Mulburn Inn Review September 25, 2026 * We have stayed at…read moremany Inns and B&Bs over the years in several countries; The Mulburn Inn is the absolute best of all of them. Why? For all the reasons you see on the website: the impeccable cleanliness, comfort and loveliness of the guest rooms, the elegance and style of the house and its history; the dedication to the comfort and pleasure of the guests, the homemade breakfasts, the location, the relaxed but elegant and welcoming vibe. But most of all, for us, what distinguishes The Mulburn Inn are the hosts, Dave and Karen. Dave had me at "Hello." I called to say we would be late, and he was simply wonderful; we were headed to theater up the road apiece and Dave was relaxed and kind and completely accommodating. Later we discovered Karen and Dave have set up their screened-in porch for their guests, with clean-burning propane fire tables filled with amber fire glass. Despite the chilly North Country climes, we were wonderfully warm. But if we needed more, they also had outdoor heat lamps, enabling us to spend hours hanging outside. It is bliss. Best of all? Dave and Karen hung out on the porch with us. I have never laughed so hard as I did at Dave's expert, hilarious storytelling. (Karen is the perfect foil, filling in the blanks with actual facts when needed.) And if you are really lucky, you will catch a glimpse of their two elderly Dachshunds who are the sweetest. Plus, if you are curious about the fascinating, star-studded history of The Mulburn Inn (formerly The Ivie Estate), just ask, and Dave will regale you with the best stories of its history! Karen's décor with the perfect style of country and cool top off the experience, as do the snacks they put out for night owls like my husband and me. There's much more to tell, but I'm trying to keep this shorter than novel length. We loved it so much, we made reservations to return 8 weeks later! And we hope to go back many more times, as Dave and Karen make the Mulburn Inn irresistible on every level. You're welcome!

They…read moreeven make it possible to "adopt" one of the uber soft and furry little rabbits for a "mere" $45.00. Just a tad rich for my blood, plus I couldn't buy for one grandchild and not the other, so I purchased none. But I digress. The inn is old, very old in fact, but it is well appointed, and the rooms have been upgraded as much as possible. They are very small, but very clean and tastefully decorated with bunnies and all. The bed was super comfortable with great pillows. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We pretty much stayed to ourselves, but there were a number of common areas where we could've fraternized with the guests, played board games, read. The outdoor grounds were quite lovely, and in addition to a patio to sit on, there was a large grassy area to walk around, and I believe one could play croquet too... not positive about that part, though. There were no TV's in the rooms purposely, and I'm not sure there were any in the common areas either. I doubt we would've liked that if we had stayed longer than one night... but for one night, we survived. Funny and ironic how dependent we (and most people) are on being entertained by TV's. My only disappointment was, and I knew ahead of time, is that we were staying there on a night their main dining room was NOT open, so we didn't get to dine there. It probably would've been much better than where we did eat, and we would've had the convenience of being right there... but alas, it was not meant to be this time. Their pub was open, but the menu was quite minimal and not anything we were interested in. If ever we should pass through this part of Vermont in the future, I would love the opportunity to stay here again.

Being that this is a perfect place for a very secluded getaway, he gives you your space when you need it. However he and his wife are attentive to detail and readily available when asked upon. The location itself is stunning and the cabin was warm and cozy despite some frigid temperatures. If you plan on cooking keep in mind that there is only a mini fridge and microwave. So you will need to use the grill which does have a burner. But we loved this and grilled every night! We would highly recommend this to a couple just looking for a romantic getaway. Can't wait to go back ourselves!

I'm writing this review from my bed early before a day of biking with my son at KFL. What can I say…read more- this place is great. And we found it by accident! My wife found it online the day before we came up on a busy June weekend. The quick rundown is there's a big converted barn where we stayed. The rooms are clean, rustic and charming. The barn lodge was quiet each night while it was clearly a busy weekend. There's also camping allowed on the site, but the vibe is mature and family friendly. Everyone we met was kind and polite to me and my 9 y/o son. There is a separate shared bathroom and shower facility about 30 feet from the barn. While this may not be everyone's thing, the indoor and outdoor showers are all clean, strong and felt wonderful after a day out on the trails. There is a large shared common area with a tv and nice space to read, which doubles as bike storage if you're rolling around on a $10,000 sled. There's also a shared fridge and coffee there in the am. If you're coming up to bike the KTA trails or just enjoy the beauty of the region I can't recommend the farm enough. It may be my regular place to stay for future weekend trips.

It is absolutely unique with wonderful 19th century buildings in perfect condition, the animal sanctuary, and incredible views of the mountains on all sides. Our son's wedding was outside with a view of the Lake Willoughby Gap. Spectacular setting as you walk through flower covered fields to the wedding site. The staff is well-organized and very friendly. By the end of your stay, they seem like family. The guests, who attended from all over the U.S., absolutely loved it. If you are considering a wedding venue or a place to stay in the Northeast Kingdom for a few days, look at Inn at Mountain View Farm. You will be glad that you did.
