I've bought all the interior and exterior paint for our house over the past 20 years at ColorWorks. They sell paint. Mission accomplished. It is often a busy store--they cater mainly to the busy trade in the Melrose area--so be patient, but if you know what you're looking for, they're great and well organized. They even managed to find a paint card from 25 years earlier when we were trying to match a can from the previous owners. I am sure the legacy review have some merit, but it doesn't reflect my experience with this local business. read more

I've never written a Yelp review before, but today's experience at this Benjamin Moore compelled me. My 3-year-old and I stood waiting quietly for nearly 15 minutes for our turn to be helped. While we waited, my son calmly counted the rolls of painter's tape stacked on a shelf, not running around, just counting and stacking. Completely harmless. Out of nowhere, the employee began verbally berating me for letting my toddler make a mess and "be annoying." I was stunned. There was no chaos. There was no disruption. Just a bored little kid counting tape while we waited for service that never came. The tone was hostile, condescending, and completely unprovoked. If this is how they treat parents with well-behaved children, I can't imagine how they treat anyone else. If you want quality paint and a business that treats customers like human beings, go to the Benjamin Moore in Malden or Ace in Stoneham instead. They're friendly, helpful, and professional -- everything this location is not. This store has lost my business permanently. And we've spent thousands as we've renovated our home over the years. But judging by today, they never seemed interested in earning it in the first place. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. me and my parents went into the store because we wanted to support a local business and it was convenient to buy paint but honestly the workers are so rude and so fucking racist. Mind you we are Chinese and it wasn't like we spoke broken english, our english was perfectly fine and you could understand us. when we asked their recommendation for paint colors they ignored us and when we tried again, they told us there are a lot of colors on the wall and if we had any questions we could ask them, but honestly they seemed super annoyed when we spoke to them? as we were looking at colors, a white woman who was around her 20-30s came in and a female worker with long brunette hair started chittering and chattering like a obnoxious bird, trying to help the woman who was also looking at paint and trying to decide on a finish. she was chattering about satin finishes and whatnot and we just basically stood there confused, trying to figure out paint colors WITHOUT any help. there was this old couple who also came in but they left pretty fast because no one was helping them and honestly good for them because we got our samples and left the damn place ALSO the female worker gave the female customer a bag for her sample paints, gave her instructions, and also sponge paint brushes (5 of them to be exact) while we got NONE 9 of that. there was also a male worker there and honestly he did NOT know what he was doing and it only looks like he's there to mix up the colors and stand there to be utterly useless. definitely will NOT be coming back and giving this place my money because it's NOT worth it. the owner of this place also doesn't seem to concern himself with trying to fix his mistakes and address all these 1 star reviews so this place isn't going to make it far whatsoever. read more

I had a great experience there this morning. I needed to select paint colors quickly and was overwhelmed trying to make the decisions. I brought in my kitchen cabinet samples and the colors my contractor had suggested. A young woman named Miranda gave me her full attention and worked with me. She totally got my style and helped me select colors. She suggested making up some samples for me to try at home and made them up in a flash. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and I left feeling very satisfied and excited. I highly recommend them! read more

I will never go here again. I went in on a snowy Saturday morning (1/18/14) to look for some paint color inspiration for our home. There was one clerk in the store and she was working with a customer. I assumed give her a minute or two to say hello acknowledge I was there and say she would be with me shortly??! That seemed like a reasonable expectation. No. Not at all. Walked around for 15 minutes and not even a hello. At one point she even reached across me to get a sample color card and not even an excuse me. I felt invisible. So rude. Months later I still comment to my husband every time we drive by. Shame because I would love to support local town business, but not this one! Better off at Town line paint in malden. Very kind staff and there's always someone to help you. read more

I'm really not sure what ever happened to customer service or your neighborhood hardware store, but it's really disheartening when I try to support a local business and I get attitude from grumpy staff members. My husband literally called an hour ago and asked if they sold samples of paint, we were told yes, and the price. So we put our daughter in the car, on a rather chilly day, and head out. I go to the counter and say "I'd like to buy some samples" and the gentleman says "ummm.... what color? Because I'm probably gonna have to say no" Ooookay. So I tell him we called and he says "I probably had them then." I'm not entirely sure why he was asking what color I wanted, I can't figure out why that would matter, but irregardless.... So, long story short, they won't have any more in 'til Monday, at which point they can sell them to someone else. read more

Terrible customer service here. Act like they wish they didn't have to wait on you or answer your questions.

I've always good experiences here. Have purchased paint about 1/2 a dozen times and everyone is typically very helpful. Even store the colors that you have purchased in their system for future reference-just in case. Very good paint too of course! read more

Just went into the store as suggested by the painter that is painting my house. The younger gentleman (dark hair) that was to assist me exhibited the worse attitude and customer service that I have experienced in a while. I explained that the painter who was painting the exterior of my house suggested I come in and work with them to get assistance with picking a color(s) that were close to the look I was going for. This gentleman's response was "uhhhh, Scott is so annoying". I picked 3 colors and asked him a few questions again and he was super abrupt, curt, and acted like I was annoying him. His manager needs to remind him that this is his job - he should show up and be ready to treat customers with respect and be ready to assistance else he should find a new job. I will not personally give this store any more of my business and I will be sure to let our painter know that the paint store he gives his business to refers people to says thank you by calling him annoying! read more

I agree completely with the other reviewer - they act as though it is an inconvenience to wait on you. I called 20 minutes before they closed to have some paint mixed (I live two minutes down the road and would be there in plenty of time) and they acted as though it was a major inconvenience. And this is after dropping several hundreds of dollars on paint there. Also, their "color expert" is not helpful and talks down to you when asked for advice. I'll be buying the rest of my Ben Moore paint from Hillside in Medford, much better customer service. read more
