don't know about some of the other viewer experiences , especially those from SFO, I never had a service problem, always honored coupons, work done on time. My only "beef" is parts are sold at MSRP prices, plus then a credit card surcharge added on, much cheaper on internet or other dealers, did not used to be that way, otherwise I'd add another star. Also my extended Subaru of America warrantee price kept changing, it was cheaper to buy , at initial purchase time. When I came back to buy later, I got the buy now run around, fortunately I knew the fair market price offered elsewhere ( $500 difference),the salesman finally matched it, don't understand why give a loyal customer the high ball, to see what you can get away with. read more

I agree with Nicole Rs post, their sales team is great, service is another story (see below). I too was a former Empire customer. Go see Vinny for your next car, he's the best!!! Their service department is AWFUL! If you purchased any kind of warranty for your car via Subaru of America, they will find any way NOT to work on your car because they won't be making money off of you. They will tell you that appointments are full, that it will be at least two weeks if you want to drop off and six if you'd like to wait. What?!! The latest rendition stems from a tire issue, regarding a slow leak. Called in and got a response closest to "ghostbustas, whaddya want?" They wanted me to do the following: -call Roadside assistance - have them put on a spare - drop tire off at dealership (myself, as in haul it in and out of the car and then just leave it there) -wait until they inspect it (which can be however long and you're stuck with a spare, no time frame provided even after asking, the question went ignored) - when it's "ready" you then come and "pick it up" - wait there to put it back on Now if I have to wait there for it to be put on, and there isn't a scheduled appointment, it's at their discretion as to when it's ready, I should hop to it and be ready when they are? To check a tire?! Absolutely atrocious attitudes. I was told "people do this all the time" OK- let's see then! I have never heard of this practice ever, so I had to investigate a little, because maybe it's just me. I asked other Subaru drivers if this is something that happens with their dealerships. I was met with a resounding no. So if you're asked to "call roadside and drop off your tire", don't do it You'll be waiting a week at least!! I don't like being this person, but I hope it helps others. I also asked Subaru of America if this is a standard practice(just in case it is normal and it's my misunderstanding) And they are absolutely NOT supposed to be doing this, as it's a liability. Find another dealership if you have the Tire Package, I went to South Shore instead- met with same day service, which I had no expectation of. Also the first thing they asked me at South Shore when they answered was if I was OK and if I needed immediate help on the road. That's the way to do it. Not "call roadside idgaf bye." I don't mind waiting if I am being accommodated whatsoever- I was looking for a little compassion, and helpful service, and was instead met with warranty= not worth my time. We got our car here 3 years ago and have been getting it serviced at Hasset which is a combination of Subaru and Ford. They have been mailing us coupons for certain services. Yesterda, I presented this coupon and they denied it because said it's from Hasset Ford, yet the front of the mail says Dear so and so, as a Hasset-Subaru owner please use this for services at Hasset Ford. The moron at the desk refused and said "IT'S ONLY FOR FORD" then ends it with "THAT'S WEIRD". Wow, good for you for being so lazy and refusing to accept his Hasset coupon or checking with your supervisor to make sure you understood how your company's Hasset Ford/Subaru coupon works. Get it? The customer service is horrific. What gets under my skin is the condescending tone that the service rep has. I was swindled into buying tire protection with my lease. Mistake number one. Mistake number 2 was making the assumption that if I ever needed a tire repair or replacement it would be an easy process. Nothing further from the truth. From a tone in someones voice that would get me fired from my job if I ever spoke to a customer the same way, to the dragging of their feet in replacing tire going in 3 days, I would strongly suggest that if you read this review that you use caution in buying their add-on tire protection, and you consider finding a different service center all together. Made an appointment for the first oil change, 3 weeks in advance to wait, they then said i had to leave it. After waiting all day for the call that my car is ready, I was disappointed to have to call them, wait 23 mins on hold to find out they never got to work on my car. It was an oil change and they had it all day??!!??!?! They recommend I call in the morning, after another 24 minutes on hold they said it's almost ready. Mind you, they open at 7:30am. I arrive at 830 and it's still being worked on. I don't recommend this service center at all. Poor customer service, they apparently overbook and don't follow up. read more

