I have been trying to trade my car in but it's been difficult since I owe more than it's worth. So Logan from this dealership reached out because I was trying to get an idea on the value of my car. I explained numerous times that I did not have a co-signer or a down payment. I filled out the application and they started making inquiries after inquires. I was told that they needed to see my vehicle to get an accurate value. Fair enough! I had planned to go up there on Saturday and I was going to cancel but Logan told me he got me approved and congratulations. So I drove 40 minutes from Edina and when I get there Logan tells me he got me approved for a Subaru Forester. Not a bad car, but what was neglected to be mentioned was the car was a 2017 with over 150,000 miles and no warranty. Didn't let me look at it nor did they provide an Ipacket and there was no carfax report to look at. So I'm waiting and waiting to see this car when this kid from finance comes out to tell me I need money down. Now, I'm beyond livid. I explained to this kid that I had already told Logan I didn't have any money down or a cosigner. I said I drove all the way here for nothing and they wasted me time. If I'm told I'm approved and congratulations, that usually means the deal is done. No apology and this kid from finance didn't seem to care that he just lost a customer, but seeing that they only have a 2.9 rating is starting to make sense. Logan told me he had a number of different cars to look at but didn't show me a thing. I've been to other dealerships and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. On July 26th, 2025, I brought my 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer to Hastings Chrysler for replacement of the front air suspension. My out of pocket cost was $3,301.97 as my extended warranty did not cover it. During that time, one of their technicians broke the steering knuckle, which is a major structural part that connects the suspension, brakes, and steering system. The dealership did not disclose this to me and gave my vehicle back to me in this compromised condition. Then, unknowingly, I drove it for roughly 5,000 miles with the broken steering knuckle. A part thats failure can cause loss of control, severe injury or death while driving. September 6th, 2025, I was due for an oil change and technicians at another auto shop discovered the broken knuckle. I brought it back in to Hastings Chrysler on September 8th, 2025. At that point, Hastings Chrysler admitted that the steering knuckle had been broken during their earlier service on July 26th, 2025 and replaced it at no charge. My vehicle was in their shop for almost four weeks waiting on the steering knuckle replacement as it was on a national backorder. I picked my vehicle up on October 1st, 2025. On October 6th, 2025, I returned to the dealership, again, because the vehicle still wasn't driving properly after the knuckle replacement. This time, the technicians discovered that the tie rod had been left loose from the previous steering knuckle repair. That means my steering linkage was not properly secured, failure that could have caused severe harm. That's two separate instances where my vehicle was released back to me in an unsafe driving condition. Both caused by their dealership's and technician's negligence and both undisclosed until discovered later. When I asked what they intended to do to make this right and requested that they buy the vehicle from me after all my troubles had with it, I was told by their General Manager, Bart Huppert, that he could offer me only "fair market value" for my vehicle after it has been compromised by his dealership. Keep in mind, even after they repaired the parts, further issues will arise due to hidden damage and premature wear to related components such as control arms, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings, struts, and the hub assembly. The weakened parts may not fail immediately but will shorten the lifespan and reliability of the vehicle moving forward. I should not have to pay to replace these parts when they do fail. In addition, driving with my vehicle approximately 5,000 miles in a compromised state will also reduce it's resale value as knowledgable buyers and dealers would treat a car with this type of damage history similar to one involved in an accident. October 9th, 2025, I tried to resolve this directly with Hastings Chrysler and I wrote an email to Mr. Huppert stating his resolution was not going to resolve my future concerns. I asked that the dealership buy the car from me, including the debt I owe after "fair market value", because even after repaired, it doesn't restore the vehicle to what it was or it's original integrity, safety or value. All I received was a dismissive email saying the dealership had been "fair" because they repaired the knuckle and tightened the tie rod that they broke in the first place. In his own words: "No injuries were sustained, and no additional damage was done to your vehicle." That statement misses the entire point. This email was strictly about accountability and trust. No customer should ever be handed back a vehicle in unsafe condition, especially not twice. The absence of a crash doesn't erase the danger they put me in. