Everyone has told us to Stop at Shirley Delicious and it did not disappoint. It's a great woodsy, artsy place to stop for food. The line can be long so be prepared. There is a QR code if you want to peruse the menu while waiting. We ordered two sandwiches and two soup & sandwiches. Unfortunately, one of the orders was incorrect but they were quick to remake the sandwich. All the food was great. We also grabbed. GF chocolate mint matcha treat that was awesome. Easily one of the most popular spots on Vancouver Island. The sun peaked out in January and everyone and their mom visited Shirley Delicious Cafe. To be honest, I completely understand why. This cafe is a step above the rest. The inside is cozy, with a cabin-esque vibe and clear ceilings in their dining room for an indoor-outdoor feel. Despite the line of 20+ people, Shirley Delicious worked like a well oiled machine. Their menu included breakfast, lunch, and even a flight of soup (which I so desperately wanted). I ordered their date pastry, a hot caramel latte, and breakfast sandwich with avo. Each item was absolutely delicious. This is also a great location to shop for island goodies. This was truly an amazing find! Tucked in the forest, this cafe is definitely delicious! Definitely get here early as there could be a line out the door! We lucked out, thankfully. You order and pay first, then find a seat inside or outside. Ample seating options. For drinks, they'll call your name and you pick it up at the counter, while they will bring you your entrée. We came for breakfast, so I had a croissant BLT Harvati sandwich and a latte. My friend had a vegan wrap and a latte as well. The whole indoor feels like a greenhouse once before and transformed to indoor cafe. There are tons of metal welding artwork around and many little retail shopping corners inside. My croissant did not let me know, it was so delicious! They also have a small coffee/ice cream/grab-n-go trailer outside. Overall it's a nice place for breakfast or lunch! We tried coming back again, but the power went out so we weren't able to order anything AND have cash. Guess I'll have to come back to visit! read more

Four of us came for lunch to this highly recommended eclectic cafe. I ordered the BLT Croissant and a bowl of Corn Chowder. Ended up being far more food than I thought. Everything was excellent. One thing I didn't like is that you pay for your food at the counter then find a seat. I do not like having a tip feature before you know what the service is like. A nice place to come to. read more

Heard fantastic things about this place so thought we should try it out. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and soup. When the food arrived the sandwiches were small, not plentiful as many have commented. The ham was one, maybe 1.5, thin slices that barely covered the bread, which was the thinnest slice of focaccia bread I have ever seen. Pineapple, a very thin slice too. The soup was cool and very salty. We left there still hungry. All this cost over $40. Maybe we caught the staff on an off day but I will never go there again. That said, Shirley Delicious more than earns the full five stars where it truly matters -- the food, the vibe, and the people. Every dish I've tried has been fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The baked goods are next level (skip the cinnamon twist so there are some left when I get there), and the coffee is consistently excellent. This place was out of this world although there was a decent line on weekends. We went on a Sunday. But their breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, dill soup, BLT sandwich and corn fritters along with their homemade pastries were to die for. There was merchandise to purchase, artwork and jewelry also. We ordered an Oat Nog Latte and it was the bomb. Their coffee is delicious. This place is on the top of my list. Very popular small rustic place out to the west of Victoria serves great sandwiches and pies. Limited hours don't stop folks from coming out and waiting in a substantial line at times. The service team is very positive and grateful for all customers and their patience. The lines move quickly. Loved everything we tried but other than sweets, options for our kids were a bit limited. I ordered the broccoli soup, and it was a fail for my son. My friends order the minestrone soup and the chili but neither were hits either. Although this is the go-to place on the drive between Sooke and Port Renfrew, and it has plenty of charm, we were not that impressed with the food. The tea was good, the ambiance charming. That didn't make up for scones that were edible but heavy (not wonderful as some have said). So as a bakery, they get middling marks. On another visit we had a proper sit-down breakfast, including veggie hash, corn fritters, cappuccino, etc. and sadly, we were again underwhelmed. I guess it's not fair to have high expectations when you're a good ways from a population center -- but they get enough traffic from sophisticated Victoria that I expected better. Convenient place to stop for a bite to eat while traveling the "loop." Good food, but get there early if you want one of their salads. They ran out the day we were there. I had a sandwich, don't remember the name, but it was great. Nice outdoor atmosphere to eat. It can get busy at times. A few tshirts and things for sale, as well as artwork and cool metal sculptures. The food here truly blew me off my feet. The focaccia was extremely soft and baked very well. The soups were very aromatic and the place was surroundings felt very peaceful. The burrito was done very well; the tortilla was crispy. Only reason why I wouldn't give this place 5 stars because the food took a bit long (~25 min) to arrive. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this place after a long hike! read more

