The verdict is still yet to be determined about Parson's Chicken & Fish for me. I like it but can't say that I love it just yet. I came here over a year ago and this is my 2nd time. This time around I ordered the fish fry, chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes and a side of fries. The mashed potatoes were really good, not gonna lie. The fish fry was good, nothing really epic though that makes it different from other fish n chips that I've had in the past. Hubby got the chicken nuggets - I'm not really a nugget person to begin with but it was decent. I should have gotten the chicken wings but for some reason I let the hubby talk me out of it since he was already getting the nuggets and we normally like to try each others food. Service was friendly and our waiter came to check up on us frequently. Restaurant is nice and chill and they serve alcohol, which is a plus.

Great crunch on the chicken. It wasn't too crowded so we didn't have to wait long to order or to get our food after that. It was a weekday lunch though, and I imagine the place is bombed in the evenings and especially on the weekend. The one thing that was really not to our liking (and luckily we figured it out before we ordered) was the Nashville hot sauce - it is basically Tapatio hot sauce. It is not true Nashville hot, maybe they've never been to Nashville or had Nashville hot chicken or maybe they're just being lazy or just being cute making it their "own way." The bottom line is if you don't really like Tapatio hot sauce because of the cumin, you should definitely NOT order the Nashville hot chicken here. We asked the server if the sauce in the bottles on the table was the same as the one used on the Nashville hot and he said yes, and we told him we'd preferred not to have that he said "it definitely turns it into a Mexican flavor profile." The chicken sandwich was the bomb, great flavor, crunch, and combination of lettuce and tomato, sauce, nice bun, and the chicken. The quarter chicken white meat seemed like more than a quarter chicken because they cut it just like KFC does with 10 pieces per chicken, not the standard 8 pieces. We would probably return. The salads going by looked great much bigger than anticipated for the price.

I stopped by Parson's Chicken & Fish after hearing a few friends talk about it, and I finally get the hype. I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. The chicken thigh was fried perfectly super juicy and tender inside, with this nice crisp on the outside. It was tossed in their Nashville hot sauce, which had just the right amount of heat for me. Spicy, but not the kind of spicy that ruins your taste buds. The coleslaw added this crunchy, cool contrast, and the American cheese melted just right. I don't usually order cheese on a spicy chicken sandwich, but this one worked. The pickles were super tangy, which I loved, and the garlic mayo and Parson's red hot sauce added even more layers of flavor. All of it came together on a soft brioche bun that held up without getting soggy. The vibe at Parson's was super chill, kind of retro picnic-style with a mix of families, couples, and dogs. Service was friendly, but not overly attentive, which was fine by me. I waited about 20 minutes for my food, which felt reasonable since it was a bit busy.

The food was OK, but the service wasn't the best. I never turn down a chance to hang out on a patio during the summer, but ordering at the bar wasn't straightforward at all. One side was only accepting drink orders, while the other was for food orders which would have been fine if there was some signage indicating this instead of telling me to join another line after waiting 15 minutes. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which tasted flat and was fried super hard. Admittedly, I am anti cheese on my chicken sandwiches.

Ate here on 5-3-26 . My bill was 171 and change . I noticed they charged me to put Beer in a glass . 3$ each beer . Waitress didn't explain the charge not does it say anywhere on menu given . Total BS charge . Not fn cool . Where in the hell does an establishment charge to put a beer in a glass. Really .

Nothing like a wrap with old browning lettuce and dry chicken nuggets. This place used to be good..

We have eaten here dozens of times and we've never had a bad meal. This was our first time eating inside, we usually only come on sunny days to eat on the patio, so a different vibe but just as nice. We ate hush puppies, the pimento cheese, fries and an awesome fish sandwich. We drank the lovely negroni slushie. Our server was attentive and friendly, the place was full of families with young children but luckily none of them was screaming or running around the restaurant. Highly recommended!

Good ole Parson's! This is my favorite location due to their humongous patio (it's spacious inside as well). I like the food here. Yes, they do have good fried chicken (what they're known for). Is it the best in Chicago? Not in my opinion, but it's still good. Personally their fish & chips are underrated and steal the show for me. Their drinks here are okay; I think most come precrafted which isn't my favorite, but I could be wrong. Their best drink is easily the their original negroni slushy. They have some really good sauces; I think they should be like 25 or 50 cents instead of a dollar especially since it's such a small cup of it (I feel this way for any restaurant that charges a dollar or more for sauce though). The staff here is usually always friendly too! I recommend this place for some chill dinner or lunch with friends or family. Their tables outside are shared tables unless you come with a group that'll take up one whole one. They have good food, service, and it's a fun vibe here - I recommend Parson's Chicken & Fish!

I've been here a few times- the first time I got the chicken wrap and then this time got the hot chicken nuggets with a side of the potato salad. For me, the draw is always the big patio space in the back; otherwise, the food itself always falls flat and is a bit flavorless (thank goodness for the 10 different dip options).

