Wonderful food, tea, and staff. It's in an amazing historic building, which I highly recommend exploring.

Deli Café on Meer Street is in a good location, close to Shakespeare's Birthplace in the town…read morecentre of Stratford-upon-Avon. From the outside, the cafe appeared fairly pretty, in a nice building in the historic town centre, and they had gluten-free offerings, but it appeared to be more of a greasy spoon cafe than I first believed. The menu selection is pretty good, and they have gluten-free options, I was a little confused at first as the menu was marked "GFA" which would symbolise that the dish originally was not gluten-free but would have to be modified. and even after speaking to my server, I didn't have much of an idea what that modification was. While my server was friendly, her knowledge of menu items could have been improved. The selection of drinks could be better, the only fruit juice available was from concentrate, the orange juice I ordered was not fresh and just tasted really bitter and unpleasant. I ordered the gluten-free breakfast, I was impressed when my food arrived to notice it was served with gluten-free toast and sausage, and more importantly, it wasn't seeded bread! I did find it odd how they served a singular slice of toast on a separate plate though. I wasn't too pleased with the quality of my food. My egg was fried, despite asking for poached, and it was a little undercooked for my liking, while I found the bacon to be a little hard and fatty. The tomatoes were canned and not the fresh grilled tomatoes which I prefer. I also found the sausage to be very meaty and not have enough flavour. The beans were good, but being served in a small separate pot and having more of them would have been better again. The wait for food also seemed to take a significant amount of time, understandably they were busy with customers ordering breakfast and lunch items, but still, it seemed like an unreasonable amount of time as I only wanted a quick breakfast before ending my trip in Stratford Upon Avon. Some potential for sure, gluten-free offerings, and friendly staff, but a lot of cons. I probably wouldn't return here in their current state. 2*

We came in for a late breakfast, it was not busy at all, but the staff seemed completely overwhelmed. The serving staff were 2 young men and they truly didn't know what they were doing. We ordered croissants, a cheese omelette, juice and cappuccinos. The juice was the only thing edible. The croissants were under baked and "doughy" in the middle. The omelette was also undercooked- the cheese was not melted at all and not even warm all the way through. Don't even get me started on the cappuccinos! Please avoid this place as there are plenty of lovely cafes in Stratford-upon-Avon to visit.

A great gastropub - where "gastro" means quality rather than snobbery, and "pub" means you can…read morestill have a raucous good time (we were there on a Friday night, and it did get loud!). We were seated in the dining room at the back. My eye was immediately drawn to the menu's chicken wing section. Six options, first was salted caramel, the other five were... not salted caramel! Why read further when you have the option of sugar and chicken fat? The wings were incredible - perfectly crunchy, caramelised skin with juicy flesh underneath. Not at all cloying, the dish had a kind of honeyed warmth that was just right. The only downside is you'll need metal toothpicks to pry the bits of honeycomb from your teeth. For the main, I had the 12oz ribeye, triple cooked chips, and bone marrow sauce. The steak was as close to perfect as I've ever had - every bite a luscious morsel of flavour. So good, I was initially unsure what to do with the sauce, as I didn't want to dilute the flavour of the steak. One option was drinking it directly from the jug, the other was pouring it on the chips - I decided on the latter, even though it meant sacrificing the triple-cooked crispiness in a sea of meaty flavour. The agglomeration of kale on the outskirts of the ribeye was shockingly tasty, buttery and flavourful - first time in my life I can honestly say I enjoyed kale. The Vanilla and Orange shortbread ice cream sandwich felt like a second dessert considering the caramel starter. The shortbread stood out with its delicate sandy crunch, perfect alongside the ice cream and chocolate mousse. There was so much hazelnut crumb, I felt like I needed a dustpan and brush - like when you make a mess cleaning your toaster. So the dessert was great, but at the end I was let down by the texture of the plate which didn't lend itself to being scraped with a metal spoon - unless you enjoy the sound of a plate screaming at you in bloody agony as you try to enjoy the last drops of ice cream.

This was a charming and well appointed pub in a beautiful town. We were driving through and stopped…read morefor a pint, only to find ourselves enjoying dinner. The pork belly lollipops and salted carmel wings were our favorite! We also admired amazing chips (fries) and ordered a second bowl. The happy hour was well priced and the beer selections were great. As an American we don't do wings anywhere near as nice as these! I am ruined!
