I have been eating at Hasta La Pasta since I moved to Texas in 2010. I've had many wonderful experiences inside the restaurant and ordering delivery. Yesterday my friend and I ordered delivery, and I wanted to share that we had a 3/5 star experience. Specifically, the rolls were hard and only some of them were fresh, the other ones were clearly thrown into a paper bag, from a commercial source. Also, the sauce on the pasta was noticeably less proportionate than usual. I encourage you guys not to backslide, like so many businesses have! You're too quality for that. I want to continue patronizing your business, but I am a stickler for quality and value. read more

This was a delightful dining experience. To start, the fried ravioli was a treat. Crispy on the outside and deliciously cheesy on the inside. The side salad was fresh and served with a flavorful dressing. For the main course, the chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. I especially loved the option to choose zucchini noodles over traditional pasta. We made reservations for the evening of February 21. There were 14 of us. They let us have their separate room. It was wonderful. The food was delicious & the waitstaff was on top of it. An adorable young man named Weston was our waiter. It was a fun night! We will definitely be back! read more

Love this place for Italian food. Great small hole in the wall sort of restaurant. Love their fresh bread rolls. We ordered the Toasted Ravioli - breaded cheese ravioli served with tomato sauce appetizer. Decent. I came here for my 34 birthday! It was fun. The service was from a young man whose friendly and patient with our party of four. It being in spring break week we had the place to ourselves minus two other parties there. The TV were playing in both rooms and it was nice to see the dessert out on display and just browse it. Now for my meal i had the full alfredo pasta tossed with chicken and Caesar salad top with cheese on both! To die for... My birthday cake was a delicious slice of cheese cake top with strawberry glaze. The wrote in choc frosting happy birthday! I was teary eye by the gesture. Solid pasta for a good price. It's a go to for any team event to not spend a ton of money. I can't speak to the sit down aspect because I've always gotten the food to go, but the food itself is solid. We've tried the chicken alfredo and the vegan lasagna. Both are great options. read more

