Although I didn't get a chance to try the drinks on this trip (yet!), I did buy a couple of bags of beans, a container of tea, and a journal. They have such a wide variety of beans/leaves. I wish they had more notes on the tasting notes! But they do have a handy graphic there about the roasting spectrum. And each bag is stamped with the roasted date on there. Can't wait to grinds some up at home. They also have plenty of swag there - I didn't expect to find a journal with RoosRoast stamped on there...but I did! Guys you have no idea how disappointed I am. I went here when I went to college at umich and I remember the coffee being TOP NOTCH, like~2019. I know it's been like 6 years but I was so excited to go back. COFFEE NOW TASTES LIKE SEWAGE WATER. I brought all my friends here and nobody liked their drinks. Very bitter, very watery and weak tasting. It's really bad. My friends got iced mochas btw and I got an iced caramel latte. My child wanted an ice coffee after an event, it was very hot outside. We have seen this place often, but never purchased anything before. The people working here were okay, but not overly friendly. My child wanted a coffee with mocha, cream, and sugar. They said they could do that with a cold brew. They handed over just coffee and mocha and did not tell us we needed to add our own creamer or sugar, then seemed surprised when I asked about the creamer and poured a bunch out. I knew they heard my order, because there were two people working and the first one recorded the order on the register. It tasted pretty good, it tasted like a nice dark chocolate, but due to high prices and many choices in the city, I am not sure I would visit again due to customer service alone. read more

RoosRoast continues to be one of my favorite coffee shops in Ann Arbor. My favorite drink here is the long pull of their lobster butter love coffee beans. I usually ask for a splash of whole milk with my drink. Their lobster butter love is currently one of my favorite coffee beans - it is a medium-ish roast with a smooth, buttery finish. At home, I like to use these beans in a pour over. The ambiance is casual and well-suited for quick pick-ups. Will definitely be back! read more

I've heard from family and friends about the quality of the coffee, and one buddy prefers their other location, but upon returning to Ann Arbor for a visit I made a point to come here early on a Sunday morning. The inside was already busy, not full, but jumping. My rating is based solely on the coffee, tried previously from a care package mailed to me (Lobster Butter blend), and the redeye and coffee I purchased on this visit. Two visits, to be exact. Inside it is colorful and inviting. I'd love to try their breakfast menu in the future. The employees were also nice and knowledgeable. Especially when picking a blend to bring home as a gift. One thing I like are the witty descriptions on the coffee bags. They also have an extensive loose tea selection. Overall, the coffee is 4-5 stars, ambience 4 stars, and until I try food or snacks, that rating is reserved. read more

A solid coffee spot in downtown A2! I'm partial to their location further out of town, but this spot is good too. The indoor seating is a little limited but there's ample seating outside. The staff were friendly and helpful as always! The service was very quick. I got a Honey Vanilla latte, suprisingly not my favorite but I do love the ice they use. I've come back to update my review. This is why I do tend to try places more than once before reviewing, but I was too eager. I went back the other day and got the sugar and spice latter and it was great. Tasted almost like a spicy chai. The quality of the coffee was really good and the service was quick, however the cashier was quite rude in the fact that she was barely looking up and dismissive. Would get it again though, but still stand on my point that there is better coffee in Ann Arbor. read more

Ran out of the office with a collegue for a coffee break. We try to pick a new place each outting, once a quarter. Today was RoosRoast. They are located just on Liberty, a block off main street. The store is small and seating is outside. Lots of nice shade or a find a spot in the sun. We ordered a Cortado with oatmilk and honey. It was perfect. I also grabbed a pork burrito and bottle of cold brew from the fridge. The two coffees were $13+ and the burrito and cold brew was $12.50. Their staff was super fast and really nice. I grabbed a to-go condiment cup of their sweet red sauce for the burrito and took it back to my desk after we enjoyed a break at an outside table. Their other menu options looked really appetizing. There is a vegan burrito that I hear is really tasty. Looking forward to my next visit for sure. read more