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience as a customer and small business owner who simply wanted honest service. I've always believed that mistakes can happen, but when they do, the right thing to do is own them and make them right. Hastings Chrysler has had multiple chances to do that and has chosen not to. Bought a jeep grand cherokee 2012 was used but apparently they don't go over their trade ins too good. Owned it little over month and engine check light comes on. Figure was O2 sensor. Well it was but the intake manifold wasnt put on straight. And costed me $1400 and im lucky if i put 150 miles on the car... Other than that its nice but whoever looks over their trade ins needs to be retrained or fired. I agree with many of the low scores in this section. I live in S. Mpls and it is 30 miles each way. I leased a 2021 Grand in Sept. 2021. Lease is due up in Sept 2023. Mopar Mats: Purchased the Mopar floor mats for $182.00, new. The front mats leak through the corner locks around the lock pins and let salt through. The back mats are 2 piece and lock on top of the tunnel. They were never locked together on top of the tunnel. Detailing on pickup: The inside of the windshield and rear cargo windows were never cleaned. PermaPlate: Purchased the PermaPlate protectant for $1283.00, new. Had to bring the vehicle back for that, they gave me a loaner. Picked up vehicle when done and had to clean roof, pillars and hood around windshield due to lack of attention to detail. Rest of the vehicle looked fine. Oil Change: March 2022 first oil change: Oil on the engine cover, never reset the Oil Life setting. PermaPlate and body damage: April 2022, 1 month after the oil change, got a call that the windshield was never Perma Plated. Another trip and it was done while I waited by one of the customer service people in the drive in bay. A couple of weeks later, while cleaning snow off the vehicle, I noticed damage to the passenger door in front of the mirror between the door and the fender. The fender was pushed out and the paint was cracked and missing on the fender, about 1/2 inch long X ¼ inch wide. Looked like something got caught between the door and fender when the door was closed. This vehicle has NEVER been anywhere else for maintenance. The damage was done, not going to drive another 60 miles to show Hastings, so I waited until the next oil change in August 2022. Reviewed the situation with the Service Manager and he offered no explanation nor any kind of resolution. May 2023, I got a verbal quote from Caliber Collision, Mpls. for $2,000.00 to repair the 1/2 inch area. Got two more written quotes for $1740.00+ to repair the area. All described the work similarly because it is 3-stage paint, trim and logos are single use, and associated work to open the area up and blend the paint is labor intensive. Labor close to $75.00/hr and paint is expensive. It is about a 4 day job total. This is still open for discussion with Hastings. Oil change and Tires: Last oil change on 6/1/23, mileage 17,582. Again, oil on the engine cover, Oil Life not reset. Also, I was told the Michelin Premiere LTX 265/80 R18 tires are in a Yellow inspection status and good for a couple more months, after driven only 17,582 miles! Michelinman.com shows these tires have a mileage warranty for 60,000 miles for a 2021 Jeep Grand. One of the service attendants said Hastings can make me an offer on 3 new tires and 1 for free. I have the oil changed at approx. 4K miles, tires rotated and watch the tire pressures regularly. I asked Service if there is a warranty/pro-rate option and two days later, no answer. When I showed my surprise about needing new tires at 17,582, the response was "Well how much do you drive?". One look at the records and a little math should figure that one out. Registration: When Hastings transferred my old vehicle plates to the 2021, they set the registration renewal at Aug. The vehicle comes off lease in Sept. 2023. Now I have to go to DMV, show them the lease termination and they will pro-rate me 1 month and give me tags for SEP so I don't get pulled over for illegal registration which will cost about $40.00. Better than a ticket. Damage quote: During July 2022 someone hit the vehicle in a parking lot and broke the passenger rear light assembly and the bumper cover is slightly out of alignment. For those who know a later model Jeep with backup/crossign radar can not even back into a bush. So someone had to back into it. Hastings gave me a quote of $497.00 to replace just the light assembly. I purchased an authorized Chrysler replacement online for $250.00 and installed it in 20mins myself. I'm not buying the business approach posted on their website either. 6/6/23 update - Brad Huppert left me a yelp text to see what we can do. 6/7/23 I returned his call a left a vmail. He now has my cell. Let's see what happens. read more

Bought a 2021 Jeep Gladiator using the salesperson from Hastings Chrystler but vehicle was at Hastings Ford. Purchasing part was pretty good however once the vehicle was purchased I had nothing but issues with Hastings Chrysler. I have dealt with a manager from each department (Sales, Service and Parts) and they all want you to believe they are there for you and will work with you but when it comes down to it, they do not stick to their word. Most recent experience was I called the Parts manager (Cory or Cody) and questioned why I received a letter stating my recall part was in when I was told a month prior it was not needed and then a few days ago received a phone call confirming it was not needed. He claims that service didn't mark it off that it had been checked and is good. I then requested to have Jason (service manager) reach out to me because I have an apt in Feb for a hood issue but could not recall the date. He said he would give him the message and assured he would call me back in 1 business day. Well, it's now been a week and I had to call them and when I spoke to Jason he never received the message. Seriously? Is customer service really that difficult? To be honest, I work in Healthcare as a Supervisor in Customer billing so I completely understand customer service and hoe important it is to follow through with what you say. I am beyond frustrated as I purchased my Jeep on Black Friday (2023) and have had nothing but poor experience with the dealership. Previous years I had gone to Luther in Brooklyn Park and had purchased 4 brand new vehicles from them over my lifetime and will NEVER go to anyone else, so when I am ready to trade this vehicle, I will be going back to Luther! read more

