Blue Ginger is one of our go-to spots, whether we're dining in or ordering delivery. It's a cute little restaurant with friendly staff. Our daughter is obsessed with the beef tartare and sashimi combo, she orders it every time. We usually stick with the filet hibachi and fried rice, and it's consistently really good. The chicken is good too if that's more your style. Everything is seasoned so well without being overpowering, and the sauces are honestly spot on (which makes more of a difference than people think). Even the salad dressing is yummy. It's one of those places that just always hits the mark, especially when we order delivery and add salads for a small up charge ("free"soup and salad is only for dine-in) and it somehow still tastes fresh and put together. I had been looking for a sushi restaurant that I felt comfortable ordering from while visiting here in Denton. I happen to stumble upon this place and a couple of colleagues and myself ordered food from them. I did not on that occasion get sushi I ordered some shrimp hibachi that was tasty and filling. So, decided to go back this time and (took photos) order some sushi. I will be the first to admit that I'm a novice sushi person and don't know a whole lot about it. This was trial and error when I ordered what I got. But, it was SO delicious. Before I leave this town I will be going back for more. The staff were amazing and it was certainly busy when I went which is an indication that the food and service are good. I ordered and picked up so I could enjoy it back in my room. They were Crispy with a Creamy Filling of Cream Cheese and Crab! Very Delicious! We ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box which was on a bed of Shredded Cabbage and a Tempura Shrimp Bento box which had 3 Shrimp, 1 Sweet Potato, 1 Zucchini, 1 Onion Ring Bento Box included 6 pieces of California Roll, White Rice, Egg Roll which was Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and Choice of Soup or Salad. Came here for lunch with friends. The waitress was friendly enough but she neglected to mention that I would be charged extra $4 for switching out mushrooms and carrots with cabbage. Our friends had sushi and she forgot to bring a dish for their soy sauce and also wasabi. While trying to enjoy our lunch, there was a loud beeping sound coming from the hostess station. When I mentioned it to one of the hostesses because we were sitting right by her, she completed ignored me. Thank goodness, a waiter finally came and turned off the sound. Gyoza and edamame was good. The reason for the 2 stars is because the shrimp fried rice was the most bland rice I've ever had. And the shrimp they used was the little shrimp that's probably frozen. And another reason for the 2 stars was our server. She seamed upset to be there, she was not attentive and gave attitude by rolling her eyes because we asked for to go boxes. Dissapointing....I've been coming here for years and ordered steak hibachi and the meat was so tough you couldn't even get your fork into it. We chewed it up and had to spit it out. Our waitress had asked management about what to do....their response was to add another meat at cost and can't remove the steak charge. Good service to me is the manager/owner comes to the table to see the problem and personally apologize for the mistake and how can they make it better? A good, solid place for japanese food at a reasonable price. The staff were nice and the location is clean and tidy. Out of my group, some ordered sushi and some ordered hibachi. Those that ordered sushi were quite pleased with the quality and value for price. I ordered the ahi tuna tower, which i really enjoyed. It looks impressive, but is a good option for a lighter dinner. This place is consistently good! If it's sushi at home night, BG is our go to! Free delivery within 5 miles and I hope people tip the delivery staff appropriately. It's fast and fresh without the hassle of eating inside. My hubby gets the volcano roll topped with fried crawfish, gyoza, smoked salmon sashimi, shrimp crunch roll for those cream cheese fans out there. I don't like a lot of sauce so I go a different route. I get the shrimp tempura appetizer and can never finish it. I order the miso but sometimes that makes a delicious snack with some leftover gyoza. I love the simple peppered tuna avocado roll. Blue Ginger is my happy place! They always come through for me and never disappoint. The best thing about them is they've remained consistent, affordable and delicious over the years. I really enjoy dining in, especially if I can manage to stop by before 3pm and get their lunch specials. The portions are excellent for the price and I do enjoy their miso. However, that's rare for me with my work schedule and I usually pick up a to go order or get delivery on a weekend night. The only day they are closed is Mondays. A meal from here always puts me in a great mood and cancels out the exhaustion and craziness of the work week, the great equalizer! So when I'm too tired to move or face traffic again, this is my #1 choice. I typically order by phone because the staff is great and they always know it's me! They really appreciate their customers and they always ask the perfect questions to make sure you get exactly