Leased my car 5/01/ 2022 Ive owned Subarus since 1984.. love them My first time dealing with Hasset The reason I leased with Hasset is my sales person relocated to Hasset so I leased the car from there. PS no complaints about my sales representative, hes great which is why I followed him there Hasset Subaru was 35 miles from my house where the other dealership I had previously purchased from was 3 miles 7/31/22 My a/c auto control wasn't working . It fluctuated while driving. 8/2/22 called Hassett to get an appointment none available till appt 8/29 due to shortage of loaners and obtaining part Meantime Prior to the appointment trunk lock would not open. Now they had 2 things to fix on a car I've only had three months 8/29 Hassett (Kathy) called me late in the day to let me know AC was fixed however, trunk part would not be available till the end of October. Since they already removed the lock from the trunk, it was not drivable. The car had to stay there. They expected me to not have a car for almost 2 months. There was nothing they could do for me. Asked them to check other dealers or take it from a car off the lot put it in mine. No dice Finally got corporate Subaru involved Corporate let me know they were trying to get a hold of the service manager. They got no response. When I called, I was told they moved the service manager to another car dealership they owned due to labor shortage When i finally got a hold of service managers he told me he hadn't heard from corporate and couldn't check his email from the other location. He had to wait till he got home. Really what kind of operation is this? That was when I was very clear. I wanted a new car under the lemon law. I only had the car three months. I'm paying for lease I'm not driving besides driving the loaner that was a less expensive model with much less amenities Thanks to corporate on 9/14 they located the part @ another dealership and had it sent to Hassett. This was a Wednesday I did not get a call. My car was not completed until the following Wednesday9/21 9/22 went to pick up car however, the battery was dead. I had to wait there until they charge the battery. Seriously... they don't check the car before releasing it. After waiting over an hour Driving the car home I found out the air-conditioning was not fixed. Called them back. They said bring the car in I'm like there is no way. Friday morning 9/23. I went to start my car. The battery was completely dead. Called Hassett. He said to bring the car right and they would give me a new battery so now I had to make a trip back Why wasn't this checked & addressed on Thursday before I picked up the car? At this point, I brought it back to metric. who I've been dealing with for years said they recently had another person come in with the same problem they researched it and figured out what it was. Then I went on the Internet and found the answer in Reddit. There had been complaints about this particular problem with the car and the AC. Brought the car to previous Subaru I had used for years , the car was fixed immediately while I waited. It took no time at all. They had figured out what the problem is by using their laptop going into the system and checking all the controls and computers on the previous car that had the issue so when mine came in, they knew exactly what it was. Why didn't Hasset do that? Whenever I asked to speak to the person in charge at Hassett, I never got a call back. . Obviously, I will never go to Hasset again. They do not care about customer service all they care about is selling cars. They really should have more loaners available for their customers 9/22/22 I received a follow up call from from customer service representative @ Hasset following up , asking if I was happy with the service I received. I asked her to look at my file. There was not no documentation of what went on with my car , she had no idea. So they have a person following up on service who has no idea what was done on the car. Initially everyone was very friendly and helpful. First I went to Subaru to see a vehicle and came back the next day to test drive it. As I'm sitting in the seat with the car started and ready to go, the salesman who stepped away and came back told me there is a deposit on the car. How did he not know that before? Ok.... I go over to their Ford dealership and their lease manager Tom brings me to his desk and we go over pricing on a lease. He asked me twice about if I had any leases in the house so i would quality for additional rebates. I told him twice NO. He still built out an amazing lease offer for me which I jumped at The next day I come for a test drive and he shows me the one level up of the vehicle. Both myself and my fiance test drive the truck and we're now excited for the lease. At the desk in the middle of our lease paper work, after asking me if we had a lease in the house for a third time and me saying NO once again, he comes back and says for us to stop filling out the paper work and now cannot do anything for us. How did something lkke this happen twice at the same dealership? How did mid excitement and mid deal all of a sudden the carpet was pulled from under us? Tom offered ZERO remorse for all the time he wasted of ours. He offered no additional options. Just "I can't do anything and have a good day". Disappointing and confusing. My husband and I were always interested in leasing or