I've been to their locations in Nashville plenty of times. Instantly became a fan. If you only knew how excited I was to find out that they would be opening up one right here in Chicago. I'm glad to say the delicious food and the great customer service has remained consistent. The staff here was awesome. Very friendly and welcoming. We ordered a dark quarter of a Medium, a Hot and a Damn Hot! I will admit the damn hot was pretty spicy and would order a hot next time. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Very tender and juicy, and despite the heat still very flavorful. Side are also delicious here. We got fries, pimento Mac and cheese and my side of theirs, the bacon cheddar grits. All very delicious. We love their banana pudding so much that we had to order two of them. One wouldn't have been enough! Can't wait to come back here very soon. I will admit though, and it sucks for them, but since we have one here in Chicago now, I will have to find another hot chicken place to visit while I'm in Nashville. read more

The quality of the food here is outstanding. There are several choices for your chicken. Do you want a sandwich, do you want fingers, do you want it grilled or breaded? I like that they have sauces and sealed individual containers. They have Coke products, tea, and boozy drinks. You place your order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Upon placing the order they give you your drink cup so you can help yourself with a non-alcoholic drinks. Inside seating is nice. I prefer the outdoor patio that has a view of Wrigley field. The only drawback is the restaurant is located right next to Wrigley Field and it is super busy and difficult or pricey to find parking. read more

Look I know it's a chain but it's the first in Chicago before that you have to travel to Tennessee and they're basically in Wrigley field. Kudos to the staff(Monty) for informing us it's gonna be another 12 minutes for the fresh batch of chicken they're frying. Then Monty comes out again about 10 minutes later and says he just refunded us for the wait. The foods on them- holy moly that's never happened to me before !! The chicken was incredibly juicy. It's the star of the show and deservedly so. There's good heat to it, but less heat than I remember when visiting the original in Nashville. The chicken is very lightly breaded but they got a really good crunch and texture to the breading. Big fan of the chicken - juicy and flavorful. Oh, and the chicken sandwich is overpriced. The tenders are a way better value. The mac and cheese as a side was disappointing, it didn't have a strong enough flavor for me and the noodles kinda fell apart a bit. The waffles as a side are absolutely the way to go. The fries are good too but the waffles with a bit of caramelized sugar in them and just a light dusting of powdered sugar are great. The desserts are definitely not as good as they are at the original. I remember eating the peach cobbler at the original and wondering if I should go back for another one right off the bat. These desserts felt very centrally processed, flavorless, frozen-to-thawed, and just weren't good. The chicken itself is five stars. We came to Hattie B's because people kept telling us it was the best hot chicken in Chicago, and honestly... yeah I get it now. We went on a Saturday afternoon and I thought it was gonna be way crazier, but it was actually pretty easy getting in. Still busy though. The second we walked in the smell hit me right away. Fried chicken, spices, everything smelled crazy good. The staff was super nice too. I asked for recommendations and they definitely didn't steer me wrong. I got the mild fried chicken sandwich with mac and cheese on the side and honey mustard. First bite completely got me. The chicken was insanely juicy and tender, like you barely even had to chew it. The breading had that perfect crunch without falling apart everywhere. The mild seasoning had this buttery peppery flavor that slowly built up instead of punching you in the face. Then I dipped it in the honey mustard and it somehow got even better. Sweet, tangy, little kick from the chicken... ridiculous combo honestly. Now, the mac and cheese surprise me too. That might legit be one of the best ones I've had. It was super creamy and every bite tasted cheesy. I kept stealing bites between sandwich bites. Definitely coming back. As someone who has had Hattie B's in Nashville, the expectations were high...and glad to say it didn't disappoint! We went on a Sunday afternoon when there wasn't a Cub's game, which I am sure made the experience more enjoyable. It wasn't super busy, and the food came out fast. The staff was friendly and helpful in choosing an additional side sauce to try. I got a tender kid's meal with fries -- the portion was great, as the tender was more of a filet size in my opinion! I got the sweet and smoky dry rub, fries, and a side of ranch and the comeback sauce. The comeback sauce was recommended by the front staff and it was a yummy addition. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and not spicy - which was what I wanted today. The fries were so crispy and really well seasoned, made even better dipped in the comeback sauce. The pickles (dill, not sweet, thank goodness) were 10/10...could've eaten a whole jar! For beverages, there is a self serve area with soda (coke products), house tea, and house lemonade. The ice is the best kind of pebble ice and there were pre-sliced lemons available. The interior is very colorful, with LED signs as a main attraction. It was a nice day, so the doors/walls were open facing Wrigley field. There is an outdoor area to eat with picnic tables and umbrellas. I can see this spot being super popular stop on a summer Cub's game afternoon. Overall, it was a good experience and the food was delicious. Hattie B's has made it to Chi! This is a huge win as I was a fan trying it in Nashville. The location is a bit hard to get to if you're going just for them, parking is very expensive and there is no street parking that is not permitted. But if you're here for another reason, absolutely stop by. I ordered the mild sandwich with a side of pimento cheese mac and cheese. I appreciate that you can choose from a variety of sides on their menu instead of automatically getting fries. The staff there all seemed friendly and my food came quickly. Was walking by Hattie B's chicken on a Sunday after the 2026 Chicago Pride Parade. It was an electric atmosphere because of the day. I lucked up and had virtually no wait. The order taker was friendly, efficient and patient. I ordered 3 boneless tenders with the sweet smoky rub (they are large), waffles and coleslaw. The tenders arrived hot and moist with my selected honey mustard and honey butter and syrup for the waffles. The waffles had a nice light crunch but really tasty and soft inside. Eating on the patio was nice with Wrigley Field's Gallagher Way behind me and the music of the Brickhouse Tavern pumping. This was a nice end to a fantastic Sunday. The food tasted pretty decent, and the presentation on it looked very good. It reminds me of a few other popular chicken tender spots nearby. I enjoyed the seasoned crispy fries with the honey mustard and ketchup; additionally, I got the "jumbo" tenders, and they needed to be a little spicier even though I got medium. I will say that the tenders weren't as flavorful and big as I thought they would be. The service was great - the cashier was very nice to me and told me some recommendations and what's popular. The ambiance was also very clean and nice; I do like how it's right next to wrigley field, so you can grab a quick bite before or after the game. Overall, I'd say give it a try, but I'm not sure how it'll compete against neighboring chicken tender places. read more