Whenever we visit a different city, Nate and I always look for fun coffee shops to check out. I particularly enjoy ones that have delicious food items. RoosRoast was super close to our hotel and we ended up stopping there twice while in town for a weekend, we liked it that much. Walking in on our first visit, the most helpful employee ever greeted us and asked if we had any questions about the menu. It's such a small thing, but totally makes a customer experience for me whenever I'm asked this. I ordered my summer go-to, an iced oat latte, and the truckstop breakfast sandwich. If there is a breakfast sandwich on a menu, I'm getting it. Breakfast sandwiches are my love language. Nate asked what a long pour is and said helpful employee explained that it's... um, something about the grind and water amount, I think? Not a coffee aficionado here. Either way, we were both happy with our choices. There were a few open tables outside and no indoor seating at all when we were there, so we enjoyed our tasty breakfast while dog watching on the sidewalk. The sandwich was super hot, made with ham, scrambled egg, kale, potatoes, cheddar cheese, ancho chili sauce, butter, and lime mayo on an English muffin. Holy moly, this was so good. The lime mayo really added a bit of a zesty kick and made it unique. I loved the kale so I could pretend this was a salad (lol). It's a really good thing that I don't live near this place, because how could I not want to get one of these daily? I'd love to try the breakfast burritos too! On our next visit the following day, we ended up buying a couple bags of beans after the same helpful employee (I am totally kicking myself for not getting their name) offered some suggestions. RoosRoast is amazing and their coffee is what got me to enjoy "real" coffee (and become a huge snob). My go-to drink has always been the hot chocolate cold brew before I got really into straight up / black coffee; it's slightly sweet and is not pure cold brew, looks like chocolate milk. My friend and I got the hot chocolate cold brew for the first time in forever today and we both really enjoyed it! It's the perfect drink for a warm Sunday afternoon while walking around downtown. It's also not packed with sugar and is actually very subtle, so you don't have to feel bad about the calories (I think). My favorite part about RoosRoast is the "Lobster Butter Love" beans. I got really into making cold brew last December and I attribute it solely to these beans. I bought these beans so many times because they are AMAZING and they're only $16 for a pound. Nowadays, it's hard to find quality beans for such a low price. Additionally, these beans make GREAT gifts to coffee snob friends in different parts of the country. All of my friends love the Lobster beans and are all hooked. The beans are super savory and smells great like seafood (even though there's no actual seafood in there). Definitely a great medium/dark roast for anytime of the year. Cold brew, pour-over, all of it taste amazing with these beans. read more