It's Valentine's, I'm solo, and I wanted Italian food. Scrolling through my lists...I saw this place had Veal Parmigiana. Growing up in the northeast, I used to love ordering thjs dish. I've been in Houston 13 years, can't tell you the last time I had it. They got a pretty loaded menu and you got no excuse for leaving hungry. I ordered via UberEats so I knew it would take some time since I live 8 miles from the place. I didn't want salad, but I got two fresh rolls with a "MOGHEA" dipping sauce. When you order Italian, you gotta have bread. It's the first thing we all look for. That being said, I digged the rolls. I got a side of Linguine. The marinara was definitely fresh and they use fresh cloves of garlic. Your pasta isn't going to drown in the sauce either, but you can order that way if you want. We arrived for dinner on a weeknight. The restaurant was not busy, yet the service was horrible. It took 40 minutes to get drinks ordered for happy hour and we had to remind the waiter that we had not received our salads yet. Complained to the manager and suddenly another waiter took care of us. We wanted to eat here for some time. Our Facebook group keeps on recommending HLP and we were finally in the the neighborhood. It was not good. Second star for service BUT the food was not what we expected. Table of four. Two pizzas (both not good), calamari (we sent it back it was inedible), soup (good) and mussels in a cream sauce (uhg). We selected the full service side. Not sure why. It was instinct when confronted with this life changing decision:). We should have turned right and did the self service side. In a word - underwhelming. I've tried Hasta La Pasta a few times now and every time I've been reminded as to why I'd told myself I'd not try it again. As a self-proclaimed Italian restaurant, how can you screw up spaghetti and meatballs so conclusively? Let's go over it; Firstly, I'd just like to point out that I do not dine-in. All of my orders are to-go. So I can't say anything about the dine-in experience related to ambiance of the establishment, quality of dining service, or the staff. I just want to be clear on that my review in no way reflects upon these aspects. It is purely based upon the food I have received. I've order spaghetti and meatballs w/meat sauce twice now along with a couple of other items. All have been underwhelming but I'd like to focus on the staple here; spaghetti. They absolutely refuse to provide any decent portion of sauce here. You'd think the sauce is the lifeblood of the planet with how little they provide on an order of spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce. And let's talk about said meat SAUCE - because both times there was not a drop of sauce in sight with that meat. It was simply a portion of overcooked, bland ground beef dumped on top of my order. You'd think with the word "sauce" so clearly written in the option of adding "meat sauce" that you'd get some. You'd be mistaken as I've been now multiple times. The meatballs aren't anything to write home about either. Dry as a paper towel, uninspired, and bland bland bland. Akin to chewing on a piece of tire rubber that's been baking in the sun for year. Not even the meager helping of sauce provided with my order could help to mask this. Each time I took a bite, and moved them over to the side to try and find some spaghetti that had even remotely enough sauce on it. The sauce itself isn't that bad, but isn't outstanding either. The dish itself would taste much better if they covered it with sauce as it would help with the overall dryness of the meatballs and ground beef with no sauce on it. Have I mentioned that the meal did not have enough sauce yet? Because I'm trying to really hammer that point home that this establishment is absolutely greedy when it comes to providing it. The house salad isn't anything to write home about. Only a couple of dressing options and neither are great. And the salad itself...not really sure it should be called a "salad" considering it's 99.9% lettuce with some meager portions of tomatoes, olives, and red onions. May have been something else in there - but like with their sauce? I sure didn't find anything. Took a few bites and tossed it. I'd be better suited running to Kroger or HEB, buying a head of iceberg and just taking bites out of it and drinking watered down vinaigrette. The bread was decent - actually out of all three items the bread was the item which tasted the best, but you could tell it wasn't fresh. Hard and overly chewy. But when compared to the other items? It was the best out of them - but to be clear, that's not saying much. What's obvious to me here is this is Hasta La Pasta's modus operandi as two times over the last several months I've ordered this exact meal and both times it was identical to how I've spoken above. Maybe it's different when dining in? Maybe they need larger to-go containers? Maybe they need to stop measuring the sauce portions like it's gamma spectroscopy. But as far as I'm concerned? It's no issue any longer as this is the last-last-LAST time I'll be giving my money to Hasta-La-Pasta only to be completely let down. Anyone know any good Italian around here??? read more

I haven't been impressed with Hasta La Pasta recently. I understand that college kids need jobs and that's great but the entire staff! Where are the adults? The only time I ordered online for an in store pickup the salads were forgotten. When I called whoever picked up the phone couldn't even say Hasta La Pasta and was confused about what I saying. I think if you're running a business you should have competent service. I feel that's what this restaurant lacks. Also the food isn't quite as good as I remember. Staff was excellent! We showed up with ten people and they were able to accommodate us by ordering at the counter. They were very friendly over the phone and in person. I got the full Ripalla with chicken. It's a sun dried tomato creamy sauced linguini pasta with goat cheese. It was really good. It came with a caesar salad that was pretty good. The fried ravioli was a bit over cooked but the ricotta was really tasty. I finished off with the cheesecake and it was absolutely creamy and came with and raspberry sauce. Solid dessert. Overall it was a great experience and my group was able to all eat together and it was really tasty. No one was missing food and the prices weren't too high either for the quality and portions of the food we got. read more

