This was hands down, my best fast breakfast during my trip in England! Stumbled onto this lovely coffee pastry shop before heading to watch the changing of guards at the Buckingham Palace, so wanted to get a quick meal before diving into the crowds. The barista and coffee shop staff were so patient and nice - especially when I inquired about ingredients in the pastries and asked to have my Spinach Ricotta Roll heated. Overall it was a great experience - good food, good coffee, and exceptional service. Food-wise: we got a spinach ricotta roll and a custard croissant - and loved both. The spinach ricotta roll was a perfect combination of your comfort hot breakfast with egg + spinach + cheese, plus the flaky buttery outer-layer of a croissant. There was also a bit of spicy kick to it - which I loved! Remember to ask for it to be heated. The custard-filled croissant was also heavenly creamy, with the buttery outer-layer of a croissant, this can be enjoyed at room temperature. Drink-wise: we got a Americano and a flatwhite, which were both really good and hot - definitely woke us up for the early morning / jetlag, which helped prep us for day! They also had some nice tables inside the coffee shop to sit and enjoy your food - so it's also a great place to bring your laptops to. Overall - nothing helps more to start a great morning like a great breakfast, and I think this place had the magic that turned our cloudy morning into a great sunny day - would definitely revisit when I'm back in the UK! read more

The amazing bakeries are one of the main reasons why I absolutely love London. Hart & Lova is no exception. Their passion fruit cheesecake is one of the best I've had! It's extremely light yet creamy and flavourful. The texture is soft like pudding (which is surprising for a cheesecake) but it works so well. Would definitely be back to try other desserts! The owner mentioned how extraordinary their coffee is - would take their word and try it next time. read more

Looking for tasty breads and sweet bites with a nice cup of coffee in Kilburn? You definitely want to go to Hart & Lova Bakery. So far, Kilburn was not the place where I considered going to buy artisan bread or drink a decent cup of coffee. Now, after I've realised that Hart & Lova Bakery opened on Belsize Road, just a minute from the Kilburn High Road Overground station, this might change. I wonder what took me so long to discover this place. The shop is beautiful and light with a warm atmosphere. The wooden tables just add to the cosyness. The staff are very friendly and helpful when, like me, you cannot always decide instantly which of the things you would probably like most. The simple answer might be, that you should come often enough and try it all. It's also great to see that the actual baker is present in the shop. I really enjoyed my pain au chocolate. It tasted lovely and everything about it was just right. However, I must admit that I was a little bit disappointed by the raspberry fudge, as I had been hoping for a stronger raspberry flavour. Hart & Lova Bakery uses Monmouth coffee, a good choice, and my flat white looked beautiful. Unfortunately, I thought it was not quite strong enough, it seemed somewhere between a flat white and a latte. Still perhaps the best in the area. Hart & Lova Bakery should surely be one of the most delicious bakeries in Kilburn. While not everything is absolutely perfect, I am more than happy to go there again and check out some of their other sweet delights and savoury breads. read more

It took me a while to come around, because my first test of a bakery is a pain au chocolat, and to be honest, it didn't impress me -- a bit bready for my taste. However, the tarts are the best I've had anywhere. They're perfect to bring over to a friend's place... or my own! The pastry crust is just right, and the flavours are complex and not overly sweetened. They're more expensive than pastries out of the supermaket case, but seriously, there's not even a comparison on quality. I'm still exploring their menu as I give myself the allowance to splurge. My other guilty pleasure is their croissant "croutons". Beware, I've eaten a whole bag in a sitting, and you may well too! Update based on later visits: quiches are tasty, especially warmed up. Tried their apple tart (strudel-style) and carrot cake; both too sweet for my taste. I also finally sat in during the day on a weekday, and the service was wonderfully proactive. Great atmosphere for a bit of short coffeeshop working. There are signs politely asking to limit wifi use to two hours. read more

I love Kilburn but what it is (was) missing are nice cafes and bakeries because cafe Nero and Greggs don't count. Hart & Lova is just what I was hoping for when I moved back to the area. I've been popping in on the weekends to pick up a fresh, still warm, loaf of sourdough - nothing beats it! Stopped in properly once for a decent coffee and an amazing salted caramel and pecan tart with a very thin perfect pastry to maximise caramel goodness. A couple of things weren't quite as spectacular, and maybe the guys there could smile, but I'll forgive that for how lovely everything else was. read more