I Knew this would be a solid chicken spot judging by its original birthplace, Nashville. Good quality chicken, well marinated for a juicy and tasty bite. I especially loved the sides they have here. I have been waiting for Hattie B's to finally arrive in Chicago for YEARS. I think within their first week of opening, I had my office cater lunch from here. Unfortunately, that was not a good experience, so that's why it isn't 5 stars. However, their chicken is always standout. BEST fried chicken in Chicago. I always get the medium. Hot is actually spicy. Great location if you're in the area for a Cubs game. I wasn't a fan of their desserts at first, but their banana pudding grew on me. Peach cobbler is still meh. I think they're planning to open more locations, so congratulations! read more

3.9 Stars - TL;DR Good food, Great service, Casual yet immaculate interior situated right next to wrigley. Price is a bit steep for fried chicken but wygd I guess that's just Chicago in 2026. We stopped in craving fried chicken and I left pretty happy and satisfied with our meal. We happen to come on a Cubs game day which made things livelier albeit somewhat chaotic around the Wrigleyville area. This spot is directly adjacent to the actual field butting up next to their little external "recreation" area. This can either be a pro or a con depending on if you're a baseball fan or not. I didn't factor it in at all. Service was warm and friendly, food came out very quickly and piping hot. Classic southern quarter chicken - 4.5 stars. Delicious shattering crispness to the exterior with a good amount of flavor. People are probably not coming here for the non-spicy version but this was the best thing we ordered. My only nit pic is that because it acts as a canvas for their spicy oil and seasoning, according it isn't as chock full of spices as something like my favorite spot (The Southerner in Michigan). That said, I understand how totally impractical it would be to have different batter just for the plain version. Perhaps maybe a sprinkling of finishing seasonings that don't contain any heat. Again a nit-pic, I would have this fried chicken over most in Chicago any day. Pimento Mac - 2.5 Stars. Texture of noodles was complete mush and the flavor of the cheese sauce was weirdly watery even though the actual texture was thick and creamy. It's not that it didn't have flavor, it just lacked that roundness and feel you're expecting from a cheese sauce. Kinda flat tasting with salt and thickening agents. I feel like the texture of the original may be loads better and this is something that an industrial scale simply may not work with. Hot Tenders - 3.6 Stars. White meat wasn't too dry and the "hot" was actually hot for a change. The heat is unique and driven mainly by that dry cayenne seasoning although the wings look sauced. The heat creeps up on you and lingers around for a while. They were crispy when they came out (not as crispy as the quarter) but sogged out not too long after. I wouldn't come for these, although inside a sandwich they might be perfect. Crinkle Fries - 3.8 stars. Decent crispy fries with a fluffy interior and a unique finishing salt that has a touch of heat was weirdly a bit reminiscent of Dorito powder haha not bad Def worth stopping in to try the bone in chicken, especially if you're a heat seeker. Skip the Mac and cheese and go for a side that would do well in a large batch setting that holds up over time. read more

