First, I'm not affiliated with Hatwrks. My journey began a year ago. I'd been searching for a unicorn, a black felt, flat brim, rocker type hat. I searched high and low, and looked at countless youtube videos and blogs. To elaborate, I watched a myriad of videos of the British 'Unidentified Rocker' (photos on https://www.instagram.com/theunidentifiedrocker/?hl=en). It's clear to note that the British instagrammer has style and can rock a black hat. However, I always wondered what type of hat this cat was rocking. The specific brand and type was never clearly mentioned. The search continued. On April 6, 2021, after googling a few more videos and finding Hatwrks online, my search came to an end. I found my unicorn rocker hat. I phoned Hatwrks and spoke to a young male vendor. He was quite helpful and professional. I asked if he carried the Australian made Akubra Bushman (open crown) in black size 7 3/4 (62) for my semi-large head. He laughed and stated, "yes, we have a few in stock, in different colors, and they are discontinued." Moments after the phone call, I placed an order online to snag the last of the discontinued Australian Akubra Bushman hats sold in the US and Australia. On April 8, 2021, the hat arrived from TN to VA. The shipping was incredibly fast. Opening the box was like unwrapping a Christmas gift. The hat was packed incredibly well and arrived in mint condition, i.e. large box, cardboard and plastic wrapped around the hat, surrounded by loads of brown package material. The Australian Akubra Bushman (open crown) felt truly amazing and was a perfect fit. The hat was proportional to my oval face frame and large head size. I immediately shaped it various ways, i.e. open road, diamond, pinched front with c shape in back, pork belly, etc. All of the styles mentioned looked great on me and screamed, 'ROCK!' I could feel my style and charisma points going up, +10 points. I'd rock this black felt hat with Levis 510 black skinny jeans, white cotton T-shirt, John Varvatos black leather high ankle boots, black leather belt, and a black fitted leather jacket. Look, if you're searching for a open crown rocker hat with lots of style, look no further than Hatwrks. They carried the unicorn, the Akubra Bushman (open crown). They won't last due to the manufacturer discontinuing the hat. However, not to worry. Hatwrks carries a similar version, the Stetson Premier (open crown) and in comes in various colors. I enclosed a video from Kevin at JJ Hats in NY that describes the two hats, side by side. He explains the specs and describes how to shape the open crown hat to fit your preferred style. Went here to find a hat. We were greeted as soon as we walked into the store. You don't notice that very much any more. The salesman, Gage, was very attentive. Not that shove a hat in your face kind of thing. He asked what type of hat I was looking for and then showed us some. I was about to give up and then I found it. The custom hats look lazy especially compared to their high prices. Most of the in-stock hats are bland and overall pricey for off-the-shelf hats. The customer service was also horrendous. I've never felt by belittled by anyone as I did by the shop owner. read more

Bad handling deforms to hats over time, and they're trying to protect the hat you will eventually buy. They have Baileys, Stetson and many more, as well as their own hat creations. If you buy one of their handmade hats you'll be paying for the quality, time and skill that goes into crafting a superior hat. This is more that a hat store, it's an experience. Nashville hasn't had a place like this in YEARS, if ever. Not only can you pick from hats of every type, color, and price for men and women, but Gigi make wonderful custom hats. I brought my fathers old hat in to be remade, and she made it look like new, not one that is over 30 years old. Gigi Gaskin, the owner and hat maker (read artist) is a lovely woman who will help you with all your questions. My husband and I love Goorin Bro hats and always shop there, but he was looking for a particular hat that Goorin Bro didn't carry. So we thought we'd check out Hat Works. I went in to look around and was chatting with the sales associates, and a lady sitting behind the counter rudely interrupted us and told me I could NOT buy a hat for someone else!! I replied, "I cant?" in confusion. I was shocked and a little embarrassed because she was talking so loudly and aggressively. It's a very nice store. There's a great selection from top to bottom, it's well organized, and has just about anything someone that's looking for a hat would need. I know what a $200 hat is. I know what a $90 hat is. I LIKED the $90 hat. I didn't like being told all the reasons why I SHOULDN'T like the $90 hat. I left feeling like I was talked out of buying any hats at all... I was excited when I first saw this place, but much less so once I entered. Nothing but cheaply made, way overpriced hats, and loads of attitude from the folks who work there. I was wearing a vintage Knox fedora and asked some sincere questions about cleaning, blocking and a small repair, and they looked at me like I was asking them to revive a dead squirrel I found on the side of the road. I had to make an account on here to let others know about how atrocious the customer service was. While the store has very beautiful product and I wanted to get a Stetson hat very badly I refuse to give this establishment my hard earned money. I was being helped by a gentleman and I admit I was being picky (spending $200 on a hat is an investment!) and he was being patient and helpful and we were having a nice time but then an old woman came over to interrupt. She said I was taking too long and if I didn't know what I wanted I should leave. I honestly didn't know how to react and I could tell the gentle man helping me was embarrassed by her behavior. I told her I wasn't a aware there was a time limit on browsing hats. To which she replied "We don't have time for people who take up our time and aren't getting anything." Little did she know I was about to buy TWO hats from the kind man helping me a total of $500 that she will not be getting from me. I left. She was so angry telling me that. She seemed a screw loose. I was visiting from out of town and had heard about the amazing selection of hats here and was bummed I was kicked out for taking "too long" to pick one out.
