    Passion fruit & berry lemonade
    Kristopher L.

My friend & I had lunch here it was soooooooooooo good. 10 button and beyond. Our waiter Kendall was very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Poboy shrimp Mardi Gras Blackened RichBoy(Mmm Good) my friend ordered the Cajun fajitas on pita bread, but that MAC CHEESE tho?! Babyeeeeeeeeeeee it's A MUST try. The restaurant plays 90's and some old school music which I was moving to while eating that delish fooood, very quiet, it was just me and my friend and another few ladies. They only do reservations, no walk IN. Oh and the lemonade.... I had a mix of passion fruit and berry! Rightttttttttttttt.....lol. Please TRY. Posting pics down below. I'm planning my next trip back rn......lbvs

Stuffed Turkey Leg with Mac and Cheese and a surprise ingredient Shrimp.

On May 8, 2026, I placed an order through Grubhub from Soul Food Lounge 2. I ordered the stuffed turkey leg with mac and cheese. There was absolutely no mention of shrimp anywhere in the item description or photos on the app. I was home sick with a cold and looking forward to my meal. When the order arrived and I opened it, the turkey leg was filled with shrimp. I am highly allergic to shellfish, and this could have turned into a very serious medical emergency. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with a young man who told me the manager would call me back. About 45 minutes later, she finally did, but she showed very little concern about the situation. She said she would call me back again, but never did. Because of the cross-contamination and undisclosed ingredients, I had to throw the entire meal away and take Benadryl. Food allergies should always be taken seriously. Saying the information "used to be on the site" or "was taken down" is not an acceptable excuse when someone's health and safety are involved. The customer service was extremely disappointing, and I also had to file a claim with Grubhub to request a refund for the wasted food. A shellfish allergy is serious. Restaurants must clearly disclose shrimp and other allergens on every delivery platform and menu description. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. Zero stars.

5 stars for flavor, value, and hospitality! Soul Food Lounge in Beverly is a must-visit for anyone who loves soulful cooking and generous portions. For $69 (excluding tax & gratuity), you get three entrées and a glass of wine--red or white. It's the kind of deal that satisfies your cravings without hurting your wallet. What to order: * Red beans and rice with pound cake (don't question it--just try it!) * Risotto that's creamy, rich, and unforgettable * Honestly, everything on the menu hits The space is cozy and intimate, perfect for a night out or a small group dinner. Franchon, our hostess, made the experience even better with her warm, attentive service. Whether you're vegetarian, pescatarian, carnivore, or somewhere in between, you'll find something to love. Just make sure to arrive early--this spot fills up fast! Heads up: Parking is along Hale Ave ONLY. Do NOT park in the lot across the street--you'll be towed immediately.

During our recent visit to Chicago from Michigan, someone recommended the Soul Food Lounge. We had no idea the exquisite culinary delight that awaited us! The unique flavors, beautiful presentation of the food, the jazzy ambiance & music was 5 star. The proprietor, Tiffany, elevated the experience with her warm hospitality & joyful presence. Our waitress, Franchon was second to known! Thank you Soul Food Lounge for creating a new standard for Soul Food dining! Roger & Dorothy Lewis, East Lansing, MI

Mango Lemonade - you can tell it's freshly made. Yummy.