These people claim to be Christian and faith based, if the Christian thing to do is take advantage of your fellow man then this place has the mission well covered. Bought a used F350 from them and I have had nothing but problems with it. Took it back after it threw a belt with less than 100 miles since purchase and they wanted to split the $1100 bill with me. They ended up covering it after I told them no. Then on my inspection they did I suddenly needed both front wheel bearings, they both apparently went bad in the 100 miles I drove it. When I called and talked to the owner Doug he claimed they didn't inspect it prior to me purchasing since it had over 100k miles on it. My salesman told me this do a safety inspection on anything with over 100k miles but not the comprehensive one. So, when they may get a sale on some parts they can afford to do an inspection, but if it might be on their dime they do not inspect it even if they said they did. The bottom line is I trusted them, I didn't think a faith based dealer would be so deceptive and manipulative, it's obviously just a rouse and I fell for it. This is my third vehicle purchase from them and it will be my last, and I will continue to tell everyone I know about the shady and deceptive business practices of Hastings Ford and Chrysler. I wanted to like this place, I really did. After buying a few vehicles at one of the largest dealers in the state, I was looking for a change. I had asked the sales team what they could offer over the bigger dealers, the only answer they said was better customer service. Unfortunately they could not even manage that. I had problems from start to finish. They never once needed to "sell me". I know the vehicle I wanted and was planning to order it instead of buying off the lot as I have always done done in the past. I just needed to understand which particular feature I wanted and to understand the process. Unfortunately, I was given more bad info than good. I was given incorrect info on features, warranty limits and financing. The sales manger frequently walked into the conversations and would offer bad info because he was not part of earlier discussions. It was worse on phone calls with my salesperson. Several times I called with questions and I was told to hold while he checked or he would call me back, but without warning, the next thing I know I was talking to the sales manager instead of the salesperson I was wanting to talk to as I was trying to keep conversations to just one point of contact because I was getting tired of "help" from people who didn't know the whole story. When it came time to order, I was only offered their standard discount. They refused to negotiate one cent. I finally relented only because it was the end of the month and I wanted to take advantage of a financing deal that I was expecting to end im a couple days. When I went there to complete the paperwork for the order, my salesperson passed me off on someone else to help me. When the vehicle arrived a few months later, I made an appointment with him to pick it up, he did it again. I was once again pawned off on another person. I really felt like purchase was not important enough to give me personal service. About six weeks later, I made an appointment for my first oil change, recall work and to fix a couple things that not right from the factory. Since I had a few things for them to do and the dealer was about 30 minutes away, I picked a day for when they had a loaner car available, which as a week out. When I showed up for my appointment and got checked in, they realized they forgot to reserve a car for me. So I had to be rescheduled for another day. When I came back the second time, they called me to tell me all work was done and I could pick it up. But they tried to charge me for something that was broke broke when I bought the vehicle and should have been covered under the warranty anyway. After I left, I discovered they put the wrong engine oil in, didn't fix something I had requested to be fixed, broke something else they didn't tell me about. So I had so make a 3rd appointment to come back. Then they tried to charge me for something that was missing when I bought the truck and couldn't fix the thing they broke. Throughout all of this, I escalated my issues and concerns to sales and service managers but all I got was a runaround. Sales team blamed the service people for things and the servile people would blame the sales team. They never addressed all my issues and stopped returning calls. I ended up fixing the thing they broke myself. There was other issues that I even left out. I should have trusted my instincts and walked away long before I ever bought from them. But I wanted to give them them a fair chance to show me that that better customer service they promised but it never happened. EDIT: Why is it that the only response you ever get from this is "Please call us. We want to make it right" when they didn't try to "make it right" all the times I contacted them in the first place? I bought a $65K truck from them and have been in several times for service. They have my name, so why is it that they never try to call to "make it right" instead? read more