purchasing a Subaru so I figured I would go close to home and check them out to see if it was something we could afford. I received quotes from Jean Marie on a forrester lease and an outback lease. I was informed that they had an outback that was ready to go out and was canceled by the potential buyer at the last minute. It was the last day of the month and they were definitely trying to get this car out. I looked at it and loved it but wanted to speak to my husband first. I did not give them any information other than my name and address, did not sign anything, and did not leave with any paperwork or confirm an offer. My husband and I decided to wait. Suddenly I started receiving things from Subaru. I received an email from sirius XM stating that my new trial subscription in my 2020 outback had started.... ummm what outback? I don't own one or have one in my possession. Weird. I called sirius and under my current plan an outback was put under my name. I attempted to call Subaru of Wantagh to see what was going on, left a message for the manager Matt and received no call back. THEN I got mail to my house from Subaru corporate with my added security agreement registration form with cards and all of the vehicle information with MY NAME on it with the VIN # and exact description of the car I looked at that I DO NOT OWN! I called to speak to the manager of Subaru of Wantagh for the not THIRD time (day before I got this I left him a message and that wasn't returned either). A woman asked if I had left a message for him already (meaning day prior) after coming back from putting me on hold then proceeded to tell me that he was in a meeting and would call me back. He NEVER called me back! Definitely some shady business going on with this and I was totally avoided. I ended up reaching out to corporate who took care of this issue. I was told my name was listed as the owner of that exact car after I gave them the VIN number. This is extremely frustrating and completely wrong on their part. How can you put my name as an owner of a car I did not agree to or sign for or even have in my possession???? Corporate said the manager would reach out to me to explain this and what do you know...he DID NOT. I will never recommend this dealership to anyone and actually will tell them to completely avoid using them. Rae Cangcuesta was extremely helpful throughout the process. She spent time explaining the car and the features. I was assured by Rae that there are no hidden extras -- unlike other dealers -- and was pleasantly surprised at closing that Hassett Subaru doesn't add a lot of dealer charges to the cost. I am very disappointed and angry with these people. I never in my life experience this type of abuse. This is the third time I brought my boyfriend's car for oil change. The first time oil changed was free as per the package we got when we bought the car. The second time in order to have the oil change free they lied to me and made me do a Tires Rotation service and in the invoice they wrote "AS PER CUSTOMER REQUEST", this third and last time I went for ONLY oil change. I paid $86.84 for synthetic oil that I did not request. These people in the service department are a bunch of scumbags!!!! This is the ABSOLUTE WORST place ever. NEVER under any circumstances bring your car here for service or buy from this dealer. To make a very long story short - my husband's car stalled on the highway and he brought his 2013 Subaru Crosstrek to Hassett because a friend told him that there was a recall on the spring valve (from 5 years ago, which we were never notified of). Vlad wanted to charge my husband a few thousand dollars to breakdown the engine, even though that was a requirement of the recall. We checked the VIN and his car was covered by the recall. My husband then called Subaru headquarters who sent a tech supervisor to investigate the situation. The tech supervisor said the problem was due to the recall so the engine breakdown was covered. The tech supervisor said the "rocker arm had come loose from excessive lash, but was tied to the recall issue," and also added that there was no other damage. Hassett was forced by Subaru to preform the recall fix. My husband picked up his car (we live 2 miles from Hassett) and the very next day the car wouldn't accelerate and was constantly misfiring. My husband brought the car back to Hassett. The tech supervisor came out again to investigate, this time there was additional damage to the cam shaft (which was not there before Hassett worked on the car). Hassett told Subaru headquarters that there was a preexisting issue with the car (which was totally false). As a result Subaru would not cover the cost to fix the problem that Hassett caused. Thanks to Hassett lying to Subaru headquarters we have a car that doesn't run and can't afford a new one. read more

I purchased a Subaru legacy about four weeks ago and forth with Al over at Hassett. I was very happy with the price on my vehicle as well as the salesman explaining the other options that the car had. They beat Smithtown Subaru price by $250 and this car had every option. I was very happy with the service here. UPDATE: I have had the car for a few months now and I love the EYESIGHT!!! Only weird thing is when I open the car door after auto-started the car shuts off. It happens even if I open the trunk while auto-started. Strange, usually have to step on the brake for that to happen. I have to call service and see if they can fix it. read more

