I can't imagine how hard it is to wait for the service not provided by this company if you needed to get to the doctor or a job. Rhinelander needs a dependable transport system. There were no rental cars available, and I was still miles and miles away from my final destination. There was a hotel room available somewhere in Rhinelander, but I couldn't get to it if I wanted to. I searched the depths of the internet to try to find a solution. I found an article... a feature piece in a local newspaper - about the only Uber driver in Rhinelander. "I'm screwed," I thought to myself. I dialed every Rhinelander taxi company that I could find on the internet. Most of the phone lines were out of service, or they were just closed and couldn't help me. "This is not good," I said out loud, to myself. I called the only person I knew from the area and they suggested hitchhiking. "I'm not doing that. That's a hard pass from me, dog." "People are friendly around here, you'll have no problem!" was the reply. The problem was, I thought that I was out of options. So I did the logical thing. I systematically asked everybody getting off the same plane as me if they were headed to the same area I was, and if they'd help a fella out with a ride. A lot of weird looks. I mean, I've never seen people look at me with so much skepticism. I'm not sure if it was my pink shirt or my overly bright smile at midnight, but I got a whole lot of no's, and they came really fast. As every inch of hope drained from my body, one very sweet old lady offered to have me spend the night in a spare bedroom at her lake house before trying to find my way in the morning. This was a nice offer, but it felt a little weird. I did not take her up on the offer, but she did dive into her wallet and pull out a card for Eagle River Taxi. "Honey, I called these guys 2 years ago and they were very helpful. At least I think it was two years ago. Good luck." So I dialed. And waited. And then the voice of an angel crackled through the other end of the phone. That angel? That angel was Kurt, the dispatcher. Our exchange went something like this: "Kurt, I can't thank you enough." Kurt - laughing - said, "We're a taxi company, this is literally what we do!" The delivery made me laugh really hard, and a special relationship was born. Kurt dispatched the very friendly, well-bearded Paul. Paul and I traded jokes and stories the entire ride up. The service was excellent, and I booked two more sizable rides over the next few days. I would recommend Eagle River Taxi to anyone and everyone. Heroes. Total heroes.

So All American Taxi my post was deleted on Facebook…read more I have a resident and I work at a group home and the resident does have speech issues. So often times I will clarify for the resident what they are trying to say but I do have the resident try to communicate themselves. Today at 12:12 p.m. my resident was calling for a taxi and we set the first one up earlier but we had to set the second one up for when she was leaving her appointment. I had taken the phone and I was speaking for her and we were trying to get her ride set up back from her appointment. The person on the phone was so rude when trying to set up the rides and came across very snotty. I was trying to set up a ride back and the person declined to do it, I explained that the resident had speech issues and that it's easier to do it when I'm here. Her snotty remark was "then she'll have to deal with it then". I asked the woman to take note so that I could make sure the resident could get back. After that I said I really would prefer my resident did not use them for a taxi service because each time I have called I have always gotten someone rude. And I'm a pretty nice person so if I'm complaining there's a problem. Anyway I called back to speak to a supervisor and apparently the person that I had talked to initially was a supervisor at least according to her. Now I was issuing a complaint and I wanted it dealt with and I explained the resident has a hard time speaking and we need a way to set this up and the woman got very firm with me and was speaking over me and took a nasty tone. So I spoke over her and asked her not to do that and she accused me of yelling at her which I was not doing. I explained where I wasn't yelling at her but I was being firm because she was being rude and speaking over me. Whoever this person is has horrible customer service skills, before working in a group home I worked in customer service for over 20 years. This person needs to be retrained or let go and I would prefer retrained.
