First off, the doctor's services are professional, but customer service was substandard. When I first arrived, the woman at the front desk mentioned that there "might" be a fee for my contact lens fitting. I didn't think much of it at the time. I should've asked how much, because it turned out to be much more than expected. Ok, fine. But what bothered me was that I didn't find out until it was time to settle the bill. It felt like an ambush. The other humourless woman that helped me select my lenses seemed annoyed at my insurance coverage questions, and I couldn't get a straight answer about the total out-of-pocket expense, including the fee that was dumped on me. Everything was an evasive reply, or a "gotcha" answer. The visit ended costing way more than I had planned. The thing about cash grabs, is that they only work once. So forget about repeat customers. Lesson learned.

Dr. Pam is wonderful and I've been seeing her for eye exams for at least 15 years. However, the other people who work here, need a bit more training and professionalism. I once called asking if they could convert my contacts prescription into a glasses prescription, and the man was so confused. I can't imagine I was the only one who's ever made this request. All he needed to do was forward my request to Dr. Pam. He was saying I had to talk to the doctor at a specific time, and all this other nonsense that didn't make a lot of sense. Eventually I got my prescription, but it was much more effort then it should be. This LensCrafters location is a bit of a weird location at Macy's, amongst the purses and accessories, but I suppose it really doesn't matter.

Well, that was the 1st I have heard that I had cataracts, and I told her there was no way in the world she was going to operate on my eyes. She said that she may not allow me to drive. Now, I can decide if I'm safe to drive or not. I asked her if she was legally required to report it to the DMV and she said no, but sometimes she does - well, first, that's illegal. That is against HIPPA. Second, I am NOT going to let anyone bully me into something I am not comfortable with - especially with SOMEONE I'm not comfortable with. For that, alone, I will never go back to them. Also, though, the visit before that, I think I got the wrong script for my glasses because the glasses I had were not good, and she said my eyes got better - I know for a fact that was not true. I still haven't gotten my new prescription...

The only time I felt the doctor was giving an in-depth look at what was going on with my eyes. They offer you two additional exams that insurance does not pay for, but they are not expensive and worth it for the amount of detail analysis/images they are able to get on your eyes. I hate shopping and shopping for glasses is not remotely on my list of "favorite things" to do; however, she was very helpful and narrowed the type of styles I liked so I could pick what worked best for me. Just got my glasses today - in only about a week, and just in time for a long trip. Thank you.

I drove to Primary Eye Care Center in Bloomfield because they are much closer then my usual optometrist's office. It was very busy when I arrived. I was okay with the wait because I had no appointment, nor had I ever been here before. I waited around an hour, when the very nice lady named Denise said she was ready for me. I handed her my lens and my frame, she took them to her station, in around five minutes the job was done. My glasses were also sparkling clean! Denise didn't charge me a penny for her work. I asked about trying contact lenses again after an irritating experience I had with contacts thirty years ago. She listened and provided insightful guidance.
