Tip: The sirloin and lobster tail meal for $25 is a great deal. After completing a bunch of errands on Saturday, I was ready for lunch. I was in the eastern end of Scarborough, close to Pickering. I first thought of having breakfast for lunch. I would only have 45 minutes to enjoy my food at the nearest breakfast joint. I felt like a steak. I did a search for Chuck's Roadhouse and this one in Pickering was close by. I drove over there, which took roughly nine minutes. It's located in a small plaza. I managed to find a parking spot fairly close to the entrance. I backed my car into the spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a friendly woman. She asked me whether I wanted to sit at the bar or the dining area. I went with the latter. I got a menu. I visit Chuck's regularly that I have my usual order. I got the following items: - Diet Coke - Sirloin and lobster tail meal with mashed potatoes and gravy I upgraded my fries. I got mashed potatoes with gravy instead. I asked for a medium doneness for my steak. I placed my order with Domnica, who was extremely attentive and friendly. I needed to use the washroom. I headed over there, dodging two male servers who were kind to get out of the way. My bladder needed attention after three hours of hydration. The women's washroom was clean. There were three stalls. The one that I used was clean. The lock didn't lock properly, but it was good enough to not let anyone in. I got back to my booth and my Diet Coke was on the table. It was cold, fizzy, and delicious. I ended up having a couple of refills during my time here. It was great that I had a huge screen with four different sports happening. I saw the Colorado Avalanche crush the Detroit Red Wings. The Winnipeg Jets pre-game show was on after a women's tennis match. I watched women's curling from Mississauga. There was Formula 1 racing that I had to ignore because any sport on an ice surface interests me a lot more these days. My server put bottles of Chuck's steak sauce and Heinz ketchup on my table. I didn't use any of them, but was glad that I had options. It didn't take long for my meal to arrive. It looked so good. I was so hungry that I went into devour mode. My steak was excellent. It was seasoned nicely and cooked as I liked it to be. So good! The lobster tail was succulent. The clarified butter was excellent with the lobster tail morsels. Frankly, I ended up dunking everything into the butter. My mashed potatoes were so comforting. I usually pour the gravy over the mashed potatoes. I did the reverse. It was enjoyable dunking mashed potatoes into the flavourful gravy. I also dunked sirloin cubs into the gravy. Yum! The corn was yummy. I'm so glad that it's no longer corn on the cob. It's so much easier shovelling kernels of yumminess into my mouth. My server asked if I wanted anything else. I was stuffed. I got the bill. I paid with a credit card. I held my phone to the payment machine after specifying a tip. Done! I stayed a bit longer to finish my Diet Coke while watching the Jets pre-game show. I then used the washroom before heading out. The scary part was walking into the washroom with three loud women speaking Vietnamese to one another. The oldest woman did not lock her stall properly, so I saw more than I had wanted. What I don't get is that these two woman walked the third woman over to the washroom. They stood in front of the sink. Shouldn't they have noticed that the door was wide open? They were loud talking to one another after this incident. Personally, I would have been mortified if someone had seen me partially naked in a public washroom. I came out of the stall to wash my hands. The two women were staring at me. I stared right back with my you-didn't-help-your-friend-and-I-need-therapy-now stare. They stopped looking at me. So weird. Chuck's Roadhouse has been one of my family's favourite places for affordable AAA steaks, starting as low as $15. On this visit, my aunt and uncle both ordered the Top Sirloin & Lobster Tail ($25) and I had the Porterhouse ($29.99). The steak and lobster meals were good and they both enjoyed it but the kitchen missed the request for sweet potato fries on one order. My steak looked great but was cooked much closer to well done than my preferred medium rare. It was tough so I had to have it re-fired. The second one, unfortunately, was closer to blue, with the center being very rare. I ate most of it, not wanting to wait for any longer. Our server was really good, friendly and courteous. Overcooked burgers. Either re-train your cooks or hire new ones. These dried-out burgers just don't cut it. Fries, sweet fries, nachos and other sides were good. Went to the bar to have a drink with the wife for her birthday. We were told no\nAnd had to wait to be seated before we could have a drink. We were seated ten after the manager came to take a drink order at 620. Where then we were told , we were not allowed to order any more drinks for another twenty minutes. We had designated drivers and planned to enjoy ourselves. But enjoyment was far from what was going to happen. Long story , short management and servers argued with us , every step of the way. It's like inflation didn't even hit us at Chuck's Roadhouse. I could get a lobster tail and steak for only $25. It's delicious, especially that lobster tail with butter is just yum. A