This is my favorite spot in Denton whenever I'm craving a poke bowl! Their Build Your Own Poke Bowl is my go-to - I usually go with ahi tuna and sometimes add spicy tuna or tempura shrimp as a second protein, then load up on all the fresh toppings. Their combination fried rice is also a solid pick if you're looking for something extra filling. Everything's always fresh, and you can add tons of toppings (avocado and cream cheese cost extra, but most toppings are included). My favorite sauce mix is the spicy mayo and ponzu. Plus, they always throw a little treat in the to-go bag, like Starburst, which I think is a great touch. During Lent, especially on Fridays, it can get pretty packed, but most of the year it's a nice, quiet spot for lunch. Parking at lunchtime can be a bit tricky, though - I've sometimes had to park by McAlister's or the Armed Forces Career Center and walk over, or drive around until a spot opens up. I usually order online, and while I wish they had an app to make it even easier, their service is impressively fast. I can place an order when I leave work, and by the time I get there - about 10 minutes later - it's ready to go. read more

We went there for the Poke bowls. They were fresh and delicious. We definitely want to go back to try the sushi as we saw a couple of tables order and the rolls had what looked about 8 pieces that were huge. The presentation was impressive and we will be going back to try other things. read more

Conveniently located off of University close to alot of shopping centers. I thought the restaurant was cute and loved the decals on the walls. I decided to build my own bowl with salmon, edamame, cucumber, mango and a couple of other goodies that escape me at the moment. I thought the flavors were pretty good but thought there could have been more protein. Not a bad price point though and the customer service was great! read more

My family and I are pretty much hooked on the fried rice dishes and the spring rolls, and one day we'll venture past our go-to order here. One of my kids is picky about the fried rice, and this is their favorite. Besides the food, I love that you can do free pick ups on the order. The last few times I've come to pick up, they've been playing funny pet videos on the lobby tv, so I get a dose of cute during my (short) wait. The folks here are friendly, and I like the place. $21 for double ahi tuna with fried rice poke. The portion was small (see photos) not sure if I even got my double protein. Pretty sure they didn't add the fried onion or garlic crisps toppings I asked for because there was no flavoring and the tuna isn't marinated. Worst of all the tuna was chewy. I have never had chewy fish before and it's off putting to say the least. It's like the texture when you get overcooked crab but more spongy. This place deserves an updated review. I've been ordering at least a couple times a month for a long while now and they've won me over. While I generally feel the same about their hibachi and appetizers since my first review, they have the best track record in town for consistent poke bowls. They have beat out the other spots in consistency, accuracy and flavor. While that definitely counts for something with me, keep in mind this review is about their poke bowls and not about the rest of the menu like my last review. I sometimes get their menu bowls and add/subtract items but I typically build my own bowl. That being said I usually have additional notes such as 'light on the sauce' and they always follow my instructions perfectly. Now full disclosure, when it comes to the protein I always get the salmon, although I will vary the toppings based on my mood, so I can't comment on all their bowls. The salmon has always been wonderful, fresh and tasty and since my first visit there has always been enough of it. The sushi rice is always cooked and seasoned correctly and the veggies are nice and fresh. One time I got a weird piece of mango and another time I had a couple of bitter pieces of cucumber, but other than that my orders have been completely delicious! When you consider this is out of at least 25 or 30 bowls, I'm completely satisfied and have come to rely on this place. At other businesses that offer poke bowls I can rarely say I've received a perfect bowl multiple times. Consider the fact that they are cheaper and they have great, filling portions and I don't know what else there is to discuss. Consistency is extremely important to me and I love that this place fulfills my poke cravings and never disappoints. Not the best sushi or poke I've had, even in Texas. The amount of seafood provided seemed a little small in comparison. And pandemic restrictions in full force like plastic walls between customers and staff, which was off-putting and made communication more difficult than necessary. But flavors were good, ingredients fresh. Staff friendly, to the extent I could understand them through a microphone and speaker. Parking abundant in the strip mall lot. Traffic on University makes it hard to return towards downtown and the square after your meal, as you need to make an unsignalled left after crossing three or four lanes of oncoming traffic. Try snaking through the parking lots to Bonnie Brae. Although everything was delivered at the same time (I hate that), we started with Edamame, which was served warm with quite a bit of salt. Really good size serving for two of us. I had the signature ahi tuna bowl and it had good flavors. Not huge, but I left satisfied. I did split a spicy tuna roll with my wife though. Note the roll comes with a mayo-based sauce on it. Unusual for spicy tuna. Also there was a touch of crunch to the roll. Again unusual but very subdued and I kind of liked it. $44 for two bowls, a sushi roll, edamame and two bottled drinks. Fairly austere interior and furniture only moderately comfortable. But it did seem clean and was quiet, despite the presence of a few other diners. Low volume Christmas tunes being played, which was appropriate for the time of year but doesn't say Japan of course. Not a place I would go out of my way for. But, I may go again when in the area. read more

