He did a horrible job explaining options and when I had questions he said, "You don't understand the terminology so I'm just gonna go." I stopped him and said "No I understand you just fine," as I'm in the medical field myself. He said, "This is going no where, I'm not gonna argue with you," and stormed out of the room. I hear him down the hallway speaking to the manager saying, "Diego you need to go in there because the granddaughter is being difficult and just wants to argue." UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!! Not only is it your job to ensure the patient understands what you're saying, but you're gonna sit here and talk to us like we're stupid and beneath you??? I was calm during the whole interaction up until that point, asking whatever questions we had, which is the whole reason for a consultation appointment. Spoke with both the manager, Diego and another staff member, Jackie (who has always been very helpful in the past) and they were apologetic but not excusatory. Jackie stated that she, "knows how he is" and that she has also gotten into it with him many times before. I absolutely cannot believe that Dr. Verdolin would have someone with such terrible bedside manner, and just outright rude and unprofessional on staff. You are supposed to be an advocate and educator for you patients, not belittle them and talk to them like they're stupid. He needs to go back to residency and learn bedside manner, or just manners period!

And now I have what will probably be a screwed up neck and shoulder (right side) for the rest of my life. Serves me right, right? That said, after a series of ineffective visits to a chiropractor and physical therapist, a recommendation was made for a pain management specialist. Enter Dr. Wynn. After an initial visit, i was scheduled for an out-patient treatment and I can say this: The man knows his sh*t. I was concerned that that day, when I still felt a degree of discomfort after he injected the affected area with a cortisol steroid, the pain would be lessened but not completely eradicated. But by the next day, I felt great. It's amazing how much persistent pain can affect everything in your life. And the staff there is great, too. They are all young and bubbly and patient and friendly. And they really seem to like working there. SO, IT IS TRULY A SHAME THAT THE "FACE" OF THEIR PRACTICE IS THE INCORRIGIBLE NURSE PRACTITIONER CHEN, AN INVETERATE LIAR. The first time I met her, she told me about the dangers of opioid treatment for pain management. I explained to her that it's a moot point because I take naltrexone (which is an opioid blocker), so we agreed that steroids would have to do. But when I returned, I encountered a much different NP Chen. First, I was told that they couldn't see me because Dr. Wynn was not available. She insisted that they called me to let me know so I wouldn't have to travel down to them (on public transportation, no less), but I played my VM's from the day before and, NOPE, they never left a message. Then NP Chen told me she was going to send over a prescription for Tramadol (an opioid) to my pharmacy. I recall thinking: that's weird. I told them I can't take opioids. But when I called back later that day to say that my pharmacy had not received the prescription, NP CHEN SAID SHE NEVER TOLD ME SHE'D PRESCRIBED ME THE DRUG. I called her out on it but she insists that that never happened. And I, not being a shrinking violet, told her I didn't care about the Tramadol but that I wanted her to take ownership of her lie. The conversation quickly devolved into a shouting match before the line went dead. (They did call back to say the line was lost, but who knows?) I will go back because, as I've said, Dr. Wynn and his staff are amazing. But, Holy Bat Fake, that nurse practitioner lies.

I did not realize in 2019 such great and caring medical treatment was still available. Dr. Lenihan was recommended to me by my primary care physician who had known him for years for his work with sports teams. He is thoughtful, fully answers every question and explains everything to my satisfaction which is very important to me. I never felt like he was trying to rush me out of his office to get to his next appointment. I have seen some other comments about the staff being rude or too busy to be bothered. I can say on my mid afternoon first visit the reception area was pretty full and there were a few people in line waiting to check in. The ladies behind the reception desk seemed extremely busy (and they were working hard and not just sitting around texting and chatting with each other). After a while I was getting a little frustrated but took a deep breath and said to myself "let's just play this out and see what happens". I am glad I did. On my second visit I arrived early just as they opened and the same ladies were friendly, smiling and greeting me as I approached the counter. Seems like on my first visit they were just slammed. The Otay Lakes Surgery Center is great but the staff made the difference. As the time for my surgery counted down I could feel I was getting more nervous. When the staff spoke with me they made sure to make eye contact reinforcing my issue had their full attention and were professional, polite and genuinely concerned. I was kept informed and updated throughout the entire process and that made a big difference for me. My Surgical Nurse Stacey came by to introduce herself and described what was going to happen as they began moving me into surgery and then post op stating she would be with me at every step. She made sure I had my questions answered and even brought me warm blankets. Dr. Wallace the anesthesiologist came over, introduced himself, explained everything that was going to happen including my recovery over the next 24 hours and ended asking if I had any questions. Just before kickoff Dr. Lenihan came by asking if I had any questions or concerns. Dr. Lenihan even provided me a DVD video of my entire procedure with his comments. A BIG THANK YOU to Dr. Lenihan, his Medical Assistant Frances, Dr. Wallace, nurse Stacey and every employee I encountered during my procedure at the Surgery Center! Would recommend Dr. Lenihan and the Otay Lakes Surgery Center to anyone.

This was one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had…read more I arrived on time for my scheduled appointment and waited approximately 45 minutes in the lobby before being called back. After that, I waited an additional 35 minutes for the doctor. After more than 80 minutes of waiting, I still had not been seen by a physician. Unfortunately, I had to leave because I needed to get to work. As a result, I never received the medical care I came for despite taking time out of my day and traveling to the clinic. No patient's time should be treated this way. If a clinic is running significantly behind schedule, patients deserve to be informed and given the option to reschedule. Instead, I was left waiting with no regard for my time or responsibilities. I left without being examined, without receiving treatment, and extremely disappointed. This level of service is unacceptable for a medical practice. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone.
