I ordered via seemless to get a jump on the morning, sometimes the shop is packed at rush hour. Today was one of those days. After a couple of minutes, I got my sandwich and walked down to my office (about 10 min away). Upon opening the sandwich, I was greeted by the wrong order. I go egg-cheese-everything-franks. This was bacon-egg-cheese-raisen-ketchup (an odd combo, right?). A little disappointed, I ate the kind. It did the trick. A solid bagels of many varieties, solid breakfast sandwiches, decent enough coffee, but certainly nothing to write home about. Toasted bagels don't have *any* crispness/crunchiness to them so do yourself a favor and ask them which bagel is freshest out of the oven and skip the toaster. read more

Best Bagel shop in Williamsburg. I used to go to the "bagel shop" on South 4th and Bedford but they had a bunch of total retards there that could never get an order right and then got lines up the arse because of "rainbow bagels" which just made their food and service swan dive further. So, I looked around and Have-a-Bagel was opening. Bagels are fresh, prices are excellent, and you actually get what you order. You want cheddar, pepper, and ketchup in your breakfast sandwich? They can actually write that down and serve you that. 100%, what you order is what you get. I can get behind that. Finally a good and competent bagel spot. P.S. I went to Have-a-bagel to get a burger for dinner because it's on my walk home from the train after work. I decided to stop by because their bagels in the morning aren't half bad. Well, my first mistake was assuming a bagel shop can make a burger. Worst Burger Ever. I asked for a medium-well burger and it came out as a cardboard width char over a beat red center. This is not to say it was a cooking error, because I watched them cook my burger for about 20 minutes. This meat must be bottom of the barrel... I could not finish the burger and lost my appetite before I got to the fries. For $12, you think there would be better service and better quality. Not trying to be overly dramatic, but after a long day at work with hunger beyond belief, and standards below the norm, it is so much more dissatisfying when you know a simple bowl of cereal would have been 100x better than the cardboard crusted raw meat you just forced down your throat. read more

I've never been a big review contributor. I have one of those problems with writing, the kind of problem that always involves the dreaded "you've reached the maximum allowance of characters" (my fellow writers/word enthusiasts understand the anxiety those abrupt little commands induce). So I tend to not even bother, knowing I'll likely get cut off halfway through anyways by those dreaded little red fonts or suffer some typical intrusion from the impatient world outside my head. But for the second time in days I'm on here reviewing another establishment that has blown me away with the quality of their food, the quality of their service and their fair and honorable prices. I love grabbing my bagels from the city, preferably Brooklyn, whenever I'm coming through and have the time to stop and grab one. But being a driver with different stops and routes every time I'm up here I have to pull out yelp and find a new spot close by to grab what I Hope ends up being a real bagel. Today I found a spot that I already bookmarked and decided that I will be returning to from now on. No matter how far my stop is from it. Have-a-bagel was exceptional for this pretty broke girl, the prices were almost identical to Dunkin Donuts where I'm from (Fairfield County, but the not so nice parts), yet instead of flavored cardboard with commercial grade cream cheese I was munching on a delicious cinnamon and raisin bagel, the perfect texture of smooth crust, crispy, but not so much as to break teeth, with that fresh baked flavor and soft fluffiness inside that was still warm from being toasted and slathered in the creamiest and rich fresh strawberry cream cheese I've ever had by far. I was smitten, to say the least. The price almost scared me. I've spent over $6 for bagels not even close to this kind of awesome, so I was worried when my iced coffee and two bagels (I was with a partner, I'm not that food crazy) w/cream cheese came to almost ten bucks. The iced coffee was excellent as well. Perfect brew, beautiful rich flavor that hits my tongue just right (I'm a weirdo, I love the way the flavor of good coffee hits my tongue and lingers long after the sip is over), perfect blend of milk and sugar. I had the absolute perfect breakfast for my first real warm spring day in the city and I'm still basking in the memories of my recently devoured treasure. And before I forget, the people working their are absolutely beautiful! Good hearted folks behind the counter are a scarce thing these days. Seems most don't have the patience to bother anymore, and I can't say I have the right to blame them. Its a different world I guess. Busier and longer and less forgiving. Most of the time you feel like a nuisance for approaching a counter or register to place an order or buy an item. But the people who work at Have-A-Bagel made me feel like they confused me with an undercover boss or something. They were quick, efficient, patient and KIND. Kind being my most favorite. Oh- the wonderful girl who handled my order nonchalantly asked if I'd like an extra bagel for free because they had a no show customer for a bagel order...... I did a strange pause as I tried not to seem overly excited, and I then nodded like a bobble head and thanked her again and again. I hadn't even tried the bagels yet at that point, but you kinda know the minute you walk in whether a bagel spot is gonna be good or not. And three bagels and an iced coffee for ten bucks made it amazing no matter how the faired in the end. The fact that they were honest to God the best bagels I've had yet only makes me feel that much cooler and special that I had such a great experience buying them and was treated to an extra for free. I'm going to try and take all the early Brooklyn jobs from now on just so I can stop here. Connecticut doesn't have anything close to these bagel gems. I dunno why, we are right across the line but seems flavor is territorial. But that's okay. The classic Brooklyn sounds and sights abundant in this section where this little shop rests is a big part of the whole experience. And again Its so worth it. They did great! read more