We have stopped by a couple more times and our experience has improved! The amount of vegetarian options and extensive drink options is great. We love the service here and enjoy the outdoor seating in the back. Definitely a better experience dining in vs carey out. And can't get enough of the blueberry lavender soda!

Parsons is such an awesome spot for the summer! We brought not just our dog but our little kitty too! The service was great and attentive. I totally suggest trying one of their blended drinks and you cannot go wrong with any of their food if you're hoping for something comforting. Summer time chi wouldnt be the same without parsons

The platter was a huge portion! Lots of sauce options, and I love the pickle flavored drinks. Hush puppies were meh, but the fried shrimp and fries were good! There was a long wait for outside so we sat at the bar. The staff wasn't the friendliest but the place still had cool vibes.

Pretty good chicken won't lie. The outside space is great for a warm day. We were able to get seated within 30 minutes on a Friday evening.

Ask the Community - Parson's Chicken & Fish - Logan Square

Is the patio area dog friendly?

    Yep

I have a fish allergy and i would love to try this place. Does anyone know if they fry their fish and chicken in the same oil? Or do they fry it separately?

I would be surprised if any restaurant fries their meats separately. Some boutique place in Portlandia possibly.

Is the new patio open yet?

    Yes it is

Be sure to make your reservation in advance because you will not be seated without one due to its popularity among both locals and tourists. We come here every time we visit Chicagoat. The food is absolutely amazing. We had the following dishes: 1. Roasted Pig Face Straw fries topped with roasted pork face, a sunny egg, and a collection of magical sauces that somehow transform into pure comfort when mixed together. I don't even know exactly what's in the sauce, but I don't need to know. This dish is divine and an absolute must-order. The crispy fries, rich and tender pork that practically melts apart, silky egg yolk, and savory sauce create a dish that is indulgent, comforting, and ridiculously delicious 2. Green Beans Not featured in the photo because we ate them too fast. Enough said. Get them. 3. Goat Mousse The menu changes periodically, so this was a new dish for us. The goat mousse was creamy, rich, and surprisingly light, served with sweet jam, crumpets, crackers, pickles, and giardiniera. The contrast of sweet, tangy, creamy, crunchy, and savory flavors creates a little flavor party in your mouth. Every bite can be customized differently, which made this dish especially fun to share. 4. Pork Belly & Watermelon Perfectly cooked pork belly with a crisp exterior and rich, savory flavor, balanced beautifully by refreshing watermelon cubes and fresh greens. I don't know how healthy it is, but we aren't here for health. We're here for flavor. We're here for comfort. We're here to be punched in the soul with food that we will never forget! The sweet, juicy watermelon cuts through the richness of the pork belly and creates a combination that sounds unusual but works incredibly well. 5. Halibut with Thai Sprouts A beautifully cooked piece of halibut served with Thai sprouts, miso marcona butter, and blueberry fish sauce. Yes, blueberry fish sauce. And yes, it works. The fish was flaky, buttery, and perfectly cooked. The savory umami from the miso butter paired with the subtle sweetness and acidity from the fish sauce created a combination that was balanced, and memorable yet surprising to me. The restaurant itself has a dark, energetic atmosphere and is always packed. The tables are definitely close together, but given how popular the restaurant is, I understand why they maximize the space. Absolutely recommend coming here. Your tummies won't regret it.

For food, we ordered the prime rib french dip sandwich with fries and the turkey burger with coleslaw. The beef was super tender and not at all overcooked. I especially loved the flavorful horseradish and crusty yet chewy bread. The fries were just okay for me- I felt they could have been crispier and arrived a bit lukewarm. The turkey burger may have been one of the all around best burgers I've ever had. The meat had a perfectly crispy char while still being incredibly tender and juicy. I absolutely loved the spicy Asian-inspired slaw, which was both fresh and spicy. The side coleslaw was also excellent. The veggies were shredded super finely and soaked up the delicious slightly sweet dressing really well. Overall, we had a great visit and will 100% be back to try more of the menu!

Terrible. I am honestly not sure how people are recommending this place. I was excited to come here…read moreand had very high expectations, but unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing. Let's start from the beginning: the bone marrow. What on earth was going on? Why would you cover bone marrow with fig, bacon, and so much cilantro? Bone marrow is a delicate dish. You are supposed to taste the richness and subtle flavor of the marrow itself. The cilantro completely overpowered it, and the fig and bacon made it even worse. Chef, where did you train? This dish made no sense. Then came the agnolotti. I have no words. Just look at the photo: full of oil. I mean completely swimming in oil. Then the chitarra with seafood. Horrible. Spicy for no reason. Again, why are you trying to cover the ingredients instead of letting them speak for themselves? Also, the fish tasted frozen, not fresh. The pork belly, supposedly the signature dish, was another disappointment. Again, so much sauce that the actual flavor of the pork belly was completely lost. The staff were nice, the ambiance was okay, and the wine selection was good. But please, stop covering the taste of the food you cook. If you need to hide the ingredients under excessive sauce, spice, cilantro, oil, bacon, or sweetness, the only explanation is that the ingredients are not good enough on their own. I will not be coming back. Not even for free. Sorry. PS. Why so much bread on each dish? So much buttery horrible bread that you will trash, because it's impossible to eat all of it.

