ordered a bacon cheddar breakfast sandwich that was to have bacon, egg, cheddar, arugula, chipotle mayo, on a ciabatta roll. Received half an English muffin with egg, bacon, and cheese, no arugula, no mayo. Went back up to ask for at least the mayo as this was a nine dollar breakfast sandwich and then was told they don't have any of those things. When we walked up she was on her phone while we stood there for a solid 3min. & did not wash her hands before touching our food. Gloves were right there too, didn't even bother. The shop is cute, but both service and coffee lacked in quality. The man who took our order was unfriendly, and our coffees were disgusting! We ordered two black beans (cold brew & vanilla sweet cream) and our drinks were literally white because the coffee was basically water and there was so much milk in it. $14 down the drain because we both threw our drinks away. I watched him make the drinks and it was just vanilla coffee mate and a pitcher of water coffee. I suggest finding another coffee location at DTW. read more

So happy to find a spot in the airport serving Mighty Good coffee and Avalon pastries!! For an airport cafe, Harvest & Grounds is really fantastic. Prices are not too bad for an airport, about $1 more than the original locations, and compared with the Zingerman's baked goods at Plum Market in Terminal A I think they're extremely reasonable - cold brew is $4, scones are $4.25, cookies are $2.50, and the brioche is slightly over $5. Of the baked goods I think the scones are the best option; I like the chocolate cherry the most, followed by the cinnamon, but the lemon blueberry is also quite good (the lemon flavor isn't that strong). They're really buttery and not dry or tough at all. The cookies are ok but not as good as the scones; they're the thin crispier kind and I found them too sweet. I don't think the sweet brioche is very good. The coffee is the best in the airport in my opinion. The cold brew tastes good and is not too strong (which is nice before a flight). I liked the Black and Tan (cold brew and chocolate milk, $4.50) - not too sweet! There are also cold sandwiches in the $10-ish range, but I haven't tried any. Service has been extremely friendly both times I've been here, and the location at the entrance of Terminal C is super convenient, so I'll be stopping by whenever I'm at this airport. read more

The staff was overwhelmed but still super nice and smiled with me as I am also in the coffee biz. It was over priced but it is airport pricing in my opinion and no different from Starbucks. 5 stars for the drink! I got an excellent iced chai. Prices were high, but what can you expect at an airport? The real downer here was the service. It was incredibly slow, and your airport location should be faster than usual. Instead, there was one older lady who was very hard of hearing making the drinks and running the register, and I felt bad for her. She was obviously panicking and stressed, since she was the only one working. And after anyone ordered a coffee drink, she had to stop and make that person's drink before taking any more orders, so we were waiting in line about 15 minutes. Poor lady! They need to hire someone to help her out. On my way back I'll be trying a Black & Tan because that drink looked fantastic. read more

Today I just found this little gem. They just opened in the B concourse of the Macnamara terminal. I had an awesome vegan sandwich and a cup of cold Nitro coffee. They had a wide variety of different delicious looking pastries. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They also had a bunch of books, magazines, and other typical airport newsstand snacks and beverages. Definitely my new favorite place to get a coffee at the airport. read more

It's true, the coffee is overpriced and the food appears to be lacking, but there are bigger issues. I ordered a cup of tea from Harvest and Grounds and set my thermos on the counter to be filled. I was told that this was illegal, that it was a health code violation to fill my cup. While it may be company policy, it isn't illegal. FDA food code section 3-304.17 sets out the guidelines legalizing the personal use cups. It is neither illegal, nor overly bold to ask to use my own mug. But the response of the barista was both rude and indignant insisting that it was illegal (the manager however, was polite). Harvest and Grounds not only disregards environmental responsibility by failing to encourage waste reduction, but damns it vocally and in their company policies. Overall, I'm not sure which is the bigger issues, the that lack of environmental responsibility and the bold lie the barista insisted was true to justify it. read more