Not the best, not the worst. I ordered the Mediterranean on an everything bagel with an ice coffee. Firstly, the bagel itself was big, fresh and tasty. Definitely one of the better bagels in Williamsburg. But the hummus that came with my sandwich really lacked any flavor. So this delicious bagel was brought down to mediocre from the filling, which definitely sucks because the whole sandwich cost $7.25 (which personally I think is pretty pricey). I also get the hunch that the ice coffee was previously hot coffee put over ice. I could be wrong but the flavor isn't that of cold brew flavor. The staff was extremely speedy and friendly, so that is always nice. I think I'd return here if I was craving a more simple bagel toasted with butter so i could enjoy the flavors of the bagel itself. Otherwise ill stick to my other bagel spot on down the street. read more

I've passed Have-A-Bagel every day for the last year and decided to head in for what they call "The Classic" - Smoked Salmon, scallion cream cheese, tomato, onion and capers on a bagel. I ordered it toasted. Since they don't offer seating, they packed it to-go and off I went. 10 blocks in the rain back to my apartment. I open the sandwich and all I see is a 1 thin layer of salmon and almost no cream cheese, and that's it. Open it to confirm and indeed that's what they rest of it is like, no tomatoes, onions, capers or any signs of being toasted. The thinnest layer of cream cheese and 1 piece of salmon... for $12. That is not ok. I decide to go back and let them know. Lady at the counter was nice which is why they got 2 stars, and offered to remake the sandwich. 5 mins later I have it and I'm off, again in the rain, 10 blocks back home. This time I open the already cold sandwich to find all the ingredients, but the tomatoes are totally unripe. Literally white, hard, raw tomatoes. The bagel itself is cut with awful proportions, like 80/20. One side 80% thickness of it, and the other was razor thin at about 20%. Perhaps their other sandwiches are a little better, but if something they call the classic is this bad, I wouldn't hold my breath. Won't be returning. read more

I really hope the owner reads this .. this place has the most rude employees. Worst experience ever. I work nearby and myself and my 10 employees order from this place all the time without a problem since they opened . Recently they hired a couple of new employees and they are rude as hell . I called to place an order over the phone and asked if they could process my payment over the phone and someone was on the way to pick it up but they forgot my card. (which they have done before . ) Instead of processing the order the woman tells me she is too busy and argues with me back and forth . I told her the person is on their way and she tells me that she's gonna send them back to me to get the card because she doesn't have time to process the card over the phone . She hangs up on me . When I call back to speak to another manager she hangs up on me again . They will not be getting any business from me anymore and I was a loyal customer from day one . read more

This has been my neighborhood spot for the last year and a half. The service is top notch. The bagels are chewy and fresh in the best possible way. Love the coffee, particularly the iced coffee. They've also done a great job managing during covid times. I've gotten delivery more times than I can count and they've never given me the wrong thing and it always arrive early. This bagel was almost perfection. I say almost cus I havnt been everywhere. Got a onion bagel with butter and American toasted. The bagel was freshly made with a crispy outside and soft on the inside. The onions didn't overpower the flavor like most do, or be kinda burnt.. (ok maybe it was perfect) toasted and lightly buttered. Hate a greasy bagel. And the cheese was melted from the heat of the bagel. Also got a crumb cake from the counter. That wasn't as good. Not stale, but you cud tell it had a day or two on it. And too much crumb to cake ratio. All in all will be back for their bagels. It's early, might go now. read more

I don't have much to compare it to because I never really have bagels but this was delicious. Bagel was fresh and tasty, tofu cream cheese hit the spot and nice crisp slices of tomato. The issue I have with this place is that they never follow their hours of operation. It says open until 10:00 PM. I've gone to this place plenty of times around 9:20-9:30PM and they were closed. Either change your hours of operation or tell you staff to stop closing early. Do yourself a favor and don't walk/drive here only to find it closed. Bagelsmith is nearby and open 24 hours. read more

Awful. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and they didn't put egg on the sandwich. I ended up having to make my own eggs at home for the sandwich after waiting an hour for the delivery. The coffee was also horrible. The wrong size was delivered. I got a small when i asked for a large and it was completely watered down. Definitely would not recommend this place to others!