It happened to be a Saturday afternoon so someone who worked here said to call Monday morning and "they'll get us right in". After making child care and work arrangements, when we called that Monday we were told the earliest they could get us in was 3 weeks from then. If they were honest and we were told initially that the earliest appointment was in three weeks, it would have saved us a lot of stress. Women BEWARE - TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SERVICE I went to bring my car into the dealership for the recall on my airbags, I get a call within a few hours of dropping it off telling me my brakes were very low and need replacing as soon as possible. Well my husband is capable of my brakes so I bought new brake pads over the weekend and yesterday he took the old brake pads off with 75% of the brake pad still remaining. Heaven forbid I didn't have someone I knew to replace my pads I would of paid an arm and a leg for service at the dealership and not had a clue if they were that bad or not. I AM MODIFIED how they lied to me and made it sound like an emergency. Service technician scamming women/people all the time for probably a commission/sales. Ugh I bought a new subaru in May 2019. The car had blown fuzes also the Bluetooth was nonfunctional. Again fuzes. Do you remember when Chevy Chases car is crushed in Vacation? I didn't want this car . I was told that I must take it. The following week I brought it back I took my loaner home and waited until 330 on a Friday afternoon. My car was not ready and I'd have to wait until Tuesday. Yeah that won't work. After fighting with them they gave me my broken car back . Received a cookie cutter response a couple days later from a fella named Louis. The e-mail was a song and dance about how the "customer is always the #1 priority" and "contact me to discuss any aspect of your car-buying experience". Well, I e-mailed him back explaining that I kinda did contact them already in my first e-mail to them, and perhaps they should actually read the e-mail and respond with something that would actually be helpful to me. Naturally, that second e-mail got two cookie cutter responses a couple days apart, one from the same Louis fella, and another from Jeanmarie. Neither answering any questions, or providing any info about what I actually inquired about, but a similar e-mail to the first one they sent. These folks seem to be a bit on the "slow" side and don't understand that they are in the customer service business. You're selling cars folks, respond to e-mails like you want the business. If this is how they treat potential customers, I can only imagine what happens when they close the sale. read more

I'm not sure why this dealer only has 2.5 stars on Yelp. I've been leasing and buying cars for 45 years. It's a process that I've always experienced as an anxiety attack waiting to happen. The premises is unassuming. The selection of cars is wide. And most surprising, the salesman, Omar, had my best interests at heart. We test drove several vehicles and reroad them when my wife, Gloria, came by. I told Omar what options and amenities I required and we located the right vehicle, an Outback, at the right price. Everything about the process was a pleasure. Picking up the car the next day was on time and thorough. I had checked another dealer closer to home and wasn't pleased with their overall attitude. Went in there on Saturday Sept 29 2018 in the afternoon, with my wife and kids. I was standing in front of 2 sales people a good 5 minutes and none of them asked to help me. Then along comes a white man and gets helped right away. Never felt so discriminated. It gets worse. I only went there cause i was referred to by a neighbor to speak to a certain person. I saw the person I was suppose to talk to, introduced myself and he told me that he would be with me in one minute and that he is finishing up with some customers.. I said ok. No problem. I saw him finish up with the customers, saw the customers leave. Said to myself finally, some help. That person got up and plopped himself to another computer, he finished there then went to smoke a cigarette, and then disappeared. So that one minute I was told to wait became 30 minutes. I had enough told my wife and kids is time to go. So 1 hour there and no help whatsoever. I do plan to contact Subaru headquarters and file a formal complaint with them, about how Hassett Subaru handles their customers. So disappointed in this dealership. All I wanted was the refund from my purchased extended subaru warranty. I had traded one subaru for another one. I am entitled to the money back on the remaining extended warranty. I personally handed all my paperwork to the dealership in June of 2018. As of August still heard nothing about the refund. He has been wonderful and I will never speak to anyone else in the service dept as long as I own this car. He is honest, professional and respectful. Did not want to look up parts even when I Gave him the numbers. Just said we don't have them. No offer to order. Rude enough for me to leave. My money and their sale went with me.