We are long-long-time customers of the restaurant and have always had excellent food and service. However, the last two visits have been so disappointing. We went in for lunch a few weeks ago and the waiter handed us menus over the front counter and told us to sit where we wanted. We got bread and then were promptly ignored for 15 minutes while tables around us were served. We walked out. The manager saw us walk out but didn't inquire why. We decided to give them another try. Our waiter this time gave us minimal attention. We had to get our own drink refills. The worst part is that we were seated near the bar where the waitstaff hid out and talked amongst themselves the entire time we were there. We even saw our waiter filling his own drink while we looked over at him waiting for service. I don't know what happened to the waitstaff but clearly retraining is badly needed. Sauce was great, fresh but ravioli I think was frozen and reheated. Not worth the price point as it did years ago. Management I am thinking does not care and just goes by name brand here. Excellence starts with Management. Not an upscale Italian restaurant as it used to be. More of a fast food Italian and overpriced. Even salad was not fresh. Hasta la Pasta is our go to when we want to do an affordable meal kit & it's usually a hit. This time however, I ordered the chicken tortellini from the adult menu but they forgot the chicken. Ughh ok - I guess mistakes happen. So I called & talked to the manager & she said would charge me $12 instead of $14. Wait, so the chicken is 2 bucks? I didn't even ask for the entire dish to be comped, but half seems fair given it was your mistake. Nope. Either come get the chicken or we can give you a new chicken tortellini on another day. The fact that it was was closer to a kid's meal portion didn't even bother me, but no chicken? And no refund for your mistake (or even 1/2)? That just doesn't work for me. Disappointing. read more

I then asked if the restaurant was self sitting and she told me yes (no signs, still no "how many?") i basically hosted myself.She told me she'd be with me and i waited another while before the guy came. He was pretty cool. The food wasn't as seasoned. I order the di mare, ceaser salad, and calamari. The best out of the all was the salad and appetizers. Truth -- The last time I had a restaurant meatball was about 13 years ago at Buca di Beppo in Chicago. I actually don't like a lot of meat in my spaghetti with marinara. Ok, I asked Katy Foodies where a good Chicken Piccata could be found and the majority said try Hasta la Pasta. My husband and I go out every Friday for our date night. It is in a little shopping strip and they have outdoor dining. It was such a lovely evening we decided to eat outdoors. We get there and the lady at the front was very sweet and explained to us where we could sit, get drinks, look at the menu, etc. we looked over the menu but I knew what I wanted. I got the chicken piccata and hubby got the chicken Alfredo. We got our drinks and went outside. I was very pleased that we were not forgotten.... you know how it is when you dine outside sometimes. We did get an appetizer, the shrimp and artichoke. They brought it out and it was darn good! I really enjoyed it. When they brought out the bread I thought it did not look very appealing. I was wrong..... the bread was very good and the dipping oil is phenomenal. When our main meal came out it really looked delicious. I was very excited. Sadly the first bite was very bland. It was disappointing because it did not have any taste and the sauce and capers did nothing for the meal. Hubby, on the other hand, loved his Alfredo and I had a bite of his and it was really good. We have been here several times but this evening we sat in the bar for dinner so we could also enjoy the happy hour. We started with the stuffed mushrooms ($5.99) and Crawford Bock ($3.99) and house Chardonnay ($2.99). Mushrooms were tasty without feeling heavy. They serve complimentary bread with dipping oil and butter. For our dinner we ordered Chicken Campagnola ($16) and Hasta La Pasta with chicken ($16). Both come with salad - Caesar or house. Please know that the $19.00 lobster ravioli is a small serving...very small. Please don't expect an actual entree sized portion for $19.00. You will only get only 5 ravioli, 3 shrimp, 4-5 slices of a mushroom in a watery/liquidy "cream" sauce. Love this place and it's locally owned. Definitely a must if you're in this area and you like Italian food. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and bring food to your table. They have a pretty good selection of wine but I've only tried the Pinot Grigio. Food is pretty great! The fried ravioli is a must have. Sometimes I purchase two orders of this for my entrees and call it a day. Delicious!! Stuffed mushrooms are also really great and I've had a couple of their other dishes and taken my family to come eat. They have all enjoyed it AND my partner even get upset if I go without him. Lol The staff is always friendly and are super attentive. I did prefer when they offered table service VS. Ordering at the counter for my own convenience but that's just a personal preference. They had to make the change to counter service due to the impacts of Covid 19 so they can continue to serve our community and keep their staff employed.