I had been wanting to try this Black owned establishment for quite some time as I have passed by it several times. I knew this was their second location - the original one is located on the West side. Came here on 12/13/24 to celebrate my b-day with a buddy - reservations are required and you must put a credit card down to hold the reservation. When asked on the reservation about what event you would be there for I indicated my birthday. To be fair and honest, I feel it necessary to break this review down and rate by categories. Restaurant Vibe - 4 stars - when you walk in, you are amazed by the beautiful decor inside. Very intimate and relaxing vibe - they have great soulful, jazzy music playing while dining. Restaurant Location Size - 3 stars - This restaurant is really small - has to be the smallest restaurant I've been to. We were seated by the kitchen which I personally didn't like because staff traffic was heavy in that area. Staff was standing near where we were seated because, the place is too small for them to be anywhere else so my friend and I didn't really feel like we had privacy to have conversation. With that being said, unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend for a date spot. Restaurant Venue Temperature - 1 star - COLD! I am in total agreement with Thebigdopedill M.'s review who visited the establishment 22 days before I did. Shunica R.'s review also mentioned the fact that inside was cold! I was uncomfy and so was my friend. We discovered that we were sitting right below an air vent that was blowing cold air! They had a portable heater that was on but it wasn't solving the issue. This needs to be fixed ASAP - as a customer, I shouldn't be uncomfortable when dining at an establishment in the winter. Staff - 4.5 stars - Mostly all staff were kind, friendly and helpful. Our main waiter was Isaiah who was very young and soft spoken. He was okay. The older staff made sure you were good with everything and checked on us often. Restaurant Food - 4 stars - Food is delicious with really nice sized portions. I enjoyed the gorgeously decorated lobster dish and tasted my friend's pot roast - it was tender and flavorful. This would of been given 5 stars but my food was not piping hot when I received it. After about 5 minutes, my dressing was cold. Grilled pound cake took me to another world beyond - HEAVENLY! Really enjoyed. A suggestion I would make that has been mentioned in other reviews is to either have appetizers on the menu or at least some bread on the table while waiting on your entree to come. It's odd that there aren't any starters on the menu. My opinion is this: the beautiful vibe is so nice inside but the small size of the restaurant along with heating issues - even the dinnerware just didn't seem to fit the posh and intimate vibe - the dinnerware were plain white china that looked cheap. Now I did love the gold flatware, it matched the black and gold theme inside. This isn't their first location - spend a little extra money and buy some nice dinnerware that coincides with the beautiful and decorative food presentation they give. Unfortunately, I cannot return with there being heating issues. I had to take a hot shower when I got home just to warm up and that shouldn't be. My friend let the waitstaff know it was my birthday but the only thing I was wished was a verbal "Happy Birthday". I feel there should be some improvement there as well for more of an acknowledgement like a card or free dessert.

The SoulFood Lounge 2, located in the Beverly neighborhood, on the south side of Chicago, offers a globally inspired culinary experience. Chef Quentin Love has a unique menu that blends soul food traditions with international flavors, featuring dishes like Argentinian chimichurri pot roast, Dominican coconut catfish, and Hong Kong honey shrimp. I visited with two close friends who chose the Grand Tasting option. They thoroughly enjoyed everything they tried! The dining experience here stands out compared to some other Black-owned restaurants I've visited in Chicago. What makes it unique is the "Grand Tasting" menu, where you can select three entrées and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and lemonade --all for $70. The portion sizes for each dish from the Grand Tasting were incredibly generous--much larger than I anticipated. It felt like having three full lunch-sized servings! Our drinks and food arrived at a decent time. In case you are a slow eater, they do bring the dishes out back to back. The ambiance was elevated by a musician playing piano alongside jazz music--a great touch in the background. Once the food arrived, I sampled my friends' dishes--the Japanese Teriyaki Salmon and the stuffing from the Maine Stuffed Lobster. Each bite of the salmon was bursting with incredible flavor! I wasn't too big of the fan of the stuffing flavor. It tasted sweeter than I would have preferred; making me wonder if someone added jiffy mix or some unnecessary sugar. I opted for the Dominican Coconut Catfish Mangu from my own plate. Since this was a regular entrée and not part of the Grand Tasting, it came in a full portion size. Naturally, I had leftovers for the next day--and they tasted just as amazing! The vibe at The SoulFood Lounge is fantastic--perfect for date nights or a fun outing with friends. They also have a sister location, the original spot, on Chicago's west side in the North Lawndale neighborhood. Due to the cozy seating, making reservations is highly recommended. I can't wait to return!

