    Fried 3 Tenders Plate

Damn good fried chicken! And the seasoning on the fries is incredible, tried a few spicy levels, the hot wasn't too hot and had great flavor. All the wings and tenders were hot, fresh, and so crispy

Wow! Great service. Cooked to order and remarkable flavor. I ordered the half chicken damn hot and let me tell you I couldn't handle the hottest and I like spice. This is definitely a must have if you are in the area one of the best chickens I've ever had.

hot chicken sandwich. get the tenders though, way better value

The chicken was incredibly juicy. It's the star of the show and deservedly so. There's good heat to it, but less heat than I remember when visiting the original in Nashville. The chicken is very lightly breaded but they got a really good crunch and texture to the breading. Big fan of the chicken - juicy and flavorful. Oh, and the chicken sandwich is overpriced. The tenders are a way better value. The mac and cheese as a side was disappointing, it didn't have a strong enough flavor for me and the noodles kinda fell apart a bit. The waffles as a side are absolutely the way to go. The fries are good too but the waffles with a bit of caramelized sugar in them and just a light dusting of powdered sugar are great. The desserts are definitely not as good as they are at the original. I remember eating the peach cobbler at the original and wondering if I should go back for another one right off the bat. These desserts felt very centrally processed, flavorless, frozen-to-thawed, and just weren't good. The chicken itself is five stars. Everything else just didn't hit the same as when I got it at the original in Nashville. But will definitely return for that chicken.

We came to Hattie B's because people kept telling us it was the best hot chicken in Chicago, and honestly... yeah I get it now. We went on a Saturday afternoon and I thought it was gonna be way crazier, but it was actually pretty easy getting in. Still busy though. The second we walked in the smell hit me right away. Fried chicken, spices, everything smelled crazy good. The staff was super nice too. I asked for recommendations and they definitely didn't steer me wrong. I got the mild fried chicken sandwich with mac and cheese on the side and honey mustard. First bite completely got me. The chicken was insanely juicy and tender, like you barely even had to chew it. The breading had that perfect crunch without falling apart everywhere. The mild seasoning had this buttery peppery flavor that slowly built up instead of punching you in the face. Then I dipped it in the honey mustard and it somehow got even better. Sweet, tangy, little kick from the chicken... ridiculous combo honestly. Now, the mac and cheese surprise me too. That might legit be one of the best ones I've had. It was super creamy and every bite tasted cheesy. I kept stealing bites between sandwich bites. Definitely coming back. This place is dangerously good.

Food was delicious. Their chicken is so juicy and flavorful. Their crispy chicken is great but their grilled chicken is underrated. Food came with a lot of fries and some extra sauce which was appreciated. They have these really good chicken skin crisps for sale too that were amazing. Service was awesome. Food came out fast and the staff were very nice. Pretty empty on a Thursday afternoon. Store is very new and clean. Cutely decorated and a lot of space of sitting. We didn't dine in but would in the future.

As someone who has had Hattie B's in Nashville, the expectations were high...and glad to say it didn't disappoint! We went on a Sunday afternoon when there wasn't a Cub's game, which I am sure made the experience more enjoyable. It wasn't super busy, and the food came out fast. The staff was friendly and helpful in choosing an additional side sauce to try. I got a tender kid's meal with fries -- the portion was great, as the tender was more of a filet size in my opinion! I got the sweet and smoky dry rub, fries, and a side of ranch and the comeback sauce. The comeback sauce was recommended by the front staff and it was a yummy addition. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and not spicy - which was what I wanted today. The fries were so crispy and really well seasoned, made even better dipped in the comeback sauce. The pickles (dill, not sweet, thank goodness) were 10/10...could've eaten a whole jar! For beverages, there is a self serve area with soda (coke products), house tea, and house lemonade. The ice is the best kind of pebble ice and there were pre-sliced lemons available. The interior is very colorful, with LED signs as a main attraction. It was a nice day, so the doors/walls were open facing Wrigley field. There is an outdoor area to eat with picnic tables and umbrellas. I can see this spot being super popular stop on a summer Cub's game afternoon. Overall, it was a good experience and the food was delicious. I'd love to come back and try the chicken and waffles!