great value meal. The only reason it's not a complete 5-star is that the server messed up one of my friend's orders, and he had to wait until almost everyone was almost done to get his chicken and ribs. In the end, he got a coupon for $5 that's only valid for the Pickering location. We also ordered their Caesar salad, which was noted on their menu as what they are famous for and also a tempura shrimp to share. Thumbs up on my end. I noticed my friends who have been before would order their steak one notch rarer just in case they overcooked. I just stuck to my medium rare. From looking at everyone's steak platter, they got the cook right this time (no need to ask for rarer). We were returning from a ski trip, and a friend told me it was her tradition to head to Chuck's later. A few of these franchises were on our way home. Each Chuck's location was so packed that we had to hop to the next. This is my first exposure to this chain. They have several locations outside the city. But I'm impressed with the value and would gladly dine again. A lively atmosphere and is packed on a weekend evening that we were there. My friend mentioned it wasn't busy the other weekend she went so it might be luck. They did not take any dial-in reservations. The portions were generous for the price you are paying. The fries were well dressed, would have like real bacon pieces instead of bacon bits but overall great app! The wings were kind of small and medium sauce lacked the kick. They were crispy even and cooked just right. The buffalo chicken quesadilla was surprisingly good. Lots of breaded chicken tomato and cheese. This is not your authentic Mexican quesadilla but for bar food very acceptable and great finger food. Overall great experience here. Great value especially after 9pm if you're looking for some late night snacks and a beer. Our bill came up to $36 before tip. This includes a 3% honest surcharge for the food you order. Our second time at Chuck's roadhouse but first time at this location. Pricing is very good and reasonable for the portion. It's definitely a lot less than what's being charged elsewhere such as moxies however do expect the food to take a longer time to come. The restaurant is pretty busy, we came on a Saturday around 5:30. Luckily we didn't have to wait long to get a table I guess it was because we were kinda early. We ordered two kids meal, a pasta and a burger it took about 45-50 mins before our food came. The wait time for the food was a bit ridiculous. So if you do have younger kids that can be a bit of an issue - just make sure you have something to keep them entertained while waiting. Overall, the food was great except for the butter parm pasta for the kid's meal which had no veggies or meat included just pasta - I didn't realize when placing the order so it was a bit disappointing and we won't be ordering that next time. We love to go Chuck's on Kingston Rd for half-priced apps after 9pm. So worth it! Usually there's a line up but you leave your phone number and the wait is usually less than 30 mins. We went on a busy Friday. Our server was nice and checked in during the whole meal to see if we needed anything. We ordered wings, spinach dip, steak bites and tempura shrimp. This is a great spot for cheap eats after 9PM! Their apps become half-priced at that time which makes for a great deal. The food is good and the service is quick and friendly. They add a tiny fee to each bill which they say goes towards keeping their prices low - which I am totally okay with because when you look at their menu, the prices are actually pretty low. Chuck's Roadhouse is a solid bar and pub where you get what you pay for. My friend suggested Chuck's for their affordable excellent deals on steak platters. It is a solid selection of steak to choose from, ranging from their $11 7 oz. Sirloin to the $25 Porterhouse Special. The one knock on this location is the slight inconsistency on their steak temperatures. If I ask for medium rare, mine would show up as medium well. If my friend asked for well-done, he would get medium-rare. The seasoning on the steak is good, but the temperatures do need to be remedied. The side dishes (i.e. Corn on the Cob, Fries, Mashed Potatoes) are solid options and if you want to create a soft and turf, you have an option of adding a lobster tail. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and swapped the American cheese for mozzarella. It's amazing how low the prices are for what you get ... they are large meals and good quality. The burger was delicious. I'm not a big fan of fries but these were good, as was the gravy. I felt like something sweet so ordered an apple crumble. It was okay. Came in on a Thursday for the 50% off apps after 9pm. They made it very clear when we walked in that they were short of staff so even though they weren't full, we couldn't sit right away. We waited at the bar for around 30min and then waited another 30min for our food after ordering. We got the nachos and 2 pounds of wings. They're both great sizes and was enough for 2 people. Unfortunately they got one of our wing sauces wrong but they provided the correct order really quickly and didn't charge for it. Our server wasn't around much because of their short staff. You get what you paid for. Steak and lobster for less than $30. I got more fatty pieces in my meat and