Amazing service, extremely friendly and welcoming. A very cozy yet chic place to just have tea and bread or a full traditional Irish meal. Had a delicious breakfast here on our first day in Dublin. We live in NYC and are spoiled by delicious food everywhere. Hatch was up to par and delighted us from the moment we walked in with the delicious looking pastries, friendly staff, and cute ambience. The food topped it off. I had a delicious brisket blaa and everyone in my family enjoyed what they had as well (lots of the skillet breakfasts, the Irish stew, and more). This was my second visit here, I hadn't been in over a year, and found the service and vibe the same, quickly recalling why I hadn't been back after my initial visit. You're greeted with a busy kitchen spilling out into the cafe and are ushered (and not in a friendly manner) into a side corridor to wait for a table. A room behind this counter was mysteriously full of empty tables but we were told we were not allowed a table in there. When we were squeezed into a table by the restaurant manager our menus sat on our tables for 10 mins before our orders were taken, waitress was brisk with us and it took a further 20-25 minutes for our food to arrive. For the amount of staff floating around the kitchen it was a little curious to note how long it took to cook some eggs and pre-prepared fishcakes The veggie fry itself was fine, presentation was good but a little messy to eat. My friend commented that her fishcakes were grand but mostly made up of potato, it was advertised as a main but the modest sizes cake sitting on top of a plate of "salad" - ie, rocket from the packet - was €14.50! - presumably charging that amount justified it as a main! The setting of this cafe is attractive, but I found the the staff weren't welcoming, which jars with the friendliness of the Little Museum staff above. Its expensive too and service was slow. It wouldn't be top of my list to recommend to someone, plenty of nicer cafes on nearby Dawson st, which offer better value. read more

Just visited Hatch and Sons from the Little Museum of Dublin as we were recommended to go there and offered a discount. We walked in and were led to a table and not supplied with cutlery. The service was unfortunate. We were left waiting to order for too long. However once we did get the chance to order, we were informed that firstly, they had none of the cakes we requested, and then told us that their coffee machine was not working upon our coffee order. We promptly left as we were unhappy. And went on to have a fabulous cafe experience in The Parlour of Vaults.Live, an incredible new visitor attraction just off Thomas Street. read more

We came here recently for lunch due to good reviews, and it basement level under the Little Museum of Dublin. It has a small but cute outdoor seating area, where we sat on a beautiful morning. We ordered a blaa bacon sandwich with beer, and a scone with Irish butter/jam and iced earl grey tea. Out waiter was efficient and polite, busily working all by himself. We enjoyed the fresh food very much and would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent place to eat along St. Stephen's Green. read more

I have only had breakfast and it was good. Two mornings in a row. I will say breakfast isn't hard to make which means you have a lot if room for error. Such yummy twice cooked eggs! Got a pot of coffee as well and it was lovely. We were able to sit outside in the sunshine, which was nice considering how warm it is inside (which I think is because they food prep right in the room you eat). My family and I started our day @ Hatch and Sons. We had a lovely breakfast there, absolutely delicious! Our waiter was attentive and polite. Our breakfast of eggs, sausage, and bacon was served in a cast iron pan, coffee was brought to our table in two pots and was good! We also had brown bread accompanied with butter which was absolutely delicious, so much so that I bought a loaf to bring home! I was here with my cousin who was home from America for lunch in July. She ordered the Smoked Fish Board and I ordered the Smoked Mackerel, Roasted Root Vegetables with Mustard dressing. Her Fish Board came with an enormous amount of fish, some cream cheese and gorgeous to die for irish brown bread. My salad was so tasty, fresh and satisfying. This place really is a showcase of REAL irish food. I'm a bit hesitant to say that because I don't want my favourite place to be overrun and too packed for me to eat here! read more

What a gem! Three friends and I came here during our short stay in Dublin, looking for an authentic Irish breakfast. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we didn't have to wait for a table. Fresh and relaxing atmosphere and feels like you're in a giant, welcoming bright kitchen. The eggs, bacon, sausage and tomato come in one frying pan with a side of soft brown bread. We also got the smoked fish plate with salmon and mackerel, which was exactly what I needed after a night of Irish drinking. Don't even get me started on how great the coffee was- it came in an antique silver pot and I had about 5 cups. A few years ago I came to Hatch & Sons on a recommendation from a friend. I left thinking it was overpriced and mediocre with unfriendly staff. Last year one of my friends wanted to try it again so I said hey, I'll give it a second chance, it's been a long time. Our breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive after ordering. My dish was served in a cast iron skillet which was brushed against my wrist and side of my hand as it was placed down in front of me. I made an audible noise of discomfort, the waiter walked away and said nothing. He didn't even warn me that my plate was hot. I got a second degree burn that took months to heal. To add insult to injury, they wouldn't let our table of 10 people split the check. Will never return. Plus, honestly? Their food isn't great. So many amazing brunch spots in Dublin, you're doing yourself a disservice by dining here. read more

This place is WAY too overrated. The two stars are only because the coffee was good (and they had almond milk.) honestly the worst breakfast I ate in Dublin. The twice baked eggs were plasticy and way too over cooked. The meat that my friend had was so greasy. The mushrooms in my vegetarian version was good. The soda bread was not even warm. The scone was average at best. The butter and jam were good but everything else was not. They did not even give us water until we asked 3 (!!!) times! Horrible service. Ok food. Walked past this cute place and went for lunch with husband and daughter. Had amazing chicken tarragon and my daughter (age 6) had a sausage sandwich which seems to cater for all tastes. Servers super friendly. I love how you can walk past it and not even notice it. You have to walk down a small flight of stairs, but once you're in there you are immediately hit with such a homey feel. There is a little island where they have tons of breads and pastries, and it looks like I'm back at my mom's kitchen. Breakfast is superb. Slightly small, but jam packed with flavor.