Hattie B's has made it to Chi! This is a huge win as I was a fan trying it in Nashville. The location is a bit hard to get to if you're going just for them, parking is very expensive and there is no street parking that is not permitted. But if you're here for another reason, absolutely stop by. I ordered the mild sandwich with a side of pimento cheese mac and cheese. I appreciate that you can choose from a variety of sides on their menu instead of automatically getting fries. The staff there all seemed friendly and my food came quickly. I love the option of the indoor/outdoor seating on nice days and Cubs branded chickens! I'll be back.

3 chicken tenders, coleslaw, waffles with syrup and butter

Was walking by Hattie B's chicken on a Sunday after the 2026 Chicago Pride Parade. It was an electric atmosphere because of the day. I lucked up and had virtually no wait. The order taker was friendly, efficient and patient. I ordered 3 boneless tenders with the sweet smoky rub (they are large), waffles and coleslaw. The tenders arrived hot and moist with my selected honey mustard and honey butter and syrup for the waffles. The waffles had a nice light crunch but really tasty and soft inside. Eating on the patio was nice with Wrigley Field's Gallagher Way behind me and the music of the Brickhouse Tavern pumping. This was a nice end to a fantastic Sunday. Will definitely be back to Hattie B's again.

Amazing staff, juicy fried chicken sandwich and crispy fries. Great place for a bit when at Wrigley and out and about.

Classic chicken sandwich, southern greens and cheese grits

I Knew this would be a solid chicken spot judging by its original birthplace, Nashville. Good quality chicken, well marinated for a juicy and tasty bite. I especially loved the sides they have here. Not many good places in Chicago to find southern comforts. I recommend the cheesy grits and southern greens. They're much healthier and tasty than French fries. I'll be back to try the dessert.

Wrigley field open door style southern chicken joint? Great place on an 80 degree day to watch the cubbies and chow on a chicken sandwich. Hattie's is superior to competitors. The staff were helpful and straightforward. Truly a fun environment to eat. Thank you Hattie B's!

So I actually lived in Nashville. Just moved here in 2023. I was shocked when they said Hattie B's was coming to the city. I had to check it out. I can say it feels like back home. It was hot and delicious. Food was great! The vibe was awesome. I'm so happy I can say the food remained true to its original home base.

Nobody's performing, everybody's happy to be there, and the staff treated us like they were glad we showed up. Start with the sweet tea. It's the real thing. The Nashville hot chicken and waffles is the move. The heat has actual flavor behind it instead of just burn, and it builds in a way that keeps you going back for another bite. Then I tried the shrimp and grits and had a small crisis about which one I liked better. Still haven't settled it. The grits were creamy, the shrimp had real seasoning, and I cleaned the plate. Fair warning: none of this food is for anyone on a diet. That's the point. Come hungry, wear the forgiving pants, and let somebody else count things for the day.

The chicken was delicious and the pancakes were out of this world. Similar to some of the other comments, it would be nice to first come in, sit down, get relax then have someone take your order when dining in. However you place your order at the front door and then can sit down. The customer service lacked tremendously from the youthful stuff(late teens/very early 20's) But I will say the most underwhelming thing about this experience was the building. Inside & out it was very primitive & just flat out old. I know they just moved from another location and looking to get their foot in the door. But hopefully a renovation is in the plans. The inside is a bit of an eye soar. Needless to say, I would come back if in the area because of the food. But I wouldn't go out of my way patronize them.

