Wow, what a disappointment....after speaking in person with the proprietors, as well as seeing the…read morebrochure. The property is up for sale (by unit), including the one we resided in for 8 days. It is listed as a 3 bedroom (don't know where they put the 3rd one). The floors were so slanted "all over the cabin" that the beds had to be leveled with blocks, not to mention the mattresses had either stain or mold at their bottom ends. The shower area was obviously molding under the tiles, which were "squishy" and dark stained....leaking under the sink. The daily shower mat was used to keep the water from moving outside the shower area.
The kitchen, which had been described as "fully stocked" (we had our family of 6) had salt and pepper, one large plate, 3 small bowls, 3 small coffee cups, one large plastic popcorn bowl, 3 small skillets, two sauce pans, 8 forks, 2 serving spoons, no regular spoons and 8 very dull long knives. We used our pocket knife to cut our meat and vegies for cooking, borrowed a large skillet to serve our 6, purchased paper plates, paper towels, coffee filters, plastic spoons, aluminum pans, hand towels, trash bags (since we were allowed only 2 for the 8 days).
The sleeping/dressing quarters were quite without any amenities. We lived out of our suitcases for the entire 8 days. Although there would have been room in the corners for at least a clothing rack nailed to the wall, there was no way to unpack anything, We borrowed additional bedding (blankets and pillows that weren't petrified), as the night temp drops pretty low. Yeah....sounds like I wanted a castle fully furnished....but I am not that particular when it comes to roughing it.
The living room was the same disaster....at first glance, this place having an upholster shop on site, had a piece of couch that should have been sent to the dump years ago. It was literally falling apart with "stuffing" squeaking out of every crease and crevice...I was fearful of setting on it for fear of whatever would come crawling out. Simple things such as using a trash back tie to hold a curtain in place is a bit ridiculous....not to mention 4 plugs in one receptacle, and no battery in the ancient smoke detector hanging from the ceiling.
There were so many problems with this place, the state inspector would have closed it down. I regret we had already paid the price and had no other place to go for our vacation. The only positive thing I can say it that the youngsters of our family could step onto the boat dock and swim...probably the safest place to be, as well as eating outdoors on the picnic table. I fear this place has not been maintained or updated since 1940 or farther back and the literature is more than deceiving when you are 1,000 miles away and no means of checking it out first.
Sorry....not a good review...will NOT be back or recommend to anyone.
P.S. We did not leave Tip money for "Lucy" in the envelope for the cleaning lady...although at least she attempts to make the disaster better.