The Real Date Night Restaurant to Go to!! We truly loved this place, the Foods, Drinks (non-alcoholic for us), music (semi-live) Jazz and the attentive waitstaff!! It's expensive, but Truly worth the cost!!

Amazing service and even better food. Our server was attentive and warm without being overbearing. The food was thoughtfully prepared, and super flavorful! The ambiance sealed the deal. I'd highly recommend for a date night, as the live music set the perfect tone for an evening dinner. This place delivers!

Having experienced the Grand Tasting menu during Restaurant Week 2024, I decided I wanted to check out the Southside location. The menus and offerings here are different from the Westside location: at this location you get a complimentary glass of wine/bubbles or dessert with your meal. There is still the 18% gratuity added on to the bill and the $20 corkage fee for BYOB, which can only be wine or champagne. You definitely need to make a reservation as there is no space for walk-ins. This space actually looks smaller than the Westside location. The decor is mostly black, which is my favorite color. There was a violin player performing during our meal (lovely) and the staff was lovely and attentive, checking in on us. For dinner, I ordered the following: Argentinian Chimichurri Pot Roast ( herb crusted potatoes , winter vegetable medley), Bayou Blackened Shrimp Tamales (creole cream sauce, cilantro, scallions) and the New Orleans Gumbo Yakamein (Cajun fried perch, seafood savory gravy). The Argentinian Chimichurri Pot Roast and New Orleans Gumbo Yakamein were life giving. For the Grand Tasting, you get to choose three entrees, which are of a smaller size than the main entrees. Honestly if the portions were any bigger, it would be too much food. As it was, I ended up taking the gumbo home and having it the next day (highly recommend doing that). The chimichurri sauce and the flavoring of the pot roast was very complimentary. When reading the description on the menu, I wasn't totally feeling the idea of the winter veggie medley, but SFL proved me wrong. The veggies were a nice addition to the meat...no veggie was left behind. Bayou Blackened Shrimp Tamale was a disappointment for me. It is not something I would ever order again. I am not sure what the flavor palette was supposed to be, but it seemed to be lacking in flavor all together. The other issue I had with this dish was that the tamale itself was a strange texture, not like the traditional mesa dough. I am not sure what the dough was, but it didn't work for me. The New Orleans Gumbo Yakamein was so unexpected and so good! I mean the blending of gumbo with a Yakamein style soup blew my mind! Honestly I can't comment on the flavors of the dish on the day it was served. For me, eating something the next day just taste better because it seems like the flavors have time to settle. Man I had that dish the next day and it was amazing. The soft boiled egg and the fried perch held up well. I ended up cutting up the fish to add to the dish. I also cheated and added some leftover lime cilantro rice I had to it...that dish gave me chills. I finished off the meal with the grilled pound cake with ice cream, which is also at the Westside location. I love this a lot because it is not overly sweet. As Gino A wrote in his review, I wish they would take a little more time in spacing out the dishes. I went to this location with fellow Yelper Latrice A, so we were sitting at a two top table, which was not that big. I agree, the dishes are very good and should not be rushed to make room for the next dish. Despite the misstep with the tamale, SFL 2 was a wonderful experience and I will be taking The Doctor and Queen there for dinner.

Let's get right to it: The restaurant is really small, like so small that no matter where you sit, you're going to see who's coming in and going out. Nicely decorated and clean, but definitely cozy. The grand tasting is worth it but I wish it would have come with a dessert instead of lemonades and wine. I didn't need two drinks. I had the gumbo ramen dish, the seafood dressing and the pot roast. The pot roast was my favorite, though not as tender as I'd make. However the chimichurri sauce was the cherry on top! The service was standard-nothing exceptional but not bad at all. I'd come back because the food was definitely good. I think I'll try the first location next.

My wife and I were celebrating our 32nd anniversary. We wanted to try a new restaurant. It was our first time there. We weren't quite sure what to expect. But, the food surpassed our expectations. We had the brunch. It was so much food we couldn't eat all of it. It was so good! Our waiters were very attentive and patient. I highly recommend this place.