I gave the lobster tail to my wife so I ended up short. The server was nice giving us the menus and asking us what we wanted to drink. I ordered the 16oz rib steak (cooked medium) with fries. The girlfriend ordered a quesadilla and French onion soup. She thought the soup tasted real good but the quesadilla only so-so. My steak looked good on the plate but didn't taste that good. It was a bit bland. It wasn't seasoned at all. There was a buzz when Chuck's in Pickering first opened as it revolves around affordable steaks, beer and everything else pretty much. There was a wait of 25 minutes because there were many large parties on the 30th of December. We got a pager that reaches to the end of the parking lot. When we finally got a table, the waitress who didn't even mention her name took 15 minutes to get to us. Okay, cool. When the waitress finally took our drink order we decided to share a pitcher of 54oz. We were surprised by the amount of the pitcher had because there was so much room left to be filled. We asked to top it up and she declined because that is 54oz. Okay, whatever. We all ordered 10oz NY Cut Steaks with fries and my brother-in-law got the "all-you-can-eat" salad for an extra $5. Again, disappointing. The waitress didn't inform us that the restaurant had no croutons and she was not apologetic about it at all. You would think that with poor service like this would lead us to not giving her any tip but it's almost 2019 and we should ring in the new year right. Food was good. But the issue was the service. We had a friend's bday celebration at your Pickering location last Wednesday (July 26th), around 9:30pm. Our server (long curly haired female server) while we are in the process of ordering our food, gave us a rude remark "Wow! That is way too much food!" not sure why she said that tho?! Is it an insult that we don't have money to pay for our food? That is such an unusual remarks to give to a paying costumer in a restaurant! She further added, "You guys are not allowed to bring home your left over food" This part really bothers me! We cannot bring home food that we paid for? I don't think so! At the end of the night when we billed out, she hesitantly gave us out containers for our left overs, clearly, she just have to ruin our night by giving us her unsolicited speech at the beginning. This is the new place (same owners) where Crabby Joe's used to be. They have remodeled inside and opened up the space, removed the bar, and now they are a steak house. Chuck's is an affordable steak house, so don't expect to find prime steaks in huge expensive cuts. This place serves mostly smaller, thinner steaks at a budget price. Standard sides are fries (small serving) and a small grilled corn on the cob, and there is no bread served. If you want mashed or baked potato, that is an extra charge. Most of the steaks are in the $14-$20 range so it is an affordable meal. My steak was properly cooked to medium rare despite being very thin and was quite tasty. If you want a steak without the frills, try out Chucks's Roadhouse. I will go back again. read more

Have been a few times now and have never been disappointed. Service and food is good. Had the French Onion Soup for the first time tonight and it was good. My husband and I ordered the wings and ribs and the Roast beef dip sandwich and shared them. The wing were good. The ribs were really good, and the Roast Beef dip was really flavourful my only complaint was that the bun of the sandwich was way to soft and made it really difficult to dip it. The beer was cheap and not flat! I cant say that for half the pubs I frequent, so good on that note. As for the service and food. We got a table relatively quick at 5pm, but it took about 20 minutes for them to bring a child booster seat. We ordered steak and a roast beef sandwich, and the kids had the chicken strips and burger. The food took a good amount of time to arrive, and once it did I would say only the steak was decent. The roast beef sandwich was supper dry and the fries were over done. My child ate the chicken strips, even though they looked dry, because he had plenty of ketchup and plum sauce. My other child took a bite of the burger and refused to eat it. I tasted it myself and it was dry and burnt. Not a good combination for picky kids. We mentioned it to the waitress at the end of the meal, as she was not around much during the meal, and since we did eat the food (because I couldnt waste it) we did not ask for it to be removed from the bill. We did get a $5 voucher from the manger on the way out but I dont think we will be back again unless I am going for drinks and nachos (I saw someone else order it and it looked good!). It tasted ok, but I got so sick from their steak and lobster that I lost 10 lbs in 3 days. I was unable to eat or drink and I'm sure you know the rest. I do not want anyone to have to experience so im writing this review to give everyone a heads up, this was the sickest I have been in my entire life. The price was cheap, the food wa son, the wait time was horrendous, and the food made me think I was dieing the next day. Worst part of it all was when my girlfriend emailed them the next day they didn't get back to us until the following week and they didn't believe me and my hospital letter, they wanted me to go back again and prove it was from their food.