Let me tell you, if I could give Hauoli Poke Teppan more than 5 stars, I would! This has to be hands down the best Japanese food I've ever had. I was greeted with amazing customer service, the restaurant was super clean on the inside, and got our order very quickly even though they were working on 3-4 other people's orders. From even before I took my first bite I knew that the food was high quality and it smelled wonderful. The food was delicious and their fried rice is the best I've ever had. What an amazing find! The sushi was super fresh and the Teppan was tasty and well prepared - all with great prices. I ordered the tuna poke bowl and it was well portioned with good chunks of tuna, crabmeat, jalapeños, spicy mayo, lettuce and rice. Next time I order, I'll probably ask for more lettuce and less rice but it was excellent. About the only way that they could possibly improve would be to offer the spicy tuna mix instead of chunked tuna for the poke bowl and to offer soy/rice paper for the sushi - just to be able to provide a different option. My kid ordered the chicken teppan and the fried rice. It was especially good and the chicken perfectly cooked. Even the vegetables had a very fresh and light flavor. Perfect amount of sauce to not overpower the dish. This one will definitely be a stop for a sushi, pole, and Teppan when we're up in the Rayzor Ranch area of Denton. read more

Being reviewer for so long i don't think I've ever been more shocked then coming here. The only reason I give this place two stars is because the lady working was extremely nice and made my food fast because of a time crunch (essential prioritizing my order over others before me). My biggest regret is not taking a picture of my food as proof. I ordered a poke bowl (which I have had MANY of from many different places). I even decided to splurge and get two meats instead of one. Ahi tuna and spicy salmon, I decided to get all but two toppings and all of the crunchy that they have. When I opened my bowl I was shocked. I want to say I was given way looked like 2.5-3 cups of just sushi rice and on top of that MAYBE 5 very tiny cubes of tuna and salmon. Majority of my bowl was just straight up crunchies (which isn't even a meal) equivalent to bread crumbs. The topping portion was still less then I've ever gotten from other poke places but because I did pick almost everything I'm giving them very little slack there. But to see the amount of fish I got that I paid extra for ($16 bowl) I'm honestly never coming back here. So if you want sushi rice with toppings and crunchies come here. I genuinely felt so ripped off and if I had the time to go back and complain I would've as well. read more

So, I thought poke was raw fish with rice, etc. Turns out, you can have grilled shrimp or grilled chicken, or even tofu. It's not easy to find a poke bowl place in small towns, but thankfully I'm seeing a trend and they're popping up all over! I always order shrimp tempura when I order my poke bowls. All their fixins' are fresh. I ask for sauce on the side usually, since I am not sure on the spiciness. I eat here when I'm looking for something lite and not so heavy for a meal. Their serving size is like any other poke bowl packed with veggies. My food was made fresh and the shrimp was still hot when I got my order. Inside is decorated really nice with ocean vibes. Best poke I've tried so far! I've had their Hawaiian salmon bowl and the ahi tuna bowl and both are very delicious and fulfilling! All the ingredients taste fresh and the bowls are made with time, not just thrown together. I would've liked avocado in the ahi tuna bowl but other than that the flavors are great. Also, I would like more portions of the fish, but it's not bad for the price they give. The mayo based sauce they drizzle on top makes the whole bowl come together.