Fantastic little bakery, with friendly service and tables inside and out. Have been here multiple times now, for eating in and takeaway. Some of my favourites: Cakes -- love their Victoria sponge. Satisfyingly high cream to jam ratio. A case full of other cakes I've yet to try as well. Matcha, flourless chocolate, Guinness, to name a few. But so far, their Victoria sponge has been a winner. I'm probably averaging at least a slice per week. Savoury Breads -- had the spinach and jalapeño heated and it's so wonderfully moist and doughy as you get to the centre. Not for the faint of heart though, was seriously spicy. In addition to breads, sandwiches, quiches and other standard fare like sausage rolls, they do breakfast items like eggs, bacon and avocado on an English muffin, which was tasty. So happy to have such a neighbourhood gem nearby! read more

This is a charming bakery with some exceptional pastries (the croissants rival anything you would find in a Parisian patisserie). The staff is very friendly and it's a really pleasant departure from all of the chain cafes that surround it. A few things that could be improved upon though: - Speed of the service. I'm never really sure whose turn it is to order and it seems like they are trying to take several orders at once. They've also gotten my order wrong a few times (including one time when I ordered a latte and they brought out a bowl of granola). Again, the staff is so well-intentioned that it's hard to be upset, but if they could tighten up their service, it would make for a much more pleasant experience. - Technology policy. It's a relatively small cafe that makes good use of its space, so I get why they don't want people to linger, but I was caught off guard when I was told I couldn't have my laptop out on the weekend. I had already ordered my coffee and planned on ordering some food when I was told I couldn't have my laptop. I'm a pretty regular customer and I wasn't planning on loitering. I just wanted to do some work and enjoy my coffee for an hour or so. Customers NOT using technology tend to linger for just as long. They were really nice about it (as they always are), but it kind of messed up my whole morning.The policy IS printed on the menu, but it's in tiny font at the very bottom whereas the big sign on the wall reads "feel free to use our Wifi for 2 hours." All in all it's a very nice place to stop for a coffee and a bite-- a little oasis in the middle of a bustling city. Hopefully they'll tweak their service a bit and get a little more clarity on their technology policies. read more

Hart & Lova is one of those bakery cafes that people dream of living near. It's just the perfect strolling distance so it's ideal for lazy Saturday croissant breakfasts, but not so near that the coffee and croissant habit becomes a daily habit. Although with pastries the size of your face it's well worth the trip. If you can grab a table, do (it's quiet on weekday afternoons until the local schools send the kids home) or just get yourself a takeaway hot chocolate and a brilliant, brilliant cake. I wasn't completely fussed by the soup, but every cake from here has been incredible. The staffare so lovely that I always seem to stay longer than planned. This is a real treat for Kilburn, long may it stay my local. read more

One of my favorite things about staying in different neighborhoods when I visit London is that I happen upon lovely spots such as Hart and Lova. The bakery treats are delightful and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I tried a mozzarella sandwich first, then came back for a ham & cheese croissant, and again for the English muffin with poached egg and avocado. Everything is deliciously fresh and well seasoned. I love it when I find a local place I like. This cosy little bakery-come-coffee shop offers bread, cakes, biscuits snacks - all freshly baked on the premises by Andrea (owner) and her small team. You can order all sorts of cakes for special occasions. Andrea caters for gluten and dairy free too and has a variety of breads on offer, including sourdough. There's Monmouth coffee and various exotic teas served in unusual cups or glasses to enjoy in warm, bright and friendly surroundings. All reasonably priced. No internet yet, but soon to be installed. Eclectic mixture of furniture and ornaments which has been collected or recycled and some pieces made by Andrea herself (very talented lady). Well worth a visit. read more

I love this bakery. This morning I had a fresh baked English muffin with a fried egg and it was spectacular--I also go out of my way to buy loaves of bread here, as it's crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside and really tastes homemade, but better. I especially like the spinach and walnut one. They made my dad's birthday berry tart, which was worthy of one of London's swish food halls (indeed, Hart + Lova is a supplier to one) but much more reasonably priced. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is laid back, with attention to what's important. Nice wooden tables, natural plants, cute mismatching dishes. It's not just the best in the area, but could also compete in any of the posher neighboring areas like Primrose Hill or Hampstead. Hope they one day expand without losing their soul! read more

Went here as a friend lives nearby. Was recommended as she loves the bakery here. Was greatly disappointed with the coffee as they did have Soya Milk but didnt make it properly as it curdled in the coffee, never experienced this before anywhere so was greatly disappointed. Also found that the prices were quite reasonable. Will not come back for Coffee but maybe for the cake, as heard great things about it. read more

This is the cutest bakery and cafe for many miles! Non-chain coffee shops are very rare in London, and this one is a proper European style one with a cute and modern decor. Prices are relatively high for Kilburn (more on the Central London end), but all food and drinks I've had a great and are absolutely worth it. read more