I was visiting my brother at U of M and decided to try RoosRoast. I was slightly disappointed because what I saw on Apple Maps made it seem like they had avocado toast on their menu (they did not). I got a sausage breakfast burrito instead. It was a bit small for the price but very tasty. They also had two sauces to choose from (I went with the limey, not spicy one). The iced salted maple latte was amazing. Like other reviews mention, seating is quite limited, but the interior was cute and fun. Staff were friendly as well. I'm a huge fan of RoosRoast beans but I haven't been to one of their cafes in so long. Since I was running errands downtown I popped in on a Saturday morning to grab a coffee and a bite for carryout. Things moved along so quickly to order. The team here is great and very efficient. Super friendly, as well. I grabbed a cold brew coffee and added the cheesy potato burrito. It took all of 5 minutes to get both the drink and my food. They have some seating outside but I had to get back home. I put the precious burrito cargo in my jacket pocket and a few minutes later I was on the couch scarfing it down and sipping my beverage. The burrito was great, chock full of scrambled eggs, hashed brown potatoes, cheese, jalapenos, etc. And the coffee was delicious. We just stocked up on some coffee bags but if we hadn't I would have picked up a bag of one of my favorite beans (their Bad Ass Women blend). Next time! Cute little hipster coffee shop in downtown Ann Arbor. Definitely got my San Fran vibes here. It's loud, but fun. Not your typical cookie cutter type of shop. What I love about coffee shops like this are ceramic mugs and real plates. Every table is unique. On Sunday, it's a no laptop policy so you can enjoy technology free time with your loved ones or catching up on a book. My boyfriend and I got the avocado toast with the simple egg. Super yummy, but has a little kick to it. We paired this with our coconut milk mocha lattes and great conversation. Great place if you're short of time. I really enjoyed their coffee compared to other Ann Arbor Cafe shops. Their mocha latte is really dark chocolatey so it made it that much better. Fair prices too for the size they give you. Oh, and the workers super friendly and helpful. They also have decent seating. I would just say tho the place has a weird smell (old coffee filters or like old wood) ... so I Couldnt really stay there too much. I would just get Togo next time. RoosRoast is probably my favorite coffee shop in Ann Arbor, and maybe in Michigan! After having lived in the Bay Area for years, I'd been looking for a coffee shop that matched the quality, vibe and overall atmosphere of some of my favorites out west without luck. However, after trying RoosRoast and spending an afternoon there, I'd say it's just about as close as you can get in Michigan! There are a good amount of Coffee options, and most people will find something they like here. They definitely have a solid amount of creative offerings, so try a few to see what you like best! On my most recent visit, I had their RoosRoast Cold Brew, and loved it. The quality of the coffee really shines through. RoosRoast also offers food options, which is definitely helpful if you're looking for a bite to eat while getting work done. In addition to the food/drink offerings, I'd say one of the biggest draws of RoosRoast is the atmosphere and environment inside. All the decor along the walls shows you what kind of an establishment it is, and most of the signs/ posters will probably give you a chuckle. You can definitely tell people are getting things done inside the cafe, on my most recent visit, there were people reading, studying, and doing graphic design. In addition to the working spaces, you can certainly still socialize with your friends, it's a chill environment overall. read more

Of the several great coffee shops in Ann Arbor, I'm firmly in camp Roos Roast. Lobster butter love and cold brew are fantastic. The cold brew is fairly strong (pls let me know if there's anywhere else in Ann Arbor with stronger cold brew, ty) and really delicious; please please try it without any milk or sugar! You can get it in a 16 oz cup or bottle, each for $4; they also sell it in larger bottles to take home. The food is decent too. They carry baked goods from Crust in Fenton (the almond croissant is good, the cinnamon bun is popular, the plain croissant is ok, and the pain au chocolat is bad), and they also have a small food menu available until 2 p.m. The burrito ($5, plus $1 for meat) is also pretty good but small. They're premade, so you can't request to omit ingredients like cilantro. The avocado smash ($5) is one of the better ones in the area, although the avocado isn't actually smashed. It's pretty sour/tart from the lime and goat cheese. The multigrain bread (Saskatoon prairie seed from Crust) is really good - seedy and hearty. It's an avocado toast with a lot of character, much like the rest of RR. The shop has such a great unique personality - it's plastered with the most amazing drawings and signs. The space is pretty small and narrow, with limited seating, so it's not the best for studying, though I actually prefer the seating in this location to the original one. There's one bathroom in the back and free wifi. Plenty of places around Ann Arbor sell RR's coffee, but it's really worth visiting the actual location and getting the whole ~deep local~ experience. read more

I stopped by here during a quick trip to Ann Arbor because I heard rumors about how delicious their avocado toast is. It's HEAVENLY! Something with the chili oil... perfectly ripe avocados with a hint of spice and savory herbs. Yummm. I don't remember what the latte tasted like, but I still have vivid dreams about the toast. It was above average compared to other matcha drinks I've had. I also really loved the spicy tuna melt, which saved this review from becoming an average rating. My favorite coffee in A2. The honey vanilla latte is absolutely delicious. I don't enjoy sweet drinks and I can confirm this drink is not a sickly sweet. In fact it tasted more neutral in sweetness than a normal vanilla latte I would get elsewhere. You don't necessarily taste "honey" or "vanilla" but the taste is just wonderful. read more
