I went a few times this last year and was very impressed…read more You cannot go wrong at any stand. From veggies and cheeses to meats, seafood and breads. You can find everything. My one suggestion would be to walk through before you decide where to shop. The largest market starts the line at The Charles and many smaller vendors follow. This certainly did not affect the quality of produce as I actually found my rare tomatillos at the very farthest from the "start" of the market. I have moved recently and am no longer close but I would suggest this to anyone local. Even if just to walk through for the fun of it! Great people and Great Harvest all season!

Everything else is pretty fantastic though. The vendors are incredibly helpful and often remember me from week to week and season to season. Once you hit end of June, the produce is plentiful until the market closes in November. Don't just barrel through here. Walk around, talk to the vendors, and ask them how they would prepare it something that's new to you. One season doing this will turn you into the one everyone asks what a random veggie is at your local overpriced restaurant. Score. Btw, this market doubles your EBT dollars if you have it and lets you use credit cards (go to the market manager)

Early and late in the season (June and October) its a bit sparse so plan on using that time to stock up on local honey, jam, and baked goods if you go then. Insider trading: talk to the farmers. This is my absolute favorite thing about the farmers markets because: 1. Most of them are CHARACTERS and have quirky personalities or sayings (like the guy with the hard core Worchester accent who says "If that's the worst thing that happens to you and me today...we're doin' allllright" at least 2x each day when someone apologizes for dropping his tomato or something) 2. They can teach you about produce you will NEVER see in a grocery store like lemon cucumbers, pattipan squash, and sugar plums 3. They have good cooking advice and get really excited when you ask

The market is small, the produce is fresh, and I'm assuming organic. It's cash only though, so be prepared. Price ranges from $3-$10 depending on the produce. It's also just a beautiful farm to walk through. They have sheep, chicken, ducks and im sure other animals roaming around. Farms are my happy place, so finding this place so close to Cambridge was exciting for me. Closed in the winter, but be sure to visit & buy local when the weather is nice again. Family owned, they had their kids helping out with bagging, etc. and were very accommodating in general (I had a few questions/requests!).

It is always lively and bustling. By purchasing food and goods here, you're supporting local farmers, makers, and artisans, which is awesome. More dollars go into supporting the local economy. You also know where your food and goods are coming from. For me, that's hugely important. The vendors are all super-friendly and will answer any questions you have.