I went with the three fried chicken tenders plate. They have multiple spice levels you can choose. I decided to play it safe with medium but think I could go up to hot. Medium still had a pretty good kick to it! It comes with a slice of bread, pickles, and a choice of side. There are a lot of side options -- fries, mac n cheese, grits, and coleslaw. I kept it safe and went with the fries and they were so yummy! For sauces I went with ranch and the nashville comeback which was tangy with a little kick. I liked it! I was walking by before Hattie B's was open, and immediately got excited. I love hot fried chicken, and was excited to try a well-established and respected chain from Nashville. Alas, the result was disappointing. On the one hand, there's bound to be some growing pains, and I did factor in some grace to allow for them. At the same time, a place is usually at its peak when it's new. Further, considering that Hattie B's is a chain with established recipes and procedures, the grace can only reach so far. I ordered a crispy sandwich, medium heat (I usually go hotter, but have learned the hard way to tread with caution), and fries as my side. The chicken within was a single tender - It's cute and works well when Dave's does it, but Dave knows to use a smaller bun. With Hattie's, it feels like I was stiffed on some meat. The tender itself also left much to be desired. It was as if they'd forgotten to apply breading at all! There was a very light crispness, but not enough to make a difference. When I brought this up to the person walking by asking how everything is, she mentioned I could request to have it "fried hard." I declined to send the food back, and want to note that "fried hard" is not an option I saw anywhere on the menu. As for the meat, it wasn't as tender as great fried chicken is... almost as though it had been spending some quality time under a lamp. When it comes to the heat, my heat tolerance remains high, though I will say it is a slow burn, and a good level of spice is noticeable. The rest of the sandwich was unremarkable. The pickles added contrast and brightness, but neither the coleslaw nor the squirt of sauce landed starring roles. As much as I hate to say it, I'd have to call this one a flop. The fries, meanwhile, had some redeeming characteristics. They were seasoned well, but not over the top, and while perhaps not fresh out of boiling oil, they were fresh and warm enough, still maintaining adequate crispness. I would like to recognize the service. The staff was doing everything in their power to keep the line moving as quickly as possible (with folks taking orders from those waiting in line on handheld devices). The food came out in a reasonable time frame, especially given how busy it was. Finally, props also to those walking around making sure we had everything we needed, and were enjoying our meals. While this was an incredible level of service for a fast-casual chicken shop, I am almost certain this will taper down as time progresses. Final Verdict: The only thing pulling me to return at this point is the idea that maybe, just maybe, a mistake caused the breading to be forgotten. Pics from their website indicate it should not be MIA, so hopefully this isn't a matter of my expectations being off. Besides wanting to give them another shot, there is no shortage of great fried chicken in the area, and Hattie B's has an uphill battle if they want a chance at the crown. read more

I went to a cubs game with a friend, afterwards, the friend wanted to check out Hattie B's, not necessarily my jam but whatever. We got grilled chicken tenders and grits. Again, not necessarily my jam, i mean they are literally chicken tenders on top of a piece of bread, not much to buzz about here and I am from the south. I saw some of the other dishes being brought out, the loaded fries seemed popular but also looked like a carb blow out. The location and pairing with the ballpark makes sense, the flow inside and out is conducive to game day festivities, the service was friendly and helpful, and the dining room was new and clean. The marketing game was strong on transit, that's how we knew it was a dining option as we were headed down to the game. We saw marketing in the CTA car, as well as on the CTA platform. It always amazes me what trends popular, but if the majority enjoy it, so be it. C'est la vie. read more