Funky, tasty, quirky, cozy - those are just a few words that describe one of the neatest little eating places we've ever enjoyed! We were on our way for some coastal hiking, but decided to stop for a coffee and sweetie. We found a gem! And we decided to have lunch because it was raining and close to lunch anyway. Since we had a light breakfast, my wife and I decided on the Breakkie Bun. It took a little while, but we had plenty to do as we looked around the eclectic decorations and metalwork pieces hanging on the walls. When our sandwiches arrived, we dove in because they were so great-looking! And they tasted fresh and hot, which is what we needed to endure the upcoming hike. So sorry, no pictures of the food - it didn't last! We saw others getting sandwiches and pastries, all of which was made on premises and looked equally good, and more that enough for one person! On our way out, the muffins called us, so we got some of those. They didn't last the hike! We would've gotten more sweeties, but the hostess told us they're normally sold out by noon! Really wanted to dig this place. Vibe is cool and I love the small shop with local wares and artwork. Went on a Wednesday in May for lunch and had a turkey + capicola + havarti + spicy mustard + lettuce sandwich. Focaccia was hot and crispy, but meat and cheese were ice cold. Bread was freshly baked but not tasty. Also took over 20minutes to receive my sandwich. It's the only place around, so if you need food, it's your only option. If you can make it without stopping, don't stop. read more

Atmosphere was hip and comfortable. Great art, local touches. We had a cinnamon roll- which I took to go and ate before the lunch arrived it was to die for I could wait to eat it. Yam and kale soup was fantastic. I was this recipe!! Tomatillo corn soup was this magical marriage or sweet corn and spicy pepper with lemony yum! I don't even know how to describe the taste- it was the best soups we have ever had ever ever. Also had the veggie sandwich- again just smashing. Latte was so good. I'd give this place a 13 star. The place is tiny and the single washroom made for a rather long line up but the service left you feeling like every single one of the employees was an owner. It was a Westjet experience! After a long day of exploring beaches and hiking on trails we were hungry and tired. My fellow Yelpers were spot on with their reviews of Shirley's. It was the day before Christmas and the place was full of music, smiling customers and delectable treats! What an amazing use of space. Tables run around the corner and then out the back door. I can imagine how this place must be during the warmer months! We had the soup and sandwich combo on focaccia bread. The turkey and cranberry was the perfect combo for the holiday season. The cream of mushroom soup was warm and full of spices. Delicious to the last bite, we were happily full. We had no choice but to get a couple of scumptious muffins and cider to go. In the little town of Shirley sits a breakfast with heart and soul. From the moment you walk in the spirit of delight and welcome meet you. There is a sign that really says it the best, "Food served here is... Made with Love " Sheena and Phillip are the proprietors and have created good Karma food. Phillip acts as the songster/barista/chief problem solver is wonderful as he interacts with customers and croons to the tunes on the stereo. Super friendly and authentic. Now for the food. Seriously FIVE. Yes, count them, ***** Stars! We had the Breakfast Burrito and the Breakkie Bun. Both are total yum! Thank you Sheena, I understand we have you to thank for the recipes. Delish! Christine, who popped out the the seating area was lovely and gave us our beach play list for the day. We will be visiting Sombro, Sandcut, and China Beaches. I read a local review about this place that just raved on and on about how good it was. Well, that was exactly right. We just happened to come through the area on the same Sunday they were holding a local festival in the park next to the restaurant. We got lucky and pulled into a parking spot right in front of the place. We only had to wait about 10 minutes to order, which taunts you into looking at all of the incredible sweets in the pastry case. ALl of that taunting paid off, as we picked up two of the fruit/chocolate bars that we savored over the next couple of days. For me, I picked the Conversano sandwich. It sat on freshly made focaccia that was light as a feather. It included roasted eggplant, leeks, capsicum, zucchini, brie cheese, herb mayo, avocado spread, and fresh greens. That was one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I've ever had. If you are going through this area, be sure to check and make sure your timing works out for you to stop and eat here! read more