what you need. Their website is pretty good for ordering delivery too. Delivery is free within 5 miles for orders over $25. I'm not sure what the fee would be for smaller orders as I tend to pig out when treating myself with Blue Ginger. They are excellent about leaving off sauces or putting items on the side upon request, including delivery orders. They pack everything with care, even putting cardboard between cold and hot items so you won't receive hot sushi. If I used emojis, this is probably where I would insert one of those deranged heart eyes emojis. I did recently discover they were on UberEats. I did try it out to compare the experience and while you can avoid the minimum fee, I prefer ordering directly from the restaurant. When I tried it, the menu was lacking options like cook on the steak, steamed or fried rice, no sauce etc. You can add notes if you think to cover all those options though and hey, it's a great options for those outside of their free delivery area. I would recommend you visit their website first though so you not only know how to specify your order, but what comes with it. Their website has their menu which includes a full description of ingredients in every roll, very helpful! I always get a hibachi dinner and some nigiri or a sushi roll. The hibachi is the best option in Denton and the surrounding cities, especially when you consider portion and price. The seasoning is excellent, the vegetables are tender and it's very satisfying. The lunch portion is very fair and I love that they have hibachi options on the kids menu too. I've tried all the options and while the filet mignon is my go to, I love their steak, chicken and shrimp options too. Their mustard sauce is yummy and the flavor profile works great for hibachi. The sushi is solid, maybe top 3 or 4 in town. I've never ordered a roll I didn't like from here. Full disclosure, I don't like sauces on my sushi and won't order anything with mayo, jalapeno or 15 toppings on it. I'm a creature of habit, so I typically get the salmon roll, or a crunchy roll if I'm in the mood. It's always good. I also like that their veggies are really fresh and will actually enjoy vegetarian roll from here occasionally. Their tempura options have always pleasantly surprised me too, I would recommend those as well and this is probably the only place I enjoy those types of options in a sushi roll. I've had it with shrimp, chicken and whitefish off the top of my head. Since I'm married to a white man who would survive on pizza and frito pies alone if you let him, I find it necessary to find options for less adventurous eaters. Anyone will enjoy a tempura roll/appetizer and a hibachi from here. The sushi quality is good, but it's rolled a little loose. I've never had an issue with a smaller, classic roll, but this could be problematic with larger specialty rolls. I actually would love for them to add a few hand rolls to the menu from a personal standpoint, kind of my go to comfort food. But trust me, this menu is definitely not lacking options. I'll continue to support this restaurant with their scrumptious food, reasonable prices and considerate staff. I hope you give them a shot too! read more

Food okay... staff bad... customer less than entirely gruntled. Sad! Gilligan might be happy here, but I think Ginger would be blue. Sorry to the very nice owner but our waitress, when she finally showed up, was clueless. First, I guess she expected my wife and I each to eat with a single chopstick, since she brought only one pair. She then did her best David Copperfield disappearing act, which was fine to me, since I found her appearance - bullring in the nose and some ugly tattoos - unappetizing. My wife ordered fried rice with her hibachi - $2.50 as an upgrade but also $2.50 as a single item on the menu, and I said, steamed rice comes with the meal, right, so please bring that also. When the bill came, it was $1.50 extra for that, and she would not understand and could not explain why we should not be charged for the rice that comes with the meal since we paid extra for the fried rice. The most important point being that I brought it up in advance when we were ordering, but of course she wasn't smart enough to remember what happened 15 minutes before. Maybe they really didn't want to say that the separate fried rice is just tiny and not a real portion but then just charge $4 for the fried rice and be done with it. Truth is, the fried rice was just rice, none of the usual bits of onion and peas and egg and other things that are mixed into a good fried rice. Anyway, the hibachi chicken and Bento box teriyaki chicken were both fine, I did especially like the cooked cabbage in my bento box. We did find the spring rolls to be very mushy inside. We had it delivered. It was a timely turn around, however the food was disappointing; The Ginger sauce flavor was primarily horseradish flavored. I paid extra for Fried Rice which ended up essentially white rice with a little soy sauce with a truly minuscule amount of egg. Paid extra for zucchini and onions to be added to veggies. Don't know that I will order from the them again. JJ's Sushi down the street puts this place to shame!. I had ordered it for guest and was totally embarrassed at the final result.
