We left a day early, none too soon. Carl the owner offered to "make it right with me" if I privately let him know of my issues. I chose to forego what sounded like some unspecified refund and voice my honest opinion of his Moose landing cabin. I wont get into specifics here as I would get writers cramp listing all of them. I will just tell you that in my opinion, if you go there, you will be grossly disappointed. UGH!!

Our cabin was well appointed with fresh linens, cooking utensils, grill, and kayaks. There was also a canoe. The restaurants were 10 minutes away. I couldn't resist taking photos all day, from the early morning mist on the pond to the spectacular multicolored sunset. We found great pleasure in the wildlife there. We saw a cow moose and her twins; a pair of Great Blue Herons, a pair of Loons, turtles, a family of quail, and a turkey. Wow! But, we didn't hear any traffic. We were relaxed and the cottage was immaculate. I can't wait to go back to this slice of Paradise.

If you are looking for a real Vermont experience, The Moose Meadow Lodge is a great start to the journey. This beautiful home with cabin vibes has brilliant decor and character throughout the property. The amenities are far beyond what you'll find listed, thanks to the selfless owners, Greg and Willie. At the very least, you'll have a very comfortable stay. Greg and Willie will go above and beyond to make sure your overall visit to Vermont is worthwhile. We decided to travel to Vermont last minute for New Year's Eve. We booked the Moose Meadow Lodge on the drive up. We were welcomed with open arms. Greg showed us around the property, the lobby shop, brought us to our room and explained all the unique and exciting details of the house and property. We woke up each morning to a beautifully prepared breakfast. Since our trip was so last minute, we didn't have much of a plan. Greg was kind enough to sit down with us and help us map out our entire journey. He even helped us map an alternate route home that was more scenic. We didn't get to everything on the list, but everything he mentioned was perfect. You can tell he has a genuine love and passion for what he does. His advice and planning alone made the experience excellent. I can go on and on about the perfect stay we had. You can tell Greg and Willie are very passionate about what they do. You will never experience this kind of attention and care at a hotel. We are already planning our next stay here.

Wow, what a disappointment....after speaking in person with the proprietors, as well as seeing the…read morebrochure. The property is up for sale (by unit), including the one we resided in for 8 days. It is listed as a 3 bedroom (don't know where they put the 3rd one). The floors were so slanted "all over the cabin" that the beds had to be leveled with blocks, not to mention the mattresses had either stain or mold at their bottom ends. The shower area was obviously molding under the tiles, which were "squishy" and dark stained....leaking under the sink. The daily shower mat was used to keep the water from moving outside the shower area. The kitchen, which had been described as "fully stocked" (we had our family of 6) had salt and pepper, one large plate, 3 small bowls, 3 small coffee cups, one large plastic popcorn bowl, 3 small skillets, two sauce pans, 8 forks, 2 serving spoons, no regular spoons and 8 very dull long knives. We used our pocket knife to cut our meat and vegies for cooking, borrowed a large skillet to serve our 6, purchased paper plates, paper towels, coffee filters, plastic spoons, aluminum pans, hand towels, trash bags (since we were allowed only 2 for the 8 days). The sleeping/dressing quarters were quite without any amenities. We lived out of our suitcases for the entire 8 days. Although there would have been room in the corners for at least a clothing rack nailed to the wall, there was no way to unpack anything, We borrowed additional bedding (blankets and pillows that weren't petrified), as the night temp drops pretty low. Yeah....sounds like I wanted a castle fully furnished....but I am not that particular when it comes to roughing it. The living room was the same disaster....at first glance, this place having an upholster shop on site, had a piece of couch that should have been sent to the dump years ago. It was literally falling apart with "stuffing" squeaking out of every crease and crevice...I was fearful of setting on it for fear of whatever would come crawling out. Simple things such as using a trash back tie to hold a curtain in place is a bit ridiculous....not to mention 4 plugs in one receptacle, and no battery in the ancient smoke detector hanging from the ceiling. There were so many problems with this place, the state inspector would have closed it down. I regret we had already paid the price and had no other place to go for our vacation. The only positive thing I can say it that the youngsters of our family could step onto the boat dock and swim...probably the safest place to be, as well as eating outdoors on the picnic table. I fear this place has not been maintained or updated since 1940 or farther back and the literature is more than deceiving when you are 1,000 miles away and no means of checking it out first. Sorry....not a good review...will NOT be back or recommend to anyone. P.S. We did not leave Tip money for "Lucy" in the envelope for the cleaning lady...although at least she attempts to make the disaster better.

