I was craving some grouper for my birthday, so we decided to celebrate at this wonderful restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and seated at a large table by the window. Our waiter was attentive and promptly brought us water while we looked over the menu. We ordered several dishes, and everything was beautifully presented, fresh, and expertly prepared. As a birthday surprise, they treated me to a complimentary dessert. I chose the Oreo beignets, and the portion was generous enough to share with the whole family. They were absolutely delicious! We recently stopped by Harry's and overall it was a good experience. The food was tasty and the burgers had great flavor. I ordered mine medium rare, and my brother-in-law ordered his medium with bacon. When the plates came out, we realized the burgers had apparently switched identities -- mine was the medium and his was the medium rare. Not a crisis, just a little burger plot twist. We also asked for ketchup, which must have gone on its own little adventure because it didn't make it to the table the first time. read more

This place is my go to in central Florida for Cajun and Louisiana food. They have coupons mailed out to their followers and it is easy to get a $10.00 off of two dinners almost all the time. Our server approached us on a slow Monday evening acout 5:oo pm and smiled to our table and took our beverage orders and explained the regular menu and summer specials menu and we took advantage of great selections. Hot baked bread loaves along with cups of special softened butter was delivered while we waited for the main event. In no time flat, Michael delivered the best tasting food this side of the Mississippi River. We were also celebrating our other couple's anniversary, and then when she restaurant offered us a free dessert to share with the four,of us, and it was delicious. This was our first meal in Ocala since moving from Louisiana so we know Cajun food. Staff was very friendly but do not come here for a quiet romantic meal. This place has nailed it from the way they cooked the crawfish to consistency of the roux. This place is outstanding. Harry's describes itself as a New Orleans style restaurant. With that in mind, I ordered a classic Louisiana dish: shrimp étouffée. They served a hearty portion of shrimp, smothered in a thick, flavorful, and mildly spicy sauce over white rice. It was delicious, and I found myself sopping up every bit of the sauce with the fresh bread served on the side. If you order between 4:00 and 6:00, you can choose from the early bird special menu. The shrimp étouffée was just $17.99, which I thought was a great value. I also added a Caesar salad for $5.99. Harry's is located in the heart of downtown Ocala. The old building definitely gives off a NOLA vibe. Our server was terrific and made great suggestions. My wife loved her meal as well. I'll be back in Ocala soon and plan to return to Harry's. I have been a patron of Harry's for over 15 years. The Gainesville venue is closer to home. I actually had a small wedding reception there. Last night in Ocala, I was appalled by the hostess who showed us our table at 9 30 pm ( close at 11) and rudely told us " we are closing soon" threw the menus on the table and walked away. We had an amazing dining experience for Mother's Day. Ethan, our server, was absolutely fantastic,friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the start. Ethan made the whole meal even better with his great energy and service. My family and I started with the Crispy Calamari, which was perfectly fried and full of flavor. I shared the She Crab Bisque with my dad, and it was rich, creamy, and beautifully seasoned and it was definitely a highlight. For my entrée, I had the Crab-Crusted Red Fish Royale: a perfectly blackened red fish topped with sweet crab meat, served with corn maque choux, smashed potatoes, and finished with a luscious Louisiana beurre blanc. I'm not a big fan of crab cakes and it was incredible. The fish was so tender as well and I had to pace myself because it was too good to not eat the whole entree. I even had leftovers which I was pleasantly surprised. Every bite was flavorful and indulgent, and the presentation was spot on. (March 2026) Visiting from Chicago and we were walking around and found this spot. Saw they had a happy hour which is just their drinks, not a special food menu but that's ok. Warm bread and awesome garlic butter served immediately. I had the chicken and grits because I'm not big on Cajun or NOLA flavors but oh my goodness. The chicken and grits was delectable. My husband had jambalaya and he was pleased. The drinks, $8 specialty drinks we had were the Floridian and the Margarita were amazing. Didn't skimp on the libations. Also had a starter of fried calamari. Ask for extra dipping sauce. The breading is so good. Service was great at 2:00 pm on a Monday. We will be back and highly recommend. read more