We arrived 20 minutes before our scheduled reservation, but we were seated within five minutes of arriving. The server, David, greeted us promptly when we were seated. He mentioned that if you're ordering appetizers, they should be ordered with the main meal. While we looked over the menu, water was offered. I ordered Blackened Catfish over brown rice and carrots. The catfish was tender and perfectly seasoned. My brother had grilled flounder with creamed corn. Like the catfish, the trout was tender and well-seasoned. The corn had a slight sweetness. Roger had Short ribs and mashed potatoes. The ribs were tender and did not need any sauce because they were seasoned well. We also ordered a side dish of Macaroni and Cheese. It was delicious! A mixture of Gouda cheese and other cheeses. Very creamy! The top layer cheese was baked perfectly! If you know, you know, it's all about the top layer of cheese The APPETIZERS: The Gumbo was spicy but delicious! You only taste the spice at the end . It's not overly spicy; it's just right. The fried chicken gizzards were tender but could have used a bit more seasoning. It was served over brown rice and gravy. If I'm not mistaken, there were maybe 8 or 9 gizzards. The fried green tomatoes were perfect! From the seasoning to the grilled shrimp on top. Oh yes, grilled shrimp with this delicious sauce drizzled over the tomatoes. 3 or 4 shrimp. They were delicious! I've never had fried green tomatoes served w/grilled shrimp--definitely a must-try if you've never had it. For dessert, pineapple upside-down cake with coconut cream on the side. It was soooo good! They could have removed the coconut cream, as it was not needed. And it was a shareable portion for 2-3 ppl. There were other desserts, such as Blueberry Cobbler, Key Lime Pie, and Vanilla Ice Cream. If you're in the Hyde Park area, give these folks a try Oh yeah, the Manager, Louis, was walking the floor. I spoke with him briefly From what I observed, it's a very casual dress code--jeans, shorts, blazers, etc. And I loved the quotes on the outside window of those who were killed, like George Floyd and Sandra Bland. One person in our group has dairy restrictions, and the restaurant did a great job accommodating her. All of the dishes that included dairy was served deconstructed so she could enjoy the components that worked for her dietary needs without compromising the rest of the dishes. For our mains, we ordered the beef short ribs with creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and gravy, along with the half chicken with baby squash and green beans. For our additional sides, we had the cornbread with honey butter, collard greens with smoked turkey, and creamy mac and cheese. Everything was good, and everyone enjoyed their meals. You can really taste that home-cooking influence in the food. The flavors are comforting and familiar, but you're still getting that elevated restaurant experience. The half chicken was the standout dish of the night. It was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Everyone at the table agreed that it was our favorite. Our least favorite was the short rib. It was tender and cooked well, but we all felt like it was missing something. We couldn't quite put our finger on what it needed. After looking at photos from other diners, I noticed the gravy was incorporated in the rib. That may have been the missing element that brought the short rib together and given it that extra layer of flavor we were looking for. Overall, another good experience. I look forward to returning to try a few more things from the menu.

Anyway I got the Gumbo and by golly it was delicious and had a nice kick to it. I also got the shrimp po-boy it was okay but I asked for onions and there were none. I will come back for breakfast/brunch and try again though! It's nestled at the bottom of a beautiful condo building and parking on the street.

We did the great tasting experience where you get 3 entrees, drinks, wine and dessert. It was definitely worth the money. But if you share the meal experience you have to also buy an entree (fyi). The waitress was nice and patient. Even though we had a reservation it took a while to be seated when there were open tables but there were only two waitress for the restaurant. The food takes a minute to come out after being ordered (45 mins) but it was piping hot and fresh. The ambiance was nice. They were playing old school Luther so it was vibe. Bc this food was so good , I'll give it a 5 but if you go be patient. It'll be worth the wait

I was very disappointed in the taste of the center piece lobster, though. My date got something else. I don't know how, but this place made Brussels sprouts taste good for a bit. Service was great. I like to be left alone for the most part, and they did just that. My waiter would pop in and out at the perfect moment. I would give the ambiance a 9/10. I loved the hints gold and the dark teal(?) wallpaper

I had the pineapple sweet potatoes & Mac & cheese for sides & yummmmm. The cornbread was also very good! It's not really a dine in restaurant although you can sit inside & eat. It was chill. The service was cool, they were working hard but still friendly. It's a little pricey but the amount of food makes up for it. I had enough to eat the next day & share lol.

The fish is fried well and the hot honey sauce was a good addition, but not amazing. Just regular hot sauce is good for the fish. The green beans are seasoned well and not spicy in my opinion. The mac and cheese was decent. Not award winning, but good. The pineapple sweet potatoes were fantastic! We ordered an extra side, but they forgot to include it. The initial delivery took so long that we didn't bother to ask for them to send it. The corn muffin was also really good! If you're visiting Chicago, I wouldn't say that this is a must-visit place. Check it out, if you have time!