The charcuterie did not skimp out like some cheese/meat plates do.. it was a satisfying amount that we kept going back for more. The pretzel was outstanding, twisted and hot, perfectly soft and salty. To eat, I split the Gretel Griddle Burger and the Fried Chicken Sandwich with my friend because although we were there for the burger, I kept reading about the chicken sandwich being fantastic. Booyy they were not wrong!! As much as I loved the burger, the chicken sandwich was my favorite! Perfectly crispy, with this sweet and spicy glaze and the crunchy Asian pear slaw... OMG. I'm still dreaming about this! One thing we were excited about were the Elote Riblettes.. but I wouldn't order these again. I accidentally bit the whole thing and didn't realize they kept the core in, and I had to spit it out. After all the drinks apps and the chicken sandwich I was feeling so full so I couldn't finish the burger so I got it wrapped to go. My friend and I dedicated a day where we would just put our name down and however long it took we would wait haha. We drove into the city which took and hour and we put our name down and waited an hour before we were called. The weather was great so we just walked around the west loop area. We started with a half size of the green salad and a half size of the roasted bone marrow. The house salad is super refreshing. A lot of vinegar in the dressing which I personally really like. Also tasted some fennel which was an interesting flavor. The roasted bone marrow is the winner of the night. I would come back to Au Cheval for this alone. It was paired with a thick slice of Texas toast and a beef cheek marmalade and it is seriously the PERFECT balance of flavors. Fatty. Sweet. Buttery. Literally insane and this is a must order! Then came the famous burger. My friend and I each ordered a single cheeseburger with the egg and bacon added. Something to note is that the single cheeseburger actually has 2 patties and the double cheeseburger has 3 patties (3/4lbs of beef). The presentation itself is beautiful and makes you just not want to eat it haha. The burger itself is so decadent and hefty with the burger patties, cheese, egg and bacon. I'll be honest, I needed some more pickles or just something to cut all the fattiness of the burger. There were pickles in the burger and it is served with a huge pickle spear. But I still was itching for some more bitterness/acid to balance the flavors. It was so decadent, I couldn't finish it all. All in all, I would definitely come back and order the burger again and would recommend it to anyone! We ordered a side of fries which came with their garlic aioli. The fries were cooked to perfection. Super crunchy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside and piping hot! The garlic aioli is perfect and have no notes for it. We also were treated to a vanilla scoop with chocolate sauce which was the perfect cap to our meal! Our waitress was so friendly and my friend and I loved her! She was so sweet and genuine. There was a check-in stand set-up outside, where someone was taking names/phone numbers to put on the waiting list. We were quoted a 45 minute wait, and got the text to hurry back after about 30 minutes. There was a line to put your name down on the list, so we skipped that by going right in. The friendly hostess seated us in a booth, with a nice view of the kitchen where they were making the burgers in mass. The waitress explained that a single burger meant two patties (each patty is 4 oz, so basically a half pound burger), and a double meaning three. My brother and his son both ordered a double cheeseburger ($19.99 each), and I got a single with added sunny side up egg ($21.48). I wanted my wife to be able to take a bite, so asked for everything to be on the side (sauce, dill pickle slices, and grilled onion bits). We also ordered french fries ($8.99), cooked in duck fat. In the meanwhile, followed a fellow yelpers suggestion and got two Allagash Whites ($9 each) for me and my nephew. It's a really good beer that I've had many times during happy hour, and goes great with rich, greasy food. My wife got something else: the General Janes Chicken, which is their version of Korean Fried Chicken ($24.98). She enjoyed it (the coating was still crispy, and the sauce had that pronounced kochujang flavor that we like). Everything is a la carte here (except for the complementary pickle spear with burgers), so she shared in the ordered fries. Food came out together and was served hot. There is a mandatory 3.25% surcharge, and payment is taken at the table. As mentioned, service was excellent throughout. To be honest, I'm not the right person to judge a burger like this (I like it backyard style, with a lot of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles...and mayo/ketchup). But my brother and nephew are (they have tried many, many burgers all across the world, and don't like too much toppings on their burger), and they said the burger was just OK for them. I liked the frites (cooked in duck fat)...very light in color, but still crispy on the outside. However, nobody else really ate them, saying they weren't great. It's unusual for me to be the least critical after dining, but I'm sure it had something to do with the observation that I didn't have to pay for it (since it was my brother's treat).
