Worst customer service ever. I could not beg them to help me. They sat around chatting as I combed through the messy store unaided. Awful!!

You know those reviews that say, 'Would give zero reviews if I could'? This is one of them. Ordered a Weber grill on a Sunday and scheduled delivery for Friday. Received a call on Thursday that the delivery truck broke down and they would need to deliver on Saturday morning. No problem. By 11:00 on Saturday, I had not heard from them and gave them a call. Was told that they could not deliver to my house because it had an apartment number. She said they do not deliver to apartment buildings. I said, I do not live in an apartment building, I live in a house with 4 units, not an apartment building. (And if delivering to an apartment building was an issue, should be stated on the website or time of order). Good to go. She told me the driver would there in 30-45 minutes. I asked for the delivery driver to go to the TOP the driveway, as the grill would be located in the back of the house. I waited, never received a call he was at my house, but heard some commotion at the BOTTOM of the driveway. I looked out the window; saw the truck leaving, and the grill between two cars on my front lawn. STUNNED. Since I am in a boot with a broken foot, I had to call a friend to come over to help get it up the driveway. Had I know this would be what 'delivery' meant, I would have picked the grill up myself. read more

This store is what customer service is all about! I searched for an item on line and called to confirm it was in stock. Although it was not in stock, Doug went out of his way to get me what I needed, held it for a week. When I finally got in to pick it up on a busy Saturday it was there waiting for me and Doug took the time to discuss the application. Those big box stores would never come close! read more

I ordered online for same day pick up. Was told had four in stock. I received a order confirmation and everything. Eta for pickup even stated same day. This was on Saturday at 3pm. No big deal theyre open Sunday. Still not a call or email. Monday being a holiday I knew they wouldn't be open. Tuesday they call and leave a voice-mail saying it should be on the truck. Keyword being "should". Well it is now Wednesday morning and I received an email stating my order is now canceled and refunded. Not acceptable at all. read more

I do not live in the area but was purchasing an item as a gift and wanted it delivered. I am a frequent Ace Hardware shopper in my town and they are always so helpful and courteous and was expecting a similar experience. I called to make sure they had it in stock and the price was the same as here ($150.00) and everything seemed great until I said I wanted it delivered. It seems that they only deliver within 5 miles and my location was 5.1 miles and they would not deliver it and told me try Home Depot or have the gift recipient pick it up. Very poor and disappointing customer service. read more

Its what you want in a local hardware store. Been coming here since moving to Wakefield 15 years ago. Great to have a place that when you come, you know you are going to get quick sound advice along with the right product/tool for the job. No, the prices typically are not lower than Home Depot, nor do they have the longer hours. By way of example, last night I went to Home Depot twice (after Hart's closed) to do a minor kitchen sink piping repair, and both times was given the wrong parts, by a guy that knew as much about sink repair as I did...so off to Harts I go this morning, where I know I will get the right stuff...which (I keep forgetting this) is worth so much more than the $1-$2 more I might have to pay over the big box store. read more

They always to seem to have what I need and there is always someone available to help. I never found that in the big box store. I have been a loyal customer for years for this reason. And they have talked me through many repairs and home improvements and always given sound advice. Prices are good. Sales are great. read more

I've been going to the hardware store dozens of times over the last 15 years. They could have the best customer service not only for a hardware store but for anywhere you shop. They are knowledgeable about almost anything you could possibly ask and have a surprising large inventory of stock to have the piece, part or replacement that you will need to complete your project. Called to see if they carry shampoo for carpet cleaning machines, they put me on hold, and forgot about me, while I listened to a guy and a girl chatting in the background. When I called back a few minutes later, and asked about carpet cleaner again, the guy just hung up on me. I called back again, and this time got hung up on without anyone even saying hello. Very disappointed by such incompetence and complete lack of courtesy. read more

The folks here are as good as they come! I go in there constantly with a problem that needs to be solved, but not knowing how to describe what I need to buy to do so as I am not a DIY person AT ALL. Gary Hart (and everyone there really, but I always try and find Gary) listens patiently to my crazy explanations of what I want to do or am looking for and always figures out what the best thing would be for the job, how to use it when a description is needed and where to find it...or will tell me honestly that there's no such thing! Everyone there really knows their stuff and are always extremely helpful. There are so many fascinating things in there I could probably spend an afternoon wandering the aisles quite happily. I do wish it was a bit larger, but realize that cannot be remedied. If they don't have it and it can be ordered they are happy to do it. You can also order things at the ACE website and have them shipped to the store for free for pickup. I much prefer this small store to one of the big ones where no one has time to listen and you need to pack a lunch and water to find the items you are looking for...assuming you know what they are in the first place! read more

I've been coming here for 28 years. This store is great. The people are knowledgable and friendly. The prices are very reasonable and they most likely have what you need. Reminds me of when I was kid going to the ma and pa hardware. Shopping here is great experience and you help out the small local business. read more

Hart's Hardware is the best. I should know, since I used to work there. As a fairly new homeowner, my husband and I have been to Hart's many times asking for some help with do-it-yourself projects. Lenny, Doug, Gary and Juanita are all super helpful and knoweldgable. You will never get this kind of attention at a big hardware store. Hart's also carries a "green" four step law program that is reasonably priced and does not contain chemicals. All prices are competitive and the service can not be beat. read more
