Fantastic massages in Pleasant Hill :D I found Hattha via ClassPass and am so glad I tried them out. Absolutely adding them to my list of go-to spas. Upon checking in, the staff welcomes you with a questionnaire and a foot bath (?!). The facilities are clean and tidy. After a 5-min soak, you're provided slippers and escorted to the treatment room. I've had the Signature massages here before-- the best. It feels like a combination of Swedish, Thai, back walking, acupressure, and hot stone. Everything you could want. Their oils are delicately scented and leave my skin super soft. And they focus heavily on your preferred areas, while still leaving enough time to massage the rest of your body. I've run into places that either disregard your questionnaire entirely or focus solely on your preferrred areas; Hattha didn't have this issue. They seem to strike the perfect balance. The massage therapists are courteous and professional. And STRONG...! They don't shy away from applying pressure or working out difficult knots. I always return home so relaxed afterwards. I want to support this place because you can tell it's a small business whose location is not ideal. Its entrance is hidden upstairs on the 2nd floor of a shopping retail building. Sometimes it is difficult for me to get a hold of them to get an appointment but I feel like scheduling online was best and if they missed my call they'd text me back. I'm a frequent massage customer due to all my aches and pains and I prefer Thai massages the most. I usually drive all the way to walnut creek but so happy to have this place close by! I'm so glad I found this place. I've never gotten a thai massage before, and this definitely did not disappoint. I occasionally get migraines accompanied by occipital neuralgia and I know nerve inflammation is largely part of it so I decided to try a more intense massage which was a great decision. Massage: I walked into the suite greeted by the receptionist, then was quickly given the intake form to fill out. They brought out a wooden basin to soak my feet in hot water while I was filling it out. My feet were dried off, I was given slippers, and was shown to the massage room. I chose the Signature Thai Massage which I really needed. The back walking was intense (again, it was my first time but I really enjoyed it!), and the accupressure massages + balm and stretches were my absolute favorite. My masseuse was Anna and she was so lovely. She managed to crack my back during some leg stretches which was SO NICE because I'm never able to crack my own back. I added on an indian head massage (because of my migraine and nerve inflammation in my neck). Cost: Very affordable and worth the price. I also liked how I could book the same day and be accomodated so quickly. Hygiene/Facility: The spa is a suite, located in the 2nd floor of a shopping plaza. It's quiet when you walk inside the hallway which makes it a peaceful transition when walking outside back into the noisy world. The spa itself is small, quaint, clean, and has a refreshments table with tea, coffee, and snacks. They have 3 massage rooms (I believe, or more?) which have double beds, but they're very spacious inside and have ample room to place your belongings + move around if you're doing a couples massage. Excellent deep tissue -- one of the few places that actually delivers I've been here twice now and both visits have been really good. I usually ask for deep tissue at other spots and walk out feeling like they barely went past the surface. Here they actually work the tissue. They use elbows, feet, and whatever else is needed to get in there properly. I can only speak to the deep tissue so far -- it was excellent -- but I'll try other modalities next time. The welcome is thoughtful. You fill out a short form, they have a foot soak, and they give you slippers. I asked for CBD oil and it was a nice addition. I finally had the chance to visit yesterday and had a great experience overall. I booked the 60-minute Thai Signature Massage and took advantage of the 15% anniversary sale in March. My masseuse, Molly, was excellent and I highly recommend her. I didn't realize the entrance was upstairs through a door and initially circled the furniture store a few times before spotting the sign outside. Once I arrived (a few minutes late), I was warmly greeted and given a nice foot soak while waiting for my room. The treatment areas are separated by curtains rather than private rooms, so it's not the quietest environment--you can hear customers checking out, which was a bit distracting. Because of that setup, I'm knocking off one star. That said, the massage itself was fantastic. Molly used the perfect amount of pressure and incorporated great stretches. I also appreciated that she gave the full 60 minutes even though I arrived slightly late--some places cut time, but that wasn't the case here. I had the combo massage at Hattha Thai Massage and it was excellent. The pressure was absolutely perfect; strong enough to really work through tight areas but never uncomfortable. She checked in consistently to make sure the pressure was right, which I really appreciated. There were a few light "cracks" during the stretching, but nothing painful; it actually felt like relief and helped release a lot of tension. Anna is/was amazing So I thought to write a new review for this but decided that the text I sent to my husband after was all I would want to say (screenshot included). Context, I came right after a hot yoga class at Align Yoga across the street (which I also love). Here's the text: "OMG. And after that Bikram class. Seriously I feel so relaxed. I'm used to the usual deep tissue massage so I thought that was good enough to work out all of my knots and tightness from sitting at my desk job for 7-8 hours a day. I've gone to Hattah Thai Massage a couple times now. The first massage I got was a two hour hattah thai massage and it was AMAZING! I thought maybe two hours was too long, but I enjoyed every minute. I recommend booking 60 minutes for the body and adding 15 minutes for a focused foot massage 60 minutes alone just isn't enough to cover everything. The foot massage was honestly the best I've had in the U.S. My only suggestion would be for the therapist to pay closer attention to the specific areas marked on the form. I have a 14 year old back surgery and 13 years of it was constant physical therapy. I also work on my computer 12-16 hours a day, silicon valley style. Physical therapist told me to find a good masseuse because my neck and shoulders were too jacked for his fingers. Always hard to find a good massage place, LOTS of variables. Even if I find a legit one, a lot of these places are more about comfort then REALLY getting in there and unfucking some muscles. I was a bit skeptical when I went in, but god dang, Alyn at least know exactly what they were doing. I listened to an audio book for an hour while she untangled 20 years of being a computer programmer and spine patient. Obviously I asked for this, a lot, so it's possible their other massages focusing on comfort could be just as good, but she made the same tut-tutting noises following my broken muscles as my physical therapist of twelve years so I can guarantee they got at least one person who knows their anatomy and physiotherapy back and forward. They also said a great deal of their patients are like me, office jockeys who have back/neck/shoulder pain from sitting at a computer all day. And I hadn't felt that loose and good in years. I came here serendipitously while having lunch at Melo's, I saw a sign for Thai massage. I got the 1 hour office syndrome treatment. It started with a nice relaxing foot bath, then they lead me to a very clean and relaxing room, where the therapist proceeded to twist me into a pretzel and ironed out all the knots in my neck and shoulders. If you've never had a Thai massage--it's like a mix of deep tissue massage and chiropractor. It's extremely therapeutic. The best part for me was leaving the place being pain free for a week...but my office job will cause me more stress, so I am glad this place is here to treat my aching muscles, and pain.