Harry's is a place that everyone in Ocala seems to know about. There are a few locations! They are in the home office in Jacksonville, one in Tallahassee, a Lakeland location, one in Gainsville, our notorious Ocala Harry's and then St. Augustine ! The food is considered "Modern Southern Cajun' with a nice variety of flavors from all different kinds of fresh seafood, meat, poultry and dishes that are just wonderful! There is a lunch menu, early dining menu and a dinner menu each with fabulous options to choose from. There are handhelds, fantastic salads, appetizers and main dishes, side dishes that are all incredible. The desserts if you have room left are insanely delicious! If you have a specific preferences or alternatives I'm not sure if it is their norm but they definitely have accommodated me when I have been in need in certain moments. The service is always wonderful but beware that there are times you just have to wait for a table. If you are willing to be seated outside often this is generally quicker especially on a weekend evening. If you go early it's not usually an issue. People around town seem to flock here and it usually is an older crowd. I am one of the older ones so I am just aware. It's semi casual and if you would like to go and be more relaxed, I suggest during the week when it's slightly less busy. I've been here numerous times and it never disappoints no matter what I have. Here I just have a burger over a salad as that was what I was craving. This they did remarkable and to my specifications! Finally made it to Harry's! Well it's a really neat place to go into a Historic place. Very clean / staff was good. Our waitress I " think" had a lot of customers but not sure she was super nice and answered all my questions but somethjng was making her way to slow. WAY too long waiting for cocktails and water. I mean like over 15 min and she kept apologizing so she knew it. But again fine staff member. The food was really good! Appetizer of the blue crab legs was really good! Ordered the Chicken tenders /corn grits EXCELLENT! Other order was of the Blackend fish tacos w/Corn grits WOW one of the BEST! Then got cocktail's they were really good! BUT the Old fashioned said Filthy Cherry in it NOT! Just a plain Marchiano one! I buy the Filthy cherry brand and I give my niece the cheapo marchianos in her Shirley temples.... The place was packed and there was a 45 minutes before closing wait. Luckily, we were seated in only 25 minutes probably because we were a party of 2. Went here for lunch with a friend. I had never been before. It's decorated for Christmas now (Nov 2024) and they're playing nice holiday music. I loved the ambiance and the festive decorations. We tried the Eggplant off the holiday menu (it's an appetizer) - it's' breaded in panko, has lump crabmeat on it and a delicious Cajun sauce. This was awesome. We also each had a cup of the She Crab soup. It comes with warm bread and garlic herb butter. The soup was so yummy - plenty of bits of crab and such depth of flavor. I used every bit of that bread for dipping in the soup and loved every minute of it. We also ordered a side of Collard Greens (I was just really craving them). My friend had never had them, so we had to try Harry's version. They were plentiful, not bitter at all. Loaded with meat and had a Cajun kick - nice heat but not too much. Helped cut through the richness of our other choices and were tasty. For dessert we tried the Oreo Beignets - I don't often buy Oreos and didn't think I'd be a fan, but we were both surprised at how good these were. The Oreos were soft and gooey on the inside, enveloped with perfect beignet batter (not greasy) and sprinkled with powdered sugar, then drizzled with white and dark chocolate sauces. I feel like I need to walk 5 miles after that meal, but it was so worth it. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and quick. Also, the bathrooms were clean and well lit. I felt the prices were competitive for the food we ordered as well as the overall quality of the food, which was excellent. TIP: They have a holiday menu with some great items on it, that you can order for lunch or dinner (I want to come back for the sirloin, lobster, shrimp dinner). And, you can purchase a $100 gift card and you get a $100 and a $30 card, so it's a good deal if you plan to come back. They also allow you to split the $100 on 2 $50 cards if you want - so good gifts. I'll definitely come here again. read more