He was well aware we came to Joe's pond for a week of fishing, however when we arrived the story was much different. We attempted to get live bait from Joe the owner who eventually told us they did not sell live bait in the summer, he explained they only had live bait during the winter months for ice fishing. Despite our instant doubts we went to our cabin to unload our things. Right away were were shocked at the size of the cottage. The smell was moldy and old and it had absolutely no up keep. The refrigerator was mini fridge that fit barely our food we had prepared for the week. We were met with an envelope with an envelope from "Lucy" requested/anticipating us to tip her for no services even provided yet. The bed is shockingly small, my husband is 5'7'' and his feet hung off the edges. We had only cold shower water but hot water for washing dishes. The cottages was unstable and shook when you walked across the room. There was a young man who worked at Dane's Upholstery who offered my husband a row boat for free for the week. We decided to row out on the pond to try and catch and fish. We were met by some very nice locals who lived on the pond and let us know that in the evening all we could find was tiny 5 inch perch and that was it. He explained there were no bass, blue gill or trout. One gentlemen was so honest that he told he if we really wanted fish we were going to have to go shopping for it at the store. He told us the pond was fished out for several years. We did find 6 four to five inch perch, which were all throw backs. We spent one night and packed our car the next day.We returned the key to the Gentleman from Dane's who didn't even care to apologize for the false advertisement. He did not care that he took our money and gave us nothing. I will honestly tell you to go to Joe's pond to ride boats or enjoy water sports. There is nothing else there. I also suggest you sleep in your car. It will be cleaner and safer. Cottage 11 was terrible! Be aware they are trying to sell the cottage. It needs to be either torn down or gutted. Also there are only 2 lights in the whole cottage that gave you approximately 60 watts from both. It was impossible to see at night in the cottage. Also the temp of the room dropped significantly at night making it impossible to sleep comfortably. Comfort point cottages offers NO comfort. Please look elsewhere.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!: They now have fantastic Wi-Fi! Woohoo!…read more I am still smitten with this place. It's been 7 years since my first visit and am over the moon about the fact that I get to spend my big 4-0 birthday here. I had the opportunity to pick a vacation anywhere I wanted. I chose Robert Frost Cabins over taking a cruise in the Caribbean in January. THAT'S how much I love it! We picked cabin 6 (Evening Star), which is one of their newer cabins and I'm still here as I write this updated review from their famous "reading nook," overlooking the woods. Everything is exactly as I remember and I honestly felt like I was coming back home. So comfy and cozy! The biggest change that was made is the fact that they now have business class Wi-Fi service, which is huge since my fiancé and best friend are "working from home" during our visit. They have experienced zero interruptions while conducting meetings over Zoom. For us, this is HUGE and will most likely mean we can visit more often since we can stay in contact with the outside world. This also means that they have Netflix now, which is pretty sweet. Pro tip: head to Middlebury and do some grocery shopping as these cabins have literally everything you need to make home cooked meals. We did about $500 worth of groceries (don't shop on an empty stomach, lol) and don't plan on leaving our cabin much. Since they have a full sized fridge, stove, all the pots, pans, utensils, etc., you can rest assured that you'll have it all and won't need to bring anything from home (although we did choose to bring our crockpot). I honestly cannot say enough about this place. You will absolutely love it here if you're looking to leave the stresses of normal life for a bit and just relax. Thank you to Marty and Carol for, once again, allowing us to make more beautiful memories. Years later and we are here with our daughter who wasn't even born when we first discovered Robert Frost Cabins. Now she gets to enjoy Vermont and this magical place with us!