They told us is needed different repairs up front, then when we took it to our mechanic we got a way different diagnosis. They misdiagnosed my 2014 Jeep Cherokee. They thought it was the PTU. After I went to replace it myself, I found out it wasn't the PTU, it was the rear end differential. After disconnecting the drive shaft from the rear end there was no more noise coming from the PTU. I called and complained and they wouldn't refund me the $500 they charged for a misdiagnosis. As soon as you walk in the door, you can hear the Christian music playing on their sound system and you feel right at home. The staff are always very friendly and professional. Excellent experience. My check engine light was on and I have an active recall. I called a large Dodge dealer in Bloomington. They wanted one day to check the check engine light, one day to fix the check engine light, one day to see if I needed the recall, one day to do the recall. Four days total and I was on my own for transportation! Hastings Chrysler did it all in one day, reasonable price, friendly people and they gave me a loaner! I used to live in Hastings, now St Paul. Let me tell you about my recent experience at Hastings Chrysler Center. I drove down to Hastings from Eden Prairie on Thursday May 17th to test drive a Dodge Charger. I was very interested in purchasing the vehicle. However, there appeared to be a minor glitch with the idling so I wanted to have the vehicle serviced before I made the purchase. It was getting late so I stayed overnight in the Hastings area and was to check back on the vehicle the next morning. The following morning I called Hastings Chrysler Center to get an update on my vehicle. I was told the vehicle would be getting serviced and I should come back later to re-test drive the vehicle and make the purchase. Later that afternoon, I stopped by the dealership to see how the vehicle I intended on purchasing was doing and guess what I found out?! Hastings Chrysler Center sold the vehicle that I was clearly going to purchase right out from underneath me!! Then minutes after I just found out they sold the vehicle I was going to purchase, their sales guy, Timothy, tried to pressure me into purchasing a Chevy Impala that I clearly was interested in! Really, Hastings Chrysler?! You're going to sell my vehicle out from underneath me and then try to pressure me into buying a lesser vehicle. Not only did Hastings Chrysler lose all my potential future business but they will also be losing all the potential future business of everyone I know. And I live in an affluent area in Eden Prairie and I know lots of people with lots of money to throw down on vehicles. Complete bush league move Hastings Chrysler Center! Hi everyone, I'm a family woman that came to this business looking for a reliable vehicle. Yes, my choices were limited. So I decided to loan an as is. Please do not make the same mistake as me. I looked at the vehicle, test drove and yes it was nice during the day. Came to final purchase and noticed a headlight was out. I did everything from purchasing bulbs, fuses, ect. Problem became further a week later no headlights. Got the cost to fix, its over $600. Next I plugged in my metro ride. This came up with plenty of codes for misfire, battery, anti-skid. You may be thinking these are easy fixes. Well when you go in to a dealership with your kids, you expect these people to have a heart and not sell something that is a problems right from the start. This vehicle was a little over priced as is so you think they would have at least checked the oil. NO, wrong.. Now I'm left in debt with a bank with a vehicle that's going to cost more than its worth to fix. I now have to come up with the money for a new engine. I haven't even drove this vehicle 900 miles. Current miles are 154xxx, this is rediculious. I'm a single mom. Please if you are smart, unlike i was. Do not trust this company. All they want is their commission. They do not care about even checking the oil, which mine has large metal chunks in. This is why I need a new engine. I'm stuck in this contract and no vehicle to provide my children with transportation. Over all cost to fix this vehicle is $5,000.00. No thanks to the bank or Hastings Chrysler Center. I wouldn't recommend any one there. If you buy from this lot, make sure its brand new. read more

I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great car at a great price. Shawn did a phenomenal job finding me a beautiful car that I absolutely love. I'm extremely indecisive and had to take it on 4 different consecutive test drives; Shawn was very patient with me, which I had not expected. He was very truthful with what he thought would be a good fit for me and very up front with what he thought wouldn't be. My parents have purchased Jeeps from this location for several years and that is why I initially had to check it out- they recommend these guys too! I negotiated a deal on a brand new truck that would include the GPS. The deal was talked about in front of my fiancé and Chris specifically about the GPS. I purchased the additional undercoating, top coat, and fabric protection. So obviously I have no problem paying for additional items to be done to the truck. It is true that I didn't look at all the items to be done to the truck before I signed the paperwork and that is where they got me. It was obvious that Chris did either a bait and switch or just flat out lied to us. When it came time to do all the additional items to the truck. It magically became an additional purchase when my fiancé went to drop off the truck for 600.00. I filed a complaint with the BBB and Bart the GM finally responded with a "courtesy off the GPS price." He pretty much called my fiancé and I liars after such a large purchase obviously this dealership is more concerned about their money and not the consumer! read more

I wish there was less than one star. We ended up buying 2 used vehicles from this dealership. One for my teenage son and one for my husband who doesn't use his car a lot so a new one is not needed. Two days after we brought them home, my husbands check engine light came on, he called the dealer and said that it was sold 'as is' so they will not look into it but is willing to make an appointment for us to bring it in. The headlights for my sons car didn't work and it has been less than 6 weeks and we had to get his car towed, just found out that it needs a new engine, which would cost twice the amount of what we paid for the car. Buyer Beware.....they will do anything to get you in a car, but not willing back up their products. Very disappointed in this company and they will not get any more business from us again. And to think I was looking at buying a brand new jeep in the next year or so. read more
