I am so happy that I found this little gem! Everything about it is perfect! Food: I had the harvest burger and it was possibly one of the best burgers I have had. The tomatoes were so fresh and super juicy yet not mushy at all. The patty was nice and firm and covered in their super yummy sauce. I am drooling just thinking about the food. Something even more amazing is knowing where this food is coming from and how everything is made. I wish I tried more food there! My friends had the breakfast burger and also loved it. Service: The staff were super friendly and helpful for any suggestions. Space: The space was very beautiful, relaxing, and welcoming. Harvest is a little stand located behind Michell's Farm. There were some picnic tables and yard chairs in a grassy patch to enjoy your food. They also and picnic umbrellas if anyone wants some shade from the sun. Extras: I LOVED their concept of Field to Fork and Fork to Field. Nothing purchased at Harvest Rd. was trash. Everything was compostable and went back to be used on the farm. I especially loved that there was a fee for requesting plastics instead of giving a discount off bringing your own. I think it's amazing because that sets a standard that people should bring their own containers and stuff. Cost: I think the pricing was very reasonable considering everything was produced sustainably. I got a burger and coffee for $16 which I did not think was bad at all! I would 100% recommend this place to everyone! Such a nice place to sit and enjoy some food in the sunshine. It's also on the way if you heading to the ferry terminal so grab some food before or after going on the ferry!

    Good stuff!

What a great setting for lunch. We were wrapping up our trip to Victoria and heading toward the ferry. On the way we stopped at a couple of farms selling peaches, berries (I was learned what a Tayberry was), and corn. Behind Micell's we happened this stand selling great food. My kids loved the burgers.

Central Sandwich (Honey ham with cheese and fresh strawberry jam). So delicious!

I've never had one so amazingly light, soft and perfectly just-sweet-enough. Wonder if they will ship them...? We stopped by Leaven for breakfast one morning on our trip getting a savory crêpe each and a couple pastries. Didn't even make it though breakfast before we knew we had to do a repeat the very next day because it was so good. Crepes are French style and are clearly made with skill and talent. The space is bright and cheery with very friendly staff. I see other reviews mentioning waits during busy times or complaints but experienced nothing of the sort. We were a bit off peak and didn't have that issue but I can honestly say I'd be HAPPY to wait for the food at Leaven. This is really something special and whoever is behind it has a gift.

Our photographer suggested Leaven as a place we could take photos at since we love going to cafes together. We ordered a Cauliflower Crepe, Cauliflower Danish, and Matcha Latte. The crepe was delicious! I love have a savory crepe once in a while, and this crepe had the perfect amount of creaminess from the cheese, crunchiness from the cauliflower and onions, and freshness from the arugula. The same could be said about the danish. They had great components of a creperie/cafe. The Matcha Latte though, was not up to par. It seems it wasn't whisked well, so it tasted grainy. Overall, not taking a point off for it because what they specialize in was so great! Besides the food, the space was pretty lively. During our photoshoot, there was live music and every table was taken up. Leaven seems like a great space for a hangout or catch up with someone. Honestly, If I lived in the area, I would always be down for their crepes.

From start to finish, everything was beautifully prepared and wonderfully served. We began with the truffle gougere -essentially delightful little cream puffs filled with melted parmesan that were absolutely to die for. Each bite was rich and delicious. Next up was the bread served with onion butter, which had a fantastic flavor profile. My only tiny wish was that the bread had been toasted just a bit to help that lovely butter melt right in. For the main course, we shared a mushroom pie that was beautifully presented and had that comforting, home-cooked feel. The standout dish of the night, though, was the rock fish. The fish was tender, flaky, and paired with pillowy soft gnocchi that was just perfect in texture. We ended the meal with a dark chocolate namelaka (a type of soft biscuit) and a sticky toffee pudding, both beautifully presented. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, though I personally would have loved just a bit more of that rich sauce to soak up the entire cake, Overall, the service was wonderful, and the meal was impeccable. The area is truly lucky to have such a fine dining gem, and I can't wait to go back again!

Every baked good was perfectly semetrical and there were regulars, bicyclists, and families. The only thing missing was the cool color tones of a Wes Anderson movie to capture mood and dialogue. I tried two of the breakfast sandwiches: beef and an egg and sausage. Both were delicious. I also tried their galette with mushroom and cheddar. It was a nice savory bite of crunch from the pastry dough , and texture of the mushrooms and spices. My belly was full for the direction of my 3 hours on the island. Service was very good also.

To be honest, I completely understand why. This cafe is a step above the rest. The inside is cozy, with a cabin-esque vibe and clear ceilings in their dining room for an indoor-outdoor feel. Despite the line of 20+ people, Shirley Delicious worked like a well oiled machine. Their menu included breakfast, lunch, and even a flight of soup (which I so desperately wanted). I ordered their date pastry, a hot caramel latte, and breakfast sandwich with avo. Each item was absolutely delicious. This is also a great location to shop for island goodies. Their storefront is filled with jams, sauces, metal working artwork, etc. Can't believe they can pack so much goodness into four little walls!

You order and pay first, then find a seat inside or outside. Ample seating options. For drinks, they'll call your name and you pick it up at the counter, while they will bring you your entrée. We came for breakfast, so I had a croissant BLT Harvati sandwich and a latte. My friend had a vegan wrap and a latte as well. The whole indoor feels like a greenhouse once before and transformed to indoor cafe. There are tons of metal welding artwork around and many little retail shopping corners inside. My croissant did not let me know, it was so delicious! They also have a small coffee/ice cream/grab-n-go trailer outside. Overall it's a nice place for breakfast or lunch! We tried coming back again, but the power went out so we weren't able to order anything AND have cash. Guess I'll have to come back to visit!