I hate writing negative reviews, so I rarely do, but our experience at Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille in downtown Ocala last night was incredibly disappointing. My husband and I arrived at 10:10 PM on a Saturday night (they close at 11 PM), and from the moment we walked in, we felt like an inconvenience. The hostess (I didn't catch her name) appeared visibly annoyed that we had come in so close to closing, which immediately set an uncomfortable tone. Unfortunately, things didn't improve once we were seated. Our server, Fayth, also seemed frustrated by our arrival time. While there were still several tables occupied in our section, the staff began closing procedures almost immediately--sweeping, vacuuming, and moving tables and booths all around us. It felt less like dining in a restaurant and more like we were in the way of their cleanup. Within minutes of receiving our drinks, Fayth brought refills when we had barely even touched our first drink, which made us feel rushed rather than cared for. Throughout the entire experience, the focus seemed to be on closing the restaurant and not on providing a welcoming dining experience. When our food arrived, it was only warm and lacked both flavor and proper consistency. It honestly felt like the kitchen had already mentally shut down and our meals were prepared with minimal effort. To make matters worse, we observed staff cleaning and then immediately handling food with bare hands, which gave us a strong "ick" factor and raised concerns about hygiene. By the time dessert was mentioned, it was clear we were expected to decline--and we did. We finished quickly and left by 10:45 PM, feeling unwelcome, rushed, and disappointed. We completely understand that arriving close to closing (50 minutes prior) isn't ideal, but if a restaurant is open until 11 PM, guests should still be treated with the same level of service and care as any other time of day. Loved our meal here! Went for Sunday lunch with the kids. Parking is free on Sundays, though you may need to walk a few blocks. Service is excellent and loved that we could call ahead. Cocktails were perfect--refreshing and not too sweet. Fresh bread and butter were really tasty. Everything on the lunch menu is very reasonably priced and perfectly portioned and we could have chosen several items. Thrilled with our final selections--shrimp and grits, andouille crusted grouper, and sides of greens. The kids menu is also very nice, with a variety of sides. I, my wife and my sister and brother in law (visiting from Ohio) went to Harry's Seafood and Bar in downtown Ocala Florida. The food was very enjoyable and promptly served. The seating set up indoors was a bit cramped for four people parking was horrendous. We tried 3 different meters that were difficult to work with. We ended up walking from 3 blocks away. You can barely read the screens on the meters and both my brother in law and I tried different credit cards but they simply didn't work, but worked fine in the restaurant. I decided to use the facilities and noticed the bar floor was cracked and appeared to be heaving up This place is considered one Ocalas nice restaurants and it should look that way. On another point, I would like to reiterate that my pasta supreme was very good and the mahi mahi my wife had was good as well according to my wife. My inlaws had excellent meals as well! In short, great food, but the atmosphere is not memorable nor romantic for date night. read more

We ordered two mixed drinks that apparently went on a spiritual journey and never returned. When our food came out, we canceled the cocktails and ordered wine instead--also never seen again. My meal had to be sent back because the rice and sides were ice cold, which was fun. Even better, my daughter ordered shrimp tacos and received fish. A surprise! Our waiter looked completely lost and blamed everything on the bartender. Plot twist: I walked to the bar myself and got drinks quickly and easily, so the bar was clearly functioning. The service at our table, however, was not. Between missing drinks, wrong food, cold food, and zero accountability, this place managed to turn a simple dinner into a full experience in frustration. Les se le bon temps rouler! Lunch at Harry's was one of the only dining experiences in Florida that has taken me back to New Orleans with the decor, music, food and drinks. I was pleasantly surprised and as someone raised on the Gulf Coast I'm not easily pleased by "Cajun" restaurants outside of Louisiana or Mississippi. At Harry's the decor has exposed brick, intricate floor tile, and a New Orleans reminiscent feel. Our server was quick, friendly, and always kept our drinks full. We started off with sweet tea, which was just the right balance of strong black tea and sweet sugar. We begin our meal with fresh bread and a perfectly spreadable herb butter. For an appetizer we tried the fried crab claws, which word perfectly fresh and hot, crispy, and came with a tasty remoulade sauce. My husband and I split the black and red fish and grit cakes, which was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and was heaven for the taste buds. We entered our meal by splitting the banana creme brulee, which was a beautiful marriage of the classic creme brulee and the toasted banana of New Orleans classic dish, bananas Foster.
