neurologist for my bad Headaches. This condition has ended me up in the Emergency Room. Readers, DGD is not a vacation spot. In reality, it's a place we ALL wish we knew nothing about. That said, DGD Physician's pay all the Bill's (wages, facility, services, etc.) and will Hopefully address this Issue and/or other issues with staff training, customer tentativeness, or get Veteran Referral abled employees. DGD is one of our Lifeline resources and we need their Help - in and Outside the Clinic.

Let's begin with I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Najera, he is a brilliant physician who displays great concern for my health. He exuberates a wealth of knowledge, an amazing bedside rapport, and is extremely thorough with his care. He listens intently at your full medical history, I never felt rushed and that is difficult to find in healthcare today. He deserves a 5-star rating however his front-end office staff deserve a rating of a ZERO. No one should be treated the way I was, I will not be another name and a number, I deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and decency. To put everything in perspective let me explain. Originally July 2025 I started receiving care from Dr. Najera. I had a follow up appt in September and notified him I was unhappy with some difficulty obtaining correct lab orders from the office staff (that caused a 2hr delay in my day), issues with scheduling appointments (you can never talk to someone here in San Antonio it is an off shore call center) takes days for someone to attempt to call you back, and the office itself you cannot directly call. This is highly frustrating. He listened to everything and then sent in a lovely lady named Victoria (practice manager). She was absolutely amazing, listened to all my concerns and I left this appointment extremely happy. I then had another follow up appt in December 2025 everything went well. I was supposed to have a follow-up in March regarding lab work that was completed and received a phone call that they needed to reschedule. I said no problem, Jazmin offered me one day only to come in I already was working that day and that would not work for me and she said okay then come at end of June. I said absolutely not my appt was originally for March that is too far away for something that was not my fault. I escalated it to Melany, Jazmin thought she put me on hold and she didn't, I heard them conversating rudely in a insensitive way about how I couldn't make the appt. Melanie got on the phone and said she could offer a telehealth appt and I obliged that it would work perfectly due to the appt only was to discuss follow up lab work. My telehealth appt was scheduled for April 20th I had already completed all my online pre check-in verification with photos of my insurance card which they already had from prior visits and all questionnaires completed as well. I received a phone call from Eugene April 19th at 4:45 saying I needed to pay my copay right now or they would cancel my appt. and how the office closes at 5pm. I explained to Eugene that I was picking up my child from the bus stop I did not have my wallet at the time due to torrential rain we were receiving this day and the buses were running behind. I had no problem paying it first thing the following morning. He said no they needed it and I had 15 minutes to pay it or my appt would be cancelled. I escalated this to Jazmin-team lead and experienced rude conduct from her as well. Now please let me tell you I have no outstanding balances and I have always paid for all my appts. Then I asked for the office manager and Melany spoke with me I explained the unfortunate situation to her and she said I have 6 minutes to pay it or that's it. I told her I would speak to Dr. Najera the way I was being treated and questioned if they spoke to all their patients like this and Melany hung up on me and prior to slamming the phone down, I overheard he say "Cancel her appt". I am astounded that the office doesn't get more complaints with the bullish unprofessional conduct from the front-end staff. Patients pay for a service and it is astounding how I was treated and totally uncalled for. I have NEVER experienced such reprehensible and deplorable conduct from anyone. The physicians in this group would be astounded if they knew this was occurring from one of their office managers who should be setting examples to others in the office. I have thought about this over the last several weeks and because I feel Dr. Najera is a highly regarded endocrinologist and not easily replaceable I called the office three days in a row May 6, 7, and 8th, all three times got an AI bot named "Elvis" left a message and finally on May 8th received a text message back stating I could use the endobot chat feature on the website listed. I attempted twice without success. Extremely frustrating and infuriating when you are a patient attempting to advocate for your health. I cannot imagine if a patient had a reaction to a medication or needed an emergency appt due to complications, you would absolutely never get to speak to anyone in the actual office. That is appalling. I took the time to write this review for the safety of other patients and also in hope that the physicians are aware of how I was personally treated.
